Here is the new thread for tomorrow.

I am taking my starting weight as the weight as yesterday's weight, 9st1.75, same as beginning of February. Its been a bit of a tricky month for various reasons, so hoping to do a bit better in March.

@swallowedAfly - high five! Well done.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses - bummer. I've had covid twice. It's a nuisance. Hope you're not too poorly.

LBB2020 · 23/03/2022 07:26

Sorry to hear you have Covid @Judystilldreamsofhorses, hope its mild.
Amazing @swallowedAfly well done!
Not the best but not the worst start to the week, last day of the week working so hopefully can get out in the sunshine and get some steps in from tomorrow! Water is my biggest downfall, I get to around 3pm and realise all I’ve drank is a cup of coffee! Also I’m terrible at making myself lunch, I’ll end up just picking on a couple of snacks then being starving later in the afternoon and eating more snacky rubbish Blush

QueenMabby · 23/03/2022 07:27

Morning all. Weigh in Wednesday for me today. 9st 11.6lb. So a reduction of 1.6lb from last week but still 1.4lb heavier than my lowest this month.

I'm finding this really frustrating. I may have to go back to tracking my calories as I really don't feel like I'm eating very much at all and yet I'm not really losing weight in the way I would expect. I hate tracking calories!!

Octopus37 · 23/03/2022 07:51

@QueenMabby hang on in there, you will probably have a woosh.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses how are you feeling? Hope your symptoms are mild.

@swallowedAfly that is amazing, bet you are counting down the days until your holiday now.

Posted too soon. I didn't weigh this morning. Water okish and steps not too bad. Food a bit stodgy though. Realize that I'm starting to sound like a broken record, will get a grip at some point.

QueenMabby · 23/03/2022 07:57

Thanks @Octopus37
I've gone back into my tracking app (I use MyNetDiary) and a daily calorie target of 1606 should give me a weekly weight loss of 1/2lb (setting the bar low here for hopefully easier success!).
Will report back.

CharlieBubbles88 · 23/03/2022 09:02

@QueenMabby tracking is the only thing that works for me. I hated it to begin with but I love it now. It's incredible how many meals I can have for low cals. It also blew my mind how low and ridiculously high other things were when I didn't pay attention. Last night I had steak, 600g mushrooms in porcini sauce, cauli mash and asparagus. I couldn't even finish it and have left overs for lunch

NutellaEllaElla · 23/03/2022 11:48

Hi everyone, i've been back on the wagon for a couple fo weeks now following my birthday and holidays in February/ the beginning of March. My weight has been all over the place, up, down, up and back down 4lbs since Monday last week! Maybe that's a period thing, there was some alcohol involved too.

I'm trying to fix the social eating problem. Last weekend I managed to avoid binging and only had one meal a day when I did have a lot in one sitting (which is a bit miserable tbh but I wasn't actually hungry and i'm trying to avoid eating when bored/ because of habit).

This weekend I have 3 meals out to navigate. This is my blimmin' cryptonite. My plan is to google the menu and pre plan where possible, maybe one meal a day when I do have 3 courses, not to abandon calorie counting, no high cal starters, no burger and chips. I still want dessert. I still want to enjoy myself but I don't want to blow it. If anyone has any advice, i'd love to hear it.

I'll go back and catch up with everyone's progress now.

CharlieBubbles88 · 23/03/2022 12:05

My strategy is healthy in the week and have what I want at the weekend, within reason. Almost calorie budgeting!

NutellaEllaElla · 23/03/2022 12:36

I'd love to say fuck it on the weekends but I worry that I will wipe out my whole week's deficit. It's so easy to do with meals out.

My sister is a qualified PT and said weight loss isn't linear, to expect fluctuations and just use scales as a rough guide. You may have lost 'inches' but be holding fluid or food. If not their is quite possibly something silly that's holding you back. You might be eating too much or not enough of something. I thought I was pretty healthy until I tracked calories and realised how much I was consuming, non alcoholic drinks was a big one!

Weighed today, not enough steps yesterday, but 9st1.75 so I'm ok with that. Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses how are you? Hope you're starting to feel better.

OP posts:
QueenMabby · 24/03/2022 08:40

@Allaboutthebooks - I'm with you. Similar weight and sooooo frustrated. Like @CharlieBubbles88 I tracked yesterday. Ate normally. Just over 1500 calories. Why am I gaining weight???

Echoing @Octopus37 - hope you're feeling ok @Judystilldreamsofhorses

CharlieBubbles88 · 24/03/2022 09:33

@QueenMabby Might be a stupid question but are you tracking and weighing absolutely everything? Drinks, sauces, condiments, veg? For me it was things like 'oh I'm a bit peckish I'll just have a slice of cheese' and not counting things like stir fry sauces or the mayo I had on the side of a meal
Also do you know roughly what you are burning? TDEE and BMR? I think people massively underestimate what they consume and over estimate what they burn. I did over 15km yesterday, 90 minutes of full on yoga and an arm workout and didn't even burn 2,400 (which is a lot but a lot of activity) If I was consuming the guideline 2,000 a day that wouldn't even equate to a lb a week

CharlieBubbles88 · 24/03/2022 09:34

Also are you getting enough sleep? That and stress can impact weight loss too. Lots of factors to take into consideration!

QueenMabby · 24/03/2022 10:21

Thank you @CharlieBubbles88. Yes - logged everything. Even the mayo with dinner and milk in my (one!) coffee.

Drank 2l + of water too and nearly 12k steps. No gym as Wednesday is my rest day. I gym four times a week if I can (aim for min 3 though) but only 30 mins - weights. I ignore any calories I may burn here as it's v minimal (Apple Watch says less than 200). I find cardio makes me ravenous and then I eat it all back (and then some) so stick to walking.

BMR is just under 1300 according to my food app. TDEE calculator says my maintenance calories (based on light active - I don't have an office job) are 1866. Will keep plugging away.

I sleep ok but am peri menopausal (am 46) so hormones may be a factor. Oh for the days when cutting out wine and pudding for a month meant I'd lose a pound a week!

CharlieBubbles88 · 24/03/2022 10:41

In that case I have no suggestions as it sounds like you've got it all covered and are doing all the right things. It's so frustrating isn't it! Keep plugging away and hopefully you'll see some results soon. Even if it's slow your lifestyle sounds really healthy which is the main thing. I'd like to give weights a try but I hate the gym with a passion. Saying that I have noticed quite a bit of toning and feel stronger from yoga so at least that's something

Hello, just popping in to say I am still alive! Covid is rubbish. I can’t taste of smell which is making me ravenous, it is all so strange. I haven’t been weighing but hopefully I will be past it soon. Bleurgh. Hope everyone is doing okay.

QueenMabby · 24/03/2022 18:40

@Judystilldreamsofhorses - glad you're surviving! Don't worry about the food - just look after yourself. It'll be the work of a week or so to get back into your usual eating pattern when you're well.

@Allaboutthebooks - I'm a bit taller than you (5' 7") but otherwise v similar! I spent a few years at just under 9 stone and even though I lost the weight because I was ill I still struggle with being bigger now even though I'm healthier. Somewhere between 9st 4 and 9st 7 would be lovely!

@CharlieBubbles88 - have finished eating for today now. Logged everything and it comes to 1,456 calories. 13k steps so far. I really hope I see a downwards trend soon - am fed up of yo-yoing the same 2lb!!

Octopus37 · 25/03/2022 08:07

I didn't weigh in this morning, but had pizza at Wetherspoons last night. Doing okish with water and steps at the moment.

QueenMabby · 25/03/2022 08:46

I'm interested @Octopus37 - you maintain your weight v well. Are you in maintenance phase now? How do you maintain - it's always been the bit I find hardest!!
