Hi all
I really need to lose a total of about 4 stone.

I'm not keen on the usual weight loss type chats with methods and foods etc discussed in detail.

So I was trying to think how it could be more interesting.

This might be a crap idea but I know I do better when I have interesting things to do. Today I've done my workout, some drawing and keyboard practice. I've also read a couple of chapters of Women Who Kill (!) and watched The Crown, I'm on Season 2.

It was those things that made snacking on a boiled egg less of a shock 😂

So I was thinking, what about a support thread where we don't talk about the details of our methods, but just check in for support, and tell each other something interesting we've done that day, even just a film we've watched.

Is it a bonkers idea?

PaintTheFence so I’ve heard, I think I’ve settled on starting that tonight then! 👍🏻

Same, I’m sick of looking pregnant, I’m slim everywhere else apart from my tummy! Luckily I can do up my jeans easier now but still a way to go! Plus, I feel so much better for eating healthier and not drinking alcohol!

Eggsley · 01/01/2021 16:07

Happy new year all! I posted a few days ago and haven't been back since as my new year health kick has only started today. The last few days have consisted mostly of wine and chocolate GrinI weighed myself this morning and I've put on 3lbs since I last weighed myself a couple of weeks ago.

Today I've started intermittent fasting, which means I eat between 12pm and 8pm only. Outside those times I can drink black coffee or water. It sounds restrictive but when I did it earlier in the year, I got used to it really quickly and it worked really well so I'm trying again. I stopped it before because work was awful and I just wanted wine in the evenings. Blush

I've been out for a walk around our village, only 3km but it's a start as I don't usually do any exercise at all.

Hope everyone has had a relaxing day!

MrsBobDylan · 01/01/2021 18:20

@GwendolineWindowlene I am a self-employed upholster. I buy busted up mid century sofas and armchairs and wrangle them back to beautiful.

Just before Xmas I bought myself a very beaten up Ercol Studio Couch and did it up with the loveliest woven fabric, but the webbing is too elastic and I keep disappearing into it (nothing to do with my weight I'm sure Blush).

I did an evening class years ago but I prefer you tube and giving it a go. It is lots of fun!

GinnieHempstock · 01/01/2021 18:35

@GwendolineWindowlene

X-posted with Ginnie. Bakewell tart and a gentleman in long johns? You’re living your best life, as I believe the young people say.
Each and every day. Including today, where I have had the excitement of housework and taking the Xmas decorations down.

Have also gone for a 5km run and had a long, leisurely afternoon bath afterwards. I always feel very decadent when I have a bath in the middle of the day.

Well done on all the activity.
@Dontsayyouloveme I love the image of you walking to the garage in your dressing gown. I hope you play some music very loudly and shadow box as you go to give the neighbours a show. 😀

I’ve signed up to RED January, so need to do 30 minutes of activity every day. I thought it would give me a bit of a push.

Off to watch Doctor Who now with DS3.

IHateCoronavirus · 01/01/2021 18:47

Can I join the fun too? I’m a five foot three chunky monkey with 25kg + to free myself from.
DH bought me a baby budgie to give me something to focus on other than eating. I was a bit Confused at first. So far so good I’ve already lost 6kg.
I’m trying to get the little fella to say “open the cage and I’ll give you a biscuit!” Grin
So far s/he has mastered sitting on my finger! I might actually be in love!

Cocolapew · 01/01/2021 18:59

Hello can I join? I'm the heaviest I've ever been, a combination of steroids and greediness.
I need to lose 2 stone, I was recommended to do a very low carb diet, 3 days in and the headache is unbelievable.
I got a lotus (?) mat, the type with the sticky up plastic bits, and I lie on it for 20--30, minutes in bed, I find it helps me sleep.

This is what I mean.

Hello Coco, do you lie on that in the middle of the night if you can’t sleep, or just at the start? Middle of the night waking is the bane of my life at the moment.

Dontsayyouloveme · 01/01/2021 19:33

GinnieHempstock brilliant 😂🤣

I don’t but I will now! 😂 🥊

Both Gwendoline, if I wake up and lie on it I usually fall asleep on it and end up with a holey back 😆

I've got one of those but I find it makes me more awake!

Someone I work with told me that lying on them gives you an orgasm. I think I must be using it wrong HmmGrin

😂😂😂😂 no, they are!

I ended up having a can of soup for dinner because a friend was on the phone for two hours, she's probably helped my diet!

Happy new year everyone.

I am starting tomorrow. I gained a lot over Christmas which is fine and I accept that.

And now it’s time to get it off again and continue on the downward path.

I’m having an early night tonight to get me off to a good start.

acatcalledjohn · 02/01/2021 03:04

This sounds fab, I'd like to join too!

I drank for about 8 days straight over the Christmas period and ate all the food. Despite remaining active during that time I've grown a pouch and frankly need to pull myself together. I don't have much to lose (prob about a stone and a half in total), but I have to get rid of that unsightly pouch more than anything.

Today I ran a 5k, and I intend to go for a walk tomorrow as well as do some strength training. I received a £50 gift voucher for one of the recipe boxes so we have ordered two recipes a week for the next few weeks. They are calorie controlled and fairly balanced, so hopefully that will help.

I've done it before without starving myself by using MFP for calorie tracking so this should be manageable. Not sure how much I'll use MFP except for recipes (to calculate calories), so having a more accessible platform may be good.

acatcalledjohn · 02/01/2021 03:06

Oh, and a happy and healthy new year to you all!

HereIgoagainagain · 02/01/2021 09:19

Morning all

I have de christmased the house and put away all the crap food .
I still have a bloody essay to write for Tuesday so today will mostly be about that. So thats fun Hmm

Have a good one everyone !

GwendolineWindowlene · 02/01/2021 10:35

And do you manage to make a living from it, Bob? That sounds fabulous if you do. I have a fantasy about doing a job that requires a studio at the end of a beautiful garden where I listen to Radio 4 all day. Is that your life? Grin

I'm off for another walk together. I had a look at Red January, mentioned somewhere up thread, and it looks like I'm doing it by accident. Half an hour of activity a day is doable, I think. Happy days!

AcornAutumn · 02/01/2021 11:02

Gwen "I have a fantasy about doing a job that requires a studio at the end of a beautiful garden where I listen to Radio 4 all day. Is that your life?"

I still remember a house I saw with a set up like that.

My soup dinner did not come out so well on the scales. One day this week I was 1.5lb lighter but I must have stood on the scales the wrong way that day!

It's absolutely bitter, I was going to go for a walk, but no, all exercise indoors for a long while according to weather forecast.

I nearly watched The Conjuring last night but wasn't sure if I was in the mood for a scary film. Anyone seen it?

Youngatheart00 · 02/01/2021 11:12

Combining this with dry jan as the vast majority of my 4st weight gain over the past 4 years has come from booze, I’m sure of it!

Felt virtuous last night sipping a herbal tea and then being in bed by 10 although it did take me ages to fall asleep (believe that can be normal when you’re used to being numbed by booze!)

Cocolapew · 02/01/2021 11:16

My head is still busting, maybe I shouldn't have went cold turkey on the Diet Voke Hmm.
DD ordered a new phone last week and it's supposed to be delivered by DPD, we're in NI so theres a bit of hassle getting stuff since Brexit canme into being.
It better come today becaise I'm sick of getting texts from her asking if it's here. She went to her boyfriend's for lockdown and is now isolating due to his mum having covid.

GoLightlyontheEarth · 02/01/2021 11:41

How did you get into that? I’d love to do it!
