You’re all very kind, thank you. The video is fantastic. I get it far more now.

Great that this thread is so popular that we need a second. I am feeling better already Smile

modernfemininity · 15/03/2021 19:13

Morningmaeve · 15/03/2021 20:49

New thread! Go us small people :)

SwimmingOnEggshells · 15/03/2021 21:41

Woohoo! New thread. Thanks @neverenoughchelseaboots. Being OP In the last thread really kept me on track as I felt I needed to be accountable. Will be interesting to see how I get on now...

Delighted you liked the video @WellTidy and @FedNandlers. He's great, I love his no nonsense approach 😀

I didn't go mad this weekend, fingers crossed it pays off🤞🏻

WellTidy · 16/03/2021 07:29

Delighted to report that I’ve gone down 1lb overnight, so now at 9st 9.5lb. The video explains so much. I am much happier today, and far more prepared than I was to deal with my thoughts about spikes and stagnations. Off for a long walk again today, and I won’t be hoping (as I was) to see a big drop tomorrow, just want to maintain momentum and keep on track.

FedNlanders · 16/03/2021 07:51

I reallyenjoyed the video. Im at 11st 4 this morning. So so hoping to see the 9st 10s soon.

FedNlanders · 16/03/2021 07:51

I mean 9st 11.4

whoami24601 · 16/03/2021 08:06

Hi! Can I join in? I'm currently 10st 8lb. At 5' 2" that's not great! Am doing 5:2 which is working (lost 4lb in 4 weeks). Hoping to get down to 9st which is where I feel happy (and where my clothes fit!) Are you all doing different diets?

WellTidy · 16/03/2021 08:11

Hi who! Please do! I am 5 foot 1, and was 10st 13lb when I joined at the start of the year. Now 9st 9.5lb and still hoping to lose as bear to another stone as possible. I calorie count (tracking with my fitness pal) but I think we all probably do something a bit different.

Morningmaeve · 16/03/2021 08:35

Welcome @whoami24601 - yes we are all doing our own thing diet-wise but sharing insight into the extra issues that come with being small while trying to lose weight. I've lost a stone since last summer and am currently 9st 3.4lb. I want to get under 9 stone and reassess then. I'm 5ft 2in and doing a mix in calorie counting, cutting carbs and intermittent fasting.

BunnyJumper · 16/03/2021 08:37

Hi 🙋‍♀️

I need serious help.
I was meant to get married last July so I lost weight and got a lovely wedding dress.

And now I've gained so much weight I'm 5ft 2in and 11stone as of this morning. The wedding is in august and I just need to get this weight off or I'm gonna have to get another dress :(

Finding it really hard to get on the diet wagon :(
Feeling really hopeless and can't even get excited about wedding planning because I feel very low about my weight.

Today is a new day and I need to throw the chocolate away!

BunnyJumper · 16/03/2021 08:39

Oh I forgot to say. I did the Keto Diet previously which made me drop a lot of weight in a relatively short amount of time, but I got down to 8st 9lbs for my wedding dress...: I looked gaunt though. And a bit I'll.

That's another problem. If I say at about 9st will my wedding dress still fit me? Argh!

whoami24601 · 16/03/2021 08:53

Being short the margin of error for weight is so small! My SIL is 5"9' (ish) and she s a stone heavier than me but looks so slim! It's not fair 😤

WellTidy · 16/03/2021 09:02

One other thing all shorties have in common is that our TDEE is adjusted downwards because of our height. So we need to eat less than a tall person even just to stay the same weight, let alone lose weight, which is a challenge! I really enjoy having this thread where we all have that in common.

My TDEE at the moment is about 1350 calories, and as I am trying to lose weight, I try to come in at about 1000 calories a day, and not to eat the calories that I burn walking (my only exercise). But it’s tough. And I am learning that small losses are what I should hope for. No hope whatsoever that I could lose two pounds a week, unfortunately.

WellTidy · 16/03/2021 09:03

Welcome Bunny!

harknesswitch · 16/03/2021 09:05

Can someone post a link to the video you're all talking about please:

modernfemininity · 16/03/2021 09:26

Welcome to the new thread @BunnyJumper and @whoami24601.

There are specific problems for us Shorties, one being that our weights don’t sound high but we can easily look chubby with our cute short statures!!

For me, on top of being less slim that usual, i ate like royalty during the first lockdown and I put on weight. I then lost 12 kilos in later lockdown, doing these diets in succession:

Calorie counting
5:2 without calorie counting, less meat
5:2 and lower carb, small meat intake
5:2 and lower carb and 16:8, more fish
Then maintaining
.. and then gained 3.4kg with Christmas and a partly relaxed January February and March. I haven’t exactly gone wild! Us Shorties have to eat LESS THAN AVERAGE. Sad

I am quite disciplined when my Head Is In The Zone. I cannot always convince myself to Be In The Zone which has been the problem in maintaining. Also, maintaining involves discipline which is so sad.Angry

I am hormonal, and although not depressed, I have felt a bit low with this last lockdown. I think this made me eat snacks and comforting food, oh and turn to the Wine.

Sooverthemill · 16/03/2021 09:28

Can someone link the old thread? What's the title of it? I would like to see the video! I'm 5'1 and am struggling not to gain weight as am going through a tricky time with very sick DD which makes me just want to comfort eat. Am not so far but would like motivation.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 16/03/2021 09:30

@whoami24601 You are the same height as me and just 1lb heavier than I was November 2019 when I started to lose some weight. (Now 8 stone 12.)

That might seem ages ago but I'm probably the least disciplined with calorie counting on here. I think I usually about 1800 a day but I move around a lot.

You asked about diets, to summarise what I've done over time I've made these changes a few months apart:
Stopped pre-packed food and made everything fresh
Started exercising regularly (mainly running)
Cut out meat apart from celebration days
Cut back on wine. (Makes the biggest difference by far)

Unfortunately I'm still in a bit of a slump after being ill for a couple of weeks. I'm well enough to care again but not well enough to control the snacking and do some exercise!

modernfemininity · 16/03/2021 09:43

Hello @harknesswitch, someone will link the video for you.
Are you also a shortie?

I am 5’1 and luckily quite proportional and so I don’t look as short as I am. I have size 2 1/2 (eu35) feet. My waist is widening with menopause.

@BunnyJumper congratulations on the engagement and having a wedding planned is very exciting! You will lose the weight. Almost every bride loses a bit more just before the big day!! August is doable. You have made a good step by joining this shortie thread.

It is a shock to learn how little we really should eat. @WellTidy explains this well with her TDEE.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 16/03/2021 09:43

@whoami24601 so true about the margin of fatness Grin being so narrow for us. I don't calorie count at all because I get a bit OCD about it which nearly always makes me more anxious and frustrated when I'm not seeing huge losses. What I do is: Monday-Friday-day I'm super strict. Coffee in the morning, soup for lunch (no bread) and then a normal dinner. No snacks. Then on Friday evening we always have pizza - kids love it - so I have that, maybe a g&t or two, saturday I might eat a normal lunch or may stick to soup and then dinner in the evening and probably a few drinks in the evening. Sunday is light lunch, normal dinner.

So cut to my very boring description of my food short - I basically restrict mid-week and relatively normal on the weekend. I've lost 10lbs since September which isn't the most amazing loss but I think it's more sustainable for me because I never feel very deprived. I'm 5'0 and 39.

@BunnyJumper you will fit into your dress! definitely if you get to 9stone. Dressmakers can take dresses out and I'm pretty sure there's always extra material there to let the seams out.

modernfemininity · 16/03/2021 09:50

Also hello @Sooverthemill. @neverenoughchelseaboots has provided the link.

Sorry to hear you have a poorly daughter. Worry and stress is not helpful at all, is it!

I only have a little weight to lose and a determination to not gain. We are similar that way.

purplegirl13 · 16/03/2021 09:56

Wow, this thread has moved on a such a pace I can't keep up!!

@whoami24601 I am 10st8.8 and my ultimate goal is 8st7. I had lost a few lbs and got down to 10st4 but all derailed when my mum when into hospital with covid, she is home now but I can't seem to get back on track. I am calorie counting as that's the only way I've successfully lost weight.

@BunnyJumper welcome

@neverenoughchelseaboots thanks for sorting out a new thread!

@WellTidy glad it's better result for you today

@Morningmaeve Ithink cutting out booze should make a difference. I know I made unwise decisions of food when I'm tipsy, or hungover.

@SwimmingOnEggshells I haven't checked out the video but will do.

Sorry if I've missed anyone - it's a busy thread right now. Go us.

I am still struggling to get back on track, calorie counting went well at the weekend but yesterday I gave into the crisps. It goes to show I cannot have these items in the house. I was so sure that I would have magicked up some willpower but no. So that just made me feel rubbish.

I am starting afresh today.

B - greek yogurt and mango
L - salad with homemade veggie burger
D - roti, chilli paneer, and have some chinese greens that I will attempt to put an indian twist on.

I just feel so overwhelmed but at 10st8 I need to get myself in check.

WithLoveFromMyselfToYourself · 16/03/2021 09:58

Can I join?
I’m overqualified in the shortness at just under 5ft (preens), I’m tiny boned so can’t blame that.
I’m 9st 8lb down from 9st 12.5lb with 2st to go. I have an apron and back fat amongst other treasures. I dress cleverly; don’t put weight on my face and neck and I have sparrow lower limbs so I think I can kid myself and others as to my fatness to a point.
I was very slim for 90% of the time until I hit 40. I’m 50 now and in the last decade I’ve been 80/20 overweight. 5:2 and low carb works well for me, along with only eating between 12-8pm.
I’m a greedy fucker and a bit all or nothing and for most of lockdown it’s was all, including one of those giant bars of chocolate most evenings.
I have a bad back and I’m worried about bone density, health and general foxyness and I don’t want to continue my drift into dumpiness.

I’m being super good at the moment but it’s all new and exciting, I’m hoping this thread will keep me at it when I start to flag.
I’m doing fast days, low carb, 12-8 and cycling and walk/running.
