HELLO & WELCOME! March already and the start of Spring! We’ll all feel better with the onset of warmer weather ☀️.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.
They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

I am at the point I seem to get to each week when stressed/emotional and on the verge of eating my feelings...

Wedding cancelled again 😩
I despair!!

Very likely to eat some chocolate tonight?????

SunshineCake · 23/03/2021 19:27

Oh @CescaNicole. I am so sorry.

I know you want chocolate, and if you really do then have it, but what about saving it until lunch tomorrow and having it as part of your calorie allowance? Maybe just have it as your lunch?

If not, just have it now but make sure you enjoy it!

132orbust · 23/03/2021 19:36

Oh sorry to hear that @CescaNicole that must be so frustrating for you again.
Maybe go for a leg stretch and then treat yourself when you get back if you still fancy it.

CescaNicole · 23/03/2021 20:18

I had 2 milkyways, a cup of tea and a little cry!!

That's not toooooooooo bad?!
Draw a line, positive pants back on.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 23/03/2021 20:31

Oh @CescaNicole that's awful, you're having no luck with this wedding at all. Bloody Covid!!

My top tip is to have a stash of options/highlights hot chocolate in the house. It really does satisfy the chocolate need if you're in a funk or having a craving.

Forced myself to do an exercise video today, it was a bit too much like hard work though with a cold so didn't hit any kind of personal best and was limp as a dishrag by the time I finished.

fallfallfall · 23/03/2021 20:34

:( oh @CescaNicole
I'm not in the UK what is the reason for the cancellation? i assume something covid related?

i have chocolate to share

Puffalicious · 23/03/2021 20:42

Oh, Cesca you poor thing. Ot must be devastating every time Flowers.

You were positively saintly with your milky ways! As long as you enjoy the choc, go on.

HalfShrunk I've had a hot choc treat everyday since you suggested it. It feels like a real treat for 39 calories (my favourite is the Galaxy low cal jar) and I look forward to it all day. A definite win ill be keeping in my routine every day.

Anyone else with a sweet tooth, can I recommend Aldi sugar free sweets. Small boxes at the till - cola/ lemon/ blackcurrant/ custard and rhubarb. 2 sweets is 23 calories and enough to satisfy my craving.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 23/03/2021 20:51

@Puffalicious Mine is the options choc orange, I love it, really hits the spot when I'm in need. DH and DD did me a hot chocolate advent calendar for Xmas so I ended up with a whole load of sachets or different flavours to try out 😁

SunshineCake · 23/03/2021 21:16

I joined in and had a few chocolate peanuts. In bed now as feel really poorly. This is the third night I've gone to bed before nine. BIL felt tired for a week after his jab but I am 12 days on from mine. Feel tired, sick, out of it. Plus emotional at times though today has been a bit of a day for many. DS1 Skyped us and I miss him so much. I got so used to him being here and cheeky so and so didn't give me much warning he was going. Dh was the one who told me.

Hope everyone sleeps well and I feel better tomorrow as it is run and weigh day.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 24/03/2021 07:02

Weigh day:

Start of this weight loss journey was 1st Aug 2020 - 233lb, BMI 35.4

24/02/2021 - 178lb, BMI 27.0
03/03/2021 - 177lb, BMI 26.9
10/03/2021 - 177lb, BMI 26.9
17/03/2021 - 176lb, BMI 26.7
24/03/2021 - 175lb, BMI 26.6

Loss this week - 1 lb
Loss this month - 3 lb
Total loss since starting - 58 lb

132orbust · 24/03/2021 08:10

Amazing effort again @HalfShrunkMoreToGo
@SunshineCake this jab seems to affect people differently and some take a bit longer to get over it. I was hit by half hours of exhaustion, where I felt I could lie down on the floor and sleep, for 4 days afterwards.
0.5lb off for me so still another 0.5lb to go, to get back to 138lb.
Must get back to actually making progress again as I only have about 10 days of Lent and therefore no alcohol to make my next dent.

CescaNicole · 24/03/2021 08:37

Thanks @halfshrunkmoretogo, that's a brilliant idea, I have added some options into my weekly food shop 😋 the advent calendar!! Such a nice idea!!
Well done for another weekly loss 🎉

@fallfallfall it was to do with the reopening roadmap guidelines not being very clear!! They said weddings could go ahead with 15 guests from 12th April, so we booked end of April. But because wedding venues serve food etc. They shouldn't really operate until 17th May when restaurants reopen! So they only meant weddings in registry offices and churches - which ours wasn't.

Well Done @132orbust for a loss!

overthecorona · 24/03/2021 10:23

@CescaNicole can you plan something nice with your fiance to mark the day at least? Perhaps you'll actually be able to go for a meal or someting at that stage.

Well done @HalfShrunkMoreToGo. I have ditched the TOTM weight and am finally seeing a difference on the scale. 4 pounds down this month, woop! That takes me to 13' 13 on the scale. Still far too heavy but it's nice to be under 14 stone, which was ridiculous for me.

18:6 and guess what, not eating crap, is working for me.

Crazzzycat · 24/03/2021 10:39

I bought a new “fancy” tape measure so that I no longer have to rely on my DH’s somewhat slapdash measuring techniques.

I just measured myself and “lost” more than 3 inches. Obviously it’s not a real loss, just a more accurate measurement, but it’s a huge psychological boost.

At the start of this month, getting to a healthy weight measurement felt like it would take most of the year. Now that there’s 3 inches less to lose, I might get there sometime this summer. I’m quite excited by that 😁

SunshineCake · 24/03/2021 11:53

Well done @HalfShrunkMoreToGo. You really are an inspiration.

Well done @Crazzzycat. It is a real loss as you have a proper measurement now.

I didn't feel great when I woke up but by the time I put my running bear in and sorted out the kids and dogs plans I felt okay to run. Did 6.6km then walked the dog for 1.5hr. Bit demoralising when I only burned six calories more in my run than my walk Grin but then I only ran for 45 minutes 29 seconds against my walk of 1 hour 45 minutes 51 seconds.

Third week of once a week weighing and a third consecutive loss. Yay. Only 0.8lb but this month I am 3.8lbs down so happy with that. Actually reading it all back and seeing that I am doing as well as others makes me want to cry.

Just made a giant macaroni cheese as dd requested it and have put off going compost shopping so will sit for a bit, have chicken and veg left from last night for lunch then read my book while dh goes for ds2. I have a letter to write so might do that.

I have told dh if he wants chocolate or crisps he has to have them at lunch as I copied him two nights and ate at 7-8pm which is. Not. Allowed. Might have been a whole pound off otherwise!

Cheese and tomato risotto for dinner tonight.

Have a good day everyone and well done Star.

fallfallfall · 24/03/2021 16:44

it sure is nice to hear of so many successes both on the scale and off with the tape measures!!
@CescaNicole, have you rescheduled yet?
so far 5.9 lbs down for the month so down .9 today which i'm happy with and not that i ever "stopped" but i'll keep going with this "plan".
not my turn yet for the vaccine, but i'm really looking forward to it side effects or not. i really miss seeing my kids oh and maybe my mom too...

CescaNicole · 24/03/2021 17:03

That's a nice idea @overthecorona! Can't remember the last time we went out for a meal, it must have been 2019!!

@fallfallfall no -
I have admitted mental defeat and going to see how the rest of the year pans out. We will try get as much money back as possible and have a little mental break from it all. It sounds silly but it's kind of tainted the whole thing now so I want to get some space from it and then make a new plan when things are more settled. 🤗

I am feeling more positive today ✨

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 24/03/2021 18:22

@overthecorona I know what you mean about moving into a new stone bracket, something about the first number dropping feels like such a huge achievement even if it's really only half a lb less than you weighed yesterday 😂

I only have to drop 1 more lb and I'll have lost 25% of my starting weight. I'll be a quarter less of a person than I was last August, that feels a bit funny to think about.

@SunshineCake you're doing so well, when I think back a few months to how unhappy you were with your progress it's just such a joy to hear how good you're feeling about the changes now. Well done!

@CescaNicole, Covid has done a real number on everyone and it must be so disheartening to have something as pure and simple as a wedding disrupted repeatedly. Just try to remember that the wedding is just a party, it's a public way of marking a marriage, but it's the relationship, the marriage which is the important part. You love your DH and he loves you, in your hearts and minds you're already a committed pair who will be together forever. The public declaration can wait till Covid decides to go into hiding or at least back off a bit.

SunshineCake · 24/03/2021 18:26

thank you @HalfShrunkMoreToGo. I am so touched by what you said. It was lovely, thank you.

Half is right @CescaNicole but I come from a different angle. If you just want to be married why not do the legal bit then have a party later?

CescaNicole · 24/03/2021 22:39

So true @halfshrunkmoretogo & @SunshineCake

We are not that worried about the party side of it, we do just want to do the legal bits!! But we had planned like a nice small intimate ceremony at a venue, and it was all very last minute to take advantage of the covid prices etc.
I think we will now jus do something even smaller and v low key - registry office with the kids and our parents!
Not sure when!

We had a clear out today and I found an old journal of mine from 2014. I was moaning about being 8 st 7 lb back then 😅🤣 what a joker.

GoLightlyontheEarth · 25/03/2021 08:03

Could someone explain how the old red and green system works please?

GoLightlyontheEarth · 25/03/2021 08:05

Sorry, wrong thread

132orbust · 25/03/2021 08:15

Quick check in and no change Angry
I'm off for a very long walk at 9.30 and hopeful for a change tomorrow.
Onward and inwards.

joysmoy66 · 25/03/2021 10:23

Still 10 st 2.4 🙄

Puffalicious · 25/03/2021 11:31

Good news. After that 1lb gain last week and the plateau Confused I'm 3lbs off on my weekly weigh in. So 2lbs off this month. Not massive but almost a bag of sugar I'm not carting around.
