hi @countydown1989 I love to dance around to alexa as well so you're in good company Grin

hey @Pommelegible I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter. Anorexia is so so scary. A diagnosis is a good start though, I know two different women who had anorexia for many years and their families completely ignored it. She's lucky you're on the ball with it.

For what it's worth I don't think your tummy is bad at all :)

Thank you@SwimmingOnEggshells. Objectively it’s not massive. But none of my clothes fit right and I have skinny arms and legs, small breasts and then the spare tyre. I think I’d feel better if I’d put on weight all over. My plan is to be mindful of the snacking and try to discreetly reduce my portion size (without dd noticing). Portion size is easier for me mentally! Also I want to try to get back into walking more and maybe doing a bit more yoga again, I used to do it daily if only for 10-20 minutes but haven’t been able to find the headspace recently so have only been doing a weekly class.

I might also measure myself and focus on that rather than weight, has that worked for anyone?

Weelegs29 · 15/03/2022 18:17

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! Its inspiring to read about the losses you have all had and i'm hopeful that my journey can be as successful. I'm currently calorie counting at 1500 per day and being mindful of protein intake primarily. I have a holiday coming up in just over 6 weeks so I'm setting a target of half a stone and telling you all so it will hopefully help make me accountable. Updates to follow!

WellTidy · 15/03/2022 18:58

Had a bloody awful blow out of a day. Between today and the crème eggs yesterday, I’m having the mother of all shockers.

I’m up to 1600 calories today and it’s mostly sugar in the form of Krispy kreme donuts.

Long walk planned for tomorrow morning before the rain is forecast to come and starting afresh. Might give the daily weigh-in a miss!

WellTidy · 15/03/2022 19:00

Welcome @Chocolatefreak and welcome back @Pommelegible Smile

melmos · 15/03/2022 19:04

Hi all hope you are ok. Stayed the same weight this morning. Just a quick check into say it's not quite the great start I was hoping for - first day back in the office for a while and I ended up going to the pub at lunch (salmon and fries oops) plus wine and then more wine this evening. Will try and skip dinner

Lovely to see you supporting your daughter through such a heart breaking disease @Pommelegible

CloseYourMouthLynn · 15/03/2022 19:12

Hi, please may I join? I'm 5 foot 1 and had my second baby in November. I'm down to 8 stone 13 through some calorie counting and running, I've signed up for a 10k race for life in May 🤦. I'd like to lose another stone to be at my happy weight, but my metabolism is so slow now and I'm on mat leave and having too many lunches and cakes. Anyway, nice to meet fellow shorties who understand, even a pound makes such a difference on us, I envy tall people!

neverenoughchelseboots · 15/03/2022 19:46

So nice to have all these new shorties. Especially with a name as excellent as @CloseYourMouthLynn. I once saw someone had 'You'veGotTenMinutesLynn' and it made me smile.

@Weelegs29 I also have a holiday in 6 weeks and looking to lose half a stone so you have company. I think maybe welltidy has too, but I could be wrong.

@Knittingnanny2 so glad to hear you're negative. One more sleep! I'm excited for you. You must be itching to see them after all this time.

CloseYourMouthLynn · 15/03/2022 19:52

@neverenoughchelseboots, ha thanks, it was a toss up between that or chill out babe.love.lynn.
Thanks for the welcome, you seem like a supportive bunch. Losing weight is hard when short.
What sort of stuff does everyone eat in a day? Im bored with omlettes and salads and looking for inspiration! I just had an m&s count on us meal and am going to bed to resist the urge to drink red wine/eat chocolate.
Sorry to hear about your daughter @Pommelegible, my niece has an eating disorder and it's very tough on the whole family. Hope she's doing okay.

WellTidy · 15/03/2022 19:53

Yea, we are going to Crete for May half term. I am really really hoping to be under 9stone for then (I’d need to lose a pound a week to do that, which is looking less likely given the couple of days I’ve had, and there is Easter to come) but it would be sooooo nice. And I should be able to fit into so many of my summer addresses at that weight which would make me very happy indeed. I’ve been spending g a fortune in new clothes each season as my weight has gone up, which I’m cross about, as I have loads of clothes that I don’t fit into. But at under 9 stone, I would have a lovely choice of summer stuff. An incentive!

Welcome @CloseYourMouthLynn and congrats on the new arrival.

CloseYourMouthLynn · 15/03/2022 19:56

@WellTidy, thank you. Hoping he sleeps tonight, was up every two hours last night 🥴

Good luck with the loss in time for holiday, Crete is a lovely incentive!

WellTidy · 15/03/2022 19:57

@CloseYourMouthLynn Normally, I eat the same food as I always did, really, just smaller portions of it. I need to model a healthy attitude to food as I have a 14yo DS who eats everything but also a 9yo DS with a good intake disorder. I cook a family meal for me, Ds1 and DH and just have a smaller portion than they do. Tonight we had fajitas, and I just had one wrap but masses of filling (chicken, four different colour peppers and red onion, with dry spices, no cheese). It works for me.

WellTidy · 15/03/2022 19:58

Good intake disorder = food intake disorder!

CloseYourMouthLynn · 15/03/2022 20:07

@WellTidy, what is a food intake disorder if you don't mind me asking? I have massively reduced portion sizes too so am definitely at a calorie deficit but it doesn't seem to have made a huge difference so far. Well done on resisting cheese, that would be my downfall for sure.

Knittingnanny2 · 15/03/2022 20:34

@neverenoughchelseboots thank you- haven’t seen the twins since they were 4 months old they are now 2 1/2 and toddler is now 4 so a lot of cuddles will be had. As I think I’ve said before one of the twins is profoundly disabled with a rare genetic syndrome but with excellent physio has taken his first steps and feeds himself, turns pages in a book, takes part in nursery school activities etc. Not sure whether he will ever live independently but is obviously at the milder end as most never even sit up and crawl! I’m so looking forward to reading him stories as he loves books apparently. I’m taking a suitcase of books and knitted topsy turvy Cinderella and red riding hood for granddaughter. Other twin is mad about cars so that’s easily sorted, I’ve taken the batteries out of the light and sound icecream van in case it causes an airplane drama!
Whilst I’m excited about that, Mrknittingnanny is excitedly looking forward to his on board meals! We are flying Singapore airlines and as he is Asian he has high hopes of nice food.
I don’t want to burst his bubble by reminding him we are in the cheap seats and will get what we are given!

WellTidy · 15/03/2022 21:00

Happy to explain! Ds2 has Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder ARFID and classic autism (autism with learning disabilities). It is more than being a ‘picky eater’, he is incredibly restrictive about what he eats, tastes, touches etc. For example, he eats sausages, but only chipolatas. He eats biscuits, but only bourbons. He eats crisps, but only walkers cheese and onion etc. It makes travelling and eating out with him really difficult. I also have to shop at different shops as eg he won’t eat bourbons from sainsburys, cookies have to be from Waitrose, cocktail sausages have to be from M&S etc. I live in fear of shops discontinuing ranges and him getting even narrower.

He keeps us on our toes as even within the ARFID profile, he is spikey. He easily tolerates anyone eating anything around him, will eat off any bowl/plate and will eat (with heavy restriction) from every food group. This is unusual within ARFID, but of course it could all change!

CloseYourMouthLynn · 15/03/2022 21:10

@WellTidy, goodness that all sounds stressful and so much for you to think about I'm sure. I like his taste in crisps though!

Knittingnanny2 · 15/03/2022 21:19

@welltidy my youngest now 30 was a resistant eater from 8 months to about 19 years. Had a list of about 8 beige foods, nothing could touch, couldn’t bear anything messy around his mouth, never complained of hunger etc. He was fairly healthy although small, had baby teeth til he was 12 and suffered quite badly with constipation. Holidays were a nightmare, I had to take food with me for him. He was seen by many specialists but there was no answer! He coped at uni by catering g for himself and the Christmas he was 19 ate a fairly normal Christmas dinner although no gravy. That was a major break through. He enjoys cooking and now has a much wider variety in his diet although some foods are still a no no. If I ever mention the past he claims he was nt that bad! He’s a healthy weight and height now and fit and active so I probably worried unnecessarily for 19 years! It was incredibly difficult to live with though.
Like you I lived in fear of one of his list items being discontinued or out of stock.

TrulyMadlyBaby · 15/03/2022 22:18

I need to join!
My weight went up during lockdown and although its stabilised now I want to lose the weight I've put on.
I will weigh myself over the next few days so I can join in properly but I'm hoping this will keep me motivated and accountable

neverenoughchelseboots · 16/03/2022 07:11

@CloseYourMouthLynn I wouldn't say I eat like I'm dieting, that has the opposite effect for me and I eat more because it's on my mind.

I started at 10st 7lbs in November 2019 and got down to 8st 10lb by March 2021 (then got pregnant. Currently 9st 7, 4 months pp).

The things that made a difference for me were only having wine at weekend, cutting our meat and cooking everything fresh. Also I very rarely eat out. I have a theory that meals out is what scuppers a lot of people because they're just so calorific - hence why they taste different to home cooking I guess. There's just no way we'd put a knob of butter that big in, that sort of thing.

Anyway yesterday I had cereal and berries for breakfast, a cheese and salad sandwich, packet of wotsits and fibre one chocolate bake for lunch. Then salmon, green lentils and roast tomatoes for dinner.

I did eat 6 custard creams and a scone with jam as snacks, which I wouldn't usually have in the house but I'm breastfeeding and still need those little boosts. I've massively cut down though - I started on a full packet of bourbons per day!

Morningmaeve · 16/03/2022 08:18

I've been watching The Great British Menu and I agree with you @neverenoughchelseboots - the amount of butter/cream they use is incredible. No wonder it is hard to replicate restaurant food at home. As I've said I've lost just over a stone and I credit smaller portions, less/no snacking and reducing carbs. As soon as I take my eye off the ball my weight goes up though - annoying result of being short and post-menopausal.

Today's plan is mushrooms on toast, soup (bottom-of-fridge leftovers if you are asking @purplegirl13 Smile ) with oatcakes, and vegetarian chilli with small portion of rice. I'm also stricter during the week and give myself more of a break at the weekend

Knittingnanny2 · 16/03/2022 08:28

Bon voyage everyone! Paperwork for Singapore was ok and we are through check in
Just eating an almond croissant......

WellTidy · 16/03/2022 08:48

Save me a bit @Knittingnanny2 Smile

Knittingnanny2 · 16/03/2022 08:59

It’s all gone xxx my knitting needles and emergency oats bars went through security ok so I’m starting to relax!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 16/03/2022 09:20

Have a great trip @Knittingnanny2!

So many lovely trips coming up - where are you going skiing @neverenoughchelseboots and where in Crete are you going @WellTidy? I love Greece and I'm going again this year but I've never been to Crete. I love Greece so much I'm actually learning Greek in my spare time. I have notions of retiring there Grin

My weight is back up today which is very frustrating. I've been eating so well during the week that this is killing me. Yesterday I had coffee, 4 cream crackers with a little bit of spreadable butter, chowder soup, bean burritos for dinner and two freddos. Maybe I should be cutting out the Freddos?? Ugh.

waves at @CloseYourMouthLynn @TrulyMadlyBaby Smile hello and welcome
