I have inexplicably put on 1.75lb over the last three days, so am up to 9st 11lb. I haven't exercised for a few days, but I've come in under my TDEE each day, so this is disappointing. I'm back where I was weight-wise over two weeks ago.

I am remembering the video though! And am not as cross as I would have been without understanding where I am in the weight loss process. It is undeniably slow for me, but I am going to hang in there and see where I am in another two weeks and try and see this as a long term process. Its disappointing though, as I feel I haven't done anything wrong.

Good luck to everyone else this week, and well done to those who are on track.

purplegirl13 · 22/03/2021 11:36

Morning All!

@Sooverthemill how did you do over the weekend?

@FedNlanders 3lb loss in a week is great!

@Knittingnanny I think you're right, the only way this works is if we eat less (or exercise LOTS!)

@2021youpromisedyoudbebetter welcome. I am 5'1 and 10st7 hoping to get down to at least 8st7. Can you substitute your sugar cravings with fruit? I find the more sugar I have the more I crave so I feel your pain.

@WellTidy as long as the trend continues downwards I wouldn't worry just yet. I am mostly daily weigher but only record the weigh every Friday so I take all the other readings with a pinch of salt.

@neverenoughchelseaboots you still off the wine? I am one week with no alcohol and have found it surprisingly easy. Now if you were to ask me to give up cheese, that would be a different matter altogether. I think that if I made no other changes but stopped the cheese, I would lose at least 1lb a week!

@modernfemininity @SwimmingOnEggshellshow are you getting on?

@Beroltheperil I have been thinking about you. Do let us know if you are ok

Today:
B - kefir drink
L - homemade crustless cheese and onion quiche, with sauteed garlicky kale
D - feta and avocado salad
snack options: apple, cucumber and hummus

Good luck everyone!

FedNlanders · 22/03/2021 11:43

Welcome new members. I will not be weighing till midweek now x

Knittingnanny · 22/03/2021 11:44

Yes, just continue living our best lives but with smaller amounts of food!
I’m really stuck at 9.2lb
I’ve just remembered something significant though..... back in my childbearing days before you were all born, my scales said upper 8 stone, varied between 8.7 and 13 over the late 70’s, 80’ and 90’s. BUT I bought new scales around 2010 and they immediately showed about 5 lb more. So maybe I never was that light after all! I’m clutching at straws aren’t I?!
Doing 16/8 quite well and hanging on til 12 before having my yogurt and fruit. Defrosted a homemade chicken casserole for tonight with lots of green veg.
I bought some salted caramel tiffin bites from B and M at the weekend and to my surprise I found them far too sweet.
Going to do a weigh in tomorrow and a tape measure session. A summer dress size 12 that is my measuring stick was still too snug a few weeks ago is also coming out for a try on.
Can you tell I’m retired and have plenty of time for this?!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 22/03/2021 12:00

Back up to 8 stone 12lbs this morning, things are going pear-shaped, just like my bum! I haven't seen 8 stone 10 in ages, I'm starting to think it was a figment of my imagination.

But...I was really active this weekend and every muscle in my body is aching so it's possible I'm retaining water. I'm doing my best to remind myself of the weight fluctuation video and just keeping in the diet mindset. Giving up certainly will not make me lose any more weight.

I get might the tape measure out as well @Knittingnanny

purplegirl13 · 22/03/2021 12:02

@Knittingnanny I was just thinking about this last night, whether I should actually get the tape measure out and record inches. Not for me to regularly track but to use later down the line after a stone lost. I think it would be a good comparison! I admit to not waiting to get the tape measure out but think it needs to be done.

Let us know how you get on with the dress!

neverenoughchelseaboots · 22/03/2021 12:15

@purplegirl13 I am. Day 5 today abs wasn't tempted at all over the weekend. It's because I have this fixed 30 day challenge. When it's not a decision to make, I'm fine. But I always seem to choose yes the rest of time, despite knowing I always feel better without.

I'm he same with cheese too but find wine often leads to cheese so I get a natural reduction when I stop drinking.

Re the measuring, I have a coat that comes mid-hip and unzips from both sides. I used to undo the bottom bit and it would sit an inch apart. Getting it to close all the way down was my target and I now have some room inside too. I find it a really useful barometer without torturing myself with tape measures.

2021youpromisedyoudbebetter · 22/03/2021 12:15

@purplegirl13 thank you for the lovely warm welcome 😊 I have actually just done a food shop with fruit in mind, I made baked oats for breakfast which feels quite luxurious and no added sugar which has made me feel like I've had a sugar fix. You are right in that once you have a bit of sugar you want more, I've had to ban any treats I like in the house as I have no self control 🤦🏽‍♀️

How are you finding your weight loss journey? Anything you recommend

FedNlanders · 22/03/2021 13:16

My tape measure arrived but I lost my old notes from the very start. I have some from when I lost a bit so going to just go by that. I'm nervous.

dottyaboutstripes · 22/03/2021 15:13

Hi everyone! I've never used a tape measure but I'll confess to weighing myself every day and I have a couple of skirts which I try on every now and again to keep track of how well/badly it's all going!
I made a silly mistake and bought cakes in Costco which I was going to freeze, but the freezer is full. This is a big part of what's gone wrong over the past year or so - I just keep on buying absolute rubbish. Well, that and dh doing lots of cooking. He just doesn't seem to care about his weight and loves cooking (I don't) so it's all too tempting to eat 1.badly and 2.too much!

Sooverthemill · 22/03/2021 15:17

@purplegirl13 thank you! Not too bad over weekend and I will weigh myself tomorrow. Hoping at least that I haven't gained! DD is really unwell and I cried on the phone to the GP this morning so I'm trying really hard not to comfort eat. We had a Persian meal last night and I had one tiny bite of baklava which made me feel sick it was so sweet ( but god how I used to live baklava) so for my treat I had a handful of pistachios instead. @Knittingnanny it's definitely better to eat what you like but smaller portions. I'm gluten and lactose intolerant so I do have to think about that but I hate the idea of 'banned foods'

RainbowCookie · 22/03/2021 15:29

Hello everyone, found you on the new thread. Welcome all newbies.
So I’m still plugging away but progress has been very slow, only 1kg in the last month.

The reality is I need to reduce calories further and I’m not sure I want to eat any less than I do now as it just seems so miserable. I’m probably around 1300 a day on average. I also train 6 days a week as well and usually burn off 300 calories most days with exercise.

Anyway my start weight 1st Jan was 54,5kg and I’m now at 49,9kg so literally just scraping under the 50kg. I’d like to get down to 48kg as I have a roll of fat round my waist which needs to go.

My DS needs to get fitter for football so he’s going to run with me 2 days a week so on those days I will double train which will help I think.
We are heading into winter so those early morning workouts are going to be much harder. But carrying less weight I’m sure is helping my running speed and my knees are holding up ok so far.

Keep going everyone.

Knittingnanny · 22/03/2021 16:52

I measured my waist at the start of planning to lose a stone ( 10.4 to 9.4)and I was ashamed. At size 14 and only 5’2” my waist was 33”. It’s always been bigger than the rest of me proportionally and when my 1970’s friends were in real size 10’s, 22” waist, I was a 14 because of my “ massive “ 26” waist.
I wish my waist was as slim as it was when I thought it was large!
My waist, after 1 stone 2lb loss is 30” so I’m quite pleased. I took measurements beginning of September and I was 39/33/38
Now 37/30/37 so that is why the size 12 dress is nearly ok! It’s a Joules summer dress and compared with my other Joules dresses seems quite a lot narrower.
Realistically I’m aiming for a waist of 29”. In the 70’s/80’s there was a diet tip involving a piece of string! No Lycra involved just big standard non stretchy string. Tie it round your waist and it will act as a reminder to stop eating when it feels uncomfortable!
After losing about 12lbs I definitely noticed a difference in my clothes. My Asda pyjama bottoms are labelled 12-14 and are now baggy so it’s all good but slow progress,

Knittingnanny · 22/03/2021 16:52

Bog not big

FedNlanders · 22/03/2021 17:58

I have lost from my waist but my tummy is the biggest part of me. Thats stress!

purplegirl13 · 22/03/2021 17:59

@neverenoughchelseaboots good to hear you weren't tempted over the week. I know exactly what you mean about choice vs decision.

@2021youpromisedyoudbebetter Good to hear your breakfast worked out well for you. I think you'll find a few of us on here have no self-control. It's just me at home so it's much easier to have control on what's in my home!

We are all using different methods when it comes to weigh loss. I am calorie counting as I struggle with portion control and like my carbs! Calorie counting works for me but I know others aren't keen for various reasons. It' about finding what works for you and what you're able to stick with for a bit. It can be small changes for example no snacking, reduce processed foods, more fruit and veg - whatever you want! The important thing is to start and accept there will be slip ups alone the way.

@Sooverthemill I am sorry to hear about your DD. I understand the need to comfort eat. Be kind to yourself.

@RainbowCookie I agree that you shouldn't cut down calories any further, you'll feel miserable. You've done well but we all know the smaller we become the slower the weight loss will be. Be patient.

@Knittingnanny good job on the inches. I dread to measure tomorrow but will do so I have a number at the start and at the end. My weight tends to go straight to my tummy and boobs (plus a little everywhere else)

purplegirl13 · 22/03/2021 18:00

@FedNlanders I feel your pain

whoami24601 · 22/03/2021 20:03

Can I just pop in to say I've had a win today? 2yo was up half the night with a cough, so I've had next to no sleep. This also meant that the older two haven't been allowed to go to school which has stopped me from having a pj day. But I still stuck to my fast! It was super hard as normally I'd reach for the sugar but I managed to resist. I'm feeling really proud of myself right now (And am already tucked up in bed Grin)

skylover · 22/03/2021 21:24

Hello, can I join please? I'm nervously peeping round the corner...
5 foot 2, 9 stone 6 and 43 years old. I'd really like to get back down to 9 stone. I joined a healthy weight loss group 9 weeks ago and have lost..... 1 pound 🙈😂 So frustrating!! Having read through the thread I feel like I may have found my tribe of shorties! It is so good to see that it is ok to want to be as light as 8 1/2 or 9 stone, that is is bloody hard to lose weight when little and we do seem to have to eat less than our taller sisters.

I loved the Jordan Syatt video and continued to binge watch loads more of his. With his calculations I should be on 1512 cals per day to lose weight (slow & steady). What do you all think? On other calculators it says 1200 ish which I don't think is sustainable for me and I worry about piling weight back on when I stop.

I exercise 5 days a week and don't have a sedentary job. I love cooking and healthy eating but I also love weekend pasta dinners and boozy eves with the hubby.

I'll weigh in on Friday. I'm going to try calorie counting (never do this), lower carb veggie and I do 16:8 naturally most days anyway. I've loved reading all your stories. It's been inspiring and also a relief to see I'm not alone.

WellTidy · 23/03/2021 07:42

Delighted to report that yesterday’s little jump up to 9st 11lb was just a blip, and I am 9st 9.25lb again today, which is fair and just, I think!

I am doubly pleased that I stayed on track yesterday.

Hoping for a four mile walk at lunchtime today, or after work if it’s dry then. I am not giving up hope of being 9st 7lb by Easter, which was my next mini-goal. It’s looking very unlikely, but I have ten days to reach it, and I am committed!

BunnyJumper · 23/03/2021 08:00

Morning all,

It's nice to read how everyone is getting on. It should help to boost me; but it's not.

I just can't get into the weight loss mindset. Every morning I promise myself the day will be better, I'll eat less and move more but I still end up eating too much.
I'm so so big now. I look terrible. I'm panicking for the wedding and for summer when I'll find it harder to hide in jumpers and a coat like I can now.

I'm meant to be getting married in 5 months and I'm a fucking mess! I just don't know what I'm going to do. Ah. Crying writing this

I've fucked up so bad.

Ilovelove · 23/03/2021 08:12

Hello everyone,

Please may I join. I am a yo-yo and I don’t really know how to stop but I am better with company.

I am 5 foot, 9 stone 5 and I want to be 8 stone 3. I have literally slid up and down from 9 stone 10 to 8 stone 10 for the past year. I feel like I am going in circles and don’t really know what I do so wrong to keep putting the weight back on.

Sorry to hear BunnyJumper about you daily re-starts. I understand that...I am the same.
Have you thought about doing something really different or controlled like the Cambridge diet? Not an online version but the real one with a consultant to help you? After spending £65 for a week of pouches there is an added incentive to stick to it - although I did it, lost weight no here I am again - so it might work for your specific situation rather than long term habit change x

Sooverthemill · 23/03/2021 09:00

I forgot to weigh myself! Damn. I do it in a Tuesday. Is it Tuesday? Had very little sleep! I'm not well for some reason, very tired, headache and sore tummy with a bit of an upset. I think it's the lentil soup I've had 2 days running. I must eliminate them from my diet I think.

Welcome all the newbies! It's nice to see you all.

purplegirl13 · 23/03/2021 09:40

Just a quick message now, and I'll catch up on posts later.

Today:
B - greek yoghurt, frozen berries
L - homemade crustless cheese and onion quiche, served with kale
D - homemade chickpea and lentil soup
Snack options - grapes, cucumber/hummus, apple/peanut butter

SwimmingOnEggshells · 23/03/2021 11:38

hello @skylover and @Ilovelove, yes it's great to have people who understand having goals under 9 stone does not in any way make you too skinny. Welcome!

Jordan Syatt puts me at 1320 a day, which is a goal weight of 110lbs or 8 stone 2 lbs. I like the simplicity of how he calculates calorie intake. Mind you, I don't even calorie count so it's kind of pointless for me really. Not that this strategy is working at the moment because I seem to have stalled! Getting under 9 stone has made me very complacent. I think I might try your diary method @neverenoughchelseaboots.

And I measured my upper arm - it's two notches under 10 inches. I find my arm is the best place to measure because it doesn't bloat and stays fairly stable. And I weighed myself again this morning and I'm back to 8 11.5lbs.

Food plan for today is:
Skinny cappucino
Tomato soup
Fish pie with peas
Snack - so far I've had: half a kinder bueno bar (why are they soooooo nice?), 1 Tuc cracker. I'm going to do my best not to have anymore snacks.

I might keep posting my food like you @purplegirl13, to keep me more accountable
