I'm about to try on 5 pairs of jeans I ordered from Next. Wish me luck!

Knittingnanny2 · 19/02/2022 12:50

Good luck
I emptied my summer clothes storage and have made a long shortlist!
I placed small bids on about 8 maxi dresses on eBay and forgot about it
I won them all......
3 went straight in the charity bag, one in the bin, one will be cut up for dolls clothes leaving 3 nice ones!

Morningmaeve · 19/02/2022 17:24

How did the jeans try-on go @purplegirl13 ? M&S is my go-to for jeans - the petite works for my 5ft 2in frame. I bought two of the last pair I liked as I hate shopping for jeans Smile Haven't weighed this week - and am away for a few days shortly which won't do me any favours on the scales...

neverenoughchelseboots · 19/02/2022 18:57

Hope the trying on was successful @purplegirl13.

I've never tried M&S jeans. I'm currently liking Fat Face and Jigsaw ones. But I'm not enjoying waistbands on anything after covid comfies and being pregnant. Everything feels 'there' and noticeable even when the fit is okay.

purplegirl13 · 19/02/2022 20:40

Jeans - it was a disaster. Will try other brands as suggested.

l'm out with friends in central London! Can't believe I'm out out. Drinking in a quiet pub sipping away on rum and cokes

WellTidy · 20/02/2022 17:09

I’ve had a great weekend but a bloody awful one on the scales. Eaten and drank far too much for weight loss, and this morning I was back up to 9st 12.25lb, which is a 2lb gain in one weekend. Yikes. Indeed!

Dismal weather here so I haven’t walked. I’ve eaten pretty mindfully today and given the amount I ate on Friday evening and yesterday, I’m not that hungry. Will do six miles tomorrow and aim for 1000 calories.

Forgot to report back on my outfit for next weekend M&S do. I bought a navy jumpsuit in Coast petite (online) which I’m really pleased with. Wearing it with navy heeled shoe boots (to try and look taller) and will try on some chunky necklaces this week to lift it a bit. I have a yellow envelope clutch bag so I’m going to take that too. I think I will get a lot of wear out of the jumpsuit for evenings out etc. It has small sleeves just past the shoulder so would be nice for spring/summer too.

WellTidy · 21/02/2022 19:45

Down to 9st 11.5lb this morning, which is better than yesterday but pretty much where I was 10-14 days ago, all due to this weekend’s shenanigans.

I’ve walked for two hours today and come in at 1100 calories so I’m back in it and hoping to stay on track for next weekend’s celebrations.

Move spent some time today putting outfits together. I found a couple of pairs of trainers that I had forgotten about, and some wide leg trousers and sweaters. I also fit into some more current looking jeans that I bought just before the pandemic. They would look better if I was a good few pounds lighter but they do fit, which is pleasing.

purplegirl13 · 21/02/2022 20:18

@WellTidy jeans that fit are a win for the day!
@neverenoughchelseaboots I tend to put weight mostly on my boobs/tummy so get what you mean about really noticing the waistbands just 'there'. Were the fatface/jigsaw jeans petite/short?
@Morningmaeve are those M&S jeans you bought still available? Would you mind linking to them?
@Knittingnanny2 I love the Boden maxi dresses but jersey will possibly be too warm for you when away

I was properly out on Saturday night, drank FAR too much and I got home at 3am!

Yesterday morning I fell over a mop as it was sliding down, and my shoulder went straight into a pair of large dumbbells that were on the floor. I avoided A&E yesterday as had codeine at home but the pain/swelling worsened as the day went on. A visit to urgent care this morning shows no break. I have limited movement using my right side (dominant side) and I'm in extreme pain. I very seriously considered cutting myself out of my t-shirt this morning!

I don't want this to derail my my eating this week so I've picked up some fresh soups, spanish omelette, cheese and olives etc. I basically need to eat convenience food as can't even use a knife and fork. I need to produce limited dirty dishes as washing them is just about do-able if I'm very careful with my movements. The joy of living alone.

I don't want to rely on sandwiches/bread so think sushi might be an option, maybe some itsu pot noodle type meals. Any other vegetarian suggestions?

Knittingnanny2 · 21/02/2022 20:29

Yes jersey dresses will be too warm. I’ve got some knee length linen dresses from next a few years ago and a couple of cotton maxis that fit ok at the moment( with no room for growth!)

Morningmaeve · 22/02/2022 09:26

@purplegirl13 sorry to hear you are in pain. Hope it eases soon. I can't link to the jeans unfortunately as was several years ago. They've lasted really well but that is probably down to me having two pairs to rotate and wearing joggers so much in lockdown!

neverenoughchelseboots · 22/02/2022 09:51

Cripes @purplegirl13. That sounds bad, hope you mend quickly. Are you able to work?

What about falafel wraps for a lighter bread option? I always struggle for veggie lunch ideas and have a cheese sandwich pretty much everyday! I do enjoy it though so not too much of a hardship. I have it on trashy white sliced bread because I love it!

I also worry that while I can have that and lose weight, what if I stopped having it and then it started making me gain if I started up again. Does that make sense?!

purplegirl13 · 22/02/2022 10:29

Thankfully pain seems to be better today but I've not been awake long due to the strong painkillers. I can work better than expected, and type with two hands if I am careful with my shoulder, but I'll work sporadically doing easier stuff which works out better than not working at all.

@Morningmaeve I do the same if I find something I like, but my jeans are far too old and baggy and the smaller size I have doesn't fit.

@neverenoughchelseaboots makes perfect sense which is why I like to keep cake in my life. Wraps are a good idea but I can't roll it without jarring my shoulder.

B - greek yoghurt, blueberries, flaked almonds
L - soup
D - takeaway sushi

Sooverthemill · 23/02/2022 09:46

Sorry I've been AWOL, DD has been very unwell and I have been struggling. I've managed to keep up with daily yoga but have been eating so badly even with limited diet I've put in weight and feel crap. DH is away from tomorrow with our eldest two on a walking break and from next Tuesday when he's home I'm going to start healthy eating again with meal planning and everything.
Hope everyone is okay, will read back now

Sooverthemill · 23/02/2022 09:51

@Knittingnanny2

Well I’ve fallen off the wagon dramatically today and yesterday! Trying to persuade 4 yr old to take the foulest ever antibiotic, I had a small taste myself and had to eat a creme egg to try and take away the taste! Could still taste it 2 hours later Then had a huge wedge of crusty bread with my homemade veggie lasagne. Tomorrow is another day and as I only bought one creme egg I have no temptation in the house Mr knitting nanny now has only toffees left from Christmas which I avoid for dentist reasons! Very bad weather tomorrow so planning to get out the SSS wardrobe which will keep me on the straight and narrow I hope!
When DD was little we always had a supply of marshmallows or hersheys kisses ( sent by my USA based sister) to give her after every tablet or spoon of medicine. I still give her a marshmallow after antibiotics! She was on them over Christmas and I had to send DH out to Waitrose to get some. They help.
WellTidy · 23/02/2022 11:16

@purplegirl13 sorry to hear about your injury. It’s so tough being limited, it makes you have to think everything through. I hope it improves

@Sooverthemill sorry to hear about your DD’s difficult time. You’re right to just try and get through for now I think. I’ve always been in awe of your self-control. When ds2 is challenging (happens frequently) I always turn to the sugar.

Down to 9st 11lb here (weight I was about 10 days ago), having walked six miles twice this week and planning the same for later. Beautifully clear and sunny here so I’m looking forward to it. I have a podcast at the ready to keep me company. I’m watching the tennis now but will go as soon as it’s over.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 23/02/2022 14:09

Jeepers @purplegirl13 that sounds nasty! and kind of frightening too. You know me, I like soups, could you buy some nice gourmet ones?

I had a fall myself over the weekend but I'm ashamed to say it was because of my dance moves Blush. My next door neighbours are SUCH bad influence and their new floors are really slippery. I completely blame them, not my fault at all, I swear! So now I have a gigantic black bruise on my upper arm which is really embarrassing, it's putting me off going spinning because I don't want anyone to see it.

So I fell off the wagon again for a few days and I also weighed in at 9 stone the other day which really pissed me off. Why is my weight going UP and not down? I've cut out the oats/yoghurt thing because I can't exercise restraint and end up eating a massive portion. I had a salad for lunch yesterday, coffee for breakfast, a banana and kedgeree for dinner. Plus a dairy milk chocolate bar, and too much Terry's chocolate orange.

Today I've had coffee, banana, two chocolate rice cakes and scrambled eggs, dinner will be cannelloni. My weakness is chocolate lately, I crave it. Particularly cadbury's, I love it! I'm going to plod on anyway, need to keep trying.

@WellTidy your outfit sounds so nice! I've never been able to find a jumpsuit that fits and I find they always look so flattering on people. My cousin wore one to my sister's wedding and it was so chic. She definitely had the best outfit on the day (bar my sis of course!)

Knittingnanny2 · 23/02/2022 16:16

@SwimmingOnEggshells mr knittingnanny went to slug and lettuce after cinema with the grandchildren whilst I looked after the baby and I’m going to have a Terry’s chocolate orange for my tea
Probably most of it

purplegirl13 · 23/02/2022 17:27

Just a quick check in to say I'm eating a few more takeaways, even though I had supplies in. I'm in pain and grumpy. I'm horribly independent and this injury has made me feel vulnerable. I've got dishes and laundry piling up and no close friends locally. I spoke to my sister and she brought me some cake and collected some dirty laundry to wash. I'm now binge watching ' love is blind' so I'm caught up in time for the finale on Friday

SwimmingOnEggshells · 24/02/2022 15:48

Oh @purplegirl13 you must be really incapacitated. That's awful :( did the drs say how long you'd be like this for?

purplegirl13 · 24/02/2022 17:50

@SwimmingOnEggshells thankfully today is better, pain has lessened and I'm more mobile. I've managed to wash all the dishes! Will be careful not to push myself

neverenoughchelseboots · 25/02/2022 14:15

Half a pound off for me this week at 9st 8.2. It was another half a pound lighter earlier in the week but more sickness has raged through the house with baby having 40 degree temps so it's all gone to pot. And the covid testing site is next to Gregs....

SwimmingOnEggshells · 25/02/2022 14:54

8'11 here, weight just isn't budging.

I was out for dinner last night but made very wise choices on the food front - steamed gyoza and then a sashimi salad (+ wine). Absolutely delicious and I'd a great night night out with three old school friends.

All this post-covid socialising is great but it's not doing my wallet any favours!

Sooverthemill · 26/02/2022 08:32

I'm stuck but trying to make slightly healthier choices. DD gave me some chocolate and I really didn't like it. My tastes have changed with the intolerances which may or may not be helpful!

Sooverthemill · 26/02/2022 08:33

@purplegirl13 I hope you are okay

WellTidy · 28/02/2022 09:48

How are we all? Hope you had enjoyable weekends.

Big weekend happened here with a wedding celebration and lots of events that involved eating around that. So not just one blow out but several. I am 9st 11lb this morning which was my weight according to my fitness pal on Thursday 10th February. Yikes. I have yo-yo-ed since then. No big celebrations planned until Easter now so no excuse not to get back on it properly.

February hasn’t shown the results that I’d hoped for but that’s down to my choices! Hopefully March will be better. But it starts with pancake day tomorrow …
