Haha! Off to Aldburgh now . I love the music of Benjamin Britten

Morningmaeve · 03/03/2022 15:00

Wish I was there! Going to have a buttered crumpet to console myself!

Knittingnanny2 · 03/03/2022 17:48

I think we were spoilt by the loveliness of Southwold, although mr knitting nanny enjoyed a smoked herring and Roquefort tart from a fish stall on Aldeburgh seafront!
Stopped at Snape malting son the way back to see Benjamin Britten’s concert hall
Chinese takeaway tonight but I did do 10.000 steps today
Will walk as much as possible around Woodbridge tomorrow to work it off
I think I know why people in the previous centuries were not overweight. They used up all of their calories simply keeping warm! I can’t imagine how cold this holiday cottage was before it had some radiators put in

Knittingnanny2 · 03/03/2022 17:49

Sorry ladies, I’m turning this into a travel/food blog!

neverenoughchelseboots · 03/03/2022 19:42

I like the food and travel blog. It sounds like a fabulous trip - that beach!

neverenoughchelseboots · 03/03/2022 19:43

Healthy veggie recipe recommendation from me ( I don't think I've mentioned before, excuse me if I have). Cauliflower florets brushed with olive oil and plenty of harissa paste, roasted and served with cous cous, green beans and roast cherry tomatoes.

Knittingnanny2 · 03/03/2022 20:11

@neverenoughchelseaboots that sounds yummy

Morningmaeve · 03/03/2022 21:29

I agree - that does sound yummy! I am going to weigh myself tomorrow but I am not expecting it to be good news...

Knittingnanny2 · 03/03/2022 23:08

@morningmaeve I’m not going to weigh until the middle of April!

WellTidy · 04/03/2022 07:42

@Knittingnanny2 that beach is gorgeous and you look really great. Enjoy your time there

Hugely surprised at this morning’s weigh in. After a loss yesterday morning, I am down 0.75lb again overnight to 9st 8.5lb. This was my weight at the end of March last year, so I am ahead of where I was in my weight loss last year, and this pleases me! Determined to walk five miles again today to get up to 25+ miles this week, as I don’t walk really at weekends.

I love anything with harissa in it so that cauliflower and cous cous sounds superb!

Plan for today -

Breakfast/lunch - almond croissant
Dinner - M&S sushi (lots of it) and carrot batons
Snack - small oat latte and leftover fresh fruit salad

Morningmaeve · 04/03/2022 09:14

Well done @WellTidy 😀 No surprise here to find I've gone up and am now over 9stone again. Several weeks with a lot of socialising (ie eating and drinking!) have taken their toll! But I have a wedding to go to at the end of April so I'm not going to let this turn into a major slide.
Today: 9 stone 1lb
Target:
B: tomatoes and leeks on toast (veg needs using up)
L: mushroom soup
D: fish pie and peas

purplegirl13 · 04/03/2022 09:15

@Knittingnanny2 keep the travel/food comments coming!
@neverenoughchelseboots that recipe sounds lovely, and will help me use up the jar of harissa paste sitting in my fridge. I've also never roasted cauliflower at home, even though I've had it out.
@WellTidy you are smashing this weight loss lark!
@Morningmaeve I am committing to a C25K attempt this weekend
waves to @SwimmingOnEggshells @Sooverthemill and anyone else I might have missed.

I am down 0.4lbs from last week but am taking it with a pinch of salt as I was getting sick last night due to a migraine. It's likely dehydration.

B - will treat myself to a shop bought cappuccino
L - sweet potato and coconut soup
I am out tonight to one of London's oldest wine bars so there will be wine and dinner will be a cheeseboard. I will try not to have too much wine as I get palpitations if I drink too much and it's not a pleasant feeling at all.

Knittingnanny2 · 04/03/2022 10:45

Well we both tested negative this morning so fingers crossed that we will stay that way til fit to fly tests on 14 th! We are not going in any cafes or shops etc unless wearing a mask to pick up milk etc.
Overnight oats for breakfast before a day trip to Woodbridge.

purplegirl13 · 04/03/2022 11:27

@Knittingnanny2 I hope you continue to test negative!

I bought my cappuccino but discovered Costa now do a hot cross bun flavoured one, so of course I had to try it. Very tasty, and I succumbed to a slice of carrot cake from the bakery. That will have to be lunch, and keep me going until my cheese board later

SwimmingOnEggshells · 04/03/2022 13:21

Hi everyone, great to see so many updates!

@neverenoughchelseboots I think i could bake the cauliflower in my airfryer, yum! I'm also a fan of harissa.

No move here yet again - 8 stone 11.25lbs, despite not going overboard last weekend and eating a breakfast of cappuccino, soup for lunch and dinner every day during the week. The only treats I've had all week are 3 cadbury's cream eggs which given how little I've been eating really isn't much.

I'm clinging on to the hope that it will start to drop off me soon. My tummy has even been grumbling in bed at night and I've ignored it :(

@WellTidy you are doing brilliantly, well done! I was looking through old posts because I wanted to see where I was last year and it reminded me that you were into gardening - with spring in full force now I'm starting to think of the summer months and what I'll plant in my garden. I have lots of new raised beds put in (well put in last year) but I can't decide what to put into them! Last summer it was pretty much all sweet pea and cosmos...don't think I'll do quite as much this year.

WellTidy · 04/03/2022 15:22

@SwimmingOnEggshells I did less veg last year than I did in 2020, which turned out to be a good decision. I think all I did was tomatoes in the raised beds and some peppers on the patio in pots. I think I will just do tomatoes this year. Are you doing fruit and veg or flowers? I have lots of rhubarb, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and plum, cherry and apple trees. The yellow raspberries do the best by far.

The big success of summer 2021 for me was my dahlias! Grew three varieties from tubers and they were amazing. I had masses of them for months.

I also have loads of bulbs poking through which is making me really happy. Daffodils are just flowering but there is hopefully a lot more to come and I hope it all flowers as I expect it to.

Hope you see a weight loss soon. I know how demoralising it is to be so disciplined and feel that the scales aren’t playing fair.

neverenoughchelseboots · 04/03/2022 20:25

Travel, food and veg growing chat with a bit of weight loss thrown in, I love this thread. I think we'll grow a full set of everything again this year because we had completely different successes and failures to the year before. So hard to know what to drop. We're just nearing the end of the soft fruits from the freezer so ready for the new season.

Hope you're having a lovely time @Knittingnanny2 and keeping everything crossed that you stay negative.

Well done on the losses everyone and hope the cheese board was as good as it sounds @purplegirl13

I was a lb up this week at 9st 7.4 but with pancake day and a household birthday it was scheduled to be a gain.

purplegirl13 · 05/03/2022 09:45

Here's a photo of last night's dinner. Too much wine was consumed

WellTidy · 05/03/2022 10:09

I would have absolutely loved that @purplegirl13, right up my street. Hope you had a great time.

We are going out for an early lunch, so I’ve looked ahead at the menu and will have the chicken burger and a salad. No breakfast today to try and balance things out.

I have seen another surprising loss - 0.5lb off, so 9st 8lb today. I must remember this when I am not seeing any losses or indeed seeing gains. I know that I haven’t lost 3.5lb of fat despite the figures that the scales are showing over the last six days. The now infamous video has really taught me a lot!

neverenoughchelseboots · 06/03/2022 02:06

It's falling off you @WellTidy! Really impressive. And your fitness must be great from all the walking too.

That looks worth the calories @purplegirl13 I love a cheese board. Strangely, I don't really like any other dairy, but I like cheese enough to make up for it.

WellTidy · 06/03/2022 08:08

No idea what is going on here - I am again down overnight. This time 1.25lb off, so I am 9st 6.75lb this morning which puts me in the healthy range BMI for the first time in about eight months.

Let’s see if it stays off. I’m not at all sure it will. I’ve never seen this kind of loss on the scales in a week, I am normally a 1lb a week off kind of person and that’s only if I’m being strict. I have been eating 1200 calories a day, don’t walk at all yesterday and I am well.

Knittingnanny2 · 06/03/2022 11:12

Well tidy well done!
Beans on toast last night to use up stuff I’d brought with us ( plus a big bag of crisps!) so hopefully back on track for a week of serious dieting to fit into SSS
Tested negative again today so fingers are still crossed
Visiting Flatford Mill in the way home shortly so will try to recreate “ The Haywain” scene!

Knittingnanny2 · 06/03/2022 16:11

Haywain’s gone!

Morningmaeve · 07/03/2022 10:33

Nice photo @Knittingnanny2. Did you manage to get out for a run @purplegirl13 ? I did another week 3 run of C25K. I'm meant to repeat it once more and then try week 4. Also did 20 mins on exercise bike (not on same day)!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 07/03/2022 10:47

@WellTidy I'm not much of a fruit and veg gardener, I grew tomatoes a few years ago and my DD ate a few that were lying on the soil and the next day she was in hospital for 9 days so I've been a bit put off to say the least! They never got to the bottom of what it was, some very strange infection but she was so unbelievably sick that I never want to grow another tomato again :)

I'm going to plant more dahlias I think, I planted some 'dinner-plate' ones last year and they were very impressive. I'll do sweet pea again, but not as much and I plan on putting in more jasmine against the fences.

@purplegirl13 the cheese board looks delicious, I hope you enjoyed it!

This weekend was ok for me, I wasn't dieting but I don't think I overdid it too badly.

The little thumbnail of your photo looks like an oil painting @Knittingnanny2!
