Hello & Welcome

Following on from the September thread...

This year is going by so quickly; before we know it festive movies will be on the TV and we'll be prepping for Christmas. I for one am going the extra mile to make it special for my beloved family and bugger C19 (must add we won’t be breaking the rule of 6!)

Every year part of my Christmas prep includes going all out to feel that bit healthier, fitter and slimmer. I’m happy to say this year I’m ahead of the game due to the people and support on these LOSE IT! threads. Thank you!

If you yourself want to feel healthier, fitter and a little bit more svelte, jump on board, there’s plenty of room. The ladies already here are supportive and knowledgeable!

This bit is copied from my post on here.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😀.

Poor *@TrisolarisCat and only half a bar I said impressive.

My kids are going back to school today, not planning on running though fretting about it. Might go on the bike instead. Feel nauseous and a bit fretful. Worrying about ds2, not happy with what dd is wearing for non uniform day but she will have to accept it if school send her home.

SunshineCake · 02/10/2020 07:40

Only half a bar is impressive *

Flirtydove · 02/10/2020 07:52

Morning all,
I broke it in a really freak accident tripping over my DS bike, went over backwards and smashed my elbow on the concrete Confused Nothing exciting sadly.

Hoping I get some sort of physio but we are likely to be in a county lockdown in the next day or so.....

Galvantula · 02/10/2020 08:08

@salad49, don't worry about hitting a set calories for breastfeeding. Just eat when you're hungry, drink so you're not thirsty. Don't need to try to get extra in. Just don't forget to eat and drink (more applicable to newborn time than 9 months 😅).

I lost weight after my 3rd baby just by eating whatever I felt like the first 4 ish months then I started back gently logging in MFP. More using it to keep calories sensible then lose at first.

I find it helps me make healthier choices, as I'll consider what will fill me up for fewer calories sometimes. Rather than going straight for chocolate or cheese. :).

TheRealHousewife · 02/10/2020 08:11

Sounds painful @Flirtydove! Ouch.

Sounds tough @Trisolaris. BTW Tony’s choc is the best! I agree with @SunshineCake 1/2 a bar is impressive... that said, I won’t have it in the house as i hear it calling me from the cupboard to be gobbled.

Only 1lb down this week, but makes a stone since 31st August. I suspect I was least half a stone heavier in June

Start weight 31/8 13.11
2/10 12.11
Weight loss 14lbs

TheRealHousewife · 02/10/2020 10:34

My goodness @Aurorie11 that’s fantastic! Well done on your progress 🏅⭐️👏

@TheRealHousewife thank you, unfortunately I've got lots to lose as I'm very short 5-1. So I need a hard core start, only 1lb loss this week but cant complain given lost 13lbs in 3.5 weeks

TheRealHousewife · 02/10/2020 13:06

@Aurorie11 I sympathise with being petite in statue... I’m a whisker off 5ft 😳😬. Every extra oz shows!

Hi all, quick check in as I have a blinding headache - day 2 of it no less. DS was off colour yesterday so home then and today and DH not well either, but in work as who else would do it? (not Covid related i hasten to add)

Hope you are feeling a bit better @SunshineCake

Waves to everyone new and "old" x

Trisolaris · 02/10/2020 15:19

Hi all,

Vet has updated that kitty has a normal temperature for the first time in four days! I’m so relieved. She’s had four days of fluid treatment, painkillers and antibiotics along with full bloods and scans of all her organs. Cost us an arm and a leg and they still don’t really know what happened but the high temp was really alarming.

We can pick her up later and hopefully that’s the last visit for a while.

Thanks for all the good wishes. Hope you feel better @SunshineCake and @MrsJonesAndMe

Also if anyone is wondering, dp and I finished off the chocolonely after dropping off dcat at the vet and then had burgers for breakfast as our reward for getting her through last night! Diets are out the window today!

MrsJonesAndMe · 02/10/2020 15:41

Sounds like a tough day @Trisolaris glad things are looking up.

I'm definitely going to have some painkillers with my tea in a minute.

CescaNicole · 02/10/2020 16:12

Hi Everyone can I join too please? Bit late to the party.
I've just weighed myself for the first time in about a year and I need to lose about 3.5stone. I've just had a baby 3 weeks ago so pregnancy has been the main reason for the weight gain plus I was still trying to lose the baby weight from baby #1 when I fell again!
I definitely enjoyed my food during pregnancy!!
My goals for October are to avoid unhealthy snacks but continue to snack as and when needed as I'm breastfeeding, to log food on MFP so I'm conscious of calories, and to drink 2 litres of water a day.
I'm really bad at drinking water!!
Will be cutting out all fizzy drinks/choc/cakes etc.
I haven't set an exercise goal as its still so soon after giving birth but I do feel OK so I might attempt some light workouts/long walks soon if I can.
Will be weighing myself once a week and have taken measurements. Not sure i can stomach taking photos but I know they are beneficial.

Feeling positive about it right now!! 💪🏻

SunshineCake · 02/10/2020 16:27

Thanks @MrsJonesAndMe and @Trisolaris**. I feel better now the kids are home without incident though I've got a sore throat again.

Didn't go running. It was raining heavily so I walked the dog and decided I needed a proper rest for my knee. I will go again on Monday as I am not giving up.

Great news about your cat *@Trisolaris**.

Welcome *@CescaNicole and congratulations on your baby. I am sure I read that breastfeeding mums only need the equivalent of an extra slice of toast a day to feed their child but I would check that. I remember being surprised in some ways it was so little.

FatGirlShrinking · 02/10/2020 17:30

Need to catch up as missed a couple of days. Welcome to newbies!

@Trisolaris glad your cat is doing better and @SunshineCake sorry DS isn't well, hope the blood results come back quickly and are good news.

Joined PureGym today and spent 30 mins on the treadmill. Found it all a bit intimidating being surrounded by so many fit and healthy people while I puffed away on a slow treadmill, bright red in the face but did it so proud of myself for that.

I figure with the weather on the turn walks and jogs outside will be a bit less enjoyable.

9lb to lose before I'm not obese, need to keep on track. I'm giving myself a 4 week target to hit that goal.

SunshineCake · 02/10/2020 18:06

That's a great target *@FatGirlShrinking. Well done for the gym work. Take no notice of everyone else. This is for you, not them.

fallfallfall · 02/10/2020 21:39

Wow @FatGirlShrinking, well done!

salad49 · 03/10/2020 08:02

@Galvantula, don't worry, I definitely don't forget to eat and drink 😂 we're only doing 3 x 5 minute breastfeeds a day now so certainly nothing like the newborn days which were about 40 minutes 7 or 8 times a day (and night!)

I also have to log everything on mfp even though I will generally eat the same thing every day, but I find logging definitely helps cut out the snacking as I just don't want the wasted calories. I've been more active the last few days and that seems to have made me less hungry so fingers crossed I keep it up.

@FatGirlShrinking well done you for joining the gym, I always felt I kind of missed the boat with the gym, I've literally never been in one, and now I just don't feel comfortable going and being the newbie!

@CescaNicole congratulations on the baby, wish I could have had your motivation so early on, I kept telling myself I would start next week, and then the week after and so on and now here we are 9 months later...

FatGirlShrinking · 03/10/2020 08:11

@salad49 I was looking at the fancy ones with swimming pools as love swimming but hate that the changing rooms are closed in the council leisure centres.

David Lloyd, living well and BUPA ones were coming in at about £100 a month with minimum 12 month term which is crazy! I could probably get a little car on finance for that!

So decided to go with PureGym as only £17.99 a month (no joining fee and half price first month) and can cancel whenever I want.

I was very much not making eye contact with anyone, just put my headphones on, cranked up the music, stared straight ahead and tried to pretend all the buff, healthy people weren't there Grin

In that weird stage of dieting where all my clothes and bras are baggy but not quite baggy enough to justify smaller sizes, so I'm walking about looking like a bag lady at the moment. Not quite sure what size I need and it's really difficult now changing rooms are closed.

CescaNicole · 03/10/2020 13:22

@SunshineCake thankyou! I have read something like that before too. And similar for when pregnant too. Eating for two is definitely not supposed to happen! I think I ate for four...!!
@Salad49 thankyou! I spent the last few weeks of pregnancy really struggling with my appearance and in photos I can't believe how big I look! So I was pretty much just waiting to pop the baby out and get started haha!! Hopefully I can stick to it..!

fallfallfall · 03/10/2020 15:25

@FatGirlShrinking, earlier in the month when we went on our road trip I stopped into my favorite clothing shop and tried on jeans. Jeans in real sizes vs my usual athletic wear.
I was pleasantly surprised!
Life’s to short, got a 40% off 1 item coupon in the mail this week and ordered the jeans and two really nice sweaters (jumpers).
No matter what size I am I have something casual but nice to wear. Just in case a special occasion comes up. Including undies. I have a love hate relationship with bras though.
Going to the gym is a good thing, keep up the good work.

Aurorie11 · 03/10/2020 19:29

Struggling today, got a no thanks rejection from a job I interviewed for earlier in the week late yesterday. It was a change of direction, massive pay cut and over qualified, got told lacked experience and skills (I’ve emailed this morning and asked what experience and skills i lack, not expecting a reply), very peed off - have stropped and have eaten too much today, but did make myself go for an hour’s walk in the rain.

SunshineCake · 03/10/2020 20:12

Sorry about that *@Aurorie11. You're better off without them when they can't even tell you the truth about why they haven't offered you the position.

TheRealHousewife · 03/10/2020 20:17

@MrsJonesAndMe hope your headache goes soon! Look after yourself, plenty of fluids, sleep etc.

@Trisolaris Great to hear, I bet your so relieved!

@CescaNicole jump right in 😊 Congratulations on your new little human 👶

@Aurorie11 Commiserations, what a huge disappointment for you. Hopefully other opportunities will be on the horizon.
