HELLO & WELCOME! March already and the start of Spring! We’ll all feel better with the onset of warmer weather ☀️.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.
They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Checking in OP. Thanks for the shiny new thread.

CescaNicole · 01/03/2021 07:19

Hello All - Yay, new thread!!
Happy March!
February was a bit of a naff month for me, hopeful that March will be better 🤞🏻

Starting the month at 10 st 5 lb.
SW in Oct 20: 12 st 1 lb
GW: 9 st 7 lb

Realistic goal weight for March: 10 st 2 lb
Ideal but probably unrealistic goal weight for March: 10 st.

Today is Day One of my "sugar detox"
I am no longer focusing on the calorie numbers but instead - the quality of food going in! I am aiming for maximum 10g of sugar/day as it does seem to be everywhere the bugger, obviously avoiding all the refined and added sugars but still eating some fruit and will get natural sugar from milk etc. I will still log on MFP just to make sure I don't go OTT calorie wise but honestly can't see me eating myself into a vegetable coma anytime soon. Also want to be able to check my macros so logging is helpful.

B: Portobello Mushrooms with eggs
L: Spinach & Sweet Potato Tortilla
D: not sure yet...
Snacks: plain full fat yoghurt and seeds
Also going to bake some chickpeas with some spices on as a snack.

Other goals are...
2L of water a day as usual
4 workouts/week in form of a Fiit app training plan

I am also toying with the idea of doing a 30 day Yoga with Adrienne thingymajig. 🤔

I took some more progress pictures - so helpful to visually see the difference especially when the scales aren't doing what I want them too.

Hope everyone is doing good 💕

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 01/03/2021 07:35

🎉🎈🎉🎈177lb this morning🥳

I've lost 4 stone exactly now. And less than a stone to go to hit the healthy BMI range!

poshme · 01/03/2021 07:54

Can I join?

Getting tired of not fitting my clothes and feeling a bit dumpy.

Ideally I want to lose a stone overall, but realistically I know it will be 1/2 a stone. Aiming for a pound a week in March.

Wfh has made me very sedentary. Aiming to walk more during the day (setting alarms on my phone to remind me) and getting to 10,000 steps.
Trying 16:8 (again) and lower carb.

Wineis my downfall.

7catsandcounting · 01/03/2021 08:25

Can I join, please? I don't know what to do. So fed up. Put on 5 pounds, lost 5, put on 5, lost 5 put on 7. That was February. :-(

I could do with someone to check in with me every day. I know what works. I do it, then binge, do it again, then binge.

I started in September and lost 3 stone. I've been up and down since, but kept the 3 stone off (more or less). Up and down since then.

I have a lot to lose. Another 8 stone at least.

TheRealHousewife · 01/03/2021 08:33

Morning Lovelies

Haha @HalfShrunkMoreToGo ... elephant penis 🤣

Welcome @poshme & @7catsandcounting. Great ladies here who are always happy to support.

I’m aiming to lose 4lb in March. Didn’t make my target in February due to health issues. I did maintain though which I’ll take under the circumstances. More stable now so hoping the scales will reflect that.

1st day of meteorological Spring. Loving the warmer temps. It always seems easier to eat to plan in the warmer months. About 40 days to end of some restrictions ... soon be out and about 😬

Morning all

I am starting March feeling very upset and highly confused. I do not understand why I am 2lbs up since Saturday and 3 since Thursday. I'm heavier than the start of February. I feel quite tearful about it. I don't feel I have eaten badly so I feel it has to be a particular item again. I had felt my intolerances had resolved themselves but maybe not.

I was up twice in the night and felt sick when I woke for the day so I have decided not to go running. I did go yesterday afternoon as a bonus anyway.

Sounds all very positive @CescaNicole. Great stuff.

Huge well done @HalfShrunkMoreToGo. You are doing so so good.

Welcome @poshme. Maybe just miss a few days of no wine rather than trying to cut it out. Have three days drinking and four not would help I am sure.

Biggest weight October 2018 - 14 stone.
Start weight From day 1 of Couch25km - 12 stone 9
Lowest weight achieved Christmas Eve 2020 - 10 stone 11.2.
Today's weight - 11 stone 5 Confused. I was three pounds lighter on February 1st. This extra weight has gone on this week. Don't get it.

Have a good day everyone.

Elle200 · 01/03/2021 08:37

Hi, just checking in. February was disappointing for me, i strayed from my diet too many times and the result showed on the scale this morning when i weighed in at 94.8kgs, a tiny loss of 600g!!

I've been weighing monthly on the first of each month, but i think I'll start doing it every Monday morning this month and see if that makes me more accountable to myself and less likely to stray!

Good luck to everyone as we enter March :)

Pepper54 · 01/03/2021 10:18

Wanted to say hi and thanks for new thread OP. I am still here but focussing on not drinking alcohol at the moment (day 12 today). When the kids go back to school I will get back on the losing weight. So far this year I’ve stayed the same (having lost and regained 5 lbs).

EdgedInBlue · 01/03/2021 10:38

Can I join please?

I have always had a massive weight issue (linked to mental health) but has really spiralled out of control - I lost 4 stone before having my son and then put it all on again plus some more.

I was determined never to get above 20 stone - but reached 22 stone!

I've invested in better scales and restarted tracking on my WW app and lost 8lb in one week.

I am now sitting at 21st 3lb and ideal weight is 11 stone or under ("official" weight for my height is 10st 2lb, but have been told by medics that my build means I'd be "too light" at that, which I take to mean I'd look ill)

CescaNicole · 01/03/2021 11:04

Oops my meal plan has already gone out of the window as didn't realise food shop coming at 4pm. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Shredded Wheat for breakfast and Avocado on Toast for lunch is back up plan.

1st Workout of week completed this morning - low impact cardio.

Welcome Newbies 😁

Puffalicious · 01/03/2021 12:15

Sunshine Cake please don't beat yourself up. I know how it is to be teary- you came to my rescue. It obviously looks like it's related to you feeling sick, that's your body telling you something isn't right.

Please be kind to your mind- you're so good at keeping your body healthy your mind needs it too. Relax today, stick to your plan sleep well and eat lots of protein (it usually is kind on the body, my flares are wheat or dairy).

Have you thought about weighing weekly instead? That way those fluctuations are minimised and you may feel better.Flowers

joysmoy66 · 01/03/2021 13:17

Checking in for the March thread. Starting the month at 10st 4 hoping to end it at 10 st. Welcome to all the newcomers.

CescaNicole · 01/03/2021 13:21

Hope you're OK @SunshineCake!!
Agree with Puff, look after yourself and rest 💕 you do so well and are an inspiration to us all!! I hope you feel better soon.

Well Done @halfshrunkmoretogo!! 4 stone is so amazing! Elephant Penis made me LOL ☺️😅
I meant to ask how you're getting on with the Voost Collagen stuff - is it helping? Worth a try?

Squashbanana125 · 01/03/2021 14:05

I’m in.

Cw: 10’2
Gw: 9’8/9
I was this weight all from aug onwards
Goal for March - as long as I’m losing I’ll be happy. Would like to be back in the 9’s
Going to do 16:8 again as worked well last year.

SunshineCake · 01/03/2021 14:39

Just a quickie as you lovely people have made me tearful in a good way. Thank you so much. I will be back later to welcome the newbies properly and reply later.

Lunch was bean sprouts, courgettes, garlic, red pepper and mushrooms with three passes of greyer cheese on the grated. Christmas pudding and two tablespoons of cream. Dinner is spaghetti carbonara and I'll pass on the garlic bread.

Aim this afternoon is not to eat at the three pm snack time and spend some times crafting.

Back properly later Smile. Thank you.

SunshineCake · 01/03/2021 17:26

I'm in awe that you can manage to only weigh once a month @Elle200 so I am sure you'll do just fine weighing in every day. Wednesday used to be our day, Weigh On Wednesday, WOW, but everyone is different and can weigh whenever they wish. I weigh every time I run which isn't necessarily the best thing.

Well done @Pepper54 on nearly two weeks without alcohol. You will have done yourself a lot of good. Still a win as you've stayed the same and not nett gained.

Back later to carry on.. kids need feeding. .

SunshineCake · 01/03/2021 18:01

Welcome @EdgedInBlue. I think a lot of women emotionally eat and if their mental health is low that doesn't help make the best food choices. I wasn't fed properly as a child and spent years arguing with myself and hating myself for eating when I was hungry at the wrong times or for just the enjoyment of the food item, and it took so long to realise I was only hurting myself and not the person who hadn't fed me properly. They didn't know and if they ad they wouldn't have cared. You can overcome this and we are all cheering you on.

Excellent back up plan there @CescaNicole. I was very touched by you saying I was an inspiration. It really did mean such a lot. Thank you Flowers.

Thank you @Puffalicious. You are very kind. I would love to weigh less often but I'm scared of creeping up if I only weigh once a week after I put 2-3 stone on and didn't know. DH noticed but didn't say a thing. I also don't want to miss the odd loss but I think it isn't healthy anymore, was it ever?, to weigh after every run so I will try hard to go with weekly. I'll run tomorrow, weigh and then wait until next week.

Welcome @Squashbanana125. I mainly do 18:6 but occasionally do 19:5 or 20:4.

sconenotscon · 01/03/2021 18:36

Ooh can I join please?

I'm 2 stone heavier since having my baby in summer and really want to shift the weight but I'm struggling as lockdown has made me sedentary. I've just today started tracking my calories and trying to fit in quick home workouts between mum duties and WFH, but I know myself and these workouts may only last for another week Grin

I'm trying to eat healthy, low calorie and low fat meals. Does anyone follow a specific diet plan that they've had good results with? Sorry if these have been mentioned in previous threads as I've only just found you

Thank you all x

Squashbanana125 · 01/03/2021 19:37

Day one in the bag.

B fast
L- boiled eggs and some turkey
D fish with salad
Snack Greek yogurt and banana plus 2 cereal bars as snacks. Not the best the cereal bars but I didn’t have any berries.

Tomorrow I will go food shopping.
Trying to have more water/squash (today had 3 glasses) doesn’t sound much but it’s baby steps. But feeling positive. I need to move a bit more but maybe tomorrow I will go for a long walk.

Hope everyone is getting on well

poshme · 01/03/2021 19:39

Well I've managed my 10,000 steps which is a good start, and managed No snacks until 5...
But mostly low carb all day & lots of water, so going to count today as a win. Smile

EdgedInBlue · 01/03/2021 20:01

Today I had a Very Bad Day.
Breakfast was porridge
But due to helping clear my grandparents house I unintentionally skipped lunch but had a slice of my uncles 60th birthday cake.

Got home to find DH had made a curry with a mini naan.

TheRealHousewife · 01/03/2021 22:01

Hi Everyone

@Elle200 still a loss, albeit a small one, so well done 👏 Weekly weighing might prove more motivational.

@Pepper54 well done getting to day 12. Great achievement 👍

Welcome @EdgedInBlue emotions, mental health and weight are all entwined. Getting in the right head space is key. Don’t beat yourself up, just start over. You can do this! Do you have MH support? & Food < Just trying to be helpful.

@joysmoy66 we are March target twins both aiming for a 4lb loss. We can do it!

Hi @Squashbanana125. I do 16/8 or 17/7. I find the Zero app really useful to measure intermittent fasting.

Congratulations on your new baby @sconenotscon. I eat twice a day around 12:30 and 6:00pm ish give or take half an hour. I don’t have an appetite for breakfast. I eat lower carb. thefast800.com/articles-and-recipes/Fast800 website has free content and the meals are rather tasty.
Are you breast feeding?

@poshme well done on your 10,000 steps. That would take me 3 or 4 days 😯😬. Pre SCI I regularly did in a day what now takes me a week.

@SunshineCake How are you feeling? More settled ? Sending loving support.

Take care & stay safe.
