1lb a week …

BrambleRoses · 17/01/2022 19:56

So … anyone want to join me?

1lb a week. So no pressure. There may be some weeks we don’t lose but then we may lose 2 the next week. Achievable.

I’ve just gone through my phone and if I lose 1lb a week, every week … I’ll be 9 stone by 24 October!

I’ve failed in the past because I have been too rigid and then broken it. So this time I’m deliberately going for slow.

Start weight - 12 stone.

Just re-read and it sounds like i am doing a liquid fast. i plan to eat as well! (I am a binger and so I am hoping to 'eat like a normal person' which is another thing that goes out the window when I have a glass of wine!).

Hi all I've come back to this thread and read your progress a few times.

Last year on Feb 1st I decided to tackle my weight as I was heading towards a size I didn't want to be. I'm peri menopausal early 50's.

Just wanted to say, about the scales thing, my weight fluctuates daily.

I've read this is normal, so say you have a dedicated weigh in day, you might not 'lose' on that particular day.

The day before or the day after you might see the change.
Or if you're doing this slowly, like I have been the last year you might feel you're not progressing at all in certain weeks.

They say, oh don't weigh daily but honestly, if you do it for a week you might well see how your weight fluctuates.
So I guess I'm saying don't be put off or afraid of the scales.
In my experience, I've tried to go yeah whatever, 😆 over the weeks, as long as I'm slowly losing.

I'm 16 lbs down over the year. Started at 11.6.

I'm going to get on the scales now.
My one year weigh in!!!!

Oh and I'd like to get to 9st 10. I'm 10st 4.

MarianneFaithful · 01/02/2022 07:58

I'd like to join please. 2021 was a terrible year for me and I chocolated my way through it. I'll post my stats later.

BelladiMamma · 01/02/2022 08:03
@BelladiMamma, well, it's ok. I actually had the same Tuesday. Thought I'd had a good week. Was expecting a pound at least but I stayed the same. Just keep doing your best. It will happen. Don't forget you're feeling lighter, and clothes feel looser.
Ok so not sure why but I was still feeling lighter, weighed myself and now I've lost 2 lbs 🤔

Because I don't know how I did it or what changed I'll just take this as 'a stop on the journey' but it gets me closer to 10 stone.

My goal is to be 9st 4 but getting to 10 seems to be so hard.

Lemonweightloss · 01/02/2022 08:43

@BelladiMamma, thanks for that. It really does make sense. Well done on your loss so far. I wonder if I don't like weighing myself because I don't trust it. I don't own scales but I bet if I weighed myself on 3 different scales this morning ( Boots, the gym, Tesco) - they'd all say something different. I now have a vision of myself wandering around town, weighing myself !! @ButWhereDidTheWindComeFrom, if you can go without the wine, then go for it. It sounds like it's not the 1 glass but the eating after. I don't eat when I'm drinking ( bad bad habit), but then again I don't just drink 1 glass 🤪. @MarianneFaithful, hi and welcome. Post later yeah, that be good.
It is taking me ALL my willpower to not talk myself out of the gym and weigh in this morning. I'm not thinking about how cold it is outside. I want to stay in but I stayed in yesterday. I AM GOING !!!!
Have a great day folks !

Lemonweightloss · 01/02/2022 09:51

I lost a pound. Yay !! I had a lot of wine at weekend but only cos we were away. This weekend will be quieter 😇

Fernando072020 · 01/02/2022 11:41

Hi everyone,
Can I join please? I'm doing a pound a week and have the weights I'll be written down for June, October and next January! It's certainly a motivator to check the goals when I fancy a McDonald's 😅

I started at 215.8lbs on January 9th (I weigh in everyday and take the weeks average on Sundays)
214.7lbs on January 16th
213.4lbs on January 23rd
213.2lbs on January 30th (AF this week so I tend to go easy on myself on these weeks!)

SnowyMouse · 01/02/2022 12:26

Here's my weekly weighin:

CW: 12 stone 7.75
12 stone 4 april
11 stone 11 july
10 stone 17 october
GW: 9 stone 10 14 nov

QuelleSuprise · 01/02/2022 13:13

Hello all, I have had a terrible week food wise. But, remarkably I lost 1lb.

I'm trying harder this week.

Well done to those who have lost weight this week.

GreenWhiteViolet · 01/02/2022 14:51

Well done! As drinks go, wine isn't the worst calorifically, but of course that depends on how much you have Grin

So good to see lots of people's progress on this thread.

SnowyMouse · 01/02/2022 17:15

I lost 2.25lb after a STS last week.

Lemonweightloss · 01/02/2022 17:41

@GreenWhiteViolet, thanks. I should switch to gin n tonic really but I'm not keen so defeats the object. Yes, lots of great progress here. @SnowyMouse, thats a great result - keep going!

SnowyMouse · 01/02/2022 17:50

Thanks!

Lemonweightloss · 04/02/2022 09:30

Morning all ! How are we all doing? I'm really on it now. I get like this - I'm all or nothing, but when I'm on it, I'm on a Mission!
It probably helps that I've booked 2 holidays. 1 is a Staycation which will involve eating and drinking for 2 days, and the other is abroad so fingers crossed for that one !!
Gym later. I know people say losing weight is more about the eating but the gym helps me mentally.
Have a great day folks !

QuelleSuprise · 04/02/2022 14:44

Hi @Lemonweightloss, lovely to read how positive you are feeling now. I love that.

I am behaving so much better than last week, I did lose 1lb but it was just luck.

I have really cut down on unnecessary snacking and have been positively angelic cutting out chocolate, cake and biscuits.

How's everyone else doing?

Fernando072020 · 05/02/2022 06:39

@Lemonweightloss your mindset sounds great! I know what you mean with the gym, it's a great motivator to keep eating right, I find (exercise in general that is!).

@QuelleSuprise cutting out snacking makes a big difference imo. I've managed to cut my mid-morning toast snack and my afternoon biscuits but it took a while (habits developed while breastfeeding and I was starving!)

I find it very hard to stop eating when there are biscuits and chocolate in the house so I just don't buy them. I crave chocolate in the evenings so I'd rather it not be in the house full stop so I don't eat the whole damn bar. I've managed to avoid buying anything like that all week despite multiple trips to the shop so I'm happy with that progress. My snacking has now stopped between meals but I messed up two days this week. I got two Terry's chocolate oranges in the post as a belated birthday treat and scoffed one on Wednesday and one on Thursday 🤦🏼‍♀️ so far my weekly average is showing a 0.5lb loss so very unlikely I'll have made my pound loss this week but I feel like I'm mentally back on track at least.
I'm attempting to up my steps as the weeks go by, and I hit over 12,000 a couple days and the rest were between 7-9,000.
And my aim was to Zumba three times but I've only managed once. So I'm going to do that today and tomorrow so I still make my goal.
Have a good weekend everyone!

MarianneFaithful · 05/02/2022 07:48

Sorry I didn't post last week.
I'm metric, which is a bit confusing. I'm 83 kg now and midpoint of a healthy BMI is 69 kg, so I want to lose 14 kg. That's about 2 stone. I'll aim for 0.5 kg /week, but I'm aware that my weight fluctuates a lot. I also need to increase my fitness.
Strategy is plenty of protein, no snacks, plenty of water. Menu planning is key!
Skinny for summer!

Lemonweightloss · 05/02/2022 07:49

@Fernando072020, sounds great. I think your mindset is brilliant too. You've had a couple of blips ( though I don't think they're major. The chocolate was sent with love after all ! ). And you're still on it, you've still got a plan! If you've not made a pound this week, you will next week because you're still doing it.
I'm the same regarding stuff in the house but mine is wine. Last night my dh brought a bottle home ( it was a present/ he barely drinks), so he had a glass and me the rest. But all good. I'd walked for an hour and zumba - ed for 45 mins, so it balanced out.

Lemonweightloss · 05/02/2022 07:55

@MarianneFaithful, morning and no worries. Post here when you can.
We're a similar weight with a similar amount to lose. I'm 5ft 6. How tall are you?
I've really upped my water intake. I have to buy 2 litre bottles and leave it on the side or I don't drink enough. What will you do regarding fitness ? I walk a lot, my job is physical but only 7 hours a week and I do Dance and Zumba at least 3 times a week.

MarianneFaithful · 05/02/2022 08:25

@Lemonweightloss I'm an inch or 2 taller than you I think. I've been unwell so need to build up fitness gradually. More walking & re-starting yoga this week, swimming in a few weeks then back to my cardio class after that. 🤞

Minnie123456 · 06/02/2022 08:26

1lb off, no idea how as i've literally ate my way through the last week as af is here🙈 it will probably go back on next week.
I need to loose 9lbs to get into the "overweight" range.

Lemonweightloss · 06/02/2022 09:20

@Minnie123456, that's great - you're on target. A few people on here have wondered how they've lost ! You've obviously made a few small changes and that's all it takes. Keep going !
( it won't be back next week. Another pound will be gone !! Grin)

QuelleSuprise · 06/02/2022 10:04

Well done @Minnie123456

helloyoutoo8 · 07/02/2022 08:37

Weigh in this morning, 1 lb lost and am 13stone 5. The scales did go down to 13 3lb in the week but think eating a few chocolate things at weekend may have put it up again. I'm really happy that limiting snacks and running are allowing me to lose a lb a week as it seems so achievable (aiming to lose 2stone baby weight) and I'm not really missing the snacks. There was a time I'd eat a choc bar a day, so having one a week on a 'cheat' day is not worth worrying over really.
Hope everyone else doing ok.
