Hi,

Thought I'd start the new thread ready for tomorrow. I am aiming to be 9st1 by the end of March, have decided to be ambitious for once.

Good work getting on it so early @TheHoneyBadger

DS wants roast chicken for dinner today. I've never tried roasting potatoes and other veg without oil - I've had a look online and there are hundreds of tips, including part steaming, part roasting wrapped in foil and then opening them up... does anyone have any top tips? I'm looking for minimum effort so I think steaming first it out!

Kids hey @HeyGirlHeyBoy, very relieved that my two are going back to school tomorrow. Managed over11,000 steps yesterday which was better, food as ever not great, but not awful. 9st 4 this morning, stomach feels very heavy at the moment, god knows whats happening re period. Busy Sunday today, lots to do.

My sister uses a slimming world method which I think involves a bit of stock. Could ask if you like?

Took the dog for quick stomp. My steps are nothing like what people talk of on here even on a good day but I've noticed a couple of 15-20 minute fast walks a day makes a big difference to my calorie burn. Saving the big guns for when I'm slimmer and burning calories takes a lot more work. Can't wait for the gym to reopen.

Now get to have my first coffee and chill whilst the washing machine finishes.

Just short of 95,000 steps for the past week! Next week it's due to rain so walking won't be as pleasant at all.
Diet gets an overhaul tomorrow. It's been appalling.

Thanks for the offer Honey Badger, sorry I didn't reply earlier, it all went a bit nuts here today (standard weekend 🤷‍♀️) so in the end I ran out of time and made them as normal and had less. I'd still be interested to know if you do find out though for next time, thank you.

What do you mean it takes more work to burn calories when you are slimmer? Nooo. 😢. I'm holding out for being slimmer and then being able to carefully and only slightly but still increase on where I am today to hold it there.

62kg this morning.

@Overweight this horrible fact was discovered by HoneyBadger I think when looking at screenshots from my fit bit compared to her fit bit. Despite being a lot more active they showed that I burn far less calories than she does even when she's doing relatively little, if you look at my screenshot for yesterday you'll see that my calorie burn is just over 2,000 despite having 60 active minutes, 15,000 steps and walking over 6 miles. It's because my BMR is lower because I weigh less. If you weigh more your BMR is higher because it takes more energy for your body to carry out its everyday functions. So as you lose weight your BMR will decrease.

Not forgetting height makes a big difference to calorie burn. But yes, smaller bodies require fewer calories to maintain.

I have an air fryer which is amazing for potato with a 1/4 tsp of oil. Got it cheap off facebook marketplace. We don't use it loads but definitely for potatoes and stuff that you want to make crispy.

Yep. My friend and I get on neighbouring treadmills she pounds away running where I walk and mess about with the incline and speed to take my heart rate in and out of peak zone. I burn twice as many calories as her because she is a lot lighter than me.

It takes a hell of a lot more calories to lug 14 stone through the day than 10stone.

0.6 of that random pound is gone again today. Need to be very good for the next few days to hit my 2lb goal.

Back to work today so steps to be done. Off to walk the dog.

Yes, I'm also a short arse so I burn less calories. It sucks. I'd love to be a couple of inches taller.

I've just logged my food so far for the first time in weeks. I'm up to 8,000 steps already thanks to the school run. I'm hungry though as always happens on school run mornings.

That's a serious school run rhubarb!

I'm only at 1500 steps and about to head to work for a pretty awkward but important meeting. I have neat hair, make up, smart clothes and shoes with a low heel.

I never feel comfortable with making myself look more attractive, noticeable etc so it's quite an achievement for me. I need people to start taking me seriously and stop playing small.

Even if you're fat you can still dress up and take care of your appearance I'm remembering

I bet you look fantastic @TheHoneyBadger. Looking smart always makes you feel better. Hope your meeting goes well.

Meeting was relatively pointless as expected but needed to be done and hopefully it deters similar issues recurring (vague I know but basically needed to draw a line in the sand as to how much poor treatment I'd tolerate).

Home with about 5000 steps taken and allegedly having burned 1700 cals already so should be a good day for me. Hobbling around and up and down multiple fights of stairs in heels is apparently good for burning cals.

Hello everyone. I'm back. This lockdown was tough and having got tantalisingly close to my 60kg goal mid-December, I'm now back up to 62.8. I'm not cross with myself because lockdown was a really tough time and I think both my son and I were quite depressed. But I'll get more depressed if I don't shed those kilos, so here I am. Just three weeks of handing the kids over to other people so I need to make the most of it.

I've just briefly read through this thread's messages. Well done everyone for your hard work and successes and sorry not to be commenting individually today.

Good to see you back @Monochrome4. Lockdown has been really hard and its especially hard when you've got young children like you, I know there's no way I would have managed to diet when mine were little lockdown or not.

Welcome back mono.

Winter lockdowns have been tough. I'm currently still losing what I regained but nearly there. Good you're not cross with yourself-it doesn't achieve anything. We just have to get back on it when we're able and get back to chipping away at it.

We can do it 💪🏼

Hi Mono! I've gained too but am not beating myself up either. I'm keeping up with the steps and trying to make better choices. Major steps today. Food quite good and back to IF. We can all do this!

Morning all! I should have weighed myself this morning but didn't. Yesterday was a really active day and I didn't eat after dinner so that's positive.
Hope you all have a great day. Don't forget the magic water!

Pretty good day yesterday as I had a nice long bike ride. Need to try and do some errands at lunchtime today as it's a full on desk day and we have loads of biscuits in the house thanks to a delivery on Sunday. I did also get some bags of nuts and raisins which I find quite a helpful snack so I'll try and open those instead!
Must ask DH what he's planning for tea so I can pop that in MFP before I start thinking about snacks...

The rest of the random pound has gone though it's beginning to look like this may be a maintenance week at this rate. It's ds's birthday today and he wants takeaway and I'm making a cake.

Drinking my magic water.

Thanks for the positive messages everyone and the reminder about water FlatteredFool (I've lost track - did you used to be a savoury dark brown spread?)

First quiet day and I've been feeling pretty down, which is just a symptom of finally having stopped for the first time for ages. A bike ride in the sunshine helped. But I'm not feeling particularly hungry or craving snacks. It makes me realise how much of my eating and snacking is emotional.

I think Nutella was the savoury one but is now sweet. I was a fruity fool that requires a good amount of sugar.
I've made veggie soup for dinner tonight to avoid the whine of what's for dinner? followed by pulled faces.
I am looking forward to getting back on my bike. I love singing along to music on my headphones as I cycle GrinWe are lucky to have a leisure trail here that stretches about 12 miles so no cars to worry about, just lovely countryside.

Hi all,

Weigh day for me today, 10st 0.8lb which is just over 1lb lost since last Tuesday. Quite surprised as, although I've had good meals, I've been snacking a lot.

B Greek yog
L peal barley, chicken and peas
D maybe tofu chilli?

@HeyGirlHeyBoy i didn't thank you for the info you gave me about steps last week - so thank you! Went out for a fast 3 mile walk last night and will try to do the same tonight to offset the sitting at work!

Well done on the loss @TheHoneyBadger and welcome back @Monochrome4 i also took a bit of a breather from it since Christmas and into lockdown. Just been back on it since end of Feb after gaining 6lb.

3miles is a good regular distance to do. My 'block' is around 4 and then I do 6 if I have the time an energy.
