A weight loss thread with no boring diet info

Hi all
I really need to lose a total of about 4 stone.

I'm not keen on the usual weight loss type chats with methods and foods etc discussed in detail.

So I was trying to think how it could be more interesting.

This might be a crap idea but I know I do better when I have interesting things to do. Today I've done my workout, some drawing and keyboard practice. I've also read a couple of chapters of Women Who Kill (!) and watched The Crown, I'm on Season 2.

It was those things that made snacking on a boiled egg less of a shock 😂

So I was thinking, what about a support thread where we don't talk about the details of our methods, but just check in for support, and tell each other something interesting we've done that day, even just a film we've watched.

Is it a bonkers idea?

I de-Christmased the house last night, which took ages but I feel ready to start the year now. I've been for a walk up to the shop to get some bread, and just had some lunch. DH is watching the football, I am going to fill in my new year family calendar and then go for a walk later on. I'm so unfit - my legs and bum are actually aching after my walk yesterday and I didn't really go that far Blush

You'll get in the groove really fast, honestly. You could try arnica gel for aches.

Have you got nice places to walk?

You know that thing where you see the word your brain expects to see?

I was shopping for undies, then a Veganuary ad popped up on MN and I thought it said "make the most of PANTS" 😂

Grin that made me snort my coffee!

Keep going with the walking Eggsley. Having nice places to walk really helps.
We are just back from a lovely snowy walk in the countryside surrounding us. I reached my daily steps without realising we were having such a nice time.

All the Xmas food is nearly gone.
Come Monday, I’m back on 100g protein and 100g veg three times a day, only water between meals and 5 hours between meals.

Today I met a friend and walked 10 miles along the canal and now I’m babysitting so can’t eat rubbish as it’s not my house! Another walk planned tomorrow. I’m feeling positive.

GoLightlyontheEarth · 02/01/2021 16:57

@Spanielmadness

That sounds like a good plan. Do you mind giving me examples of what you might eat? I need to drastically cut down on carbs.

Spanielmadness · 02/01/2021 17:08

@GoLightlyontheEarth so 100g salmon with 50g broccoli and 50g green beans.
Or cheese and apple, same weights.........
Yoghurt you can eat 160g. Got to be full fat. No starchy carbs.
2 meals off the programme a week, so you have something to look forward to.

The idea is you reduce dependence on sugar and burn body fat between meals rather than constantly snacking. It’s hard the first week, then your hunger just goes - you’re only hungry at mealtimes, not throughout the day.

There’s a science to it, but it’s long to go into here. I was doing this before December and the weight came off quickly, but I’ve slacked this last month......

My downfall is snacking through boredom/something to do/habit so as long as I’ve got things to do, I don’t find it too arduous.
I’m in tier 4 now though......... today my partner and I discussed the fact there was a new bench in the park, so that gives you an idea of the level of excitement in my area......... 🤣

That's the idea behind the thread

No boring diet talk but lots of chat to keep us going and interested in whatever our hobbies and interests are. Looks like there will be new hobbies emerging from this thread, which is fantastic.

I've done a massive load or organising stuff today and now about to attempt something called "chord styling" on the keyboard. Wish me luck!

Tomorrow I must crack on with some sketching. I really want to progress to painting but boy, do my drawing skills need work!

I am due back in work on Monday (secondary school it is going to be bonkers! )
I do have OU studying to do but I want something a bit more fun to fill my time if anyone has ideas. I am trying to do a bullet journal but I'm honestly not sure I have the motivation to keep it up.

I think I need to see what Monday looks like and then decide what to commit to. I really don't want to do my usual thing of promising myself all sorts of things and then failing.
I work in pastoral care at school and I have no idea how the next few weeks will look.

Yes, I can imagine.

My sister likes to do colouring books to destress.

I work in a Special School so I'm back next week too. We are doing online training on Monday and Tuesday so that should be fun Confused I'm useless with tech of any type.
Plus I have the biggest coldsore known to man, I'm going to pretend my camera isnt working.

IHateCoronavirus · 02/01/2021 19:36

I love a good training day! For some unknown reason I’d always save my best undies for training days. I’m a happily married woman! Grin

I also love a good colouring in session, however I have never managed to click with formal, mindfulness, colouring activities. I’m more into colouring in the a, d, g, b, q, o and ps on printouts during inset days! (Whilst wearing lovely pants) Wink

HereIgoagainagain · 02/01/2021 19:38

The wearing good pants for training days really made me laugh Grin

Were you lot the inspiration behind Bloc Party "I Still Remember"? 😂😂

A lovely song about a shag - or did they/didn't they - on a teachers' training day, if you don't know it.

OP posts:
AcornAutumn · 02/01/2021 19:57

Oh wait
Was it pupils shagging on the teachers' training day?

Clever songwriting!

It's v good.

🎤our love
Could have soared
Over playgrounds and rooftops
Every park bench screams your name
I kept your tie...🎤

Oh and they their trousers by the canal 😂

I did tell you all this was a thread to distract from boring diet stuff 😂
