Hi ladies can I join? I am 5ft and have gained a stone since the first lockdown, and I can't seem to lose it. I am 9 stone at the moment which isn't that heavy but I carry it all on my tummy and my chin and would just love to get down to my pre lockdown weight and back into my old clothes.

I've just been to the gym, had a low ish carb dinner and made a vat of vegetable curry for the week so hoping this thread can keep me on track

neverenoughchelseboots · 14/03/2022 21:11

Hey @Weelegs29 and @melmos, it's nice to have new shorties amongst us.

@Weelegs29 some of us have been on this thread for almost two years and still making gradual but sustainable progress, so hopefully we can help. It's definitely not about crash diets. A while ago some people showed their trend lines from a graph and they were really impressive, even if week by week progress seems slow.

@melmos that's exactly why we exist. You said I'm 9stone and want to get to 8 in most groups and are met with an eye roll.

neverenoughchelseboots · 14/03/2022 21:12

Keeping everything crossed for you @Knittingnanny2. How annoying to not be able to properly look forward to your trip until you know.

melmos · 14/03/2022 22:10

Thank you so much and nice to e- meet you all!!

Knittingnanny2 · 14/03/2022 22:25

I’ve honestly never felt so stressed before about anything. This surpasses Ofsted inspections, dentist visits, escaping an abusive husband with two toddlers and a car load of belongings even
I cannot believe how much complicated stuff is needed in digital form and paper form, all cross referenced etc. My suitcase has been ready for 2 weeks, I won’t be unpacking it if I test positive and can’t go Wednesday
I’ve warned mr knittingnanny that if he attempts to make a joke and tells me his email says he is positive if it’s not, he will be living the rest of his life in the shed
I’m hoping that this worry may have helped me lose a few pounds but tomorrow is grandson no 1 12 th birthday with cake socially distanced in the garden
Thank you for all your good luck messages, my travel plans are ridiculously insignificant in the big scheme of life when I think about Ukraine x

Knittingnanny2 · 14/03/2022 22:26

Hello new ladies!

Morningmaeve · 15/03/2022 07:09

Hello @melmos and @Weelegs29 and welcome. I've lost around a stone while on this thread. Now around 9 stone but struggling to go any lower - I'm 5ft 2in. Concentrating on my c25k efforts at the moment and cutting down on my treat of choice - wine. Hope everything goes well @Knittingnanny2 - so much stress is only worth it to see family. Sounds like way too much effort for a holiday.

WellTidy · 15/03/2022 07:26

Welcome @Weelegs29 and @melmos

I started the year off at 10st 5lb and am now 9st 7.5lb. I’m 5 foot 1. Hoping to get to around 8st 8lb but at the moment, I’d be delighted to get under my low of last year which was 9st 3.5lb. I dropped off this thread and stopped logging my calories and exercise in the my fitness pal app and I then put on over a stone Blush

I try and walk most weekdays, listening to podcasts as I go. That, logging on MFP and this thread all helps keep me accountable Smile

@Knittingnanny2 it’s stressful because it means so much Flowers

Knittingnanny2 · 15/03/2022 08:03

Phew negative results so I can relax a bit now but won’t be completely certain of actually being able to see my family til I’m on that plane Wednesday.
Then I shall update you with the “Singapore adventures of a shortie abroad trying not to burst out of her clothes”!

purplegirl13 · 15/03/2022 08:14

I'll be back later to update and post. Just quickly coming on here to say I'm glad your results are negative @Knittingnanny2

Nearly there...

Knittingnanny2 · 15/03/2022 08:28

@Morningmaeve morning to my diet twin, I’m going to concentrate on my cutting out my current treat of choice- dairylea crackers, which I found in the stepdaughters fridge when I was last round doing childcare! They are so delicious but ridiculously calorific. @neverenoughchelseboots I also really like the 12month+ plus part apple and raspberry bars......

Knittingnanny2 · 15/03/2022 08:35

I will start the day healthily with my overnight oats but have a takeaway later as I’ve emptied the fridge!
When we come back I’m going to go back to writing everything down that I eat in my little black notebook for accountability and get back on track.
I’m having a broken tooth out under sedation when I get back a d they said they need to weigh me.....

Chocolatefreak · 15/03/2022 09:32

Hi, can I join? I'm 5.1 and the heaviest I've ever been, at 10.2 stone, 65 kilos. It went on in lockdown and hasn't shifted. Exercise-wise, I go on long walks at least a couple of times week, and yoga once. Trying to do a bit of yoga every day and commit to walking every day, with the aim to start running again when a bit lighter. I want to get down to my ideal weight of 50 kg (7.8 stone) but would be content with 53 (8.2). I'm aware this may take a few months. Snacking is my downfall - I hit the biscuits in the afternoon and if there's chocolate in the house it has to be eaten all at once!

I suppose my real motivation is to get back into all my clothes - the selection I can fit into is slowly diminishing!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 15/03/2022 09:34

Best of luck in the dentist's @Knittingnanny2, and great news about the negative test. Crossing all fingers and toes for you for tomorrow.

@neverenoughchelseboots that sounds tough, hopefully he starts to get a bit better now x

Hello@melmos and @Weelegs29! Im 5'0, I started at about 9 stone 10 I think, I'm a stone or so lighter now but I had lost more and I've put a bit back on again. Falling off the thread = falling off eating well! I had been exercising loads but weirdly I wasn't losing. I think maybe I eat more when I'm exercising?

Yesterday I didn't go off piste too badly (skiing reference for the skiers on here!) I had: coffeee, banana, 2 x chocolate rice cakes, soup, pot roast with lots of veg, 2 x freddos. I just can't seem to cut out chocolate completely.

Similar planned for today: coffee, soup, banana, bean burritos with brown rice. Small amount of chocolate likely to find it's way in there.

@WellTidy you've had an iron clad willpower so I wouldn't go too hard on yourself on the crème eggs.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 15/03/2022 09:37

@Chocolatefreak another welcome to you too. I would also love to get down that low but I've been at this dieting thing a year and a half on and off and I've only lost a stone. Try not to set too extreme goals and you might have more success. I try to watch my food mid-week and ease off on the weekend.

OP posts:
Chocolatefreak · 15/03/2022 09:48

@SwimmingOnEggshells thanks for the welcome. You're right, attempting to lose two stone is a lot..I also think being perimenopausal is making it harder. I've often gone up and down by 5 kilos or so but this time it's just gone up and up. My main aim is to have more self control with the snacking, any tips?

Glad to have found a weight-loss group for short women, it's amazing how much more, proportionately, even a slight amount of weight gain affects us...

SwimmingOnEggshells · 15/03/2022 09:56

What seems to work for me are soups for lunch, only drink on the weekends, try not to snack in the evenings. I don't cut anything out altogether. I also try to accept the slow and steady approach and I'm not too hard on myself :)

Knittingnanny2 · 15/03/2022 10:23

@Chocolatefreak hello! I could easily be called knittingnanny2chocolatefreak! Try breaking your loss down to half stone goals.
Re the snacking I’m afraid that the only thing that works for me is just not having them and knitting instead. I think I’m actually a binge snacker. I bought 3 packets of dairylea crackers( 5x2 in each box, to take on the airplane tomorrow ( in case the food onboard runs out!) and last night I ate one box so ten crackers which was 550 calories. If they hadn’t been in the house I wouldn’t have had anything. Mrknittingnanny can of course just eat one and then stop

Chocolatefreak · 15/03/2022 10:45

@Knittingnanny2 nice to meet a fellow binge snacker. I have a husband and son with self control too, most infuriating, because they will insist on buying these types of things, because they can resist them!

Have a good trip!

Knittingnanny2 · 15/03/2022 11:00

Well strangely enough, Mrknittingnanny who is super fit, exercises like a 20 year old ( he’s 67) looks 20 years younger than he is, eats egg whites, avocados, apple cider vinegar, plates ful of kale and broccoli, can make a tin of Christmas chocolates last til Easter, is not overweight etc...... is now on statins as his cholesterol is far too high as is his blood pressure! So there definitely isn’t a health benefit going on there with his diet.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 15/03/2022 11:05

That's funny @Knittingnanny2 because my husband is the same - so thin, so much self control, yet he has high cholesterol. He was once told that people with his build - skinny - tend to have high cholesterol. So strange.

OP posts:
Chocolatefreak · 15/03/2022 11:18

@Knittingnanny2 @SwimmingOnEggshells my husband and son are also tall and slim. My husband doesn't eat particularly healthily but he has restraint, so for example he can eat cake one day and then not the next to compensate. He doesn't even really exercise but still appears to be fitter than me when we do our (outdoor) hobby together! Annoying.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 15/03/2022 11:28

Very annoying! One good thing about it is that I think it keeps a lid on my eating to a degree. I know if he was as bad as me or worse I'd have no hope!

Hello all. I am lost with the thread and can't read through it all in my lunch break time and have two crazy kids once I get home. But I am joining 😃 I am 5'2 and started at 9 stone 6 a few weeks ago and with calorie counting I weighed in at 9 stone yesterday. 1200 is the goal but have had a few 1500 days and one or two 1900 days which according to Fitbit is my maintenance but I think it's more like 1800.
I am hoping for 8 stone 7 but I haven't ever been close to that but it's always been a goal. Closest to that was 8 stone 10.
I haven't been very motivated to do any exercise but do regularly hit 10k due to my job and kids. I like to dance about the kitchen too with Alexa on.
I have a few weekends away and meals out coming up which I can't wait for but really don't want to ruin my progress! First one up is an Indian meal out this weekend - I'm thinking tandoor chicken which comes with salad and Bombay potatoes?! Nice to join you all

Pommelegible · 15/03/2022 14:37

Hi everyone. I was on the first thread way back when (under a different name) but fell off the wagon massively. My daughter was diagnosed with anorexia so I had to normalise eating big portions and fats and puddings etc for her. This combined with having to drive the school run since she went back to school because she’s still not meant to do any activity has made me pile on the weight and I now look like this. It’s only 6/7 kg but it’s all on my torso. I’m hungry all the time since I’ve been following her meal plan so cutting down the snacking is going to be hard!
