Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

Hi @Sunshineandrainbow while it might seem a mammoth task I think the important part is to take each day at a time. I'm doing just basic calorie counting after years on and off at SW. I really think it makes you rethink your relationship with food. For me the important part is not banning anything but just considering choices I make. I did start that with SW but I find having a value on everything instead of free foods is making me think more about what I'm having.

I have the Slimming Eats book and going to treat myself to some of the Two Chubby Cubs ones soon. What I like about them is that it's just good normal food, filling but without denying yourself things too.

IMO planning is key. If I plan my meals I definitely do better than if I just wing it.

We're all in this together and here for support through the good and the bad, the ups and downs. Smile

ShinyPikachu · 25/07/2022 11:56

And on that note it's definitely a bad week for me. I obviously knew it would be. I can't walk because of my foot injury. We've had takeaways most of the week and because it was warm I was craving ice cold Coke and was going through at least one large bottle a day. I've gained 7lb this week as a result - more than I had lost so far.

I know there's obviously a good reason for it and once I can walk again it'll come off but I'm still going to go have a little pity party for myself today. No more Coke though, we have rain today at least so I want warm drinks so I'm back on my coffee (no sugar and a splash of green milk). I did some batch cooking for DH for work so I might rely on that for dinner for myself and have the DC fend for themselves, they're old enough to cook some basics easily enough for the next few days.

@Sunshineandrainbow welcome to the thread. It does seem a mammoth task but I'm breaking it down into more manageable goals of a few pounds at a time. That way I get the thrill when I reach my targets and it motivates me to keep going.

I’m definitely more relaxed with what I eat at the weekend, I’m aware of what I’m eating but don’t calorie count as such.

Sunshineandrainbow · 25/07/2022 18:18

Thanks for the welcome,

Do people find it beneficial to weigh themselves? I tend to shy away from scales and normally just occasionally weigh at boots.
Any particular scales reccomended?

HerRoyalHappiness · 25/07/2022 18:42

I weigh every day then I can track fluctuations through the week. I use fitbit aria scales although I don't have a fit it anymore so they're just very expensive scales.
Any scales will do as long as you weigh at the same time and in the same clothes each week.
I weigh naked every morning at 10 past 6.

I weigh once a week on a Monday morning, always before I eat or drink anything and before I get dressed for the day so I've taken out as many variables as possible. When I'm having a really bad time I sometimes weigh daily as it can help me see my natural patterns but I don't do that all the time.

I have Weight Watchers Conair Bluetooth scales. They connect to an app on my phone so it automatically stores my stats there which I find a lot easier than remembering and writing it down. It does other measurements as well as weight but tbh I don't pay much attention to those, things like BMI, body fat, body water, bone mass and muscle mass. I don't know how accurate that side of things is on them but the fact it's linked to an app is really why I got them.

Sorry if it’s been asked but has anyone tried ozempic?

Prettybubblesintheair · 25/07/2022 21:46

I weigh in once week on a Saturday morning, always first thing after my first wee/poo! I find if I weigh myself daily I can be very obsessive and start a dangerous relationship with calories which while initially would be ok as I have a lot to lose weight wise but I’m going for an overall healthy lifestyle without binging or starving myself. I’ve not heard of ozempic, is it like orlistat?

ClassSize2022 · 25/07/2022 21:51

No it’s something else I’m trying it privately

Ozempic

Prettybubblesintheair · 25/07/2022 22:09

Ah ok I think I have seen it advertised in the uk but it’s incredibly expensive!

Prettybubblesintheair · 30/07/2022 08:42

How’s everyone doing? I lost 3lb this week, really happy with that! I had a bit of an iffy week with food but have been out and about lots so doing 15,000+ steps a few days this week so think that helps. Dh is also doing really well, in fact my mum is almost blind to my almost 4st weight loss and bangs on about dh’s 1.5st transformation! Seeing family for the first time since before Christmas and while I definitely do not want to be showered with compliments I would just like one person to notice! Hope everyone else is doing ok x

Echoes89 · 30/07/2022 10:09

@Prettybubblesintheair well done. I know how you feel about the nobody noticing and not wanting to be showered with compliments but the odd comment wouldn't go a miss. Only a couple of people have said anything about my weight loss and I've lost 4stone. The people who have mentioned I've spoken to about my weight loss, if they didn't I'm not sure they'd have noticed either😂 it's crazy because I'm sure people would've noticed if I put on 4 stone.
I've lost a little bit this week, going to go ruin it now with food and drinks today😁 might try be a little more conscious of the food I pick when I go out today than normal though, I really want to get under 13 stone in the next few weeks. Would absolutely love to be 12st 7lbs when I go on holiday at the beginning of October

SW - 17st 3lbs
CW - 13st 1.5lbs
GW - 10st 6lbs

Prettybubblesintheair · 30/07/2022 10:30

Well done @Echoes89 you’ve done so well! Ds gave me an unexpected “compliment” the other day…we were waiting for a train and he said “yeah mum I can see you’ve lost weight, your double chin isn’t so big” 😂oh thanks darling! And I say I never get compliments 😅. But yes just someone noticing would feel really good, as you say if we put 4 stone on people would definitely notice! I’m 3lb off 4 stone now, hoping to be 13st something when we go to Thorpe park mid august which will be 4st lighter then I was last time so won’t have to worry about fitting on the rides! I’m having my hair done this morning then family thing this evening, I don’t drink but having a day off food wise! Dh made me a lovely breakfast and coffee in bed so a really nice start to the day ☺️Hope everyone else has a lovely weekend x

blueplan · 30/07/2022 15:50

Hi everyone. Didn't check after weighing last week as I began to feel poorly just before lunch. Anyway, in the week leading up to a last Saturday, I lost 1 1/2lb, so was very happy with that. Since last Saturday, I have lost a further 1st 3 1/2lbs - all thanks to the food poisoning I've been dealing with ever since. I'm assuming food poisoning (possibly a rogue prawn) as dh has avoided it which I think would be unlikely if it was caused by a bug. I've really struggled to drink this week and went from Sunday to Wednesday with no food at all. I am now drinking more and have started to eat simple, plain food like jacket potato (no filling) and ready made custard. I am getting better every day, but still feel incredibly weak. Anyway, fingers crossed I will continue to improve - reminds me of when I was pregnant and had hyperemesis for the entire 9 months , let's hope this is just a couple of weeks rather than 9 months. 😂 Just for once, I'm hoping that by next week I will have put on a fee pounds!

HerRoyalHappiness · 30/07/2022 22:34

@blueplan I'm sorry you're so unwell

I'm not going to lose anything this week. I have DS2s party tomorrow (he's 7 on monday) so I'm expecting a gain this week.

He's going to be very happy with his presents. Although I ran out of pokemon wrapping paper so there's two presents that are wrapped in odd wrapping paper and they're bugging me to look at 😂

ShinyPikachu · 01/08/2022 10:45

Well done @Prettybubblesintheair and @Echoes89

My mum is one obsessed with commenting on my weight but she's very much a "have you gained weight?" person even if I've lost weight. I think it's one reason I regularly fell off the wagon before.

I hope you're feeling better now @blueplan

I hope the party went well @HerRoyalHappiness and he enjoyed his presents.

I'm slowly recovering from my injury and slowly getting back to moving around again. I've lost 1.5lb this week for a total of 1.1lb off. That's how bad my gain was when I couldn't move.

I'm slowly getting back to cooking now as well which will help but I'm not calorie counting quite yet. I'm going to give it another week before that as I'm still not quite ready. I had to resort to a takeaway again last night and after a midweek sneaky check on the scales which had me up another 3lb from where I was (and then was out for a meal and cocktails this weekend) I really wasn't expecting a loss this morning.

HerRoyalHappiness · 01/08/2022 12:20

I somehow miraculously lost a lb and a half after the party 🥳
He had a fab time. We're eating leftovers today, saves me cooking 😂

I didn't have a great July but am hoping August will be better! One of my birds hurt themselves really badly and had to be put to sleep which was very unexpected and upsetting. I'm also still having problems with my ankle which I injured months ago!

HerRoyalHappiness · 02/08/2022 05:46

@DuckWithOneWing I'm sorry about your bird 😔 it's never easy to PTS a much loved pet.
I hope August is better for you

Finally wearing a too small dress I brought in June today!

Echoes89 · 03/08/2022 13:50

@Prettybubblesintheair well done, clearly losing inches ☺️ I managed to fit into a playsuit which was too small, it fits now but looks rubbish even though it fits😂
