Hello & Welcome

Following on from the September thread...

This year is going by so quickly; before we know it festive movies will be on the TV and we'll be prepping for Christmas. I for one am going the extra mile to make it special for my beloved family and bugger C19 (must add we won’t be breaking the rule of 6!)

Every year part of my Christmas prep includes going all out to feel that bit healthier, fitter and slimmer. I’m happy to say this year I’m ahead of the game due to the people and support on these LOSE IT! threads. Thank you!

If you yourself want to feel healthier, fitter and a little bit more svelte, jump on board, there’s plenty of room. The ladies already here are supportive and knowledgeable!

This bit is copied from my post on here.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😀.

Oops forgot WOW again .

I am still at 58kg, pretty pleased with that. I've never managed to go lower than this, always ended up comfort eating again and putting on 3 or 4kg 🤦🤦

Feeling more confident about it this time. 💪

Quick wave to everyone 👋, got to get back to work. 😏

SunshineCake · 22/10/2020 14:11

Everyone is doing really well as we are all trying. Hopefully we will all be rewarded at our next weigh ins.

I've done 4/4 runs this week so very pleased and proud.

Hello to @TheRealHousewife @Foreverlexicon @MrsJonesAndMe @Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese @Candacewasalwaysright @LaceyMermaid and everyone else who has joined in our thread.

TheRealHousewife · 22/10/2020 15:52

Hi @SunshineCake and everyone. @SunshineCake thank you for holding the thread fort 👏❤️🙏🥇⭐️.

Sorry I’m MIA but I’m quite down in the dumps. I keep picking iPad up to log in here but then I don’t as I don’t feel I can add any value at the moment. I think it’s all C19 related. Plus we’ve had a massive disappointment (in reality that’s all it is but it’s hit hard). My autoimmune conditions seem to be in overdrive (stress related I’m sure) and I’m actively avoiding the GP as only telephone consults on offer. Anyways enough of my moaning.

Sending positive vibes to you all and I’ll start thinking about putting November thread together if that’s what people would like (I know I would as it’s the only constant at present).

❤️❤️❤️

Lovely to see you @TheRealHousewife and you add value even if it is just to say hello. You are our figurehead and we are happy for all your support and advice. I am sorry you have been having a difficult time. I had a few days where I was scared about my chest pain but it seems better now I've started doing my inhaler before I run. No asthma issues so not sure what is going on.

I would like a November thread and I'm sure many others would too. Funnily enough I was thinking about a new thread title this morning.

Always here to listen, don't be a stranger @TheRealHousewife.

fallfallfall · 22/10/2020 18:40

@TheRealHousewife i'm happy to see you've popped on.
positive thoughts coming your way for some stress to be alleviated.
in my little world C19 isn't a thing, easy when you live as remotely as i do, then there is the market which falls under agricultural and food related produce so not affected much (we provide hand sanitizer, wear masks if necessary, and offer contactless payment).
setback well i did end up with a boob biopsy yesterday when i initially went for a routine/repeat breast ultrasound.
i'll be parking any negative thoughts on that or the C19 risk my family are experiencing on the back burner so to speak.
knit cook and for the next 48 hours lay low on exercise.

SunshineCake · 22/10/2020 19:05

delete and chose as necessary @fallfallfall. Hope all is well and make the most of a couple of days taking it easy.

fallfallfall · 22/10/2020 19:19

@SunshineCake DH took me out to one of my fave restaurants for a lovely italian meal. the cook/chief is actually my hairdresser who started a little place. the Cesar salad was good with some really interesting takes on bacon (meat cut so thin it was like onionskin) and croutons (which i don't think were bread at all). then a bit of pizza (took home leftovers for lunch today) and tiramisu...which i ordered very early as once she ran out and i noticed people coming in and was afraid...very afraid!

SunshineCake · 22/10/2020 19:23

That sounds a lovely meal @fallfallfall. I enjoyed the dinner I just had but I forgot and are a few of the crispy potatoes and now have bad tummy pain Sad. First time in ages I have had a reaction.

fallfallfall · 22/10/2020 19:25

🙁 I hope that passes quickly @SunshineCake

SunshineCake · 22/10/2020 19:55

Thank you. It usually is quite a while and is frustrating as there is nothing I can do to make it better.

Puffalicious · 22/10/2020 20:00

Hi all, I'm one of the newbies.

After having that awful moment of looking in the mirror on holidays i came home full of vim and vigour to eat healthily. Old scales seemed unreliable so i bought new, digital scales yesterday. I'm completely devastated that I'm far heavier than I thought I would be. I thought I'd be about 2 stone over what I like to be at (pre 3rd DC at 40- which has really mocked up my weight as I has stayed roughly the same after DC 2 for 5 years). But it's so much worse- 3 stone more than I used to sit at and I'm in the obese category. I could weep and weep.

It's a actually 5 stones more than I was at my lightest (pre DC in my wild 20s) which is ridiculous.

I'm 194 pounds and only 5 foot 5 so seriously overweight. Blush

I've been brilliant all week and know it's just nose to the grind stone but it seems insurmountable at the moment.

SunshineCake · 22/10/2020 20:10

It does sound hard but you have to start somewhere and once you lose that first pound it is all worth it, @Puffalicious. Two years ago I was obese but now I am just overweight. You want to do this and that is a really big part of achieving the weight loss you want. Good luck.

FatGirlShrinking · 22/10/2020 20:25

@Puffalicious it is not that bad and you can fix it. At 5ft 5 you need to lose 15 lb to get out of Obese. You can do that!

Your TDEE is 1879 calories, so if you eat that many you will stay the same. If you eat less you will lose weight, 500 less a day will give you a 1lb loss per week.

@TheRealHousewife sorry you're having a rotten time, I hope things improve for you soon, if you need somewhere to vent we're right here ready and waiting.

@fallfallfall I hope the biopsy gives you good results!

@SunshineCake well done on your running, you're doing fantastic. I'm scared of C25K next week as run 3 is 20 mins of solid jogging Shock

Puffalicious · 22/10/2020 21:45

Thank you so much Sunshine cake it's great to have the support.

Yup Fatshrinkinggirl I can do it. Thanks a million for the stats. I've been sticking to 1200 a day, so hopefully it'll come off. This time next year I'll be a different woman!

TheRealHousewife · 23/10/2020 08:08

Good Morning Ladies

Thank you @SunshineCake, you’re a star ⭐️. Sorry to hear about your tummy pain! Hope it quickly goes. We’re the potatoes from frozen or fresh. Frozen sometimes contain gluten.

@fallfallfall sending flowers 💐 and warmest wishes. Your meal sounds delicious 😋.

@FatGirlShrinking thank you for your kind words. I’ve pulled on my Big Bridget Pants and just getting on with things. Including being more attentive on here.

@Puffalicious welcome and we’ll done on making a start. Great supportive ladies on here.

Today’s menu is omelette with mushrooms & tomato side. Curry and cauli rice later. Jug of water, tea and 1 coffee. I’ve also started having a small amount of pistachio nuts after evening meal as I’ve read they aid sleep. Blummin expensive but do seem to help. Who cares if it’s a placebo effect 😬

Have a successful day and take time for self care. So important.

FatGirlShrinking · 23/10/2020 08:16

@TheRealHousewife if you have a Lidl near you they sell bags of nuts much cheaper than other supermarkets and our local also does them in the veg section as weigh your own.

TheRealHousewife · 23/10/2020 09:17

Thank you for the tip @FatGirlShrinking 👍

SunshineCake · 23/10/2020 11:46

Hi all

Don't be scared @FatGirlShrinking. You can do this! I have run every day this week Shock. I have decided to run less distance to save my knees a bit and also means I have managed five days. I am mixing up the route to make it more interesting and also have no issue changing my mind about the length if I feel I need to head for home. This is huge as I would feel a failure if I didn't run further or at least equal the last run each time. I'm less fussed about speed too but have to admit I was happy today when I saw my stats. I thought I had done one km really slowly so happy to see just my eyes letting me down Grin.

@TheRealHousewife the potatoes were Asda's ready prepared crispy slices and it has happened before so won't be having them again.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 23/10/2020 13:36

Please send me stay strong vibes. We have quality street and I know if I have one I will have about ten!

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 23/10/2020 13:47

Sorry I've not caught up with all other comments

fallfallfall · 23/10/2020 14:13

@Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese put a post it note on the box or tin with your goal weight or inspirational quote.
You can do this

SunshineCake · 23/10/2020 14:18
SunshineCake · 23/10/2020 14:18

How are you feeling today @fallfallfall?

FatGirlShrinking · 23/10/2020 15:06

Arghhh

Stood on the scales this morning and it was 200. I was staring at the little screen trying to will it to flick to 199 but the bloody thing stayed on 200.

Been on a good walk today, with loud music and marching briskly, mainly because my boss is a total shithead who seems to be on a concerted drive to send me absolutely barmy. He sent me 20 emails with demands for extra work between 7pm last night and 11am this morning. So I was stomping along while imaging screaming at or punching him.

Had a fried egg and some mushrooms for breakfast and homemade pumpkin soup for lunch, going to make sure I have a good dinner and lots of water in the hopes I can flick the scale below 200 tomorrow morning.

Trisolaris · 23/10/2020 15:13

@FatGirlShrinking Just think of it as extra incentive for your running! It will get you through that 20 min jog no trouble as you are so close!

Trisolcat’s surgery was put back til next week as our vet is on leave and we didn’t want a locum.

Planning a run tonight!
