@morningmaeve great exercise there!

@Knittingnanny2 lovely photo, both you and the setting look lovely

@SwimmingOnEggshells I have everlasting sweet peas (perennial) which are prolific flowering and so petty but zero scent, unfortunately. I put a jasmine each side of the bay window in the fro t of the house and they’re really lovely, I do like jasmine. We have another on the fence next to our ‘garden room’ (posh shed at the end of the garden) and the scent is superb. Well worth having! I may go for more dahlias this year, those massive ones are so impressive

Up 0.75lb overnight to 9st 7.5lb which is to be expected after almost 5lb off in a week. So bizarre. Waking for five miles today to try and stay the same.

Morningmaeve · 07/03/2022 11:39

Very envious of the dahlia success - the slugs got mine...

Knittingnanny2 · 07/03/2022 12:02

Thank you for the lovely comments- I’m remembering during lockdown when I couldn’t get to the hairdressers for months I grew out a chin length bob and decided to join in a thread ( with photos!) on mumsnet about long hair. Big mistake! I was... too old, ends were dry, hair looked “ crispy” made me look
“ even older”, “ have you considered what other people might be secretly thinking about your hair?” Etc etc! My lovely step daughters with long swishy black hair would tell me when it gets too long for a 65 year old!
Using up fridge and freezer stuff before Singapore week weds so
Overnight oats
Fruit snack
Salmon and lots of green veg plus a fat free yoghurt

neverenoughchelseboots · 07/03/2022 14:15

Gosh people are horrid on here aren't they, they say all sorts of things because it's anonymous. Although I had a good one this week in person from a school mum - told me how good I looked for someone with a 3 month old and swiftly followed up with how the lbs pile back on once you stop breastfeeding. Gee thanks! 😂

I can't believe that about the tomatoes @SwimmingOnEggshells. That must have been so scary. I'm trying to remember if I even washed mine last year after I picked them. I definitely will be doing from now on.

@WellTidy I knew you'd recorded lots of losses but hadn't realised it was 5lb in a week. That's bonkers.

purplegirl13 · 08/03/2022 10:57

I'm loving all this fruit/veg/flower growing talk. I only have a Juliet balcony so I tend to pot trailing pansies and the like which do well as I get a lot of sunshine (and I'm a tiny bit neglectful :)) and I have given up on cherry tomatoes. It is not worth the time and effort for the 6-10 cherry tomatoes which are produced!!

@WellTidy I can't believe it's a 5lb loss in a week! wow
@Morningmaeve no run as the excess wine caused my heart rate to go quite high and thought best not to add to it. Well done for getting out, and using the exercise bike!
@SwimmingOnEggshells eek, I don't blame you for not growing tomatoes again after your previous experience
@Knittingnanny2 well we lovely ladies on this thread think you look fabulous!
@neverenoughchelseaboots how's the biscuit habit these days?

My eating has been ok since Sunday, but doubt I'll see a loss after all the wine on Friday.
I'm starting to go in the office 1-2 days a week from this week - I'll be seeing people I've never met in person before and I'm having a total panic about how little I have to wear!!

I'm off to the Royal Albert Hall tonight, and I am very excited! It's been years since I was there.

B - greek yogurt, blackberries, flaked almonds
L - tbc - maybe scrambled eggs/omelette
D - pizza or pasta (out at an Italian restaurant tonight)

Knittingnanny2 · 08/03/2022 11:17

Ah thank you!
I’m envious of the Albert hall trip, what are you seeing/listening to? I’d love to have gone to the classic fm concert on April 11 th but I fear I’ve left it too late to book. I was thinking of making a weekend of it, joining a singing day with John Rutter in a church in London on the 9 th and then the concert on 11 th, but my choir has concert on 9 th so have abandoned that idea.
Yesterday started well, overnight oats, nut snacks and then a use up veggie and dip, yoghurt sort of tea. Then it all went wrong as I sat in front of tv watching “ our House” and ate my way through a lot of dairy Lea crackers, my current addiction!
Negative tests again this morning.
Going for a brisk windy walk shortly and now the crackers have gone I won’t buy any more.
Bought an all in one summery jumpsuit sort of thing in Asda last night and their “ small” is ridiculous! I’m a decent size 12 and their small is labelled 8-10 but plenty of room for me in it.
Finished all of my knitting for Singapore ( topsyturvy Cinderella) so will have to find something else to keep my hands busy in the evening to stop mindless eating.
Have a lovely day everyone

purplegirl13 · 08/03/2022 11:26

@Knittingnanny2 I am seeing www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/events/2022/this-is-the-kit/ who I'd never heard of but they were free tickets from a friend who forgot they had this booked (it was rescheduled from last year). They don't live in London and this new date isn't convenient due to work/childcare.

I do like the look of the support act Jesca Hoop jescahoop.bandcamp.com/

Ooh thanks for the jumpsuit tip, I'll have a look online to see if it's available

Knittingnanny2 · 08/03/2022 11:30

The jumpsuit was ridiculously cheap! £14 and Asda have 20% off, I went for the polka dot one. My husband said it looked. Nice on but did initially think it was pyjamas!

WellTidy · 08/03/2022 12:20

@Knittingnanny2 I’ve ordered that jumpsuit! So easily led!! Delivery by next Monday, it says. I am hoping it will do me well for pool and beach holidays this year.

Enjoy your evening @purplegirl13. Sounds superb. The benefits of living in London, I absolutely love it.

WellTidy · 08/03/2022 12:24

Oh, on the weight loss front! Getting distracted there! I did indeed ‘put on’ 0.75lb when I weighed yesterday morning, but stayed the same as that when I weighed this morning. It has been a bizarre ten days.

I’ve walked for eight miles today, but am now eating a Krispy kreme chocolate dreamcake donut, which I think works out as the entire amount of calories burnt when walking. I’m my own worst enemy. Going to spend March planning which Easter egg I will ask DH for!

Knittingnanny2 · 08/03/2022 13:00

Yes it’s only to wear on holiday for me- a 65 year old with long hair and in a jump suit! My mother would would have been horrified! I will still look like a barrel next to my slinky petite daughter in law next week. Not sure what size a real 8-10 would be in asda clothing! Probably would have to buy aged 12-13 years

WellTidy · 08/03/2022 14:11

I really like the Asda swimming costume with ruching round the tummy. I can see that this season they have a black one and a red one but hardly any sizes left online. I’ve had them in other years and they are really thick, plenty of substance to them and they are really flattering. I’ve had it in black and in cobalt blue and it is my favourite, over and above more expensive brands like seafolly.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 09/03/2022 10:28

I bought a seafolly swimsuit online about 6 months ago and it's awful on me, too small and makes loads of back fat squash out. I couldn't return it because it was a swim suit so it was a complete waste of money.

I'm going to have to start thinking about swim suits because we're supposed to be going to Greece on holiday this summer and I'm starting to get a little concerned about it given the situation in Ukraine... We're supposed to have it paid off by the end of this month...

As for the diet, it's not going amazingly here, I reckon I'm eating maintenance calories. Yesterday I had:

Coffee x 2 (1 a cappuccino on skimmed milk)
Banana
Small bag of popcorn
2 x chocolate rice cakes
Pasta arrabiata
3 x tiny dairy milks
1 glass of wine with dinner.

I normally don't drink during the week these days but when i got home from work last night DH had it already poured with my dinner for international women's day which was lovely :)

Nearly at 1000 posts on the thread! Anyone like to start a new one?

Hope you're all having a good week, virtuous or not.

I'm a bit annoyed that my blow out for pancake day and the birthday party have set me back. It's made me realise how important consistency is. It's all well and good thinking It's a one off, but it takes two days to put it on and weeks to get rid off it.

I'm just about back to where I was a fortnight ago at 9st 6.6lbs. But considering I've been losing 1-1.5 lbs a week, it's a real stall in progress.

@purplegirl13 the biscuit situation isn't great. I tried to wean myself off with rich tea. But I ended up putting the chocolate spread from pancake day on them to sweeten them up. So I've resumed custard creams which I absolutely love and at 58 calories they're not terrible.

@WellTidy did you manage to maintain after your mega drop? I'm fascinated by it!

@Knittingnanny2 hope you're still negative and looking forward to the trip.

WellTidy · 10/03/2022 09:34

I did maintain-ish. I dropped down a little further to 9st 6.5lb yesterday but up to 9st 7lb today. I did have too much pasta, pesto and bacon for dinner last night so no surprise. I am now expecting to stall (at least) though. The gods surely won’t let me continue to ride that crest of a wave!

Biscuits - I decided at the start of the year only to buy ginger nuts. They’re 41 calories each and I always have two. Sweet enough for me and I think having two rather than one helps me feel less hard done by.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 10/03/2022 10:09

I'm the opposite with ginger nuts, I'm dangerous with a packet of ginger nuts and a cup of tea. There really is no better biscuit for dunking! I'm also a fan of custard creams...must not think about biscuits...they're not my worst weakness though. Chocolate however ...I'm still in a dairy milk mood lately but I'm managing to keep it at manageable levels. I take the tiniest of nibbles of the little mini ones and make it last ages, it really helps!

So I think my lunches of soup are starting to pay off, I finally saw a drop today!!! now at 8stone 10.25lbs.

Sooverthemill · 10/03/2022 10:47

Hello all! I'm sorry I dropped off the thread. DD has been frighteningly unwell and it's been almost 2 weeks of hell. GP, nurse, A&E ( high is dreadful for a young adult who cannot sit up), lots of antibiotics, steroids and no sleep.
Anyway @Knittingnanny2 I hope you enjoyed a lovely bit of the world. Snape is fabulous, we've been to see concerts before we lived here and DH has been to several since. I love it. Enjoy Singapore

So I've fallen off the wagon big time, I have been eating stuff at all hours, ready meals, crisps, biscuits. I weigh over 9 stone and it's really depressing. My stress levels are through the roof! But DD is the important thing.

purplegirl13 · 10/03/2022 10:47

A quick check in I'll be offline for a few days at least. I'm starting to have an IBD flare up so my beige diet commences. I'm doing my best to not buy white bread, and if I feel well enough later I will make a mushroom risotto. I can eat fruit and veg without skin/ seeds and have to avoid the very fibourous/cruciferous

My night at the Albert Hall was lovely, music was great and we had dinner at the Italian restaurant there.

Hope you're all ok and all this biscuit talk is making me want some...

Knittingnanny2 · 10/03/2022 11:19

@Sooverthemill I’m so sorry to hear about your difficult life at the moment, you must just eat whatever you fancy and know that you can concentrate on the diet at a later date
Yes we went to snape but didn’t get to a concert. I sneaked into the concert hall though just to have a look. Benjamin Britten is a favourite of mine from school days playing the violin in Soirée Musicales!
Using up fridge and freezer stuff before big trip so having odd combinations! Mr knitting nanny has 2 portions of homemade chilli to get through which I’m not that fussed about so will have omelettes. Then all that’s left is salmon
Sounds healthy but me knittingnanny has already mentioned “ pensioners fish and chips” today!
Going to try and increase my step count over the next few days as I find Singapore walking impossible in the heat. And I’m not a swimmer so I will only be splashing in the shallow end with toddlers!
My sons house has 5 levels though and the spare room is on level 4 so hopefully up and down the stairs will give me some exercise
How is our little babychelseaboots?

Knittingnanny2 · 10/03/2022 11:22

@purplegirl13 hope you feel better soon mushroom risotto is one of my favourite meals and I want one now. I bought a readymade one once from asda and it was horrid! I quite enjoy standing over the job making one from scratch. I have to eat it all by myself though as it’s far to bland for Mrknittingnanny. Although he’s lived in uk since 1975 his palate is still Far Eastern!

Knittingnanny2 · 10/03/2022 11:22
