Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

Well done both, sounds like progress ☺️
I've banned myself from socialising for a few weeks before the holiday so I don't fall off the band wagon. It's always a good feeling getting down to that next stone isn't it? @Sunshineandrainbow

Think we might need a new thread soon, not sure what the message limit is on here

Down a little bit this morning

SW - 17st 3lbs
CW - 12st 11lbs
GW - 10st 6lbs

ShinyPikachu · 17/09/2022 13:40

It's 1000 comments limit so we're getting close but still a little bit to go at least, we're not too busy a thread so it's not too urgent at the moment.

Well done @Sunshineandrainbow and @Echoes89

I've been continuing the walking and managing a little bit each day so far. I have a delivery due today but I was in a bit of pain after just a short walk yesterday so I'm going to stay inside and rest today.

ShinyPikachu · 17/09/2022 13:44

My new coat arrived and it's perfect. I probably have enough space in it to wear a thin jumper underneath, I got one 2 sizes up even though reviews said to go 2-3 sizes up so I'm happy with that and if I keep losing weight through the winter I can always wear chunkier jumpers under it if it starts to be too loose.

@Echoes89 You have done so well and must feel incredible are you following a specific plan?

@ShinyPikachu its nice to have layers under your coat so it sounds perfect.
I am looking forward to getting my coat I bought from seasalt last year out to wear to football.

Echoes89 · 17/09/2022 17:05

@Sunshineandrainbow I haven't been following a specific plan tbh. I think you have to mix and match depending on what works for you. I suppose I intermittent fast as I pretty much only eat between 12pm and 6pm ish been generally. I'm never hungry in the morning so I'm happy having a slimfast shake for lunch and then about 600-700 calorie meal in the evening occasionally with a low calorie treat if I'm still hungry after and trying to get to bed before I get the late evening munchies 😂 it's all good and well until I go out at the weekends and drink and eat out. Trying to avoid getting takeaways at the moment too. Unfortunately as I'm only 5ft 4, I'm still a size 16, sometimes 18. I know it's a good amount of weight I've lost, but I wish it was showing a bit more in clothes side.

ShinyPikachu · 20/09/2022 10:04

Small gain for me this week but it's been a stressful one and I've had a lot of junk all week so I'm lucky it wasn't worse. Back on it now though.

Feels good to get back on it and draw a line under what has happened. Have a great week.

Sunshineandrainbow · 25/09/2022 08:37

How's everyone doing?
I have not weighed this week as felt it would not be great and I am then inclined to throw the towel in.

Echoes89 · 25/09/2022 09:43

@Sunshineandrainbow don't feel bad if you have a week where you gain a little, it's all part of the journey 🙂
I've put 2lbs back on myself this week, I had a few days of eating badly with meals out and feeling a bit sorry for myself 😂 but I like to weigh daily anyway, even if I'm not going to like the number, or I'd be tempted not to weigh for a long time. Need to get my head back in the game and hopefully lose a little more weight before the holiday in 2 weeks, definitely not getting down to 12st 7lbs in 2 weeks

ShinyPikachu · 25/09/2022 14:58

I've totally fallen off the wagon this week. I've only gone and injured myself again, aggravating my almost healed injured leg and adding new injuries to it as well.

I've not counted calories at all and there has been a lot of sympathy chocolate but I've also not been eating much else when it comes to meals, I've been having stuff like poached eggs on toast for breakfast then nothing until dinner and I'll have a small baked potato with a mountain of cheese. So I've hopefully limited the damage with that, I'm just struggling to stand and cook again so relying on easy things and trying to avoid takeaways this time.

ShinyPikachu · 26/09/2022 08:15

Another gain as I expected. I need to be strict with myself now. The last fall isn't anywhere near as bad as the one before so there's nothing stopping me going out and being more active right now and no more emergency chocolate unless I've got plenty of spare calories for the day.

Anyone else need an extra arse kicking (not licking, glad I caught that autocorrect!) while I give myself one? We can do this! Even if you've been off the wagon for most of the year, it's always worth getting back on it. Smile

Sunshineandrainbow · 26/09/2022 08:52

We can do this let's get right back on the wagon it will be worth it.
I tell myself if I tripped on first stair I wouldnt throw myself down the rest. And that applies to eating too as in the past I would throw the towel in at the first hicup.
I have a tooth extraction in 2 hours absolutely petrified. On the plus side I won't be eating properly for a while. I will be having soup, fruit puree and Protein shake!
Have a great day everyone.
And if it helps to post what you are eating here then do that.
Also hope op is OK as not heard from them for a while.

Sunshineandrainbow · 26/09/2022 08:54

Shiny please go easy after your accident. Have you tried the walking videos on you tube I quite like the one mile 15 minute one.

ShinyPikachu · 26/09/2022 09:43

Good luck for the tooth extraction @Sunshineandrainbow

I've not done those but I'm going to get the RingFit out for the Switch again soon. I'm in an upstairs flat so don't want to make too much noise although I think our neighbours are out during the day for work at least but the RingFit has a "quiet" mode where you squat repeatedly rather than jogging on the spot. I play PokémonGo too (of course I do with my username) so that's an incentive for me to get out and about a bit again. DD has been walking the dogs for me since my first injury so I'm thinking I could take the easier one to walk out by myself again and build up the distances we go. I used to take one of our previous dogs out for miles and miles at a time and I know this dog would absolutely love that. DD just takes him the same little route each day and I think it bores him. So he and I need to go find different walks to go on to help both of us. Smile I'll be back at my Pilates class when I feel I can go with my foot as well, hopefully sometime next month as I don't want to risk overdoing things at the moment.

DuckWithOneWing · 26/09/2022 21:45

I've had a crazy few weeks where I've fallen off the wagon but am trying to get back on it! I volunteered too help with arrangements for the Queen's funeral, which was such a privilege but meant long night shifts where I ate a lot of chocolate. That's now finished, so things are back to normal. My partner is also away this week which I'm hoping will help, as it means I can plan my own food rather than him tempting me with takeaways.

Sunshineandrainbow · 27/09/2022 09:19

@ShinyPikachu sounds like you have a good realistic plan in place. I really need to introduce some exercise to my life.

I haven't eaten since tooth was removed and feeling quite sorry for myself. Going to try some fruit puree and yogurt today if I am brave enough.

@DuckWithOneWing that sounds amazing and don't let it set you back just make a plan for this week and you will be back on track.

DuckWithOneWing · 28/09/2022 09:19

I'm feeling extra motivated because I've just realised I've nearly lost 100lbs in total, which seems crazy. Well, I'm still about a stone off so it's not that nearly, but it feels close. Surprisingly, the scales this morning said I hadn't gained too much for my several weeks off plan and I had a good day yesterday.

@Sunshineandrainbow toothache is the worst! Hope you're feeling better today

DuckWithOneWing · 29/09/2022 18:15

I'm wearing jeans!

I was in Sainsbury's and saw some that looked nice, so I bought them in a size 18. I haven't worn jeans for years because I've thought I'm too fat!

I've also made soup today as the weather is turning colder. I make random root vegetable soup, which is really easy but always ends up tasty. The recipe is quite simple: brown one large onion, add random root vegetables (I often use the pre-chopped mixed ones because they're often reduced and then I don't have to chop things. Today I really wanted to add a squash because I love squash) and I usually throw a couple of potatoes in. Heat it up for a while until I get bored. Add enough vegetable stock to cover it - I usually use 1 stock cube per 500ml water, and 1L of water for 4 portions of soup. Then let it simmer for about 40 minutes. Whizz it up, add seasoning and it's done! I often season it with soy sauce. I don't know if it's the normal thing to add but it really brings out the flavours.
Today's soup had 3 smallish potatoes, one small "mixed squash", 3 parsnips, 1.5 onions (well, one normal size and a very small one) and a 600g bag of diced carrot and swede.
I've made this hundreds of times and just vary the vegetables depending on what diced bags are available or what I feel like adding. It usually comes out at around 200 calories per 400g portion, which is the same size as a tin of soup.
I use Frylight to brown the onion. It would be more calories if you used oil.

Sunshineandrainbow · 01/10/2022 08:04

@DuckWithOneWing 100lbs is absolutely incredible you must feel amazing! And wearing jeans is fab. I really don't know what to wear this winter. Long skirts are my go to in summer.
The soup sound a good I love a good soup recipe so thanks for the tips.

Start weight 18.9 current weight 17.13
I have lost a pound despite not eating anything but baby apple puree and soup all week! Thought it would have been at least a stone ha ha!! Nevermind keep pushing forwards
I am meeting a friend for a walk soon so that will be nice to be out today.

DuckWithOneWing · 03/10/2022 08:43

It's Monday, which means it's a new week and a new start! How is everyone today? What are your goals or focus for the week?

I've set my phone background to a photo of me in a dress I really hope to be wearing by Christmas. It's one I wore in 2019 but haven't been able to fit into since so I'm hoping this year that changes. It's completely doable but I just need to stay focused.

ShinyPikachu · 03/10/2022 10:29

Small loss for me this week. I'm studying with the OU and that's started this week so hopefully studying will stop me wanting to snack as I don't like crumbs near my notebooks. It does mean I have less time to get out the house to walk but the way our weather has been I haven't fancied it, I'm going to get back to Pilates soon though, most of my injuries are much better now so walking there and back will help me too.

fidgetcube · 03/10/2022 12:33

I lost 300g in the last two weeks, not great but at least I didn’t gain I guess.

I'm refocusing, well I’m trying to anyway.

I have a GP phone appointment tomorrow about weight loss support, so hopefully something helpful comes from that.

DuckWithOneWing · 03/10/2022 12:55

300g is good, that's over half a pound! And as you said, it's definitely better than gaining. Hopefully your GP will be helpful tomorrow.

fidgetcube · 04/10/2022 13:49

Well the gp suggested orlistat, so I declined that and tentatively asked about saxenda. So I’m having a blood test and blood pressure check in two weeks to see if I have any of the comorbidities that would enable him to prescribe. So we shall see. I’m 27 and my bmi is 53. Not holding out hope as everything was fine when I had a blood test and bp check last year.

DuckWithOneWing · 05/10/2022 20:10

@fidgetcube I looked into Saxenda last year, and from what I found out your GP can't prescribe it. It either has to be a specialist weight management team, or you have to get it privately which is really expensive. But you've definitely come to the right place - my BMI was over 50 when I started, and now I've lost nearly 100lbs so stick with it and I'm sure you can do the same!

I went to Tesco today and found some frozen ready meals I hadn't seen before. They're called "beautifully balanced". I've bought a naked burrito bowl and a beef & broccoli stroganoff to try so I'll let you know how they are. I like keeping things in the freezer so that I've got something quick and easy for days when I don't feel like cooking.
