My Nikes are the same @WellTidy, why do they make running shoes that are not waterproof?!

I'm aiming for 8'6 for now because I was that a few months ago but down to 8 would be amazing! What happens is I get to 8'6 and then all hell will break lose and I go back to bad habits...I just can't seem to maintain and seem to be in this neverending loop of dieting-not-dieting-dieting-not-dieting

WellTidy · 15/02/2022 15:08

Wow, swimming 8st 6lb is a huge achievement and I hope you get back there.

I was 9st 3lb last May, and I remember thinking that if I kept going, another half a stone would get me to 8st 10lb, which would be great for me. Except that I stopped doing what I was doing and then got up to 10st 5lb by the end of the year. I am really determined not to get into that dieting-eating everything pattern again. Daily weighing isn’t advised (understandably so) but it works for me as it keeps me accountable and stops the slide up.

Right. I am going for a walk at 4pm. Planning an hour and a half (4-5 miles) if I have any chance of staying the same for now.

neverenoughchelseboots · 15/02/2022 19:44

Hello all, hope you're all having nice weeks.

I'm hoping for a decent loss when I weigh this Friday as a sickness bug has brought our household to its knees. I've eaten most of a piece of toast and 2 custard creams in 24 hours.

To make matters worse it was my first day back at work! So I've been feeling dreadful and had to have the children at home. DS was patient zero and had stopped 48 hrs earlier so he could go to nursery today. In some ways it made him going a little easier as I was just so glad to have one less thing to muster a shred of energy for today.

Feeling much better now but think I'll still leave it to tomorrow to eat.

Secretly hoping for a 9st 10 on Friday but we'll see.

neverenoughchelseboots · 15/02/2022 19:45

Oh and if it helps @purplegirl13 I think five guys is foul. I'm not sure if I ordered badly (I got a hot dog) but I was so disappointed I actually felt sad. Does anyone else get that sadness/anger about a disappointing meal?

And it's really expensive!

Morningmaeve · 16/02/2022 08:16

Sorry you've had such a tough week @neverenoughchelseboots. What rubbish timing but I hope the return to work goes okay. I hear you @SwimmingOnEggshells re stalled weight loss and your post made me realise I've been essentially the same weight give or take for five MONTHS. This thread has ensured I haven't gone up but I haven't gone down either. Maybe this is as low as I can go without cutting anything that gives me joy out of my diet? I'll continue with C25K and less booze and see how I get on. Don't get me wrong I'm delighted to be staying under 9 stone reliably but I guess I just hadn't really realised there had been no actual progress in a long time....

Knittingnanny2 · 16/02/2022 09:18

@morningmaeve I think the same , if I want to be any lower I will have no food joy in my life.

WellTidy · 16/02/2022 11:11

Quarter of a pound down today to 9st 10.5lb (8.5lb lost since the start of the year).

@Morningmaeve @Knittingnanny2 it’s hard when you’re a shortie AND enjoy food. There are so few calories to play with. I think you’re both really inspirational (you too @SwimmingOnEggshells), I would love to be as low as you’ve managed to be.

I have an evening g wedding ado at the end of next week and I’ve bought a new outfit. I have another stone to lose, but I’m already feeling so much better in myself. My self-esteem is more tied to my weight than I’d like, which I know isn’t healthy, but working on both!

WellTidy · 16/02/2022 11:12

@neverenoughchelseaboots I hope you’re all on the mend. I’ve returned to work twice after maternity and remember how overwhelming it is and such a juggle.

@purplegirl13 how are you doing today?

SwimmingOnEggshells · 16/02/2022 11:33

Oh @neverenoughchelseaboots that sounds rough, but if you get a loss this week maybe it's a case of every cloud and all that? Grin

@morningmaeve @WellTidy I was only saying to DH this morning that if I stayed this weight for the rest of my life I'd be happy which is a good sign :)

@WellTidy I think for so many of us self-esteem is linked to our weight, so I hear you. If I'm completely honest with myself it's just plain old vanity that makes me want to be slim!

I'd love to go to a wedding, haven't been to one in years because pretty much everyone's married now. Will it involve a night away or anything?

WellTidy · 16/02/2022 11:42

DH’s cousin is getting married - nearly everyone I know my age is already married (some divorced), his cousin is probably just young enough to be my daughter. So it’s another generation of weddings for us to go to! Yes, an overnight stay! What luxury.

Ds1 and my themed afternoon tea planned for this afternoon has been cancelled as childcare for my DS2 (who has SN) has fallen through. I have mixed feelings about this. Obviously it’s a shame as I booked it knowing how much he would enjoy it, me too, but it’s a lot of calories that I now won’t eat, which will help my current downward weight loss arc. We’ve been to wilko for pick and mix for him to try and make up for it! Four white mice and four fizzy cherry cola bottles in there for me (I really love them) Blush

purplegirl13 · 16/02/2022 13:02

I can't keep up with this thread now it's more active :)

@WellTidy did you manage to get out yesterday for a walk? I saw your other thread, what did you buy to wear in the end? sorry to hear your plans for this afternoon have changed
@SwimmingOnEggshells I think you are doing so well with your exercise!
@neverenoughchelseaboots sounds like a horrible week so far! I'm sad when food turns out to be disappointing thankfully it's a rare occasion. How are you feeling today?
@Morningmaeve my ultimate goal ws 8st5-8st7 but not all sure it is realistic I think exercise and less alcohol might be the key for you, and like you say at least you're not gaining. In my case it's much more exercise and lots less cheese needed.

So yesterday's lunch was an amazing halloumi burger, and the best ever cheesy fries at burger place @WellTidy if you are in London (I don't know why I think you might be) I'll share the details, as I know you're a burger fan (unless it's only 5 guys!) I was so sleepy I knew I wouldn't be able to work for the rest of the day so took A/L, brought my nephew home and we FINALLY watched Encanto on Disney+. No dinner due to the massive lunch and the afternoon popcorn kept me going.

Today:
B - cocnut kefir drink
L - cauliflower rice, dal, kimchi
D - tbc

I've got a batch of cherry tomatoes roasting away so might turn it into soup later

Also, I'm still trying to get into a mindset of food not being 'good' or 'bad'. There's nourishing/nutritious food and there's 'joy/play' food for the popcorn/cakes etc.

purplegirl13 · 16/02/2022 13:07

everyone Any ideas for healthy meals I can make with veggie meatball/mince? I seem to have a huge bag of both from Ikea.
I'm drawing a complete blank.

For the meatballs I can only think to serve with pasta but would ideally like to reduce pasta/bread intake. Rice/potatoes are ok

neverenoughchelseboots · 16/02/2022 13:09

@WellTidy that's an amazing amount since the start of the year.

I'm much better, thank you all for well wishes. I weighed myself last night and had lost 3 lbs since last week but know it's massive dehydration. If I can keep half of the loss I'll be happy. It's looking like DH hasn't escaped like we thought and he's just retreated to bed. At least he's the last one in the house to have it.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 16/02/2022 14:01

@purplegirl13 nigel slater does a pork meatball recipe that you might be able to adapt. This is it: www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/porkpattieswithancho_92529

neverenoughchelseboots · 16/02/2022 14:54

This really doesn't help with your veggie mince @purplegirl13 but for future I make these for veggie meatballs, using roast aubergine and breadcrumbs and they're lovely. www.greatitalianchefs.com/recipes/polpette-di-melanzane-recipe-aubergine-fritters/amp

SwimmingOnEggshells · 16/02/2022 15:28

@neverenoughchelseaboots your food/cooking always sounds delicious. How is your DD with fussiness these days? I remember you saying you were having food battles in the past. My DD who wasn't fussy has become more fussy, but my vegetarian 6yo DS has improved a teeny bit.

purplegirl13 · 16/02/2022 17:19

@SwimmingOnEggshells thanks for the link, I would not have thought to serve meatballs like that. I think I'll cook the frozen meatballs in a creamy mushroom sauce and serve up with kale/chard as suggested.

@neverenoughchelseaboots ooh they look lovely, adding to my pinterest board!

Dinner tonight is going to be roast potatoes and gravy, nothing else as that's what I have a craving for

SwimmingOnEggshells · 16/02/2022 17:19

@WellTidy an overnight stay- woohoo! Enjoy the treats, that's some excellent restraint you're showing there :)

Knittingnanny2 · 17/02/2022 21:18

Well I’ve fallen off the wagon dramatically today and yesterday!
Trying to persuade 4 yr old to take the foulest ever antibiotic, I had a small taste myself and had to eat a creme egg to try and take away the taste! Could still taste it 2 hours later
Then had a huge wedge of crusty bread with my homemade veggie lasagne.
Tomorrow is another day and as I only bought one creme egg I have no temptation in the house
Mr knitting nanny now has only toffees left from Christmas which I avoid for dentist reasons!
Very bad weather tomorrow so planning to get out the SSS wardrobe which will keep me on the straight and narrow I hope!

neverenoughchelseboots · 18/02/2022 05:44

You've been doing so well @Knittingnanny2 and it doesn't sound like the worst slip up. I'm sure it's not going to be detrimental. In fact, back in the day when modernfeminity was here, she used to say she'd always get the next jump down after a day of more calories. I do often wonder if she's maintaining, she was so disciplined and go down to the mid 7 stones!

Thanks @SwimmingOnEggshells. I've said before that DH naturally enjoys healthier meals, he's also a very appreciative recipient of my cooking. So when someone is genuinely grateful and says thank you at every mealtime, it's easier to want to cook.

I'm 2.5lbs down on last week's Friday weigh in thanks to the bug:

Today 9st 8.7
2022 start 10st 5.1
Target - 9st

WellTidy · 18/02/2022 09:16

@neverenoughchelseaboots I hope you’re feeling ok. That big got a real hold of you, that’s a big loss. I don’t want to say well done though! I just hope you’re feeling ok.

@Knittingnanny2 aaaah, I’ve done plenty worse than that! I’m sure it won’t have a long term effect. Good luck with the next few days.

Friday weigh in of 9st 10.75lb. I was 9st 11.25lb this time last week. It’s a loss, so I’m happy. Big day planned for tomorrow as I’m seeing friends so will have to reset after that. I walking for me today either due to the weather forecast so I will have to keep things under control.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/02/2022 09:30

No move here again which is quite frustrating. I've already done 3 spin classes this week and my diet has been really good. Currently at 8,11 and 1/4.

I think I need to go and watch a Jordan Syatt video. Well done on the loss @neverenoughchelseboots, that's excellent for one week, bug aside!

Knittingnanny2 · 18/02/2022 10:25

@neverenoughchelseaboots 7 st sounds really low. There is a lady about my age ( mid 60’s) at my choir and she is very very thin, about my height. I can honestly say it’s not the look I’m going for, far too thin, almost bony. Each to their own though. I’d love to be able to stick at just under 9 st, all of my clothes fit nicely at that weight, it’s a great help for my knees to have weight off and I haven’t gone too thin in the face!

purplegirl13 · 18/02/2022 16:03

@Knittingnanny2 that doesn't sound too bad at all, and only buying one creme egg was very restrained.
@neverenoughchelseaboots You've had a decent loss, shame about the cause. I also think of modern and wonder how she is doing. Was it her who used to say 'delay, not deny'?
@WellTidy you're doing so well!
@SwimmingOnEggshells hey, at least it's not a gain :)
@Morningmaeve @Sooverthemill thinking of you

I'm didn't weigh last week as I was away but the scales have been showing 10st4-10st5 this week, so I am pleasantly surprised to have weighed in at 10st3.2 today
I started the year at 10st4 so not a great result overall, but I've loved my recent socialising

How are the blustery winds by you all? I hope you are tucked up safely at home.

My food today:
B - greek yoghurt, blueberries, flaxseed
L - egg mayo sandwich (made with rye bread)
S - a few squares of dark choc, and I've managed to not to go back for more (yet!)
D - tbc

Knittingnanny2 · 18/02/2022 17:35

We stayed in all day and did a jigsaw! Steak and chips for tea as it’s an odd sort of day
