Aiming for 1lb per week

1lbperweek · 02/01/2021 11:25

Previously I’ve been disappointed at losing ‘only’ 1lb per week so have fallen off the wagon but really if I’d just accepted it and kept at it I’d be stones down by now. The science tells me it’s 1lb per week I should be losing on the calorie deficit I had but obviously I wanted more Grin

My plan for January is to ease myself in gently by just stopping the snacks. Then if I need to take more extreme measures in February I will. I’m not great at stopping at one biscuit or one packet of crisps so I think none is the best way forward.

But not until I start work again on Tuesday. I’ll weigh myself then for a starting weight.

Anyone who would like to join me in whichever method they choose is more than welcome!

@NoThanksMountainMan that's the right attitude to have, slow and steady wins the race! Congratulations on the baby x

SchrodingersImmigrant · 19/04/2021 08:53

@CaptainCallisto

Morning Monday weighers! 3lb gain for me this week. It's been a bad couple of weeks food wise so I'm not surprised. I just can't seem to get myself back in the right mindset.
I am sure that's more water than fat, so don't get down too much!

The thread stopped popping up in my "you are on" threads.

Good luck everyone, may any plateaus fuck off soon

BaconAndAvocado · 19/04/2021 09:51

Had a sneaky weigh in this morning and I'm actually less than I thought so that's a good start to the 5:2.
Had a yoghurt and a few raspberries for breakfast....433 calories left?

BaconAndAvocado · 23/04/2021 08:48

Lost 3lb this week so feeling very pleased and positive!
The fast days weren't as hard as I thought and I've been trying to stop eating at about 7pm which has obviously helped.

Got to keep the momentum going now which is the hard bit.

turnaroundtouchtheground · 23/04/2021 09:14

Well done @BaconAndAvocado !!!
Wish I could say the same!
Maintained this week. Better than a gain I suppose but I'll need to be careful this weekend. On the plus side I've been very active this week and my health stats are improving overall.

BaconAndAvocado · 23/04/2021 09:42

This is the first week in ages where I’ve lost weight rather than gained or maintained.
I’m not resting on my laurels. I’m making a carrot cake for the weekend but won’t be eating loads of it as I would have previously. Luckily, the DCs are cake monsters!

snowbiz28 · 23/04/2021 11:28

So pleased you're seeing progress BaconAndAvocado, that is quite some loss in a week, you must be feeling really good. Hang on to that feeling, it'll see you through the cake challenge.

turnaround stay positive, stay realistic and I bet this time next week you'll have new numbers to report.

I am relieved to have lost anything, another 0.8lb, having had a run of good days, bad days. I've made a list this morning, of the reasons why I want to lose weight, for the short, medium and long term so I'm going to set an alarm on my phone and remind myself every day and hope that helps with the motivation.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone.

BaconAndAvocado · 25/04/2021 22:51

Thanks snowbiz28 🙂

snowbiz28 · 30/04/2021 10:32

Disappointed to report a 1.4lb gain. Remembering overall I am more than a stone from where I started so will try not to fixate. Giving myself today to reset and will weigh again tomorrow and start new month with new determination. Might even be able to reverse a fraction of that gain.

Hope everyone else getting on ok.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/04/2021 20:10

It happens to me sometimes. I am a calory believer so I know I didn't eat that many so I blame salt😁 And my body having my sense of humor. It will drop soon. Weight goes up and down all the tim

bonfireheart · 30/04/2021 20:14

@snowbiz28 your overall loss is great so you know you can do it.

I was doing great but my periods started today...
For breakfast I had CAKE and tea
Lunch was a huge of mozzarella chicken
Snack was a can of diet coke and twix
Dinner (blame DD) was kebab and chips

But I know its a one-off and I'll be better behaved again soon!

BaconAndAvocado · 30/04/2021 20:15

Lost another 2lb. Really pleased as I was on the verge of going up a size in clothing.

I expect I won’t keep losing this much in weeks to come but feeling positive right now.

neilmomareglas · 02/05/2021 12:06

I've name changed but have been following this thread.
I was just sent a photo of me. I look dreadful. I could cry.
Instead of losing a lb a week I have put on almost 2 lb.
I despair.

snowbiz28 · 03/05/2021 14:21

@neilmomareglas don't despair. That photo is literally a snapshot. In real life you move and smile and are animated. People do not see that photo of you every time they look at you.
Don't let it throw you off course. Don't know if you meal plan or how you do things, just decide that you will make good food choices for the rest of today and go to bed pleased with yourself.
Think about tomorrow, tomorrow.

neilmomareglas · 03/05/2021 14:26

Thank you for your kind words snowbiz28 I'll try again.

bonfireheart · 03/05/2021 15:12

@neilmomareglas I know it's hard not to get disheartened. I had a loss that i was really proud of, then saw that someone had lost more in a week than I had all month and got momentarily upset. But then decided to look at the bigger picture- am trying, am doing my best, yes it will be small steps and yes will be blips but I am getting there. Good days, bad days, at least you're taking the steps you need to :)

snowbiz28 · 04/05/2021 10:00

Quick note of encouragement to everyone but in particular

@BaconAndAvocado, super well done and you never know, keep on it this week and Friday just might prolong the positive vibe.

@neilmomareglas Have a good day today, mini goals and be nice to yourself.

Lots of good wishes and positive thoughts to everyone else. I hope we're all making progress, whatever form it takes, not always about the numbers on the scales.

BaconAndAvocado · 04/05/2021 11:05

snowbiz28 thanks, I'm wondering if my weight loss will start to slow down this week.
I'd like to think that losing it more slowly means it will stay off longer.

Good luck to everyone else for a positive week 👊🏻

CaptainCallisto · 04/05/2021 17:09

I'm climbing back on the wagon this week. I've put six of the fifteen pounds I lost back on over April. I'm hoping they'll come back off reasonably easily🤞

BaconAndAvocado · 04/05/2021 19:46

CaptainCallisto good luck with getting back on it.

My first fast day of the week and I've got a banging headache. I did go a bit mad over the weekend so I guess my system is in shock,

neilmomareglas · 05/05/2021 08:41

Thank you bonfireheart and snowbiz28

snowbiz28 · 07/05/2021 13:43

How's everyone? So pleased this thread keeps ticking over, it's been a real help to me.

Net loss of 0.8lb, after managed to claw back last week's blip. Was so pleased with that did the big shop and rewarded myself with some posh olives Halo and no other treats made it into the trolley. The rest of the family won't appreciate it but they all have money and legs so...

What I would like is to find a bit of consistency and string together a few weeks of losses, doesn't even have to be a lb/week. Will try and remember that when I'm drawn to the "bad stuff".

Hi all
Hope you’re recovering well from your op SquirtleSquad

I put on 2 lb last week so hoping for a better result tomorrow when I weigh in 🤞🏻

BaconAndAvocado · 14/05/2021 09:43

I've managed to lose the 2lb I'd gained last week 👊🏻

My fast days have been headache-free and so more doable now I've been made aware of how much water I should be drinking.
