Hello & Welcome

Following on from the September thread...

This year is going by so quickly; before we know it festive movies will be on the TV and we'll be prepping for Christmas. I for one am going the extra mile to make it special for my beloved family and bugger C19 (must add we won’t be breaking the rule of 6!)

Every year part of my Christmas prep includes going all out to feel that bit healthier, fitter and slimmer. I’m happy to say this year I’m ahead of the game due to the people and support on these LOSE IT! threads. Thank you!

If you yourself want to feel healthier, fitter and a little bit more svelte, jump on board, there’s plenty of room. The ladies already here are supportive and knowledgeable!

This bit is copied from my post on here.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

Well done everyone! Haven’t managed a WOW today myself although I’ve somewhat fallen off the wagon this week but will get in an end of month number.

Trisolcat is just out of surgery and has apparently just been given kitty heroin at the vets, we are picking her up later and have a crate ready for her to go in for the first two days as she isn’t allowed to move much. They said all went well though which is good and maybe cat dad will chill now!

FatGirlShrinking · 28/10/2020 15:19

Good news @Trisolaris ! I've been around dogs and cats with 3 or even 2 legs (and a little wheelie add on) and they do remarkably well, don't even seem to notice anything's missing so hopefully yours will be back to antics very soon.

SunshineCake · 28/10/2020 15:42

Afternoon everyone

@TheRealHousewife the powder is BoomBod. I bought two boxes but I won't be using the second one. Maintaining is better than increasing Smile. Hope November is a happier month for you.

@FatGirlShrinking well done in the losses and for trainers, definitely get some new ones. Mine are ASICS and are light and comfortable. Not silly money either. Good luck for your next run. I found going from 8 minutes to 20 a lot easier than expected.

Hope @Trisolaris Cat settles back home okay. SunshineDog sends empathy vibes as she is due her check up on Friday.

I have lost this week thought not much. If I hadn't been weighing in between, aka after every run, I would think I had only lost 0.4lb but since I weigh more I feel I can claim a 2lb loss as I went up and now it is off. I did my 80th run today and did a little more than 7km. I scored 41 which is Elite so happy with that.

I've done lots of baking since home, cheese and ham muffins requested by dd and ds asked me to make focaccia. I also made blueberry oaty biscuits to use the berries up. I'm really tired, have cold hands and feet and looking forward to a good nights sleep.

CescaNicole · 28/10/2020 22:23

Hi Everyone

Another 1 lb lost today, which is 6 lb total loss for October! Very pleased with that. Will also do a final weigh on Saturday in case I manage to squeeze in another loss before the month closes.
I'm hoping there will be a November thread as I need to keep this momentum up!
I haven't managed any workouts this week but I have gone for a few walks with toddler and pram which I will count as exercise. My only chance to workout really is in the evenings and usually once the kids are in bed I can't must up the energy to do a workout Sad
I have been much better with drinking water this week though, and have seen an improvement in my skin!!

Well Done for everyone's losses! You're all inspiring me and keeping me going Smile

Puffalicious · 29/10/2020 10:22

Hi all my new, weight loss pals!

I've been soooooo good and I'm delighted to say that in my first week I've lost 3.5lbs. It's given me a real boost. Thank you for all your support.

Also good news, my pool has reopened. Limited times and pre booking required but exercise here I come!

SunshineCake · 29/10/2020 13:40

Brilliant news @CescaNicole and @Puffalicious. This group is a really lovely supportive one.

October 2018 195lbs.
Today 157.8
Loss only 37.2lbs so slow, especially as 21lbs was off quickly but still happy. Haven't seen 11 stone for years. Aiming for a ten now.

Ran 6.37km, best ever times, got elite result. Happy bunny.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 29/10/2020 13:43

Hi everyone. I'm back on it! Did exercise bike for 20 minutes this morning, cleaned my whole house too which must count as exercise! 5lb loss in total. I'm happy with that. 154lb down to 149lb. Target is 130.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 29/10/2020 13:44

Well done sunshine cake and on the run too. Fantastic. I miss running.

FatGirlShrinking · 29/10/2020 13:48

Well done @CescaNicole and @Puffalicious !

Thanks for the shoe recommendation @SunshineCake I've just discovered I get 50% off shoes at Runners Need through my work health insurance so think I'll pop in at the weekend and try some on.

I'd normally buy on line but I think my feet are less fat than they were as some of my shoes are feeling loose even with thick socks Grin

Puffalicious · 30/10/2020 00:19

Sunshinecake with slow loss it's proven to stay off- that's the ultimate goal. Well done you- inspiring as you've kept going.

rivierliedje · 30/10/2020 07:49

Congratulations everyone!
This week I have been using MFP and weighing every day which seems to keep me on the straight and narrow. Last weigh in for october tomorrow and I'm feeling positive about it.
I have a lovely friend who is very sporty (coaches various teams) who has sent me a whole list of different work outs to do with videos! Will be starting those this weekend.

FatGirlShrinking · 30/10/2020 08:03

Good morning all!

Well as of today I'm 'just' overweight.

BMI is 29.95 GrinGrinGrin

@FatGirlShrinking you’re doing great! Congrats on reducing your BMI! I’d second getting trainers to run in but don’t know enough to recommend any. Pre Covid I know you could go in specialist running shops and someone would look at your gait and the way you hold yourself. But I don’t know if they are still doing that during c19. @SunshineCake is a runner and might be able to advise.

Lovely to hear @Trisolaris ❤️

@CescaNicole great October result. 6lbs is awesome 👏⭐️🥇

Fabulous start @Puffalicious. You’ll notice a big difference with exercise added in too.

Awesome progress @SunshineCake. Your overall loss is very similar to my own, although I only maintained this month. ❤️👏🥇

@Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese keep going you’re doing great! Yes housework does count as exercise 😬

@rivierliedje I agree logging daily can help on keeping you on track. It’s a good tool. Good luck with your new work outs.

Silly me posted it was the last day 🤦‍♀️ . Crumbs I’m ahead of myself. I thought it was the 1st tomorrow. Sorry ladies.

Today’s menu is home made tomato soup. Crispy salmon, veg and salad later. I’ve planned for and allowed calorie wise to have home made donar lamb kebab on Sunday. Gluten free wraps/pittas, iceberg lettuce, toms, hot sauce. So looking forward to it for a change. We usually have a roast but OH wanted snacky things. Will be serving a big salad alongside.

Hi all

That's what I think @Puffalicious. If it comes off slowly and sensibly it will stay off. I decided I would go to weekly weigh ins then weighed myself after today's run Hmm. Ridiculous.

Well done @FatGirlShrinking! I remember feeling happy I was only over weight having not known I was obese. Every achievement is worth celebrating. I bought my trainers on line. DH did all the looking and I just chose the colour though I think I said I wasn't bothered so maybe not even that!

Shorter run today at 5.37 as I wasn't feeling it but it is still positive as not that long ago I would have forced myself to keep going. I feel tired and a bit emotional today but at least I did something. Have walked the dog and apart from taking ds to his appointment I plan a restful day.

Trisolaris · 30/10/2020 11:15

Morning all!

Trisolcat is out of the crate and now just confined to a couple rooms, she’s recovering very well Smile

@FatGirlShrinking I got a pair of running shoes a month or so ago from a running shop that did the gait analysis etc, just had to wear a mask etc. It was well worth it. I didn’t get 50% off but it was an early Xmas present from my dp.

I’ve been bad with food and exercise this week as I’ve been worried and sad about kitty but now she’s on the recovery path I’ll get back on track! Will post final numbers tomorrow.

Candacewasalwaysright · 30/10/2020 12:57

Hello everyone and well done to all this month!

Checking in today as I will be busy tomorrow. Not a single pound lost this month, which is quite disheartening but I'm pretty positive going forward. Although my weight has stayed the same, I have done some things I'm pleased with:

A) Got back into intermittent fasting - this had really fallen by the wayside having a DH WFH. I like my tea and coffee really milky, so even if I wasn't having breakfast much, I felt that having drinks with him in the morning was affecting the fasting.

B) identified that if I don't feel full at lunch, I will snack on mindless carbs and crap all afternoon. My brain is hardwired to love simple carbs and it's the thing I struggle with most. It adores chocolate and couldn't care less about crisps, though. My hunger definitely switches on after I start eating, I can fast until lunchtime quite happily even if I've exercised.

C) downloaded Les Mills on Demand. I've been working my way through some of the classes and am enjoying them. I struggle with the motivation to do them if I've not slept well, though. I'm definitely a morning exerciser and if I don't do it first thing, I won't at all.

I'm hoping that November will be onwards and upwards now that I've sorted my head out a bit. See you on the new thread!

Trisolaris · 31/10/2020 10:12

End of month stats!

Start of month 59.7kg
End of month 58.9kg

Target for November

Galvantula · 31/10/2020 10:26

Last weigh in for October was 57.5kg. 😊

Start of August was 60.3 kg.
September 59.2 kg.
October 58.4 kg.
(Very first MFP weigh in 6 years ago was 77 kg!)

So overall feeling happy with the steady progress. 👍 MFP still works for me to rein in the slide into over eating.

Galvantula · 31/10/2020 10:27

I think I was 62.5 when I joined this thread last year, forgot that bit.

TheRealHousewife · 01/11/2020 18:05

Hi ladies

Sorry I forgot to post yesterday. I didn’t lose in October unless you count the 4lbs that came and went several times .... accumulatively that would be about a stone 😬. Seriously, stress wise, I had a right time of it but have a grip now.

Intermittent fasting went well so at least my blood sugars/insulin will have been stable.

Here’s to seeing positive changes in November 😊

Good Morning All

Hope you all a great weekend considering the sobering update about the lockdown.

I for one will turn it to a positive to increase self care and increase my C19 firewall.

As of 17:30 yesterday I commenced a 36 hour fast. Sounds extreme but I’ve read around it and feel it would be beneficial to me to have a reset as I embrace November’s challenge. I’m not promoting or recommending it for anyone (you all know what works for you and as we know weight loss isn’t a one size fits all endeavour). I will end my fast Tuesday morning. Doesn’t sound to bad in theory. I’ll be having black coffee, tea with a small amount of ss milk, water and if I get desperate Miso paste in hot water. Nothing solid at all.

Right ... I’m off to get ready for my Zoom yoga 🧘‍♀️.

Wishing you all a great week whatever you’re doing!
