Glad it’s not just me . I find it hard to reconcile the two different lives my eldest has experienced, the basic not much money for extras 1980’s upbringing with hand me downs to this very very high powered career and extravagant lifestyle he has now! I feel like I’m in a parallel universe!
Did lots of walking in the heat today so hopefully have compensated for the extra calories

SwimmingOnEggshells · 23/03/2022 15:28

You must be so proud of him @Knittingnanny2, I remember my dad saying one of his wishes was that we are comfortable financially when we grow up. My parents struggled so much in the 80s as well, apart from the banger we drove I was fairly oblivious to it all!

Diet is going ok here but as usual no progress, no idea what on earth is going on? Coffee for breakfast, soup for lunch + 4 x ryvita with carrot dip. Dinner is barbecued chicken with cous cous and an avocado and tomato salad. So far I've resisted chocolate and I had nothing after dinner last night.

WellTidy · 23/03/2022 15:38

Oh I’d be fine with it GrinGrinGrin

What’s their address?!

Pommelegible · 23/03/2022 15:50

@Chocolatefreak purely vanity for me. That and none of my clothes fit properly.

@CloseYourMouthLynn I don’t eat any specific food, just try to limit my snacks and eat slightly smaller portions. I’ve completely lost my love of cooking at the moment so breakfast and lunch are very simple: weetabix, porridge or toast for breakfast and usually a sandwich or leftovers for lunch. Blush Basically all the carbs!

Dinners the last few days have been beef stew, vegetable makhani with rice and roti, carbonara, roast chicken, noodles with stir fried veg. I don’t eat puddings often, maybe twice a week at most but do eat a lot of chocolate which I am trying to cut down a bit

Raindancer411 · 23/03/2022 16:00

I think I have had a good day today...

B: Banana, Cheerios and yoghurt
L: Eggs on toast
D: Chicken breast fried in a flavour paper with salad

Maybe as a treat a chocolate bar later. I have been walking and in the garden today so think I deserve it. I have felt a bit wobbly so wonder if I haven't had enough for the breastfeeding my body requires.

On a downer I feel so bad as when I sit down i have a big roll of fat that sits on my thighs and I didn't have after my first pregnancy. Has anyone managed to get rid of theirs after pregnancy? Hoping it I can lose some of the extra stone I am carrying, it may go 😫

Knittingnanny2 · 24/03/2022 03:01

I can see Thai chicken curry being prepared for tonight...
Planning a day out of the sun today and a bit of swimming/splashing later when little ones are home from school and nursery although swimsuit hasn’t been worn since I was last here in 2019! I’m not a swimmer, the 4 year old will put me to shame.
I’ve got a stretchy maxi dress on today which doesn’t appear to be tooooo tight!
I’m very proud of him as of my next son who flipping lives in USA but I still secretly wish’s they were round the corner from me like son 3 and stepdaughters.
I haven’t had chocolate or crisps since I’ve been here so that’s a positive! Will report back later with a food report!
Still managing to avoid producing my dirty washing!

Chocolatefreak · 24/03/2022 09:47

Well, the last two days have been a disaster. Ate tons of chocolate the day before yesterday and sweets yesterday. Exercised but certainly not enough to burn off all those unnecessary calories I consumed.

Will try not to let it derail me, I was doing well, avoiding sweet stuff for a whole week before that, even primly refusing a bite of a pastry my son offered me!

@Pommelegible do you have items of clothing that you associate with your varying slimness? i have some things that I really only need to lose three kilos or so for, and others that I need to lose a lot more for. Being able to get into my denim jacket (it's tight on my arms) would be very encouraging.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 24/03/2022 10:49

@Chocolatefreak I think as long as we're willing to accept the slip-ups and have more good days than bad days then hopefully we should see success. I think as long as you're good 5/6 days out of 7 you should see results? I don't know, maybe I'm fooling myself because I've been stuck at 8 stone 11 for weeks and weeks.

Another ok day yesterday, stuck to my food plan and ate zero chocolate and treats. Today will be:
Coffee
Cous Cous salad
hoi sin pork belly with rice (this is probably v calorific, I'll cut off any excess fat).

Pommelegible · 24/03/2022 11:47

@Chocolatefreak definitely. More in summer clothes although I did get rid of a couple of jumpers that were tight on the arms. I have quite a few summer dresses that I used to feel great in but now feel like a blob.

Pommelegible · 24/03/2022 11:51

@Knittingnanny2 when I lived abroad we had a maid and I hated it. Did not allow her to do my laundry (but then she hated me using the machine!). I never really knew what to do with myself while she was cleaning, even now when the window cleaner comes or the boiler is being serviced etc I feel the need to look busy Blush

purplegirl13 · 24/03/2022 13:10

Lots to catch up on!

Welcome @busybeeee222 @UmbrellaTime
@Sooverthemill thinking of you and DD, I hope you are both managing to get some rest

@Knittingnanny2 I'm loving your photos and holiday updates :) no chocolate or crisps consumed so far?? Very impressive!

Unfortunately my IBD flare up is still brewing so I'm not focussing on weight loss at the moment. After a bad day yesterday, I didn't want to eat today so I've had a green tea, and miso soup so far. Dinner might be rice, and a fried egg

I have this afternoon off and I am booked in for a haircut. I've got freshly washed and dried hair (with no styling products in) and the hairdresser will do a 'curly girl' cut where they cut curl by curl. This is my first visit and I am fascinated to see what the end result will look like - at the moment I'm sporting a very bouffant-y triangle of frizzy hair!

Knittingnanny2 · 25/03/2022 03:16

@Chocolatefreak absolutely yes re the clothes. I think when you are relatively “ small” there is such a short window of wearing certain clothes depending on weight gain/loss. I’ve a lovely navy quilted padded winter jacket that fits me up to about 9 st 4lb, any bigger than that it goes to the back of the wardrobe. Most of my size 12 clothes fit well 9st-9 st 12 and my ( very few) size 10s come out in triumph if I dip below 9!

Knittingnanny2 · 25/03/2022 07:27

Can only afford iced tea in this mall! No prices displayed in the windows of Gucci Hermes Chopard Dior etc!
Still fitting in my SSS clothes so all is well
Mrknittingnanny has traced a friend from his navy days in the 70’s and is off to meet him for food later and I’m looking forward to what ever the helpers are making at home tonight!
Had some lovely Açai dessert last night, sort of icecream sorbet with extras......

Knittingnanny2 · 25/03/2022 07:28

Forgot the photo!

Sooverthemill · 25/03/2022 08:38

@Knittingnanny2 it sounds fab. My dad was stationed in Singapore in the 50s and he hated it! I’ve always been fascinated by it

So I am a fat blob. I have put on a skirt today which I bought 3 weeks ago and fitted beautifully and now it’s bulging. This is a good wake up call as I am very very self absorbed clothes wise and I know I need to get back on the wagon and eat less crap. So frustrating as a year ago I was probably 8 lbs less. Oh well I know I can do it

Knittingnanny2 · 25/03/2022 09:05

@Sooverthemill you can do it!
I wouldn’t want to live here I can’t cope with the heat, the expense, the maids etc. I’m only here because I want to see family, same as visiting New York
I’ve seen all of the lovely places in both of those places now
Unlike London where I still find something to see that I’ve not visited before

WellTidy · 25/03/2022 09:35

@Sooverthemill you will do it. You’ve real strength, I know you will do it.

@Knittingnanny2 I take my hat off to you on your discipline whilst on holiday. I’ve been known to gain half a stone in a week when I’m away. It’s booze, snacks, ice cream, bread and all the rest. It does come off relatively quickly afterwards but still. I bloat horrendously and go very red in the sun so never look my best when I’m away!

Today I am down to 9st 6.25lb (loss of 12.75lb this year) which matches my low of 2022 a couple of weeks ago. I’ve yo-yo-ed since so am determined to stay on the wagon until Easter. I’d like to be a few pounds lighter before I look through old beach/pool stuff (I’ve lost nothing from my arms or back) but I’m feeling positive.

Knittingnanny2 · 25/03/2022 10:19

But did you spot the cheesecake in the photo?!!

Knittingnanny2 · 25/03/2022 10:20

Talking of Easter...... I’m addicted to creme eggs even though most people seem to find the new Kraft recipe yukky!

Knittingnanny2 · 25/03/2022 10:59

@WellTidy I go bright red, and my bleached straightened hair is a frizzy mess! But it’s worth it to see my 3 little grandchildren and daddy

SwimmingOnEggshells · 25/03/2022 11:59

Quick check in to say 8 stone 12.5 here. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

OP posts:
Morningmaeve · 25/03/2022 13:38

Hello all. Nothing to report here - week wasn't great and I suspect weekend won't be either due to Mother's Day celebrations. Renewed focus from Monday!

WellTidy · 25/03/2022 14:19

@Knittingnanny2 I love crème eggs. The current ones too. At this time of year, I look at every treat and calculate what it’s equivalent would be in crème eggs. I was in Costa earlier and looked at the raspberry and almond slice thing. Realised that it was the calorie equivalent of two crème eggs and decided it wasn’t worth it! I had an Americano instead. I will have a crème egg later and feel virtuous for not having the raspberry and almond slice thing!!

Hope you have lovely weekends and Happy Mother’s Day to all, whether mothers or not. We are all badass Smile

Sooverthemill · 25/03/2022 17:55

Don't like crème eggs! DD had never had one until she was about 7 (?) and she saw a friends child eat one. The friend was astonished to learn she had never had one and drove off to the petrol station and got her a box of 6! I am a bad mother...

CloseYourMouthLynn · 25/03/2022 19:20

Hi everyone, well done to those who have had good weeks! Been rubbish here, me and my husband both have covid. I've not been able to get to the gym or do any exercise and supposed to be doing a 5k next weekend 😬 hope everyone has a nice weekend and mother's day. X
