Hello & Welcome

Following on from the September thread...

This year is going by so quickly; before we know it festive movies will be on the TV and we'll be prepping for Christmas. I for one am going the extra mile to make it special for my beloved family and bugger C19 (must add we won’t be breaking the rule of 6!)

Every year part of my Christmas prep includes going all out to feel that bit healthier, fitter and slimmer. I’m happy to say this year I’m ahead of the game due to the people and support on these LOSE IT! threads. Thank you!

If you yourself want to feel healthier, fitter and a little bit more svelte, jump on board, there’s plenty of room. The ladies already here are supportive and knowledgeable!

This bit is copied from my post on here.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

I'm going to download some variety of food tracker today as my one new good habit a week. Does anyone have any recommendations? I know my fitness pall is popular are there any others?

@FatGirlShrinking How amazing must that feel to see the scale under 200! Congratulations on all your hard work.

Good Morning 😊

@rivierliedje From my own experience and reviews I’ve read I think MFP has the edge on most others. The free version is adequate with no need to subscribe. Also if your into intermittent fasting the ZERO app is free. I also like to plot my progress via WEIGHT DIARY & HAPPY SCALE. Can you tell I like apps 😬

Today’s menu:-

Small omelette & home made roasted red pepper & Tomato soup. Left over roast lamb and loads of veggies. Home made onion & mushroom gravy. 20g Pistachios. Water, 1 coffee, tea.

Have a good day whatever you’re doing.

@rivierliedje, my dh likes yazzio. For a few years I paid for one called my food diary. I’ve got mfp on my iPhone.
Well ladies I’ve seen 140.3 this am and BMI 24.9.

Congrats on reaching normal weight BMI @fallfallfall!

Report
fallfallfall · 26/10/2020 17:48

Thanks @Trisolaris, I guess I’ll now aim for 130. Although the lowest I’ve been since 2000 was 136.
Like many was 112 when I had my first, never got below 115 after. Then came my second, never got below 119, then the third and my lowest weight was 122. The following years saw slow steady increases with my max being 189 in 2015 or so.
Not sure what to aim for but I don’t want to yo-yo anymore.

That's brilliant well done! My motivation and willpower have completely gone. My daughter keeps baking and I'm so cross with myself and my lack of willpower.

@Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese, visualize your goal. and take it one hour at a time and one meal at a time. cover up the baking or downright hide it in the pantry. you can do this.

Congratulations @fallfallfall.

Thank you for the suggestions.
I've weighed in this morning, have had porridge with rubarb this morning (from the garden), have leftovers for lunch (roast veg and potatoes) and will be home to make a good dinner (probably a homemade curry of some variety, possible a stir fry with quinoa).

@fallfallfall well done on moving into the healthy weight BMI!

Definitely feels like Autumn this week, I'm in the mood for slow cooked casseroles, mashed potato, lasagna, shepherds pie, roast dinners and all the other lovely comfort foods.

I made a batch of pork casserole on Sunday which I've been having for lunch but last night I caved and had steak and gravy pie with puff pastry lid. That was over half my daily calories in one big chunk. But it was bloody lovely Grin

I feel like I'm going to have to up the exercise to allow for more comfort foods because while I'll make sensible decisions most of the time if I try to deny myself a heap of mashed potato or a couple of slices of cheese on toast for the whole winter I'll end up giving up.

Morning all

Congratulations @fallfallfall. What a boost!

@Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese when I bake I only put 1/3-1/2 of the sugar stated in the recipe and it always works. Tastes nice. That would save calories if you want to have your daughter's baking.

Sometimes the calories are just worth it @FatGirlShrinking! We should make sure they always are though.

I decided to do pasta for dinner last nice as DD isn't keen and she was out. I made a tuna and sweetcorn lasagne and while DS2 wasn't keen DH said he preferred it to the meat one so I will make it again. Tonight we are having roast chicken. I've already made the mash and peeled a few potatoes for roasties for dh.

Workman is here making a lot of noise. I'm awaiting the GP ringing for DDs appointment and SunshineDog is confused as to why we haven't been out for a walk yet. I've been out for my run and did just over 7km. My weight is up 1.5lbs and while I am miffed I am assuming it is because I am a day or so late with my periodConfused. I just don't get the science. I'm assuming for two weeks my womb is prepping for a pregnancy and then it doesn't happen so I have a period. Surely that first two weeks is when the weight goes up and then during period week it gets less each day?? Am I missing something really obvious?

I'm feeling very fragile and shaky. The GP ringing is lovely but we spoke to another two weeks ago who was rubbish and ineffectual so I am worried today's will be annoyed we've taken another a lot for the same thing and I'm also really scared they won't be able to help dd at all. It is so hard on the phone. I just hope they use the landline as the mobile is useless.

Hope everyone is well and you all have a lovely day.

Good Morning Ladies

@fallfallfall well done on your progress and getting into a healthy BMI 👏⭐️🥇. You are so committed, it’s inspiring 😊

@SunshineCake well done on your 7k. That’s a great start to the day 👍. Hope all goes well for our dd and the GP phone consultation. Periods suck and the weight gain is hormonal based. You might also be building some muscle with your running 🏃‍♀️. Sending a hug 🤗❤️

Today’s menu is meditation omelette for lunch. Curry & cauli rice evening meal. Tea, 1 coffee and jug of lemon water. 20g pistachios.

I’m going to make a vegan gluten free recipe for a small sweet treat. GF oat and peanut butter based. I’ll work out all the macros and If any good I’ll share.

Have a good day!

thank you @FatGirlShrinking. dh was pretty nonchalant about the ordeal, and dd is away on an out of london holiday break, plus she has her hands full with her little family soooooo it was nice to have this group for mini support.

Wonderful news @fallfallfall. Slight blub there. Blush. Can we blame hormones and never speak of it again Smile.

Successful phone call for DD. She is being referred. Why the hell couldn't the other one refer her two weeks ago?Angry. Doggy has had her walk and I did an extra loop with her to make up for having to wait five hours. Looking forward to two clear days now then on Friday it is back to the vet for doggy and to the doctors for ds. I'm anxiously awaiting the reminder text about the time as I think it is too close to the vet appointment and dh will have to take our son. I daren't ring and ask as I've rung once already to check the date as my phone said I had to take him five times!

Does anyone know about this tablet Keto. I read it was on Dragons Den. Is it just a gimmick or does it work?

Report
MrsJonesAndMe · 27/10/2020 20:50

I wouldn't go down the route of tablets or teas or shakes @mutley1 but that's just me. Never heard of it, I'm afraid.

Fabulous news @fallfallfall

I'm glad they could help DD @SunshineCake but it is infuriating when you get a bad one. Sounds like Friday might be stressful - 2 appointments in one day is a pain.

Just a quick wave. Good luck for anyone jumping on the scales tomorrow.

I forgot it was WOW tomorrow. I expect I'll be the same as today and yesterday which is no loss but never mind.

I bought the powder stuff from Holland & Barrett and the second box is sat in the cupboard never to be drunk. Meant to be brilliant but I didn't lose anything.

Good Morning WOWzers 🤩

@FatGirlShrinking that’s awesome progress! Keep going ⭐️👏🥇

@SunshineCake what is your powder? I must have missed it.

Overall I’m the same this month so maintaining around 9st 2lbs which is bang on the BMI border between normal & overweight. It’s been a horrid month overall so I’ll take maintaining. Hopefully get back to losing in November.

Fingers crossed for your weigh ins.

Just did my w5 day2 run, really stepping up quickly now. 8min run, 5min walk, 8min run. Feeling very apprehensive about the 20 min run on Friday!

I also think i need some better shoes as just wearing a pair of sketchers trainers I've had for ever, any suggestions on good trainers, preferably water resistant for high arches that aren't too heavy or stiff?
