HELLO & WELCOME! March already and the start of Spring! We’ll all feel better with the onset of warmer weather ☀️.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.
They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Epponnee · 07/03/2021 01:44

So sorry to hear about your loss @SunshineCake, that is really awful. Flowers

Amazing NSV @CescaNicole! I have a pair of jeans that are size 29 that I would love to fit back into (currently 31) and I started with them not going past my knees but they are now all the way up but not close to buttoning. That day will be so exciting!

CescaNicole · 07/03/2021 08:36

So sorry to hear that @SunshineCake 😥 I hope you are OK!

So exciting @epponnee love a NSV!

Today's plan:
25 min cardio
2L water

B:Porridge with Blackberries
L: Sweet Potato & Spinach Frittata
D: Spicy Pork

Bluenightowl · 07/03/2021 10:53

SunshineCake I’m so sorry. I take the passing of your colleague was a shock. A colleague of mine passed away a number of years ago and I was knocked for six. It had a huge effect on me and made me reflect on my life. It led to huge changes. I gave up work to become a SAHP for a number of years. I hope you are ok.

Today was weigh day for me. I lost one pound.
21/2 Starting weight 10st 3
28/2 2 pounds loss
7/3 2 pounds loss
Current weight 9st 13 pds.
4 pounds loss in total

It’s a long journey.

132orbust · 07/03/2021 13:43

Oh @SunshineCake that must be such a shock for you Flowers We are here if you want to post, I'll keep an eye through the day. It is such a shock to lose a friend unexpectedly.
Came on to say that I am having cote at home tonight so my weight will be up tomorrow but that is ok. I will focus again on Monday.

SunshineCake · 07/03/2021 14:34

Hi everyone

Thank you for your kind messages. Flowers. I feel a fraud for needing support as we hadn't spoken in over twenty years. I used to be her nanny for her baby boy and I thought about her a lot as I still use three particular things she bought me almost every day. I always thought there would be a time to tell her I still had these items nearly thirty years later and now I never will. I also looked after someone else's baby at the same time as we have kept in touch much more. They are the ones who called to tell me.

I'm so confused why I feel as I do. I went for a run to try and clear my head then burst into tears when texting a friend to tell her the news.

SunshineCake · 07/03/2021 14:35

My run was epic. I did two km at 5 something and at one point was running at 4min/km. Couldn't do the three.

Haven't weighed since Tuesday so pleased with that. I will run once more at least before I weigh in. Then it is fingers crossed all round.

EminentlyFabulous · 07/03/2021 14:53

Joined today 😀 12 stone looking to lose at least one stone. Only drawback is working from home and a dodgy thyroid. Had most of my gland removed when I was 16 as it was overactive. My doctor has agreed to increase my dosage which should help. Does anyone else find working from home difficult? I hate winter and all the carbs over Christmas also piled on pounds. Any ideas? I'm not good with diets and eat fairly healthily. All home cooked meals no ready meals and the odd takeout.

Faith50 · 07/03/2021 15:05

Bluenight
Congratulations on your weight loss!

sunshinecake
Good on you for going on a run!

I walked 5 miles today and have drank 1 litre of water. I intend to drink another litre before lunch/dinner. I am cooking a full roast dinner today and looking forward to itSmile

fallfallfall · 07/03/2021 17:05

Weighed in at 150.0 this am
Down 3.5 since last Sunday.
Besides 800 calories a day, I’ve increased my walking and cardio mind you I did 172 miles last month, and 60+ already this month. Not sure that’s sustainable (the walking not the food).
Here’s a photo of my cardio workout 102 stairs.

Bluenightowl · 07/03/2021 20:42

fallfallfall 3.5 pounds in one week is terrific. That’s extremely motivating for you for this week. Well done!

Listenbefore · 07/03/2021 20:49

Can I join you all ?

I have 4 stone to lose and today I was honest with my husband about how it makes me feel.

He has a healthy attitude to food and exercise and I really don't

I am a very emotional eater and I am also probably addicted to carbs. I also drink too much alcohol. We have got into a habit of having one most days. Only one drink or maybe two but we are definitely not having enough days off.

Anyway today I have been looking at healthier recipes and thinking about how to stop myself snacking and thought I would have a nosey here as well. Thought it was a bit rude to read all the thread without saying hello so Hello!

Bluenightowl · 07/03/2021 20:59

Listenbefore Hello, I just joined during the week. Welcome from one newbie to another!

Listenbefore · 07/03/2021 21:03

Thank you @bluenightowl how are you finding it so far ?

Puffalicious · 07/03/2021 21:15

Hi all, esp newbies. It's so good here- someone to pick you up when you fall and give you a huge round of applause when you succeed.

NSV today- had a little try on of some clothes that were too tight before and lots now fit! I am delighted. Back to work in the building next week, so many more of my lovely work clothes will be on show again! At half way to my goal that feels great. Bu goal i hope that some things are way too big!

Had strange desire for Cocopops and milk this afternoon, so I had them. Yum! Still within day's allowance, so why not?

Good luck this coming week all.

MrsOmelette · 08/03/2021 06:42

Hi can I join a little late? I’ve lost 18lbs since beginning of Jan but still have 5 stone to go. I low carb and have started walking this month to try and support my mood/health - dawn beach walks with the dog, 2.5 miles, then 3.8 miles, today will be around 2 as it’s Monday.
Keep on keeping on everyone, your positivity shines through.

CescaNicole · 08/03/2021 09:23

Fingers crossed for your weigh in @SunshineCake, Well Done on your runs!!

Welcome @EmminentlyFabulous, I am on maternity leave so home all day and find it so hard not to constantly snack!!!

Welcome @ListenBefore, I find it so easy to turn to food when feeling emotional. I have a list on my phone of other things to do when I get the urge to emotionally eat. It doesn't alway work though.... 😅

Welcome @MrsOmelette, now I fancy an Omelette 🤣

That's a lot of steps @fallfallfall 😀

Well Done on the NSV @Puffalicious!! That's sooooo good!!!!! Love it!

I am restarting my war against sugar today. I had diet coke yesterday and a big slice of cake from my baking efforts. It was so delicious (if I do say so myself!), however i couldnt get to sleep until 2am. I find it so infuriating not being able to sleep when even the babies are actually sleeping. I don't know if it was because of the sugar, or the caffeine in diet coke (I know there's not much but I am quite sensitive to it) or if it's just one of them things(!!) but I'm feeling fragile today! Going to take it easy overall but try to stay away from the snack cupboard.

B: Herby French Toast
L: Tuna Salad in a Wholegrain Pitta
D: Katsu Stirfy
(there is some sugar in Katsu sauce but never mind)

I'm also going to roast some Cashews in some spices and Parmesan cheese to have as a little snack throughout the week.

Not sure i can face a workout today 🤔

Elle200 · 08/03/2021 10:39

Wow some of you get so much exercise, love your cardio steps fallfallfall!

Today is weigh day for me, I've managed to lose one kg this week, making me 93.8kg.

SunshineCake · 08/03/2021 11:23

Welcome @EminentlyFabulous. I've been at home with the children for nearly 20 years and I think WFH makes it harder as the fridge is always there. In the office most people wouldn't snack. I think it is about training your mind. IF has helped me do that. I can eat what I want with in a set time but I don't go mad. Sometimes I get fed up when I want something and I am not hungry Grin.

Full marks for your walk and water intake, @Faith50. Keep it up.

Wow! @fallfallfall

Welcome @Listenbefore. I am an emotional eater too but mainly I would say was now. I realised what was going on and I don't battle with it quite as much. I'm hoping if you can work out why you'll be half way there to not being so.

I've just made cheese and apple puffs for the dog and she is barking at me. How does she know they are for her?!?!Grin.

Well done @Puffalicious!!! That is great news. It must feel like you have a load of new clothes if you haven't been able to wear them for a while. BTW I haven't weighed once since Tuesday.. and hear hear to the coco pops. If you have the calories and you fancy something then portion it up and enjoy!

Welcome @MrsOmelette and good luck. Your beach walks sound lovely. Dh and I have said the only thing we really miss, and the thing we will do first once allowed, is to take our dog to the beach for a lovely walk and play and a portion of chips. Might even let ddog have her own rather than share ours.

Thank you @CescaNicole. With having to do both kids schools runs as of tomorrow I am not sure when the weigh in will happen. It can't be until my next morning walk and I have been doing the odd afternoon one so it might be a day or so late. Good luck for your sugar out plan. Dh and I had half a beaker of coke the other day and I have decided I am not having it again. I fidget so much trying to get to sleep, too hot, arm hurts, back sore, etc that I don't need coke caffeine adding to the difficulty in nodding off! Your meals for today sound lovely. I am having left over egg fried rice and potato salad and for dinner so far cheesy mash and lots of veg. We had planned fish but we've run out.

Well done @Elle200. I don't understand kg as work in pounds but it sounds a lot. Great stuff!

overthecorona · 08/03/2021 14:19

Well done everyone for keeping up the work / not falling down the slippery slip completely at the weekend.

I know that slow and steady is the way forward, but I'd also love to hear the one or two things that you have all changed that has made a difference to being consistent in losing weight/ feeling good.

For me, it's 16:8 and doing as much shopping online/delivery as possible so that the packet of jaffa cakes doesn't sneak into my trolley.

Puffalicious · 08/03/2021 14:52

Thanks Sunshine Cake and CescaNicole it does feel great! Sunshine, you've been brilliant not weighing! I won't need to keep you in line anymore Grin.

Welcome Mrs Omelette, you've done amazingly well so far losing all that only since January.

SunshineCake · 08/03/2021 17:04

That all depends what happens tomorrow when I weigh after my run, @Puffalicious!!!

Crazzzycat · 08/03/2021 19:27

Can I join too please? I lost 3 stone a few years ago, but comfort eating over the last 12 months has resulted in me putting quite a bit of that back on.

I’m not going to set myself a weight target for this month, as I want to use the next few weeks to get back into some healthier habits. Also, I just can’t face the scales quite yet 😄 I did measure my waist and plan to use that to see if I made any progress at the end of the month. I’m feeling good about this!

Faith50 · 08/03/2021 23:19

Welcome to all the newcomers!

I walked only two miles today and drank 2 litres of water. I skipped lunch and went straight to dinner so only one meal today.

MrsOmelette · 09/03/2021 05:52

Ah thanks @Puffalicious, I think it’s more that I have such a lot to lose! It’ll happen though, my mindset finally got to the right place (I’d been trying for a few days then going off-piste all 2019-2020 tbh).
Yesterday actually ended up being a 24 hour fast as I was so busy, I had lots of fluids though. Today I’m planning egg salad for lunch and chicken casserole for dinner. I can’t go out walking as TOTM is so bad, I’m waiting for gynae appointment about it which is obviously delayed.
