Hello & Welcome

Following on from the September thread...

This year is going by so quickly; before we know it festive movies will be on the TV and we'll be prepping for Christmas. I for one am going the extra mile to make it special for my beloved family and bugger C19 (must add we won’t be breaking the rule of 6!)

Every year part of my Christmas prep includes going all out to feel that bit healthier, fitter and slimmer. I’m happy to say this year I’m ahead of the game due to the people and support on these LOSE IT! threads. Thank you!

If you yourself want to feel healthier, fitter and a little bit more svelte, jump on board, there’s plenty of room. The ladies already here are supportive and knowledgeable!

This bit is copied from my post on here.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

Hey everyone, I know we’re halfway through October but can I join?

Need a bit of online support and motivation as very few people in the real world sort of “get it”...

I’m 5’5” 11st (70kg) and I want to lose 2st. I’m carrying a lot around my hips bum and thighs as that’s where it collected during my pregnancy last year...and it’s proving a real pain to shift!

I’m going to the gym about 5 times a week, mixture of HIIT and strength training and classes such as body pump and Aqua.

When did you start seeing a change? I can’t wait for the day my clothes feel a little roomier and everything doesn’t automatically cling to my hips Grin

SunshineCake · 15/10/2020 11:28

Welcome, @RomanMum. Everyone is welcome. I hope we can help and support you.

I'm just back from my run and the meanie scales teased me with a loss and then settled back at the same I've been for a few days.

SunshineCake · 15/10/2020 11:35

Hi @mamaatthegym. I started seeing weight coming off once I'd been running a while and doing IF. I've tweaked it now and from eating 12.30-8.30 and running every other day I now eat 12.30/45 - 6pm and I've run Monday, Tuesday, Thursday this week and cycled 25km on the bike yesterday.

mamaatthegym · 15/10/2020 21:46

Thanks @SunshineCake how long have you been doing IF? I’ve heard of it but never tried. I really like breakfast so I think I’d struggle Blush

I had a pumpkin spice latte and a tuna melt in Starbucks today...but did manage to take DD swimming (she’s 10 months so I have to use a lot of energy swishing her around in the pool!) so that was my exercise Grin back to the gym tomorrow!

SunshineCake · 15/10/2020 22:06

I've been fasting for a few months now.

FatGirlShrinking · 15/10/2020 22:36

Good evening all, today I did week 3 day 2 of c25K which was fun.

I have also discovered options chocolate orange flavour which is my new favourite hot drink and is very good at satisfying the chocolate need for only 40 cals.

Welcome to the newcomers.

I have chosen the MyFitnessPal and reduced carb route for weight loss. I've also been doing 3 x 30 min workouts a week minimum, a combo of c25K, couch to fitness (our parks website) and going to the gym.

So far I've lost 30 lbs since beginning of August doing this, started at 233lb and now at 203lb (size 22-18). Managing 2lb a week average with the occasional dip and surge. Hoping to make it to 197lb by the end of this month as that will free me from the 'obese' title.

SunshineCake · 16/10/2020 07:22

You have done so well @FatGirlShrinkingStar.

mamaatthegym · 16/10/2020 10:33

Sounds amazing @FatGirlShrinking I think you’ll smash it by the end of the month!

Aurorie11 · 16/10/2020 10:43

2lbs off this week, total of 16lbs. Still 19lbs to not be obese Hmm

FatGirlShrinking · 16/10/2020 12:13

Oooooohhhh scales said 202lb this morning, come on, so close to being under 200lb. That will just be a huge psychological boost once I swap the 2 for a 1.

SunshineCake · 16/10/2020 14:28

One pound off this morning of the ten I need to lose to no longer be overweight. Very happy. Lowest I have been since 2002.

This morning I took DS2 to school then walked the dog for almost 70 minutes, ran to the supermarket (for the first time ever I didn't get good or very good. I got eliteGrinShock), walked back which took 32 minutes then did 25 minutes on the bike. Feel great Smile.

@Aurorie11 a weekly loss of 2lbs is fabulous!

Won't be long @FatGirlShrinking and you'll be seeing 1XX. Remember when I dropped to the next stone and didn't have my glasses on so thought I'd put a stone in in about two days ?Shock.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 16/10/2020 14:54

Can I join ? 11stone 5ft 1. It's just going up and up!

Candacewasalwaysright · 16/10/2020 17:26

Hi @Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese I'm sure you're very welcome here, I got a nice reception!

Well done to everyone. I've lost what I put on last week, so I'm happy with that.

Tonight I will be having something chocolatey - Bake off drops on a Friday here on Netflix (moved from U.K. to US) and as the world is so small and dire at the moment, we've decided to try and make something each week to match the theme and cheer us up a little.

Have been out for a walk so far today, it's a cold but sunny day and the trees are so beautiful right now, and will be outside doing some autumn clean up later, so that should burn some calories.

SunshineCake · 16/10/2020 18:38

Welcome @Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese. Are you planning exercise and fasting or cutting out things or something else ?

Enjoy your baking, @Candacewasalwaysright and hope you has a successful leaf tidy.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 16/10/2020 19:04

Meant to be low carb and no sugar but going to calorie count too. And exercise when I can. Have gained a stone in the past year!

mamaatthegym · 16/10/2020 22:18

I love baking on bake off night as well @Candacewasalwaysright Grin just makes you feel all jolly and it’s a nice treat!

FatGirlShrinking · 17/10/2020 14:12

Welcome @Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese and @Candacewasalwaysright !

NSV today, I'm stealing my husbands coat, he never wears it no matter how cold it gets and mine is officially too baggy to wear now (size 24 I bought a couple of years ago). Tried his on and it does up so it's mine until I size down again and am forced to buy a new one.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 17/10/2020 14:17

I weighed myself earlier and am 10st 9 not 11stone so that was a pleasant and encouraging surprise!

SunshineCake · 17/10/2020 16:33

Great win @FatGirlShrinking and what a lovely surprise @Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese.

I was thinking this morning that 10 something on the scales is realistically possible now Shock.

FatGirlShrinking · 17/10/2020 17:07

@SunshineCake 10 stone something is definitely achievable! You've lost loads both weight and inches already.

SunshineCake · 17/10/2020 18:43

I measured yesterday and don't seem to have lost any inches since I lost some but at least the scales are being positive for me Grin.

Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese · 17/10/2020 19:05

Well done! I've had 1063 calories today. Quite a lot of it on a huge steak!

MrsJonesAndMe · 17/10/2020 19:45

Hi all, just a quick check in to say still alive Wink Well done to the good work and hi to the newbies Smile

SunshineCake · 17/10/2020 21:47

Great achievement @MrsJonesAndMe Grin.

MrsJonesAndMe · 17/10/2020 22:05

Well it's 2020 after all. A miracle to have made it this far!
