Aiming for 1lb per week

1lbperweek · 02/01/2021 11:25

Previously I’ve been disappointed at losing ‘only’ 1lb per week so have fallen off the wagon but really if I’d just accepted it and kept at it I’d be stones down by now. The science tells me it’s 1lb per week I should be losing on the calorie deficit I had but obviously I wanted more Grin

My plan for January is to ease myself in gently by just stopping the snacks. Then if I need to take more extreme measures in February I will. I’m not great at stopping at one biscuit or one packet of crisps so I think none is the best way forward.

But not until I start work again on Tuesday. I’ll weigh myself then for a starting weight.

Anyone who would like to join me in whichever method they choose is more than welcome!

Sounds like you are on track winey mummy, well done. Do what works for you.

I've had a good day today, have exercised and managed to stay off the snacks, will try and repeat tomorrow.

Am optimistic for us all for Friday.

wineymummy · 24/03/2021 17:05

Ha don't count on it. Last night I cracked and had wine, flatbreads and a cream egg. So not egg-sactly saintly...

snowbiz28 · 26/03/2021 09:12

Progress, thank goodness, have lost 1.4lb. Had started to lose motivation when weight had been virtually static for a fortnight but having checked in to this chat has made a big difference. Hope the other Friday weighers are pleased with their numbers too.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/03/2021 09:17

Gteat job everyone! Glad to see everyone is surviving ok😁

BaconAndAvocado · 26/03/2021 10:31

Yay! I’m back on track and have lost 3lb this week.

I’ve been really strict about my eating and exercise and it’s paid off.

Guess it goes to show there are no short cuts.

Now weigh 10st 1lb.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 26/03/2021 13:05

Well done snowbiz28 and BaconAndAvocado, amazing!

I did a Friday weigh in (usually just do Mondays) and I've maintained - again!!! STILL 9 stone 6lbs. I really am thinking this just must be my ideal weight as I'm not losing (or gaining)! I think the heaviest I've been (excluding when I was pregnant) was 11 stone 8lbs which was about 6 years ago. The lightest is 9 stone 2lbs about 1 year ago but I think that loss was due to stress so not exactly ideal! I'll see how things go...

Have a lovely weekend all! :)

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 26/03/2021 14:10

Great work, everyone!

I am down to 65Kgs - from 82Kg when I first started my 'slow and steady' 1lb a week campaign last summer. I am slowing down now - 300g lost over 2 weeks, which is not much at all, but it is a pack of butter off, and I am trying to decide whether I have met my target weight or not. Definitely still need to tone up. Job for after Easter and when the gym re-opens.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/03/2021 15:12

Great job @RainingBatsAndFrogs !!!
Tone up will amke massive difference imho.

wineymummy · 26/03/2021 18:38

Great work everyone!
I got to 76.6 today. Down from 77kg a week ago. Been starving ever since I woke up tho!

Jellifer · 28/03/2021 12:57

Morning, another 1lb off for me today. Have a great week everyone

Morning HoneyCake. I hear your frustrations! I weighed myself today and am 9 stone 6lbs still! I've been the same for weeks now despite watching what I eat and exercising more. You'll see from my previous posts that I'm just starting to think I'm meant to be that weight!! I'm not technically overweight anymore but did have a target of 9 stone. The lowest I've ever been is 9 stone 2 though so maybe I'm not being realistic...?!

Are you exercising as well as dieting?
What does a typical day food wise look like?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 29/03/2021 09:16

I keep stalling too. It seems to be really common issue lately! Maybe it's the weather? The month and body is like "Hell nah. It's March, leave me alone"😂

snowbiz28 · 29/03/2021 18:32

Good to hear from everyone, well done for all your efforts.

Honeycake hang in there. So frustrating not to see the numbers change but think about your goal and give it a bit longer. Do you keep a food diary or record, sometimes there's stuff creeping in that it's easy to overlook. Just a suggestion.

Hope Squirtle's op has gone ahead as scheduled and all is well.

Determined to be disciplined for the next few days as am planning small indulgences over the weekend.

See you Friday

wineymummy · 29/03/2021 18:43

Urgh the stall is the worst.
My new motivation: ordering a trampoline for the kids with a 75kg weight limit. Need to drop 1.6kg! (And...work on the pelvic floor...)

bonfireheart · 29/03/2021 18:51

Please can I join? :)
I've batch cooked soup for the freezer so I can eat at lunch time. Meal planned for evening. Walked 10,000 steps, set up a reminder on my app so I do it regularly. Bought myself new scales that show body fat and weight, logged on app hoping to use half term to go on lots of walks.
My sister bought me a lovely jumpsuit for my birthday two years ago that I still can't fit into, am using that as motivation.
Aiming to lose 10kg in 20 weeks, am trying to be realistic because 65kg seems to my default weight for years no matter what I try!!

CaptainCallisto · 30/03/2021 14:00

Welcome @bonfireheart

I'm not quite sure how it happened, but I've lost a pound this week in spite of having eaten absolute garbage all week. Seriously, I've had cakes, doughnuts, a take away, an entire box of Celebrations... No idea what's gone on! I'm hoping that being at home and able to properly meal prep etc will help get me back on track until the start of term. Knowing me, I'll be well below my calorie goal all week and gain on the scales Grin

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/03/2021 14:07

I can report movement. Hopefully I will get fully back to the exercise and get back on track. Just few kilo behind

bonfireheart · 30/03/2021 14:34

Like the sound of a doughnut diet @CaptainCallisto!!

Silly me went for a walk in a full black outfit on the hottest day of the year!! Did 6000 steps, having a rest before venturing out again (in a different outfit!)

CaptainCallisto · 30/03/2021 19:45

I feel your pain bonfire - I was planting veggies with DS2 wearing a black t-shirt. It's usually later in the year before I start bemoaning the fact that everything I own is black Grin

SquirtleSquad · 31/03/2021 22:37

Thank you for thinking of me @snowbiz28, I had my operation on Monday and am starting to feel human again! I'll be back on the scales when I'm home and about again Grin people keep sending me chocolates and brownies which 90% I've so far managed to regift to nurses and family, the other 10% have been delicious Grin

snowbiz28 · 02/04/2021 17:11

I admire your willpower squirtle, can't imagine being as disciplined under the same circumstances. However, don't want to derail you, keep going and speedy recovery.

-0.8lb for me this week. Regretting having both rice and a naan with last night's curry but leaving it there and moving on.

Really enjoyed my hot cross bun this morning and hanging on 'til Sunday for my first alcoholic drink of 2021. Alcohol isn't a big thing for me so it hasn't been too difficult, it's a very different matter when it comes to chocolate so can see Sunday being very self indulgent. If I can keep it to just one day will be very pleased and am prepared if the numbers have gone up again next Friday.

Hope everyone else getting on ok and enjoy the long weekend.

bonfireheart · 02/04/2021 17:52

Really regret eating a packet of crisps, what a waste of 128 calories, lesson learned.

I felt like that about Maccies' katsu nuggets
wineymummy · 12/04/2021 12:06

Everyone, I am BACK ON THE WAGON! Easter was baaaddd. I let myself have a week off which become 10 days and ended with me sitting on the sofa scoffing chocolate every night. I can really feel the weight creeping back on. Good job it's snowing and I can keep hiding in my woolies for a bit longer.
Back on it from today. Haven't weighed myself for a while, I'll hold off and do it on Friday as it'll be too disheartening to see the scales today. All that hard work earlier this year, ruined by bloody Easter. My in-laws turned up (for a garden visit) yesterday with more eggs. The kids are horrors if they eat too much chocolate. My heart actually sank. I've hidden it in the really high cupboards today so we can all pretend it's not there.
