Hello & Welcome

Following on from the September thread...

This year is going by so quickly; before we know it festive movies will be on the TV and we'll be prepping for Christmas. I for one am going the extra mile to make it special for my beloved family and bugger C19 (must add we won’t be breaking the rule of 6!)

Every year part of my Christmas prep includes going all out to feel that bit healthier, fitter and slimmer. I’m happy to say this year I’m ahead of the game due to the people and support on these LOSE IT! threads. Thank you!

If you yourself want to feel healthier, fitter and a little bit more svelte, jump on board, there’s plenty of room. The ladies already here are supportive and knowledgeable!

This bit is copied from my post on here.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😀.

All sounds very confusing and worrying @SunshineCake, hoping that it is just repeat bloods to check and he'll be ok. Flowers

Trisolaris · 06/10/2020 12:49

Hi all

Sending positive thoughts to you and your ds @SunshineCake

Weight down to 58.8kg today which I’m very pleased with.

Tricat is not so happy as she has to wear a cone of shame for two weeks to protect her paw - they think she had an abscess in it which caused the high temp and she then attacked it badly so it’s a bloody mess (literally!) She’s being a little trooper though, she absolutely hates it but she still is coming for lots of cuddles and reassurance and while she squirms when we put it on she never scratches us. Poor little 🐱 Our vets are also getting a box of (non cat) biscuits and a card for their amazing care of her!

SunshineCake · 06/10/2020 13:08

Thanks everyone re my son. He is okay today, went to sleep 15 minutes earlier as he said he will have to do it gradually and I am happy with that.

I'm 1.6lb down from Wednesday, my lightest in years and looking forward to running tomorrow though I'm considering going tonight with dh.

I have made honey and spice cake for dh, sweet and sour chicken for dh and the kids dinner, pasta and chicken salad with broccoli for my dinner, done lots of cleaning, washing and vacuuming and just had chicken salad for lunch. May take doggy out but tbh I think she would be just as happy with a cuddle with me as I've been busy all morning. She has popped in to see if I have finished yet, periodically.

Have a good afternoon everyone.

MrsJonesAndMe · 06/10/2020 13:15

Sounds like you've been keeping busy @SunshineCake which is often good to do if the mind is whirring. Hope doggy cuddles help.

Poor cat @Trisolaris. I'm sure the vets will appreciate a token of appreciation.

Struggling here, busy week with work 5 days, everywhere muddy and a course on Saturday and then another 6 hours of online study to fit in, so not sure when I will get anything done, but it needs doing!

Take care all

SunshineCake · 06/10/2020 16:21

Hope your cat is soon back purring *@Trisolaris.

I have done loads, *@MrsJonesAndMe** and now I'm shattered with a headache. I had a small drink of coke earlier so it might be that. I used to drink loads of it and rarely buy it now. We got it last week with a takeaway and I have decided I won't drink it again. I felt warm earlier but my temperature is normal. Have coughed a couple of times but not persistently. It's not new either as been a few days.

Try and not do too much *@MrsJonesAndMe**!

fallfallfall · 06/10/2020 20:06

ahhhh kitty will be fine in a few days, @Trisolaris, keep up the good work. the vet clinic will enjoy the treats i'm sure.
well done @SunshineCake :) new milestones are fun! and busy!! oh wow.
@MrsJonesAndMe, hats off to you with so much going on. keep poking along it will come together.
nothing to report here. 3 week plateau will try and focus on the food choices because i'm doing okay exercise wise.

SunshineCake · 06/10/2020 20:29

Reporting in after my first run with dh. It didn't go to plan as I had to stop to retire my laces twice so we didn't go very far together but never mind, my first run since Wednesday and speed wise I did pretty good.

Coughing more but hoping just because of the run though it doesn't normally make me cough and I have coughed a bit today.

FatGirlShrinking · 07/10/2020 07:28

WOW update

Start of this weight loss journey was 233lb, BMI 35.4
30/09/2020 - 207lb, BMI 31.5
07/10/2020 - 205lb, BMI 31.2

Loss this week - 2 lb
Loss this month - 2lb
Total loss since starting - 28lb

SunshineCake · 07/10/2020 07:41

That is great *@FatGirlShrinking Star.

I know I was a pound under 14 stone / 195lbs, two years ago but I count from when I started running in May.

May 9th. 176lbs
June 4th 173.4lbs.
July 4th 172lbs.
August 8th 169lbs.
September 8th. 163.8lbs
Oct 7 160.2lbs

So a loss of 15.8lbs.

I'm happy. Feel a bit embarrassed it is so slow, though August to September was great, but I am sure with me, slow means it is staying off.

Galvantula · 07/10/2020 09:22

Morning. I didn't WOW but was exactly 58kg yesterday so happy with that.

Also v slow here sunshine, but that does feel more sustainable as we're slowly developing these better habits.

Trisolaris · 07/10/2020 09:31

So here is my WOW!

07/10 58.9kg

06/09 59.8kg

07/08 60.1kg

07/07 61.3kg

08/06 62.3kg

24/05 63.6kg

Well done @FatGirlShrinking and @SunshineCake!

Sunshine, I’m shrinking way slower than you but we are all different sizes and so will need to go at our own paces. It’s nothing to be embarrassed at. I know I personally couldn’t lose it any faster in a healthy way and it’s all about being sustainable but for those who can that’s great for them too as one step closer to their goal!

SunshineCake · 07/10/2020 10:21

I was thinking about me thinking I am slow @Galvantula and @Trisolaris and it could be because most days I have a couple of squares of chocolate or a biscuit and I would rather still have those small treats and lose weight slower. I am getting fitter as I am running, I am fasting so just eating in a window from 12.40 - 6pm instead of three meals or two meals and then a snack at 8.30pm just because so all positive.

I don't feel great today. I have a cold, sore throat, have coughed twice and when I've finished my honey and lemon I'll do my temperature. I think it is just a cold and I'm worried now as due my flu jab soon and if I tell them I've had a cough they won't let me in even though I'm certain it isn't covid.

Oh that’s brilliant loss!

I’m only just started as I noticed my BMI was in the overweight category. Hoping to loose about a stone over the next 4-5 months.

Anyone have any particular easy healthy meals they’ve found good while eating healthier

FatGirlShrinking · 07/10/2020 12:54

@AIMD my go to lunch is a mix of whichever of these I have in the fridge - greenbeans, baby corn, mushrooms, sugar snap peas

I put them in a bowl with a little water, cover with cling film then blitz in the microwave for 3 minutes.

Then chop some spring onions and 3 slices of wafer thin ham or chicken.

Drain the veg, add in the onions and meat along with a teaspoon of real butter and seasoning, I like lots of black pepper and a bit of salt.

Give it another 30 seconds to 1 minute in the microwave to melt the butter then stir.

It's filling, really tasty and comes in way under 200 cals.

Thanks that’s a brilliant idea! Thanks I’ll give that a try

Trisolaris · 07/10/2020 13:01

@AIMD

Some of my favourites are:

Mary Berry’s butternut squash soup - I add a handful of red lentils

Vegetarian lasagne made with loads of Mediterranean veg and lentils, can use the same mix for bolognese without the cheese sauce

For the day after exercise: purition protein smoothie made with oat milk

All of these are pretty low cal/carb with out feeling like I’m restricting myself - I’m veggie in case you hadn’t worked that out!

Trisolaris · 07/10/2020 13:04

The lasagne takes longer but I make a massive batch and freeze one - the other feeds me and dp for a meal a day for 3-4 days , then cook the other in 2-3weeks

fallfallfall · 07/10/2020 16:10

Wednesday’s are an early start at the market so I’ll weigh in tomorrow but can’t fathom why it would drop since it hasn’t in weeks...
Soups are my go to low cal lunches. I’ve got a nice minestrone and yellow split pea cooked and frozen up in 2 person portions.
I’ll be making tomato very soon as I’ll have to rip out my basil and tomato plants.

Foreverlexicon · 08/10/2020 05:51

Morning all waves

I needed to take a bit of a break and reset my head towards food. Calorie counting over the summer made me far too obsessive.

I haven’t weighed since end of August although I might check in soon. But I just want to focus on eating a bit healthier overall and reporting in the group is a good way to do that. I don’t think I’ve gained any weight as my clothes are fitting the same. Ideally I’d like to lose a bit in the next 2 months ready for Christmas!

TheRealHousewife · 08/10/2020 09:12

Good Morning All

@SunshineCake hope you soon feel better!

I’m laid low with a flare up of one of my autoimmune conditions. In quite a bit of discomfort and feel generally mah.

I’ll probably not post the rest of the week but I’m sending positive thoughts to you all. I’ll try and keep reading to keep up with you all.

Take care.

I've rather spectacularly fallen off the wagon. It was my birthday last week and we had a birthday tea, and now I've turned into a leftovers eating machine. The worst thing is I have apparently put half a stone on between Saturday morning and Monday! How?! I've spent a month losing it and it goes back on in 3 days! I know water weight is a couple of kilos but...argh!

Need to find my willpower again. Today is another day. I Will Not Go Near The Canteen's Chips. Repeat...

FatGirlShrinking · 08/10/2020 09:43

@moonbells you haven't put on half a stone in 3 days, but you may have upped your salt intake causing you to retain water.

Take a few days to reduce salt and massively up your water drinking then weigh again and see where you're at.

AIMD · 08/10/2020 10:21

@Trisolaris thanks for those suggestions. I love a lasagne and made a veg one a while ago so the suggestion to bulk make and freeze is a good one.

Unfortunately my daughter doesn’t eat that wide a variety of food so I think I end up eating the same stuff over and over with only a few days of different meals.

SunshineCake · 08/10/2020 12:05

Hi everyone

Thanks *@TheRealHousewife. I feel better than yesterday but not 100%. I'm taking it easier today. Have prepped lunch and dinner, after I've eaten I'll do the ironing and then I just need to pick the kids up. Probably won't go out again with the dog.

Hi *@Foreverlexicon. I've been wondering how you are.

I went to sleep a bit earlier then slept in until 7 as dh alarm didn't go off. I need more sleep. Dh and I are going up to bed earlier these days as we are so tired.

FatGirlShrinking · 08/10/2020 14:14

Does anyone know how primark sizing compares to places like Dorothy Perkins or next. I've been sized out of primark for a long time only able to get the 2xl stretchy stuff like pjs. Bought a pair of size 18 jeans there yesterday and I can do them up but their not the most flattering shape on me so want to look elsewhere but don't know if I should go for 18 or 20 or smaller?
