HELLO & WELCOME! March already and the start of Spring! We’ll all feel better with the onset of warmer weather ☀️.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.
They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Well I'm
Thoroughly pissed off.
Was down 3lb, and I appear to have gained 2lb overnight.

Squashbanana125 · 22/03/2021 12:55

I was 10’3 last weight in. Still a while to go. Want to get to 9’9/10 - 7lbs to go,

But since I weighed in last week I haven’t been great. I have no idea why. Not tom but I am starving. And I mean literally have a lovely healthy meal, steak, sweet pot fries and veg and an hour later I’m wanting more. And I can’t seem to stop. I need to try to try to the bottom of why. Think I’m probably pre menopausal which could be why.
Anyway determined today is good day.

Keep going everyone, seems like a lot of us are struggling at the moment. And well done on the losses too.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 22/03/2021 13:23

Well it's TOTM and I have a stinking cold so I am absolutely bloody starving, trying to have low cal high protein snacks at regular intervals rather than just eating non-stop but it's a challenge that's for sure.

Before the cold hit I did well with exercise last week so going to try to get through a video tomorrow, today isn't happening as feel drained after a weekend entertaining DD.

SunshineCake · 22/03/2021 13:46

Don't fret @poshme you can't have put 2lbs on over night unless you sleepwalked to the kitchen?? Keep going.

Some times we just need more food @Squashbanana125. Either give in and accept any potential gain or try and drink some water and wait twenty minutes to see if you are genuinely hungry. We all have days when we need more food and if we make good choices then it doesn't matter.

Hang in there @HalfShrunkMoreToGo. TOTM won't last forever and you have done so well.

I earned another gold star as resisted weighing after my run today but will weigh on Wednesday after I have run again. I'm worried as have been weighing once a week and had a loss both times. Hoping not third time unlucky.

I also think I have been hormonal which is weird as haven't had a period since September. What has freaked me out is I feel like I have a pulse pulsing when I lay on my tummy but it isn't at the same time as my breathing. Can anyone explain??? If I get to June without a baby then I am definitely menopausal !

Crazzzycat · 22/03/2021 14:42

I decided not to weigh myself when I started two weeks ago, but couldn’t resist taking another waist measurement yesterday. It’s gone down! Not by much, but as my focus has been more on developing better habits than calorie counting I’m very pleased to see a move in the right direction.

Commiserations to those who are not seeing the scales budge. One of the reasons I didn’t weigh myself this time is because the last time I lost weight I went through quite a few plateaus (and mysterious weight increases). It’s so frustrating! Hang on in there and those scales will go down again Smile

SunshineCake · 22/03/2021 15:03

Congrats on your lower measurements @Crazzzycat. I think more should be made of measuring rather than weighing as I think it is more accurate. I had a loss via the tape measure when the scales were saying no so I like my tape measure!

SunshineCake · 22/03/2021 15:04

@MNHQ

Anyone else getting lava cake recipe videos ?Hmm. Not cool MNHQ

fallfallfall · 22/03/2021 15:16

149.5, not impressed. I’m anticipating 147!!
It is what it is.
I’m actually looking forward to this weeks meals. No to ensure no contraband makes its way into the house!
TOTM ladies, Flowers.

I finally managed to do something last week that I've been planning to do for ages and it was very helpful. (Well, we'll see on Weds, but it FELT helpful).

Made a huge healthy salad thing on Monday, had it in the fridge all week and meant that I could just have a decent bowlful for lunch or even an extra portion as a snack and not feel that I was falling off the wagon. Did the same today: brown rice, roasted veg, various nuts, chopped celery, cucumber, tomatoes, any fresh herbs lurking at the bottom of the fridge, some feta, lots of salt and pepper. Ended up being about one-quarter brown rice, so felt properly full afterwards.

Where do we stand on diet drinks? A diet 7up in the afternoon helps me over the sugar cravings....

Good luck to everyone this week Flowers

SunshineCake · 22/03/2021 17:37

It will come, @fallfallfall 🤞

Your salad sounds great, @overthecorona. I purposely make more dinner than we need some days then have them for leftovers the next day at lunch. Previously my problem would be waiting until I was too hungry to get lunch then discover it took too long to make and would start eating while it cooked.

Diet drinks don't happen here. I was intolerant to aspartame and it is evil stuff anyway. I haven't had lemonade in over two weeks and just drink bottled water.

Meal plan this week
Yesterday was chicken stir fry
Today - made from scratch prawn and corn rosti with salad.
Tomorrow - Cheese and tomato risotto
Wednesday- chicken with cous cous and pesto

I picked out stuff I could make with minimal shopping and this is it.

SunshineCake · 22/03/2021 17:40

That reads as very judgmental @overthecorona so apologies as I didn't mean that. Was meant to be encouraging then got distracted with the oven beeper.

I drank too much fizzy in the past so moved on to sparkling water which is nicer than coke imo and I am not even bothered about lemonade which I love. I would have a slice of lemon in the water and it made it nicer. If you want to stop the diet drinks, then give it a go.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 22/03/2021 17:46

@overthecorona personally I still drink them. General consensus amongst health people is that they're bad....but I've stopped eating Danish pastries every day and chocolate every day and bread everyday, I have green beans instead of Mac n cheese and mushrooms instead of fried bread with my bacon, so I'm having my Diet Coke and that's just that! 😂

SunshineCake · 22/03/2021 18:06

Shout out to @TheRealHousewife. Hope you are okay.

Puffalicious · 22/03/2021 19:22

Positively saintly all day at work then the usual soooo hungry when I get in! Had mozzarella and nuts- healthy but calorific! Blush Had low cal dinner so hopefully not too over.

It's tough when you've had a tough Monday.

SunshineCake · 22/03/2021 21:47

You made better choices than me Puff. I didn't have enough lunch or dinner and ended up having chocolate peanuts and the crisps.

SunshineCake · 22/03/2021 21:54

Not the crisps. Just three.

Puffalicious · 22/03/2021 22:07

Well that's nothing, 3?! I think you can forgive yourself.

132orbust · 23/03/2021 08:28

Quick check in as I drank my ' night of the living dead to reasonably awake person' tea yesterday before weighing in.
I'm at 139lbs today so 1lb up after the week-end. I am back in the zone from today as I pampered myself a bit after my vaccination last week.
I'm laughing at your 3 crisps @SunshineCake I have been know to polish off a family sized bag of Kettle Chips on a Friday and Saturday night. When it comes to crisps I have no off switch.

Puffalicious · 23/03/2021 09:51

Me too 132 I can't open a large bag of New York Sour Cream pretzels without finishing them. I just need to avoid them! I've tried the mini packs at 94 cals each, but there's so few I cry afterwards.🤣

SunshineCake · 23/03/2021 14:31

Oh God, before I started all this I could have eaten a family sized bag of crisps all on my own. I would eat crisps several times a week but these days the thought sometimes makes me feel a bit off. Like when I was fully intolerant to eleventy billion food items and I thought I wanted something and the my body would tell my head, no. Dh gave me a small bit of coke earlier and said have a treat. I said why is it a treat when it is evil stuff. I admit I drank it but did not enjoy it and have told him not to do it again. If he does I'll definitely not be drinking it.

School run now to read my book and eat a small bar of chocolate caramel.

Run tomorrow then weigh in. Eek.

AuldFox · 23/03/2021 14:32

I think 99% of my weight gain was due to kettle crisps (any flavour would do) Grin

fallfallfall · 23/03/2021 14:40

DH came home Sunday with two family sized bags of crisps. I felt like a drug addict, justifying each one...pathetic.
Can’t remember the last time I had any. Anyway it was short lived and not that much in the end.
But it won’t help this plateau...

132orbust · 23/03/2021 16:16

Good Lord - @SunshineCake 's DH giving her a small bit of coke , @Puffalicious crying when her fix was smaller than she needed @fallfallfall jonesing for her hit while waiting for her DH to get back with the stuff!
What have I started here?? Grin Grin
The sun is shining so nicely here and I am stuck inside working so am consoling myself with a cup of tea and a banana.

SunshineCake · 23/03/2021 18:19

Grin.

Sorry...
