Hello & Welcome

Following on from the September thread...

This year is going by so quickly; before we know it festive movies will be on the TV and we'll be prepping for Christmas. I for one am going the extra mile to make it special for my beloved family and bugger C19 (must add we won’t be breaking the rule of 6!)

Every year part of my Christmas prep includes going all out to feel that bit healthier, fitter and slimmer. I’m happy to say this year I’m ahead of the game due to the people and support on these LOSE IT! threads. Thank you!

If you yourself want to feel healthier, fitter and a little bit more svelte, jump on board, there’s plenty of room. The ladies already here are supportive and knowledgeable!

This bit is copied from my post on here.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

I'm exactly the same with chocolates- if I have one I'll have 12! My method is to avoid altogether. The chips on DC/ DHs plates tonight were soooooo tempting, but I stuck to my grilled cod and peas. V proud of myself.

SunshineCake · 23/10/2020 19:24

Well done @Puffalicious. I am proud of you too!

I'm annoyed as I've been thinking about my chocolate chip cookies in the cupboard for three days and I haven't been hungry after meal to have any Shock. Before, I'd have eaten them anyway.

TheRealHousewife · 23/10/2020 19:47

@Puffalicious @SunshineCake great resolve you’ve both shown there! Mainly I’m in the totally avoid camp in regards to ice cream, milk chocolate, gluten free cakes as they call my name from the cupboard. The 70% chocolate stuff is easier to resist and I can be satisfied with just a couple of squares.

SunshineCake · 23/10/2020 19:54

Confession. Since I posted I have eaten three cookies. Not mad at myself which is progress. Usually I'd hate myself. I was hungry so thought I might as well have something I'd enjoy that is a treat.

FatGirlShrinking · 23/10/2020 20:33

For anyone fancying treats but not mega calories the Fibre One chocolate fudge brownies are nice, some of the supermarkets do own brand versions and the Morrison's lemon bars are nice too.

Not as good as a mega slice of homemade fudge brownie with lots of extras thrown in but for 87 cals it fills a need.

Trisolaris · 23/10/2020 20:39

I did my run - 30 mins and 4.92k. I am determined to get up to 5k next time.

My sweet treats have come care of the skinny bakery - lots of low sugar and low cal version of cakey things you can order online. They hit the spot pretty well!

FatGirlShrinking · 23/10/2020 20:45

Oooooooo @Trisolaris just went to The Skinny Bakery website, what have you tried and what was the best thing? Oh also how small are they, I know they'll be small, that's how they save calories but are we talking, the size of a quality street, half a normal cupcake or just a smidge smaller than a normal cupcake?

Trisolaris · 23/10/2020 21:16

@FatGirlShrinking I’d say they are like mini brownies or whatever you choose so the entire ‘portion’ together adds up to the size of a normal good size dessert if that makes sense? But is still lower cal but not so much it’s entirely tasteless.

I didn’t really like the white chocolate doughnuts but all the regular chocolatey things have been good that I’ve had and I had one of the cookie type things and they were amazing!

Trisolaris · 23/10/2020 21:19

Choccy meringue cookies - that’s the one I loved!

SunshineCake · 24/10/2020 07:46

Well done on your run @Trisolaris. I'm sure next time you'll do 5km.

Grin.

FatGirlShrinking · 24/10/2020 08:06

Look look look, eek!

Hurray!!!! Well done Star

Trisolaris · 24/10/2020 11:52

Yay! Go you @FatGirlShrinking! You have worked so hard for this!

Puffalicious · 24/10/2020 13:02

Well done Fatshrinkinggirl

And Sunshine Cake we all need a treat. As long as those cookies were delicious it's grand- nothing worse than wasted calories!

I savored every mouthful of my 'egg in a cup' - 2 boiled eggs with a knob of butter mixed with salt and pepper. A childhood favourite and the butter calories were absolutely worth it!

MrsJonesAndMe · 24/10/2020 15:34

Hello, amazing picture @FatGirlShrinking and well done on the run @Trisolaris and resisting temptation @Puffalicious and eating when hungry @SunshineCake

I had a little peek on the scales and I'm at 10.2kg total loss so happy that I'm maintaining. Life hectic and stressful and a bit bleak, but we're still tier 1 by the skin of our teeth, so saw a friend yesterday and meeting another today and DS has been able to have a play too with his best friend.

take care x

FatGirlShrinking · 24/10/2020 17:13

@MrsJonesAndMe well done on maintaining during hectic times!

Thank you for the well donee everyone, seeing 199lb has been very nice!

Busy day today, went to softplay with DD this morning and she had me running through all the obstacles and sliding down the slides.

Supermarket shop this afternoon then I've done some sewing and cooked up a pork casserole for dinner.

DD now has a snood and fingerless mitts set ready for winter, made from some old pjs and a fleece jacket she's outgrown.

I've decided to take the weekend off.

I've made a chocolate torte cake which is very nice, half sugar so not as bad as could be. Lunch was a picnic of all the left over bits in the fridge with freshly made couscous, plant bacon and home made focaccia. Dinner was chicken pockets with cheese, lettuce and salsa. I made sweet potato crisps too but they were more like just slices of potato. I am not exercising today or tomorrow as I like running Monday to Friday and a slightly shorter run as my knees appreciate it.

Scales said I was up a bit this morning which made me disappointed but then I said you ate four biscuits, you are due on and you've still lost over a stone so don't be silly.

Neighbour said I was looking well. Second one to say that in a month. They really mean I'm looking less fat don't they GrinSad.

Puffalicious · 24/10/2020 18:57

Shocked at how many calories in a tortilla! 202 per each one! Lordy. Making fajitas for the family, a favourite for everyone, and made veggie ones for me- no sour cream, no cheese and home-made guacamole. Was feeling saintly until I saw the calories on the tortilla pack!!! I had 2 and I did enjoy them but a higher dinner than I had envisioned, so no treats with Strictly for me!

fallfallfall · 24/10/2020 20:48

ahhhhhhh @FatGirlShrinking :), lovely to see those numbers well done!
and i love the sewing!!
as anyone can guess i'm taking it easy. found some light walking video's and have avoided bouncing the girls. that is being a bit lazy as i do have an iron clad locked in place sports bra (that takes my dh's help to get me out of).
snow...yup it's arrived a month early and even if it's only here for 3-4 days that's 3-4 days too much for october.
i have a batch of jamie's braised red cabbage on the go, it freezes up well. i picked up a beauty of a red cabbage at the market on wednesday. last market day on the 28th, i'll be really disappointed to have to buy at the shops again.

TheRealHousewife · 25/10/2020 10:18

Morning Lovelies

That’s fantastic @FatGirlShrinking 👍👏⭐️🥇Bloody well done!

For those of you on a countdown to Christmas it’s 60 days away ... yikes 😳.

I’m hoping I get get below my stuck weight. I’m restarting my Fast800 5:2 plan. Since I’ve gone more free style the weight is yo yoing again. It would be great to get to my goal weight and have become fixed by the year end. It’s been a strange year.

Today’s menu is OMAD = Roast leg of lamb, oodles of veg, 2 small roast potatoes, gluten free mushroom & onion gravy. Followed by a small piece of gluten free Cheese Cake. Tea, 1 coffee and jug of lemon water.

That sounds like an interesting plan, RealHousewife I'm just calorie counting at the moment but will poss need to research all the more modern approaches you guys are referring to.

TheRealHousewife · 25/10/2020 10:52

@Puffalicious here is the Fast800 website. Plenty of free content. Also Free Recipes available on the Blood Sugar Diet website. I love researching 😊.

Puffalicious · 25/10/2020 11:08

Ooooh thanks, RealHousewife I'll investigate later. I'm pescatarian (well, veggie for 35 years and in the past few have started eating some fish here and there) so low cal/ low fat but still giving me energy can be tricky without my usual high fat nuts and avocado. Thanks so much x

FatGirlShrinking · 25/10/2020 12:56

@Puffalicious if your supermarket sells them, the Weightwatchers tortilla wraps are 118cals. My not at all dignified tactic with fajitas is to make one absolute stuffed to the gills with as much filling as you can squeeze in, then you get a very filling tasty meal without the extra carb calories. Of course you also end up with filling dripping down your chin and falling out of the wrap Grin

Thanks @TheRealHousewife I'm feeling a bit emotional about crossing the 200lb barrier, it feels surreal, being only 1lb off of leaving the obese range and having been obese or morbidly obese since I was 11 it doesn't feel quite real.

I started the 100 day weigh challenge on MFP on 17th September so 39 days in and lost 12 lb in that time, I'm hoping with 60 days till Xmas I can bin off another 14 lb. That may be a little over optimistic given the amount of crap food I'll have to avoid in December but it's not going to be a very sociable Xmas this year so I'm hoping I can do it.

Puffalicious · 25/10/2020 13:57

Thanks Fatgirlshrinking I'll check that out and your method of eating fajitas. If I could lose even a little bit before Xmas it would give me such a boost.
