Hi all, can I please join?

35 years old. 5'1. Weighed 50-51kg before I had my daughter. She's now 2 years old and I still haven't lost my baby weight! Got down to 53.5kg and then gained during lockdown - up to 56kg.

I've been losing roughly 0.5kg per week and am down to 53.9kg. Aim is 53.5kg this weekend. I'm logging calories - aiming for 1000 calories but fell off the wagon at the weekend! I'm also aiming to exercise 3-4 times a week - combination of body coach workouts and exercise bike.

Hoping this group will motivate me to stay on track!Star

AuldFox · 17/03/2021 12:59

I would love to join you but (I never thought I’d have occasion to say this) am I too tall at 5’3? If so, I’ll slink away again....

Sooverthemill · 17/03/2021 13:04

@AuldFox 5'3 and under is petite I am sure!

DayPyjamas · 17/03/2021 14:05

What is everyone doing for exercise? I need suggestions

FedNlanders · 17/03/2021 14:06

5ft 3 is fine :-)

Done a 3mile walk vid on YouTube for lunchtime. It was better than sitting scrolling on my phone I suppose. Stopped me eating too. Now to have a cuppa, then school run so I will be busy till tea. I have a vegan chili for tea. I will have with cauli rice and maybe a biscuit later x

nickEcave · 17/03/2021 14:41

I'd like to join please. At 4ft 10 I maybe one of the shortest on here. 😀. As a teenager I weighed under 8 stone and was probably size 4-6 but then I discovered alcohol! Spent my university days and my 20s drinking most days but my youthful metabolism kept me from going above size 12 although I started looking chunky. Cut right back on booze whilst having 2 kids in my 30s but slowing metabolism plus over indulgence in the first lockdown means that when I turned 46 last summer I weighed 66kg which was what I weighed when I was 5 months pregnant with second child! It also put me on the edge of obese BMI. I have an hourglass figure with big boobs and hips so friends don't believe I'm obese and taller people just dont get how overweight 66kg is on a very small frame so I'm not comfortable joining any other weight loss forums. Really glad to find this one!

I started using MFP and walking at least 5 miles a day in November and am now down to 61.5 kg. Hoping to get to 57 by the end of this year which will put me into healthy BMI category after 10 years in the overweight bit of the charts. For me clocking up a LOT of steps, watching portion size and only drinking (moderatly) at the weekend seems to be working so far. Working from home (and no kids activities) has given me more free time to get the steps in but I expect I'm going to have to ramp up the intensity of the exercise once life returns to normal.

dottyaboutstripes · 17/03/2021 15:32

I struggle with exercise too - I tend to walk on the treadmill which I figure is better than nothing.
So far so good today. But I think that might be because I'd eaten SO much over the past 3 days!

AuldFox · 17/03/2021 15:35

Thanks guys!

I’m 5’3 and now weigh 9st after losing a stone over the last 5 months or so. I’d like to be 8st 7 or thereabouts so give myself some wiggle room and a BMI of 21. I think I won’t be able to maintain any lower. I don’t plan to do anything too drastic and if I just maintain at 9st, I’ll still be ok with it. I would look good as a size 8 though, I have one of those bodies that look better the smaller I get, I have never looked scrawny or too skinny in my life (am large chested and wide hipped!)

My plan is to eat fairly low carb, high fibre with occasional treats, and this will be a new way of life for me. I’m getting older now, so health is my most important focus.

Happy to be on board the good ship Little with you all Smile

TheDogsMother · 17/03/2021 15:55

I haven't reported in for a while. I have been yo-yoing the same half stone for years and this time I swear it will be the last. I got to target in time for my wedding last October then basically carried on celebrating until I was half a stone heavier again Grin. I have decided to properly focus and I use Weightwatchers blue plan, do Jillian Michaels workouts and lots of walking. I don't have too much more to lose but as you all know the weight shifts slowly for us shorties (esp post menopausal). I'd like to build in a couple of lbs buffer too in time for the reopening of restaurants and pubs.

FedNlanders · 17/03/2021 16:00

Well done auld. I can't wait to be at the 9st mark.

AuldFox · 17/03/2021 16:25

@FedNlanders

Well done auld. I can't wait to be at the 9st mark.
You’ll get there, if you’re anything like me, enjoy the journey because it will be sloooooooow Grin

Seriously though, it requires massive discipline to lose any weight when you’re small, so I’m very impressed with all of you Star

whoami24601 · 17/03/2021 16:43

@MNHQ I just accidentally reported @auldfox last post Blush please ignore!

whoami24601 · 17/03/2021 16:45

I'm on a fast day today and struggling. Supposed to be decorating but just can't be bothered! Looking forward to 8pm when I can have my soup! Usually I do it on a Thursday but DH is off work tomorrow and it'll be the first time we've been alone since August so want to make the most of it and get some nice lunch in Grin

FedNlanders · 18/03/2021 07:32

Weighing in at 9st 6 this morn. Is still TOTM so feeling pleased with that. I've started having carbs for lunch and no longer need chocolate all after noon.

FedNlanders · 18/03/2021 07:33

9st 10.6 ......not 9st 6, I wish!

whoami24601 · 18/03/2021 07:43

Weighing in at 10st 7. Another pound off!

Afishcalledwonderful · 18/03/2021 08:09

Morning everyone! I weighed 10 stone 1 this morning so that's two off for me in the first week. 9 stone seems sooooo far away 😩

purplegirl13 · 18/03/2021 08:54

@AuldFox good job on the loss so far! My aim is also 8st7 and I'm currently 10st8 so a long way to go

@TheDogsMother welcome back

@FedNlanders @whoami24601 @Afishcalledwonderful good results there

I kept on track yesterday so that's 2 consecutive days and with weigh in day tomorrow, it'll keep me in check today.

B - greek yoghurt and berries
L - puy lentil and feta salad
D - possibly an egg fried rice type dish with veg and tofu using the frozen cauliflower rice (that's sat untouched in the freezer for a few months)
Snack options: boiled egg, apple

Have a good day everyone

Mosaic123 · 18/03/2021 09:35

Are there any charts for how many calories you should eat to lose weight depending on how tall you are?

FedNlanders · 18/03/2021 09:46

Well done everyone. @Mosaic123 I used MFP and have 1200 a day. I am fairly active at times but also have days where I don’t do much either so its all relative. If I do a hike I will eat better and more nutrition but not always more. Im still learning not only calories but how to be healthy!

Mosaic123 · 18/03/2021 10:35

Thank you. I'll have a look at MFP

Sooverthemill · 18/03/2021 10:39

@Mosaic123 MFP is really useful to track what you eat and check calories. I don't obsessively track calories as I pretty much eat the same every day fir breakfast and lunch ( granola and yoghurt and soup with a slice of toast) but I do use it to track weight and work out calories in what I make for dinner. It's useful but the number of calories you need depends on lots of things. Have you ever checked your basal metabolic rate? It's fascinating! Look here

FedNlanders · 18/03/2021 10:57

I don't use mfp for all means now as I am quite seasoned in knowing now but I do check dinners and snacks and when I go out etc. I use it for weight loss graphs too.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/03/2021 12:14

hello @nickEcave and @AuldFox our smallest and tallest members so far I think :) and of course hello to anyone else I may have missed.

66kg to 61kg is an amazing loss so far @nickEcave, well done!

I'm faltering here, hitting 8'10 a couple of weeks ago was almost counterproductive. I've haven't been great at sticking to my plan and wine and cheese and crackers snuck in. Between mother's day and st patrick's day yesterday (in Ireland) I've found it hard to be disciplined. I think I'll be registering a gain tomorrow.

But on the up-side, when I was out with DS on his bike yesterday I ended up having to run the whole time as he was going so fast. He only learned a few weeks ago so I was expecting him to be slow, not the case! Amazingly I wasn't too out of breath so I might try to go for the odd run. The only trouble is running can hurt my back, maybe if I do one a week I might be ok. Getting old is a nuisance - cycling hurts my knee, running hurts my back. I'm a crock!

AuldFox · 18/03/2021 13:17

I’ve never been the tallest of any group ever

Well done to your DS @SwimmingOnEggshells you’ll soon be running flat out! Mind the back though, I can’t run at all due to a dodgy knee.

I’d just like to emphasise again that I went from 10 to 9 stone over 5 months, it was really slow indeed. This is truly a marathon, not a sprint so don’t lose heart @purplegirl13
