HELLO & WELCOME! March already and the start of Spring! We’ll all feel better with the onset of warmer weather ☀️.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.
They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

I see birthday wishes are in order @TheRealHousewife! Happy Belated Birthday Smile

CescaNicole · 03/03/2021 07:38

Well Done @SunshineCake that's awesome. I can't even run up the stairs 😅

Well Done @Auldfox for reaching maintenance weight 🎉 amazing!!

Hope your migraine went away and you had a lovely day @therealhousewife

Wednesday Weigh In for me!
10 st 3 lb so a 2 lb loss.
Wondering if this is an initial reaction to going sugar "free" as I literally only weighed on Sunday to round off Feb and was 10.5 then?! I mean I'll take the loss 😅 but sceptical as to whether it's jus water weight or something disappeared. We will see next week.

If it accurate then I am 2lb away from 2 stone loss 🎉

SW: 12 st 1 lb
CW: 10 st 3 lb
GW: 9 st 7 lb

SunshineCake · 03/03/2021 07:41

I think it would make a difference @CescaNicole unless you only ate 1.2 tsp of sugar per day. I tried really hard to think how to say that without making it sound like you ate half a bag of sugar a day!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 03/03/2021 07:41

Start of this weight loss journey was 233lb, BMI 35.4

24/02/2021 - 178lb, BMI 27.0
03/03/2021 - 177lb, BMI 26.9

Loss this week - 1 lb
Loss this month - 1 lb
Total loss since starting - 56 lb (25.5kg or 4st)

CescaNicole · 03/03/2021 08:20

@Sunshinecake yeah probably too good to be true 😂
I was having a lot of sugar tbh. Some of it in a "healthy" form - like a smoothie! but from what I have read up on, the body doesnt know any difference between a smoothie sugar and normal sugar because the fibre has all gone! So not great really!

Never mind! Day Three of no sugar today, I felt absolutely awful yesterday! Headache and lethargic, zero energy. But I am enjoying being healthier overall and determined to continue!!

132orbust · 03/03/2021 10:27

So guess just what I weighed in at today??
Well it is pretty much the same as I weighed for the last 3 weeks.
Day 58
SW:151
CW:139.75
GW:132
11.25lbs in 58 days
I really do think a fast day might be the only way to get this going again and no better day than today.
Last meal was finished at 7.30 last night so I will go through until 7.30 tonight - I will have tea as I mainline tea Grin

TheRealHousewife · 03/03/2021 13:30

Afternoon All

Thank you for Birthday wishes. Happy to report no migraine and no tablets today 😊.

Welcome back @Happyrascalsmummy, we’re still here ☺️

@Squashbanana125. Good start! I agree small piece of chocolate is better than the full bar.

@fallfallfall lovely to see you back. I was wondering yesterday if you were around or if you’d had a name change I’d missed. How did you find Fast800. When I did the 3 month online plan I lost the most I’d ever had in that time frame. Slow, consistent loss. I’d recommend the program.

@AuldFox Congratulations 🥳🎖👏🥇🥳. That’s awesome. Please do keep on posting. It will motivate others as well as aid in keeping you where you are.

@132orbust Plateaus are so frustrating. I don’t need much over my daily cals to sabotage my efforts. I need to keep mindful of portions to maintain. And eat in deficit to lose. It’s a struggle to be honest. But I think of how unhealthy my weight would be without doing what I do. Keep at it darling, you’ll get there.

@CescaNicole. Keep going! The headache will go and you’ll feel awesome. Well done on your 3 days without sugar.

My WOW is unremarkable. 1lb up. Not surprised with the headaches pills etc. Will be gone by next week.

Have a great day, stay safe.

Well I gave in to the Wineyesterday, but am determined not to today.

Doing well with steps & water intake, and low carb meal all planned.

Really would be a boost to be a lb down by the weekend.

TheRealHousewife · 03/03/2021 16:39

@poshme don’t let your slip yesterday derail you. You’ve got healthy choices planned so that’s half the battle.

Im sure you can kick a 1lb to the curb by the weekend. I’d like that too actually.

I love your confidence that you'll have a pound off by next week @TheRealHousewife.

Didn't weigh today but no achievement as I didn't run. I was hoping to go this afternoon but walked the dog with ds and dh instead. I will run tomorrow for definite as I really want to go now. I have eaten to my appetite today and have finished for the day so hopeful that I am doing good. Must remember not to weigh tomorrow after my run.

fallfallfall · 03/03/2021 18:11

hi @SunshineCake, enjoy the evening and tomorrow's run!
i'm back to weighing in each am before breakfast.
@TheRealHousewife, since the breast biopsy the spring in my step was gone. along with winter i knew i'd gain some weight. i was okay in my mind to go up to 150 but when i saw 152 january 1 i knew i had to take action.
i tried half heartedly for jan and feb to get below 152 but by feb 28 i was 153.5....not good.
having read 1 post on fast800 seeing it was all available online (i don't like reading, plus i've listened to many of his pod casts etc) i thought it would suit my needs.
i signed up march 1, and spotted the weekly recipes and started right away (although officially i'm to start on the 8th).
so far...down from 153.5 to 151.4.
what it's doing is helping my dh realize my portion size (he cooks and gives me 50/50, he makes or buys treats and shares it all), i'm not a 6'3" man but eat like one.
so far it's fine, i'm full and not hungry. dh is aware of the meal plan and the food shop is done. i portion for two and he adds extra (i'll ask if he wants me to pop a potato in the oven for him or what ever suitable starch).
so far so good. outdoor walking again as the snow is all melted. using leslie daily (i'm enjoying the walk run lift series. especially the resistance band).
i hope you're feeling better. how did you like the fast800? how long did you stay on it?

TheRealHousewife · 03/03/2021 19:07

Hi @fallfallfall waves lovely to see you. Hope you’re ok! Fast800 does work I find. Good choice. It’s nutritionally sound and satisfying. I did the full 12 weeks. My other half is 6fter too and when he prepares food also feeds me the same as himself 😳. Sending you a big (((hug))). Take care!

@SunshineCake it’s not fat weight, it’s due to meds. I wouldn’t be able to predict fat loss. Usually put more on with meds but not on them as long this time. Enjoy your run tomorrow.

I'm just checking in. Haven't weighed in yet this week but I'm not very optimistic as I am super pre-menstrual and have been a big, carby weeping mess all week. Failed a fasting day yesterday for the first time I can remember! I've got time to get out for a run tomorrow which will make me feel better.

overthecorona · 03/03/2021 20:40

Frequent lurker finally admitting I want to be in your gang. I just want to give a shout out for 18:6 which has worked for me before. I am not a big breakfaster so find it ok to eat at 12 and just have tea/ coffee before. (I have both with milk and sometimes a bit of sweetener). This also works with current homeschooling lunchtime and should be even easier next week when at least I won't have to worry about anyone but me! I find that you can eat a big lunch, allow for afternoon snack (try to make it fruit but occasionally a Jaffa cake) and reasonable dinner....

here is a link to one of the walk run lift sessions @TheRealHousewife also handy for anyone else who's not sure what some of the newer walk at home video's are like. welcome @overthecorona :), i'll need to get out the calculator to figure out stones to lbs ;)
SunshineCake · 03/03/2021 21:50

I feel liberated from the weigh after every run. I haven't managed to fast since dinner as have had a piece of cheese and three squares of chocolate but it really does not matter. Emotionally I am fine even if I have gained from it. I have until Monday to try and run off whatever I eat. I have solidly kept off 1.5 stone for ages. I am doing okay. Tomorrow I will run. I will run fast. I will struggle and want to give up and I will tell myself I will feel better if I do it so I will carry on and I will do it.

Looking forward to fish for dinner with baked new potatoes and lots of vegetables.

SunshineCake · 03/03/2021 21:56

Don't fret @Drybird2020. It is just one day. You needed what you had. Get yourself a good nights sleep and start again tomorrow.

Welcome @overthecorona. I also do 18:6 or 19:5 and mostly I do okay on it.

Epponnee · 04/03/2021 02:21

Hi all,

I would also like to join as I am struggling with losing the next 10 lbs. I started a year ago after my weight reached a new high. I decided I need to get serious about losing or this gradual upwards gain would continue year after year and I needed to either decide to be ok with that or make a change for good.

Since then I’ve lost about 24-22 lbs, which is fantastic but honestly has been such a slow loss. On one hand, I am happy that I am really changing my habits for good and I am so glad to be 20 lbs lighter than this time last year. On the other hand, that is about 2 lbs lost a month and I really want to see some exciting results.

I am currently at my usual low of 182-180 lbs (13 st - 12 12) and really struggling to get below this. This has always been the weight I am able to diet to before I stall/give up and start to gradually gain again, only to end up at a new slightly higher highest weight. I really do not want this to happen again and I would love to join in and hopefully get some motivation and support from all you wonderful people sharing your stories.

My goal is to lose the next 10 lbs by May (so 5 lbs for March). I am doing some exercise every day and combining 18:6 with no snacking (only two meals) and at least 4 days without alcohol each week.

joysmoy66 · 04/03/2021 08:06

Welcome over the corona and epponee. Ah dry bird don't fret. A small loss for me this week. Now at 10st 3.4lb.

poshme · 04/03/2021 08:28

Well a depressing start to the day- I've gained 2lb.

Shopping today, so going to stock up on loads of veg. Unfortunately DH likes to have snacks in the house, which is difficult as I'd rather not buy them and have them sitting there tempting me!

Squashbanana125 · 04/03/2021 09:55

Sorry didn’t make it on here yesterday, I had the headache from hell. Eating wise was pretty good.

I weighed in on Monday 1st and was
10’2 1/4
This morning weight 9’13 3/4
So a loss of 2 1/4 since Monday. Probably as I’ve cut out all the sugar and choc my body was getting used to daily

Aim to just keep going.

Well done on all the weight losses, small or big.

Smarshian · 04/03/2021 10:25

Well done @Squashbanana125 on getting under 10st. I can’t wait to get there! 10st 8 at the moment and it is shifting so slowly I think it’s going to take me until the end of April to get there 😩.

Puffalicious · 04/03/2021 10:38

Morning all,

So many newbies! Welcome all- we can smash this together! It's great to hear all your stories and journeys.

Weigh in day for me and delighted with 2lb loss after bouncing up and down for a few weeks (I get your frustration 132 and poshme). Now at my 1.5 stone goal, halfway there. It's taken a while (since mid Oct) but as Sunshinecake keeps reminding me, slower off keeps it off, or so I'm hoping.
Straight after weigh in my period started, so I'll be joining you with the hormones by tomorrow Drybird we can weep/ shout together.
Hope you're still liberating yourself with less weighing Sunshinecake I really think it will alter the way you see things.

Squashbanana125 · 04/03/2021 10:51

Thanks @Smarshian. You will get there. I was where you was this time last year.

@Puffalicious well done on the 2lb loss, that’s great

Hope everyone has a fab day

poshme · 04/03/2021 10:58

Well done @Puffalicious!
