Thought I would start the new thread a day early, cannot believe this thread has been going for two years. I joined on 2nd Jan 2020. I'm going to put today's weight in 9st1.25, so a gain of three pounds in December. Aiming to get back to where I was by the end of January and in the longer term a few more pounds.

Well done Nutella.

May the force be with you for dealing with Dad Octopus!

I'm up several pounds from my lowest and a bit gutted and struggling to get back into it. I've started getting hungry for snack stuff late at night again which I thought I was totally past annoyingly. Think cold and tired is having an impact.

10/9 here today which I put down to a combo of weighing before using the loo, and takeaway pizza last night. My steps this week have been awful too - work is so busy that I haven’t managed to get out in the day for a walk, then I don’t really like going out afterwards when it’s dark. Next week should be better, and then the following week I am back on campus two days a week. Have lovely weekends everyone!

@Judystilldreamsofhorses I always call the two pounds after eating takeaway pizza my Domino two pounds, happens every time, think its the salt. Thanks @swallowedAfly, I'm doing ok. @Allaboutthebooks its great that you've been stuck at home. Didn't weigh this morning cause went out for a meal last night. May brave it in the morning or on Monday

Well I managed to make myself a nice mackerel salad earlier in an attempt to not leave it so late to eat that I reached for crap.

If I eat again it will be some vegetable soup hopefully.

Takeaway is easily 2lbs Judy - mostly water retention from salt ime.

Am trying to remember to keep drinking water so passing on the reminder here in case it's needed.

I'm down a bit from the last time I got on the scales and saw a scary number. 12:1 today. Sad to have regained but onwards and downwards I guess. Have ordered lots of salad stuff and jacket potatoes and fish for Tuesday's shop. Just need to find the energy and determination to eat properly.

Octopus37 · 30/01/2022 08:57

You can do it @swallowedAfly.You have done so well already.

I braved a weigh in this mornin, 9st1.75 not in the groove at all at the moment, aiming for damage limitation.

@Octopus37 - v unmumsnetty hugs for you. You're absolutely doing the right thing to not worry about weight etc. right now that you've got so much on your plate.

I listened to a great podcast once with a woman talking about spinning all the plates in life and how you should view some of the plates as glass and some as plastic. The plastic ones can be the dropped. The glass can't.

Diet can be your plastic plate at the moment. It'll still be there to pick up again in the future. When you've time and capacity it can become a glass plate if you want it to.

My brother was in hospital at the back end of last year and he was very unwell. My diet was a plastic plate then and it got well and truly dropped. I've picked it up again now and have started it spinning. Smile

FFS, 10/10 today! How can I not have gained at Christmas and now this? I am conscious my digestion is sluggish and my bathroom habits are out of whack, but srsly?

Keep going, swallowedafly. January is almost over!

I need to drink more water. And great analogy about the plates queenmabby. Work last week was a crystal plate for me, but there wasn’t a single day I felt was awful except the pizza 🍕

swallowedAfly · 30/01/2022 11:27

Thanks Judy. I'm similar - I only gained a pound or so over Christmas and quickly re-lost it but then at some point in January I really started feeling hungry.

I am hungry now and not sure what to do about it. Would happily eat another salad but no salad stuff in house. I think I'm going to go with something that is a 'treat' for me but not that bad and make a cheese and salami wrap. I don't normally eat bread. Hopefully that will be enough to avoid ending up ravenous when ds finally surfaces and end up being tempted to order takeaway or something daft.

NutellaEllaElla · 30/01/2022 16:48

Sorry for the frustrations, call it a January blues and we'll look forward to a Fabulous February hopefully!

I am killing it with exercise this weekend. I went for a slow run yesterday. I 'ran' for a whole hour! Unthinkable given I could never get past week 3 of couch to 5k. Then today i've walked just over 1000 calories. It's lovely, I feel strong. I've eaten a bit more of course but that's appropriate IMO.

Octopus37 · 30/01/2022 19:19

@NutellaEllaElla will use that title for the next thread.

@QueenMabby thats a great analogy about the plates. Had much more difficult times last year but having my Dad to stay is always a bit of a challenge. Going shopping tomorrow after dropping him off.
