1lb a week …

BrambleRoses · 17/01/2022 19:56

So … anyone want to join me?

1lb a week. So no pressure. There may be some weeks we don’t lose but then we may lose 2 the next week. Achievable.

I’ve just gone through my phone and if I lose 1lb a week, every week … I’ll be 9 stone by 24 October!

I’ve failed in the past because I have been too rigid and then broken it. So this time I’m deliberately going for slow.

Start weight - 12 stone.

I really sympathise, honestly I was the same. Last year I had a baby and I did lose quite a lot of weight after having him but it failed off. I stopped losing by summer and by the time I went back to work in the autumn, I was gaining Blush

So on 1lb a week, starting today you will be 11’7 by 11 March, 11 stone by the 22 April and 10’10 by 20 May! Which is totally achievable!

Can I join? Currently 9st 10 after having two babies in quick succession. Would love to be 9 stone- so don't have loads to lose but like others I have a tendency to restrict too much so would like to do it slowly Smile

BrambleRoses · 21/01/2022 09:03

Welcome! You might get to target quicker than any of us - I make that March 18.

However it may be harder for you, perversely - I always find the lash half stone a killer to get off!

thecolourmonster · 21/01/2022 09:33

Yes you're right- I might even try to aim for half a pound a week?

Toomuchnow · 21/01/2022 23:26

Please can I join!

I’m celebrating a big birthday in May and I just feel sad that I’m currently 15 stone. I am tall, so it translates into a size 16, but I feel uncomfortable. I’m so desperate to lose weight, that I’m currently looking at a box of chocolate (husbands) and don’t want to eat them! I really am determined this time.

My goal is 12 stone. I know this might seem heavy, but at my lightest I was 11 stone and looked very lean due to height. So I think 12 will look good on me and is more realistic. I don’t think it’s possible by the end of May!

Since the new year, I have been doing the following:

Exercise (HIIT, strength training) 3 times per week and a daily walk with podcast.

Cut out sugar - I’ve felt the anti inflammatory benefits already. Legs don’t feel like lead and aching has stopped.

Limit wheat to 2-3 times per week (eg wholewheat pitta/ pasta).

No ultra processed foods and no seed oils.

I’m eating full fat dairy etc. Avoid low fat options as they tend to be ultra processed.

Calorie counting on MFP- max of 1,500 per day. I must have been eating 2,500-3,000 previously.

Toomuchnow · 21/01/2022 23:30

The reason this thread appeals, is that I’m the same weight I started at. Eating 1,500 cals a day strictly for 1 week (previously I was doing the healthy eating but not logging cals) and I’ve not seen any weight loss- although my body does feel different.

I know I’m being impatient and I just need to keep going! Hence why I’ve joined the thread to keep me focused!

Morning!

Just wanted to check in and say hi. :)

Yesterday I did a slow and leisurely walk for about an hour and today will be the same at least. I also was out for lunch with a colleague and we shared it as the cafe is known for big portion sizes. So I am continuining to feel good and positive.

I am intrigued by sugar and inflammation @Toomuchnow. I shall look into that.

Eviebeans · 22/01/2022 06:41

Hi hope I'm not too late to join. I managed to lose weight during the first lockdown but a lot of that has crept back on. I'm feeling a bit sluggish etc and would love to feel a bit more 🌞 if that makes sense. I have a big birthday coming up in a few months time. I'm a bit lacking in motivation atm but feel that aiming for 1lb a week sounds good to me and that sharing here will help.

QforCucumber · 22/01/2022 07:09

Ooo I feel like I could manage this, currently 12stone 3lbs, signed up to WW but I think I’m a bit naff at it as still seem to be sitting around the same weight, had Ds2 18 months ago and I weigh over a stone more now than I did a month PP! End goal is 9stone 10lbs but small goals of 7lbs off are my aims 😀

QforCucumber · 22/01/2022 07:11

So by -
12th march - 11stone 10lbs.
30th April - 11st 3lbs
18th June - 10st 10lbs
6th August - 10st 3lbs
Target by September!

SnowyMouse · 24/01/2022 13:53

CW: 12 stone 10
12 stone 4 april
11 stone 11 july
10 stone 17 october
GW: 9 stone 10 14 nov

ToffeeNotCoffee · 24/01/2022 14:04

Hello I'm doing my own pound-a-week challenge.

I've been doing ok so far. I've lost um, a pound a week since weighing myself on New Year's Day.

I'm aiming to lose 52lbs this year.

I'm still losing the half a stone I put on over Christmas. However, ultimately my aim to to keep going.

I once heard a diet teacher say that people may be disappointed to lose 'only a pound' in the weekly weigh in. She said repeat that every week for a year and that's 52lbs gone.

Yep, I'm in.

rubytubeytubes · 24/01/2022 21:17

Hi! Please can I join?
Currently 12 stone 12. Would like to be 9 stone 12. I have a special holiday in September and I want to be slimmer for that

emsmum79 · 24/01/2022 21:58

Can I join in? I am aiming to lose a lb a week too. I'm currently 15 stone 4lbs. I am aiming for 12 and a half stone.

But, it's hard losing weight when you are over 40 isn't it? I'm exercising at a pretty high intensity 3 times a week but not much is happening. I struggle with snacking. I have changed to mostly healthy snacks though.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 24/01/2022 22:04

Please can I join. I'm not happy with how my weight has crept up and is going up and down by one or two pounds.
I'm 13 stone 9lb Blush

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 24/01/2022 22:05

Aiming for 11 stone. Used to aim for lighter but that's when I feel like I've failed.

Lemonweightloss · 24/01/2022 22:21

I'm in. It's a great idea. Our motto should be Slow n Steady Wins The Race !
I don't own scales and I refuse to go to yet another slimming club. I weigh myself ( not regularly) in Boots when I can be bothered. Last was a couple of weeks ago - 13st 4. Before Lockdown I was 12st so I guess that's my target.
My problem is alcohol ( I'm possibly on the wrong thread), but I'm doing well cutting back. I eat healthily ( unless hungover), I walk (everyday) exercise at least 3 times a week and overall have a good body image and high self esteem. I want to lose weight for health reasons aka to help me live as long as possible.
Hope you're all doing OK.
I'll weigh myself tomorrow so I know where I'm up to.

Stade197 · 24/01/2022 22:25

Ooh this sounds like something I need to join!

I want to lose 2 stone by my birthday which works out at 1lb a week.

I gained 2 stone in pregnancy and gained some weight after too! I've really struggled to lose weight since having my boy 5 months ago so I need to push myself

rubytubeytubes · 24/01/2022 23:15

Yes! I have found it so hard the last few years since I hit 40, I used to loose weight relatively easier. Shame the weight goes on so much quicker
QuelleSuprise · 25/01/2022 07:22

Morning, I am going to join you if that is ok.

1lb a week doesn't sound to threatening to me so I'm going to give it a good go.

Will report back with my starting weight (which is a lot 😀)

BrambleRoses · 25/01/2022 07:59

Morning and welcome!

Later on I’ll organise a proper list with targets. I’m currently hovering between 11/11 and 11/12.

OP posts:
QuelleSuprise · 25/01/2022 08:32

Morning @BrambleRoses

Loving the sound of a proper list and targets.

Just weighed myself and I am 12st 1.5lb

Lemonweightloss · 25/01/2022 08:44

@BrambleRoses, thank you. I think the list sounds great.
I'm up early and off to the gym but I'll weigh self today. I think I'm always reluctant to weigh in case it sullies my happy mood but I'm just going to do it. It is what it is. Hopefully I won't be whatever weight I am , again !
Have a great day everyone. Am loving the positive vibes. Do yer best and if you have a wobble, speak kindly to yourself and get back on track.

Lemonweightloss · 25/01/2022 08:46

@QuelleSuprise, was that more or less than you were expecting?

Lemonweightloss · 25/01/2022 08:48

@Stade197, that's good timing ! You can do it. Do you have an outfit in mind ? I love to visualise!
