Hello & Welcome

Following on from the September thread...

This year is going by so quickly; before we know it festive movies will be on the TV and we'll be prepping for Christmas. I for one am going the extra mile to make it special for my beloved family and bugger C19 (must add we won’t be breaking the rule of 6!)

Every year part of my Christmas prep includes going all out to feel that bit healthier, fitter and slimmer. I’m happy to say this year I’m ahead of the game due to the people and support on these LOSE IT! threads. Thank you!

If you yourself want to feel healthier, fitter and a little bit more svelte, jump on board, there’s plenty of room. The ladies already here are supportive and knowledgeable!

This bit is copied from my post on here.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

Hi, I need to get the covid stone off (I think that's what it's being called). I am going to do a food diary, walk more, do some online exercise classes (that I pay for but I'm not using Blush), also need to try not to snack.

Hi & welcome @throwingawaymyshot. Yes I’ve heard it called the Covid Stone too. Not snacking is a good idea. If you incorporate protein into your meals such as eggs at breakfast and fish, meat, chicken into your main meals it’ll help keep you satiated and then your less likely to snack. Also keeping well hydrated helps.

@salad49 Another link for you.

I don’t know, snacking works for me actually. It’s just how I’ve always been. I can go a whole day without sitting down to a “proper meal” but grazing all day. This is why MFP is the only trick that has ever worked for me. Controlling what I eat and logging everything but nothing is off limits. It might not be the healthiest approach but it’s what I can cope with. Three healthy meals and no snacks would send me into a panic!

I've been doing slimming world but have kind of fallen by the wayside. If I cut out chocolate, I will only crave it more so I've been trying to go for lower syn options eg tiny toblerones are only 1.5 syns each! But can't blooming find them anywhere anymore. Plus I'm awaiting tests as to why I keep fainting. I feel dizzy and light hearted today :( so have had a bit of chocolate for blood sugar reasons and trying not to exercise today either just in case I faint. ha ha @TheNewLook I'm obsessed with it.

Yes, I agree about mfp. Eat anything but count everything. No omitting food groups, (chocolate is a food group, yes?) then you don't feel you're depriving yourself. Now I'm back in the groove as it were, I find myself having to go raid the fridge at 9pm to make up my calories for the day... yet not hungry.

Another tip for mfp folk - log before you eat it, just in case you accidentally forget and then go over. I forgot to log something the other day and to my horror was 200 over... for one sausage! But don't beat yourself up. Tomorrow is always another day.

Hi everyone,

Welcome newcomers! 🙋🏻‍♀️

I’ve had a stressful few days with tricat who is very poorly. She’s at the vets again for fluids and antibiotics for the third day in a row with a high temp. Poor little 🐱

In other news I’ve had a sudden drop down to 59.3kg today. I don’t know whether my body is suddenly used to the exercise or it’s the cat stress but either way after plateauing for a month I’ll take it!

Hi @Trisolaris sorry to hear about Trisolcat, I hope they recover quickly! Great news on your numbers 👍

@TheNewLook I agree that people need to do what they know works for them, that’s the premise of these threads. It’s acknowledged that weight loss and fitness isn’t a one size fits all 😊

I need a hug

Had to take DS2 to hospital so had to go a quick low key goodbye to DS1 who has gone back to uni today. DS2 had lots of tests and all was okay but it will be a week before we know the blood test results. I don't get why the lab has the results in two hours but I have to wait a week. I have had chest pains all day but I think it is anxiety about the boys.

Just eaten loads of chocolate but that is just what it is. I'm tired, emotional, worried and have a headache as well.

Will read through in a bit.

Thank you *@fallfallfall. I'm just so tired and missing ds1 already and feel sad that ds2 has been worrying and I didn't know. Just saw ds2 and he said he is okay.

@SunshineCakebeing tired never helps.
what led up to the blood tests? if you mentioned it earlier just direct me to the post and i'll read up. i just hadn't spotted anything about the young fellow.
i saw a dr yesterday, first time in years for a pre op check up (ankle hardware removal scheduled for nov 18).
he was an arrogant dick.

Hi everyone,
Please can I join? I am determined to lose a stone and a bit of post baby weight. I was doing quite well and then broke my arm 6 weeks ago so it meant no exercising and comfort eating Blush. I'm freshly out of plaster as of yesterday and determined to get going. I finding tracking my calories, 10k steps a day really works.
Thanks Smile

welcome @Flirtydove, i fell and broke both ankles at the end of march. i too certainly know about the 6 week wait and weight.

SunshineCake · 01/10/2020 18:20

*@fallfallfall I may not have said about ds2 being poorly until today. I think the blood tests are to get a base line and to rule out anything major rather then the doctor thinking there is anything wrong but then she seemed to contradict herself so I don't know. It was also due to dh being ill in February too I think.

Sorry the doctor was a dick.

@Flirtydove, fab recovery huge incentive to loose weight and improve fitness.
Leslie Sansone videos are my miracle cure all ;). Averaging 5-7 miles a day of fitness videos plus the occasional walk around the block.
Starting the month at 143.5(I’m retaining water, my gluts are sore) saw 142.5 several times last month aiming for 130-135 eventually. Lost 5.8 lbs last month.
@SunshineCake, as you know past experiences affect our responses. Hopefully you hear back sooner than 2 weeks.

Thankyou @TheRealHousewife for those links, both really helpful. I think it must have been the kellymom one that I got needing to eat 1800 calories from, though I'm sure now DD is on solids and only having 3 breastfeeds a day I would probably be fine to stay at the lower end of the guidelines. Like you said though, it's better to focus on making sure what I'm eating is right and not worrying too much about the calories for now. I do tend to eat pretty healthy main meals anyway, it's the (excessive) snacking that has been my downfall this time.

To be honest I never thought to bring it up with my health visitor, though I haven't actually seen or spoke to her since DD was about 8 weeks old. I will see how I get on for the next few weeks and if I need some more advice I will give her a call.

Good Morning All & welcome to @Flirtydove. Happy to have you join us. Sorry to hear about your arm ... are you happy to share how you did it?; but NO pressure. Share as much or as little as you are comfortable with. Touch wood I’ve never broke a limb bone par se but my cervical spine suffered a spontaneous break. That was a bit hairy to say the least.

Morning all, I’ve been up half the night with the cat (split shifts with dp). She’s got a cannula in her paw which she keeps trying to rip out and a suspected abscess in the other which she is trying to lick bloody so we decided she needed over monitoring after the damage she did to it in less than 5 minutes yesterday evening.

Half a bar of Tony’s chocolonely may also have disappeared overnight!
