Aiming for 1lb per week

1lbperweek · 02/01/2021 11:25

Previously I’ve been disappointed at losing ‘only’ 1lb per week so have fallen off the wagon but really if I’d just accepted it and kept at it I’d be stones down by now. The science tells me it’s 1lb per week I should be losing on the calorie deficit I had but obviously I wanted more Grin

My plan for January is to ease myself in gently by just stopping the snacks. Then if I need to take more extreme measures in February I will. I’m not great at stopping at one biscuit or one packet of crisps so I think none is the best way forward.

But not until I start work again on Tuesday. I’ll weigh myself then for a starting weight.

Anyone who would like to join me in whichever method they choose is more than welcome!

I ve come to the conclusion our scales are broken, as they suggest I m 4lb down this week which seems impossible

SquirtleSquad · 07/03/2021 10:35

@1990shopefulftm it could be possible if you've been very very very frugal with calories?

1990shopefulftm · 07/03/2021 10:54

@SquirtleSquad a couple of days I was but I ve had a couple of bad days too and I ve not exercised since Thursday as I m waiting on a covid test result.
I have had my periods start again last week so I suppose maybe it's a hormonal thing.

That's probably what it is, I'm all over the shop with period weight changes!!

SquirtleSquad · 08/03/2021 07:08

Morning lovely 1lb-ers.
It's a big weigh in day for me because it's my pre op consultation so my proper goal day. I needed to have lost at least 1 stone but preferably 1stone 7lbs and thanks to all of you for helping me along my journey I have done it! I'm down 1stone and 10lbs!!! Still a long way to go to my final goal weight but it's such a great start.

CaptainCallisto · 08/03/2021 07:17

Well done, Squirtle! Hope the pre-op goes well.

It's another pound and a half off for me today, which means I've hit my first stone. Very pleased! One down, three to go...

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 08/03/2021 07:32

Squirtle Well Done! That is so brilliant, you have done amazingly. Very pleased for you, and good luck in your consultation today!

Fantastic milestone, CaptainCallisto!

I am pleased as I weigh in Kgs and in my slow and steady style it generally takes me 2-3 weekly weigh ins for the big number of Kgs rather than the .grams to change: I am down past another number of whole Kgs this morning.
16.2 Kg lost since I started my new healthy eating outlook in May last year.

SquirtleSquad · 08/03/2021 09:03

@CaptainCallisto that's fantastic congratulations!!! Such a motivating milestone Star

ButterflyOfFreedom · 08/03/2021 14:32

Wow, well done on the losses! There are some great inspirational stories on here :)

Weigh day for me and I seem to have lost the 2lbs I put on last week! So back to 9 stone 6 lbs.
My goal is 9 stone but these last 6 lbs are proving hard to shift!!

Here's to a good week all!

BaconAndAvocado · 11/03/2021 15:17

I've lost the 2lb I gained last week.
So that's 3lb now, still half a stone to go.
Not long till the chocfest that is Easter too.....
Does low-cal chocolate exist?!

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 11/03/2021 16:25

I have lost just under 1kg (900g) in the last week so I’ll take that! Total loss since 1st Jan is now 8.8kg. I have 5.5kg to get to a healthy BMI and will go from there.

I’m doing quite a lot more walking now ds1 is back at preschool but my back is aching a lot more (had spinal surgery in December) but do feel like I’m getting stronger.

I’m having my kitchen painted today so this has prevented snacking as I cant get in there and I’m starving Grin

SquirtleSquad · 13/03/2021 19:53

I'm really really struggling this week, I've tried following a few healthy eating and exercise accounts on Instagram to try and fill my feed with inspiration to keep going but I keep finding myself sat on the sofa snacking whilst looking at them BlushGrin

SquirtleSquad · 15/03/2021 07:22

It's a small gain for me this week, scales have been stuck here all week and won't budge. Never mind, next week 🤞🏻

Total loss to date: 23lbs

ButterflyOfFreedom · 15/03/2021 07:59

Gain for me too - just 1lb so I'm 9 stone 7 lbs now.

I know I over-indulged with all the Mother's Day treats so no surprise!!

Still aiming for 9 stone so half a stone to go!

Have a good week all!

1990shopefulftm · 15/03/2021 11:42

I think I ve gained 1lb, I ve had a nasty sinus infection whilst trying to have enough energy to look after a 4 month old during the week so it's to be expected really.

CaptainCallisto · 16/03/2021 06:51

I've really fallen off the wagon this last week. I've been back at work and it's just totally thrown me!

BaconAndAvocado · 19/03/2021 12:23

CaptainCallisto me too. There's no point in weighing myself.
I've really given in to sugar cravings this week. No excuses, just been far too greedy.
Not sure where that zone is...the one in which I'm motivated about losing weight.
But when I find it I'll let you all know 🙂

DottyP · 19/03/2021 12:33

I have been watching this thread since mid Jan when I hit the scales at an all time heaviest of 12st 2oz. Since then I have been much more mindful about what I eat (don’t consider it a diet). I skip breakfast then eat a piece of sourdough topped with avocado and either chicken, mozzarella, smoked salmon and salad for lunch, snack is either apple or Kit Kat, then smaller portion dinner. Low cal jelly. I do regularly have a large g&t and then wine at weekends. Also have allowed myself to eat takeaway at weekends too. I don’t do any specific exercise other than regular dog walks and I have so far lost 9lb 2oz. I really have changed my mindset about “being on a diet”. I enjoy what I eat and don’t feel I have given anything up. Got a lot of inspiration from here so thank you!

Juno231 · 19/03/2021 13:20

Hi everyone can I please join? I'm 33, 5'7" and I most recently weighed in at 75.6kg on Monday. Much like you, I'd like to lose a pound/week (although for ease I'll call it 0.5kg) until the 24th of July when I'll have the first wedding of the season to (hopefully) attend! That basically gives me 19 weeks so even if I slip up some weeks it'll be a good result overall - although if I manage to reach 66kg as planned I'd be ecstatic!

So.

SW: 75.6kg on 15/03/21

First mini goal? To hit 72kg as that would bring my BMI to 24.9 and back into the normal category!

snowbiz28 · 19/03/2021 17:40

I've just read the thread from the beginning hoping to find some support and motivation. You sound like a great bunch, realistic but determined and then I see its all starting to go a bit quiet. It would be so good if we could reinvigorate the thread because that is also exactly what I need, after doing quite well with solo weight loss thus far this year. I've just started to stall and if I don't make myself accountable I fear I will undo what I have acheived, which is a 12lb loss. Can we kickstart each other and the thread? Do hope so.

BaconAndAvocado · 19/03/2021 18:05

snowbiz28 I'm all for a bit of kickstarting!
I need to get back on the horse again and, like someone has just said, I don't want to consider myself as being on a diet.
Diets don't work in the long run but I think changing eating habits and behaviours will.
I'm going to do a weigh next Friday no matter what 👊🏻

ButterflyOfFreedom · 19/03/2021 22:53

Yes to the kick starting, I need a nudge too!

I weigh myself on Mondays (annoyingly usually after an indulgent weekend when I let myself have treats after being good all week!!)

Being in lockdown isn't helping as obviously we can't go any where / see anyone so I'm in the house more eating!!

Let's see what the scales say on Monday - I'm 9 stone 6 lbs and am aiming for 9 stone eventually...

craftymadam · 19/03/2021 23:05

Can I join you all too?
I'm 5ft 7 and I weighed myself on Monday and was 12st 2lbs. Ideally I'd like to be 11stone, if not slightly under...
Hoping you can all inspire me to shift this weight once & for all! Smile

wineymummy · 20/03/2021 08:52

I'm still here! I need reinvigorating. I got stuck at a plateau for weeks. Got down to 78kg and just bounced up and down around there for ages. So I stepped away for a while to stop feeling disheartened. Weighed in yesterday for the first time in a fortnight at 77kg so hopefully I'm back to making progress, albeit slowly. I really need to up my exercise I think, I'm still eating pretty healthily. Need to remember the slow and steady mantra.

CaptainCallisto · 20/03/2021 09:39

I'm definitely up for reinvigorating - I need to get myself some accountability back I think.

I think I've worked out where my issue has cropped up being back at work: I've gone from mindful eating and only having breakfast and lunch when I'm hungry (and then tea with the kids) to having to have my breakfast and lunch ridiculously early. I was having breakfast at about half nine and then lunch around two, but now I'm out of the house for eight and my half hour lunch break is at 11.15. (I'm a TA so can't eat other than on my break). It means by the time I get in from work I'm starving and eating. Need to try and make sure I go for something light rather than a round of toast or something like I have been!
