@purplegirl13

Each time, I think this will be the time I don't eat it all the chocolates in one go, and I'll be that person who only has a small square to keep me satisfied. Anyway, it's all gone now

Lol this is me

Knittingnanny2 · 21/03/2022 03:36

Hi everyone it’s SIS here! I’m hoping the searing heat will melt off the excess calories I’m consuming! Off to Botanical Hardens whilst the little ones are at school and nursery with a large bottle of iced water. No doubt mr knittingnanny will seek out some street food though, he is from this part of the world and misses spicy stuff!
I’ve spotted chocolate in the fridge here and although I’ve been told to help myself to whatever I want, it would be very awkward to eat it all up and have to confess!
Last nights photo- still fitting in last years size 10 that that’s a good sign!

Morningmaeve · 21/03/2022 07:31

@purplegirl13 you are totally right about the Friday weighing! Gives me four days to undo the damage of the weekend. No wonder my progress is slow/non-existent if I am only making a real effort 3/4 of the time. Singapore looks beautiful @Knittingnanny2. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time.

Raindancer411 · 21/03/2022 07:33

Hi all, am 5 2 and weighing 9st 1, which Althiugh doesn't sound a lot, it is to me. I am a whole stone over where I want to be after a pregnancy and then lockdown for two years :(

Raindancer411 · 21/03/2022 07:50

Sorry pressed send too early... before my sister I was 8st 2 and could eat anything and would weigh the same (but I was 30). After that pregnancy I managed to get back to a static 8st 5, so not where I wanted to be but wasn't too bad. Then I got pregnant 8yrs later at 38 and had her at 39... As I was due we went into lockdown as they asked third trimester too, shortly before everyone else followed. After I had her in May 2020, I managed to get down to 9st 5, and have been fighting since to lose the rest... now I am not sure if age and breastfeeding could be to do with the "holding on to" the last few pounds but I have a spare tyre around my middle when I sit that makes me feel uncomfortable. I don't want to wear dresses, and see the rolls when I look down...

My plan is to cut back on the sweet stuff and not have as much bread but then the other half offers and I cannot say no... Also with breastfeeding (she is currently 21 months), if I do not eat I start feeling light headed and I think it makes me crave sweet stuff... plan is to let her wean naturally and hope my body is storing extra until then....

Knittingnanny2 · 21/03/2022 09:03

@Raindancer411 we all get it!
Mrknittingnanny ate Laksa in botanic gardens today but I was too hot ( it’s 33!!!) so I had Diet Coke!
Singapore is lovely but soooo hot which makes my poor old arthritic knees painful but I’m powering through it’s worth it to see three little ones.

WellTidy · 21/03/2022 10:26

Hello SiS. Singapore looks lovely, and I’m glad you’re having a lovely time with your family. I’ve been to the Botanic Gardens and loved them. I also had the best lemon chicken of my life in a random food court in Singapore. Great memories. It’s lovely that you’re there. Stay hydrated!

Welcome @Raindancer411 and good luck with your weight loss journey

@purplegirl13 I’ve started to buy a single crème egg when I want chocolate. It means that there’s no going back for more. They’re 185 calories and obviously super sweet so it’s a real sugar fix. It is forecast to be 18 degrees here today, almost jumpsuit weather!

@Chocolatefreak I am 100% propelled by vanity. Health benefits are desirable by secondary for me. I need to look better to feel better and I do feel so much better about myself when I am lighter and can fit into the wardrobes full of clothes that I currently can’t wear

That said, I had a blow out on Saturday as DH and I went out to an Indian restaurant for dinner, which also involved two cocktails (pineapple cream spiced thing and a rose&lychee champagne cocktail - absolutely delicious, in a way that all calorific things are), two courses, and an ice cream when I got home. And then a crème egg. Yikes.

Which means that I am up to 9st 8.5lb, a gain of 1.75lb on the week before. Planning to walk for a total of as close to two hours as I have time for today (I’ve done 30 minutes so far).

Today:

B - almond croissant (already consumed, and needs to fuel the walking Blush)
L - small dish of leftover ham, crème fraiche, peas, lemon and parsley gnocchi
D - homemade pizzas (two slices)
NO CRÈME EGGS

purplegirl13 · 21/03/2022 11:14

@Knittingnanny2 ooh I would love a lasksa right now, I've still not managed to find a decent veggie one in London. I hope you're keeping hydrated!

@Morningmaeve I think a number of us let go over the weekend and get right back 'on it' each Monday :)

@WellTidy I do need learn how to go out and buy a single chocolate or bag of crisps. Must not mention my recent discovery of frozen croissants 18 degrees is still too cold for me Wink
Your Saturday night food and drinks sounds amazing, especially the cocktails

@Raindancer411 we all get it, it's hard to even mention being 9st or lower to other people

I think I have finally got back in the zone (I say, hoping I really really mean it)

B - banana
L - tbc
D - noodles stir-fried with tofu & spinach
S - mango /boiled egg

busybeeee222 · 21/03/2022 19:25

Hi Everyone,

I would like to join in, I'm 5'2 and I currently weigh 10.10 stone

I am the heaviest i have been in years and I feel uncomfortable.

I am starting to loose weight from tomorrow. I think I will do calorie counting and trying to up my protein intake.

What is everyone else doing?

If you are calorie counting do you mind sharing your weight / height and calories (if thats not too cheeky)

Also any tips and plans.

I do know how to loose weight so it's not lack of knowledge, just that I love eating chocolates and sweet rubbish.

morningmaeve · 21/03/2022 21:45

Hello and welcome@busybeeee222 I'm also 5ft 2in and I joined this thread at around 10stone 4lb. Currently around 9stone. I aim for around 1200-1400 calories a day but I definitely go a bit higher on the weekends. I've reduced carbs and snacking and think this really made a difference. I walk a lot and I've started the C25K running app recently.

busybeeee222 · 21/03/2022 21:58

@morningmaeve - oh wow amazing well done Smile how ling did it take you to loose the weight?

9 stone is my ideal weight, and I can get there but can't seem to stay there anymore since the lockdowns.

I think carbs are a no go for me if I want to loose weight.

What sort of things are you eating in a day to stick to 1200 - 1400 calories?

neverenoughchelseboots · 22/03/2022 04:00

Welcome @busybeeee222 I was 10st 7lb at my heaviest a couple of months before I started on this thread. I had a target of 9st but got to 8st 10 in 18 months. (Now heavier as I had a baby since).

I don't calorie count as such although I use my fitness pal for a couple of weeks to identify where I'm going wrong if I'm starting to gain.

To lose I've made permanent changes in stages over the 18 months. 1) stopped having pre-made food and cooked sauces etc from scratch to lose the first half a stone.
2) stopped having meat (I do eat fish and occasionally have meat on celebration days and if I don't like the other options when I'm out) lost the next half a stone
3) dry jan and then cut out mid-week wine.

I generally have about 1600 a day. when I'm not breastfeeding, which is more than most on here. But I don't often eat out or have very high bad days. I think consistency works for me. Which I wouldn't manage if I was doing anything too restrictive.

neverenoughchelseboots · 22/03/2022 04:06

I should add that I average 10,000 steps a day and was one of the few people that lockdown suited. There was always biscuits, doughnuts and cake being brought into the office so they naturally got cut out.

morningmaeve · 22/03/2022 07:25

It took a long time to lose the weight @busybeeee222 - probably around 2lb a month on average. I am post menopausal though and losing weight is way harder now than I found it when I was younger. Just don't get disheartened as it takes longer for shorter people to lose weight in my experience - getting a calorie deficit is tougher.

I was under 9stone for a while but it's been creeping up again. Today I'm eating:
B 1/2 avocado on toast
L Soup and oatcakes
D Cod, boiled potatoes (a few!) and peas
No snacks. Plus a long walk.

Like @neverenoughchelseboots I don't religiously calorie count but I do use MyFitnessPal to see where I'm at generally. I always do better in the week. My downfall is my weekend wine habit

Sooverthemill · 22/03/2022 07:49

Oh good I've missed so much, apologies it's been a very hard couple of weeks. Will read back

WellTidy · 22/03/2022 11:10

Welcome @busybeeee222

I am 46, 5 foot 1 and weighed in at 9st 8.25lb this morning. My high of last year was 10st 13.5lb, and I got down to 9st 3lb. Then fell off the wagon (stopped recording calories on my fitness pal and fell of this thread, both of which keep me accountable) and started off this year at 10st 5lb. I calorie count, but make sure I have the same dinner as the family in the evenings, just a smaller portion than they have. My aim is to be be under 9stone for a beach holiday at the end of May, but I have yo-yo-ed for about a month now and this is looking unlikely.

I am just looking to keep losing, really. I would love to be in the mid 8 stones but I will just take all progress.

Today:

Walked for two hours
B - almond croissant
L - cheddar and rocket roll
D - Thai green chicken curry with green beans and rice

WellTidy · 22/03/2022 11:12

Should say that I try to keep under 1400 calories a day, and I don’t eat my exercise calories. I can see from MFP that I have a blow out maybe once a month, most recent one was last Saturday (an astonishing 2700 calories consumed).

SwimmingOnEggshells · 22/03/2022 12:42

Hi @Raindancer411 and @busybeeee222 it's lovely to have new shorties on board.

I'm 5'0 and I started at 9 stone 8 a year and a half ago, got down to 8 stone 6 and now I'm hovering around 8'10-12. I'm great midweek with soups and dinner and not drinking but I seem to be a complete disaster on the weekends which consistently sets me back. I'm no diet role model that's for sure!

@Knittingnanny2 the skyline looks so impressive, happy holiday!

Hello ladies. Can anyone tell me how many calories you're eating a day to steadily lose weight?

I'm 5 foot 2 and 11 stone and I'm unsure how many I should be eating for my height. Is 1600 calories too much for a steady weight loss?

Thanks ladies!

WellTidy · 22/03/2022 17:57

Hello. I’m eating 1300-1400 calories a day at 5 foot 1, 46yo and 9st 8lb. My TDEE is estimated at less than 1400 calories so I don’t eat my exercise calories.

Chocolatefreak · 22/03/2022 18:18

@UmbrellaTime I'm 5 foot 1, 51 years old and aiming for 1200 -1400 calories a day. This is usually fairly easy unless I fall off the wagon, like today, when I ate a whole bar of chocolate - about 700 calories Blush

My triggers are stress-related; at the moment I have a deadline looming, which always makes me head straight for the sweet stuff!

Sooverthemill · 22/03/2022 18:31

I don't calorie count. I just eat less

Knittingnanny2 · 23/03/2022 09:35

Hi ladies it’s SIS here! Having a few hours off childcare and visiting Sentosa Island on the cable car and just enjoying a Diet Coke whilst Mrknittingnanny Google’s the nearest food court!
So do you remember my “ holiday knickers” routine? Previous thread for the lovely new ladies
Well it’s a bit embarrassing as the house “ helpers” ( maids) keep asking for my laundry! Will they think I don’t wear any knickers or that I’ve only worn one pair so far for 7 days? I e put them off for now and will try to sneak out washing into the machine when they are not looking
The maids make beautiful food, clean the house, do the childcare, shopping, walk the dog, do all of the laundry including making the beds. I know that’s what happens here for ex pats but it makes me feel very very uncomfortable, I keep asking them if they would like a cup of tea!

Sooverthemill · 23/03/2022 11:43

@Knittingnanny2 I couldn’t cope either. But what luxury. Treat it it as if you are in a hotel maybe? Looks beautiful

SwimmingOnEggshells · 23/03/2022 14:38

That sand looks so amazing @Knittingnanny2. I would feel the same too. My husband has similar issues, but he's worse than me, he even dislikes going to fancy restaurants because they top up your glass etc and it makes him feel all awkward and uncomfortable :)
