HELLO & WELCOME! March already and the start of Spring! We’ll all feel better with the onset of warmer weather ☀️.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.
They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Try not to let it get you down @Puffalicious. You enjoyed Mother's Day and that pound will come off.

Bask in the glory of training me so well as I wanted to weigh this morning, thought of you and resisted!

AuldFox · 18/03/2021 14:29

A pound is nothing @Puffalicious, it could just be normal variation. Maybe you’re building muscle from all your hiking!

Puffalicious · 18/03/2021 14:42

Ah thanks, guys. I feel much better now. Will just keep doing what I'm doing. Don't know about the muscle Auldfox

💪 but that would be nice!

I love that you resisted weighing and thought of me Sunshine that's so funny.

Have onion Ryvita lined up for later- so looking forward to it.

SunshineCake · 18/03/2021 20:08

Confession time. Just ate some monster munch. In my defence I'm stressed. Dh is at the hospital with ds2.

joysmoy66 · 19/03/2021 07:05

10st 2.4 this morning so back to what I was before totm. I'm ok with that tbh.

CescaNicole · 19/03/2021 10:40

Hi All
Just checking in!!

I still haven't weighed yet as too scared haha! Going to next weigh in on Monday. Have been doing good all week with eating until yesterday when I succumbed to a hot cross bun after being out in the rain and cold! At least the sun is shining today!!
I have also been doing yoga daily which is really nice, gets me moving on the days I don't do a workout but nothing too strenuous!!

Hope you're OK @SunshineCake and DS is OK ☹️

Have a good weekend everyone ☀

poshme · 20/03/2021 09:07

@Puffalicious have you tried miso soup? I love the chilli one. Its very savoury and only about 30 calories.

Hoping to lose my totm 2lb again quickly.

Doing well with steps, but not so well with Wine

Crazzzycat · 20/03/2021 09:35

I’ve been finding the last few days a little hard. Not sure why, but I’ve been feeling ravenous!

On a positive note, apart from one day, I’ve stuck to my calories. I’ve also been trying to increase my exercise levels a bit. I already go for a walk every day, but am slowly adding more exercise into that.

Puffalicious · 20/03/2021 10:54

poshme I haven't. I shall search it out. Quite like a slim a soup at 55cals but I'm sure the miso will be healthier. Thanks.

SunshineCake · 20/03/2021 11:45

Hi everyone

DS2 is home but still in pain. Thank goodness now the weekend for him to rest.

DS1 about to leave to go back to uni. I feel like it is day one year one of him going again as he has been home for four months. Feel very down so once he's gone I'm going to the shop as need water and some vegetables, etc.

Even with what you see as the lows, I am seeing positives in all your posts. Keep going !

fallfallfall · 20/03/2021 15:51

I’m off track...again
Not really. Lots of leftovers that need sorting and organizing. Week1 had included a recipe that called for cream cheese...two tablespoons of it used once...lots of cottage cheese and berries to finish up.
One meal was a version of channa masalla, so I just ordered it, the restaurant version of course had more salt and flavor.
I’ll get on the scale Sunday or Monday.
No problem with the exercise routine.

Puffalicious · 20/03/2021 17:06

Having a hungry day. Was doing so well until DS3 started munching the honey cashews! I didn't go mad but they were talking to meBlush. I think I sometimes feel that I stuck to my cals religiously last week and put on, so what's the point? Thankfully these thoughts are fleeting. I'll be extra good next, few days.

SunshineCake · 20/03/2021 17:56

The point is you have a plan @Puffalicious and you need to keep going. You can eat the right calories, do the exercise, drink the water and nothing. I remember being on Diet chef and had had enough so for a week I ate what and when I wanted and had a long walk with dh. Lost 5lbs having lost nothing in DC week. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason but we keep going as it all balances out in the end.

Puffalicious · 20/03/2021 19:11

You're so right, Sunshine

RedRum27 · 20/03/2021 20:07

Hello everyone just checking in. Thank you for your support last week with my moment of frustration. Another 1lb off this week which I am still ok/pleased with, a loss is a loss. I’m focused on the back to work exercise routine after wfh ended (I fell off the wagon with exercise when we returned to work last year) so I’m pleased to say that so far I have kept up with my exercise and good eating in moderation since returning to work and being non-stop.

Non scale victories are very helpful when ‘life’ takes over. Weigh in day Monday so let’s see!

Happy Saturday everyone 😊

Avocadorable · 21/03/2021 10:52

Just checking in still stuck here it’s a mf of a plateau to get off!! Same weight from the end of feb, haven’t changed food at all and started walking about 6km a day, but can see a difference in clothes so I’m going to ban the scales until the last day of March it’s disheartening not seeing a change every week on it !

Puffalicious · 21/03/2021 11:16

Oh God Avocadorable it's a bloody nightmare. I have a feeling I'm going to be the same. We'll need to keep each other going as I have a tenancy to just say " Feck it".

SunshineCake · 21/03/2021 12:48

No fecking it allowed. I had time where nothing worked then suddenly I dropped 2-3 lbs. you keep going or I'll be round to slap you. Come on. You've done so well. You can keep going.

I'm trying too. I'm upset ds has gone to uni. Dd isn't well. Ds2 isn't well. If I can keep trying then so can you Smile.

AuldFox · 21/03/2021 16:40

Step away from the “feck it” time bomb @Puffalicious!

Puffalicious · 21/03/2021 16:41

You're so funny Sunshine. GrinI need a slap now and again, for sure. If you nipped round we could have a great natter!

Bloody horrid that DD and DS are ill. Sending them, and you, unmumsnetty hugs. My DS1 is almost 17 and ill be going through your pain next summer- not looking forward to it. Stay strong.

SunshineCake · 21/03/2021 16:49

Glad you took it in the manner intended @Puffalicious!

DS1 just Skyped is. I had just started watching the anniversary programme on Dunblane so was already emotional and seeing him just made me happy. He said he was okay but I thought he was a bit quiet. He did say nothing much had happened to tell us.

This September child number two will be going to university too..

fallfallfall · 21/03/2021 21:43

I’m ignoring the plateaus over here. I’m ready for this new week! Planning on weighing in tomorrow.

Puffalicious · 21/03/2021 21:49

Glad he's settled, Sunshine and you.

Good for you fallfallfall

Avocadorable · 22/03/2021 07:05

No giving in @Puffalicious summer is knocking around the corner and eventually the numbers on the scale will start playing ball,

CescaNicole · 22/03/2021 08:18

@Sunshinecake has spoken 😁

I'm also on a plateau over here too - still 10 St 2 LB this morning.
Switching to a Monday Weigh In as helping a family member with weight loss so we are weighing in each week together too!

SW: 12 st 1 lb (Oct 2020)
CW: 10 st 2 lb
GW: 9 st 7 lb

No giving in over here either 💪🏻
