Here is the new thread. Thanks for the title @theHoneyBadger.

Weighed in at 8st12.5 this morning, 0.25 down from the beginning of August. No specific aim for me other than to eat a bit more healthily cause I've had a wierd lurgy the last few days, not covid have tested several times. Love September cause it always feels like a new beginning.

Afternoon all, i've been busy today so haven't snacked too much which is good. Water intake also good though i've lost count.

sparklyglitterball · 20/09/2021 21:49

Hey all, just checking in. We've had a busy weekend of socialising, involving Prosecco and buffet food 😬 but back in the zone today hoping to have avoided too much damage. Hope you've all had a nice weekend.

MoominFeatures · 21/09/2021 06:57

This thread is lovely - you’re all so supportive of each other and it’s so refreshing. Congrats, all, on your progress and amazing resolve. I’ve been lurking for a short while and wondering whether to brave joining you “properly”…and since I couldn’t sleep this AM I am biting the bullet!

Currently I’m languishing in bed, trying to motivate myself enough to haul my own backside out of my pit and use the time to get some exercise in… It’s dark and a bit chilly outside but I’m trying to think of that post-gym buzz as my dangling carrot…

Right, that’s done it. I’m getting up. It’ll be worth it.

Octopus37 · 21/09/2021 07:09

Welcome @MoominFeatures. @LadyDanburysHat hope your Son feels better soon. Think sometimes when you're full of a cold etc, you just need to let yourself eat what you want.

8st11.75 today, but going out with a friend tonight.

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a online class I can join (not too expensive). I wfh and after a stressful year with covid and job loss I have gained weight (86 kg). I have started walking but I want to do something more intense.

I am ashamed of my diet, still have loss of taste post COVID and have eaten more carb this year than ever. I still can't have some fruit and a lot of vegetables. I am vegetarian and have eaten sugary stuff as that was the only thing I could taste in initial months. Am using brown rice and bread but trying to portion control.

I have only been this heavy when I was pregnant and feeling v conscious :(

NutellaEllaElla · 21/09/2021 09:41

Welcome welcome!

I am up 1 lb for no reason. I think I have a sinus infection and am in bed with no energy.

I've not considered paying for an online exercise class, given all the free youtube videos out there. I like power yoga with Brian but it's very challenging! Sorry to hear about your loss of taste, I wondered if that would put you (one) off food but see that hasn't been the case for you. You've not got too much to lose, you can do it Smile

TheHoneyBadger · 21/09/2021 10:46

Welcome Moomin - hope you got that buzz.

I'm up again. I did eat late at night so could just be that but basically weight not budging at the minute. I'm giving blood today and it's quite a walk there and back so that should help. Slightly annoyed that I'm busier and burning more calories daily than over summer but not seeing any results.

MoominFeatures · 21/09/2021 11:56

Thanks so much for all the welcs, everyone! I am pleased to be able to report that I DID make it to the gym this morning so I did get that rush! As promised, my number this morning is 61.6kg (9st 9.8lbs). My goal is 54kg (8st 7lbs) so there’s a bit of a way to go and it is very sloowwwww-going. I’m wondering whether I’m not drinking enough water - how much is everyone here aiming for each day? Maybe upping my intake will provide a bit of a boost?

@redferrari I’m so sorry about your corona mare and I can empathise - it’s not for everyone but I personally found that drinking soylent or kefir (the big 500ml bottles) as meal replacements really helped when I was down with it because (as much as I'm up for losing a few pounds) I found during recovery that it was really difficult to get back into food (esp “lumpy” food) without the taste/smell senses working properly, and I knew that going altogether without would have been really really bad. Also, (if you can cope with chilli and aromatics) I found chucking a whole load of chilli and/or spices into anything and everything helpful as well and it seemed to kick-start a return of the senses too - I figured at least with spicing you can feel the sensation (burn?!) even if you can’t fully taste what you’re eating… (I emphasise that this is 100% not medical advice though!!!)

NutellaEllaElla · 21/09/2021 12:04

That is frustrating Badger, how long have you been busier for? I find it usually takes more than 1 week of consistent change to see the consequences.

I aim for minimum 2 litres of water a day.

redferrari · 21/09/2021 12:46

@MoominFeatures well done for hitting the gym. thanks for the tip, yes I can get the heat of chilli now, am coating everything with chilli sauce and red chilly flakes. I still can't eat some veg it tastes really odd, I have a list of 4/5 which I keep rotating. Veg Soup tastes odd for some reason. Can do lentil soup. I am better now than before though so just hoping I get the tastes back.

sparklyglitterball · 21/09/2021 13:00

Welcome to

sparklyglitterball · 21/09/2021 13:04

Whoops! Posted too soon 😬 welcome @MoominFeatures and @redferrari. Hope you can expand your vegetables soon, it's tricky being a vegetarian and trying to eat healthier with limited choice! How was your gym workout moonin? I am planning to head for a run tomorrow, busy work day today. @TheHoneyBadger hang on in there! It sometimes seems to take ages for me to have a loss, then suddenly will start coming off over a period of 2/3 weeks before plateauing again.

Octopus37 · 22/09/2021 07:20

Welcome @redferrari. Sorry to here you've had Covid. Up a pound this morning cause of my night out, but I'm ok with that.

LadyDanburysHat · 22/09/2021 08:46

Morning all. DS2 is absolutely fine after 2 days of feeling unwell with Covid. I am still full of cold, took yesterday off work and just ate and ate. I just feel so hungry with a cold. 11st 13.5 this morning.

LBB2020 · 22/09/2021 18:25

Hello everyone Smile I’ve not posted for a couple of days as I’ve fallen off the wagon again Blush I’m really struggling with tiredness and motivation since we had Covid a few weeks ago. I have 5 weeks until I return to work from maternity leave and we also have some family photos booked in a few weeks so tomorrow is my fresh start!

MoominFeatures · 22/09/2021 21:41

Feel better soon @LadyDanburysHat!

@LBB2020 we’re all human so be kind to yourself.

@NutellaEllaElla I’m finding the water thing really hard!!! How do you do it? And are you counting all liquids (e.g. tea and coffee and squash) towards that?

MoominFeatures · 22/09/2021 21:45

Oh, I haven’t weighed in today - I hope no one minds but I think I’d prefer to give weekly updates on numbers if that’s ok.

NutellaEllaElla · 22/09/2021 21:49

Yeah all liquids count but I don't drink tea and coffee. I aim for 1 litre in the morning and one in the afternoon, although it varies depending on bathroom access! I just developed the habit by always having a chilly bottle of cold water with me and sometimes chugging half of it.

LBB2020 · 22/09/2021 22:03

Thank you @MoominFeatures
I am definitely going go and buy some new scales as it might motivate me a bit (I’ve been putting off getting new ones since the old ones broke a couple of months ago!)

Octopus37 · 23/09/2021 07:03

@LadyDanburysHat hope you feel better soon. @LBB2020 you are only human @MoominFeatures you sound as if you have a similar goal to me. 8st12.5 this morning. Period still hasn't started properly, not sure my HRT is really helping. May need to go back to the GP but its all time.

TheHoneyBadger · 24/09/2021 06:40

12:12.4 today so that’s better. Busy day at work today then gym tomorrow so hopefully I can hold onto it.

Octopus37 · 24/09/2021 06:56

Brilliant @TheHoneyBadger 8st11.75 this morning.

LadyDanburysHat · 24/09/2021 08:56

Hi All, thank you for the well wishes. The cold is starting to ease, but I do feel very tired. Having done zero exercise this week and feeling hungry constantly is obviously doing very little for my weight loss. I am 11st 13.5 today. Hope to be back to the gym next week, and that should give some movement.

sparklyglitterball · 24/09/2021 12:47

I'm up a lb from last Friday, which is no surprise following last weekend's wine and carb fest 🙄 we have another party this weekend so more booze and treats........but after that I'm really hoping to see some progress. Hope everyone has a good day.

LBB2020 · 24/09/2021 20:24

@LadyDanburysHat sorry you’ve been unwell (I missed your earlier post!), hope you can get some rest and are feeling better very soon.
Well done on the loses Smile
Another rubbish day here but DH and I have said we’ll sit down and meal plan for next week over the weekend and we’re planning a long walk tomorrow. I have my flu vaccine tomorrow morning so I’m hoping I don’t feel rubbish after that!
