Morning all! Welcome to the monthly thread for 7lbs/3kg per month! All are welcome whether new or old. There is a huge varieties of diets and exercise regime and loads of helpful hints.

All I ask for is the positivity and support that's been shown in every single one of these threads so far. You are all AMAZING!

Despite only losing 3 of my planned 7lbs last month I am ON IT for September and working hard for a much better loss.

My total loss so far is 8 stone and 2lbs and I still have 4 stone to go. Breaking it down into these half stone targets makes it feel much more manageable for me :)

Link to previous thread is here per month - its August! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosschat/3983285-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-its-august

Hope you feel better soon @cricketmum84.

Ecci · 19/09/2020 10:00

Congratulations @NerrSnerr on becoming overweight, its a great feeling, isn't it?
I've finally had a bit of downward scales movement, 11st 12.6 lbs today.

I think that it's such a struggle to lose weight at times because I have mental barriers I have to overcome, one part of me really wants to get to a healthy BMI and another part is saying that I've done enough already. It seems to vary from day to day, if that makes sense.

Shedtheload · 19/09/2020 17:22

Wow @NerrSnerr that’s fantastic. I remember how great it felt to be just overweight instead of obese. And the health differences between the two categories is massive so well done!

Had another bit of a blowout yesterday and I am realising that I need to stop doing this as it’s overeating that’s got me to gain weight in the first place. I’ve reassured myself though that it’s not going to cause weight gain because, providing I stick to a deficit for the rest of the month, I will still be in a deficit. I went on a long run this morning to make myself feel healthier which helped and have stuck to healthy eating all day today. Having potato salad and salmon for dinner.

DownUdderer · 19/09/2020 23:55

Here's a photo of me trying on a new skirt I want to fit into. I bought it online, it's a 12, but I think it's more like a 10. I feel like it'll never fit me, but at the same time I'm determined to try and fit into it!

I went for a walk yesterday to get some exercise, very nice to get out and clear my head.

I had half a cupcake yesterday, I'll have the other half today. It's nice to savor the treat!

The September 7lb per month challenge!
Tomhardyshadabath · 20/09/2020 08:16

Weighed myself for the first time today since starting this on 10th September and I'm really pleased:
Starting weight: 10 St 10
Weight today: 10 St 6.5.
My target by the end of Sept is 10.3 or below and it isn't feeling that hard at the moment. Just properly counting calories, no booze, eating between 9am and 6pm, broadly and a walk on some days. This is such a helpful thread, thank you so much 🙂.

NerrSnerr · 20/09/2020 08:48

@Shedtheload it's tough isn't it? I think the key is to get straight back on track straight away which you've done. @DownUdderer that skirt will fit in the end. Remember to save the photo to compare when it does fit. @Tomhardyshadabath well done. That's a great loss. You'll be in the 9s before you know it!

GetTheStartyParted · 20/09/2020 09:00

Well done @NerrSnerr Star amazing.

@Shedtheload I think it will happen from time to time but you have a good attitude towards it, make amends and move on - don't dwell on it or fall off the wagon.

@DownUdderer you'll fit in the skirt before you know it. It's nice to have a target. I started as a size 18, my target is to be a size 10, I'm finally getting into 12s at the moment so not too much more to go.

@Tomhardyshadabath well done, September is going well for you!

If I lose weight this week it will be a miracle, I've really tried and tracked things but have had takeaway once, date night meal out and two birthday meals out Blush I made good choices every time and stayed strong while cake and desserts were surrounding me but restaurants always serve more than I feed myself and even though I don't mindlessly clear my plate anymore, I know I probably eat more than I would/should.

I had to celebrate DD's and my DSis's birthdays though so if it slows things, that's part of life. And the takeaway was when we had been at the hospital for the afternoon with DS.

DownUdderer · 20/09/2020 10:06

I think if you’re eating out you may as well enjoy the meal, yes you can try and choose something good for you but life doesn’t totally stop when you’re trying to lose weight! If I went out to eat I’m sure I’d have chips, just because!

I’ve had steak and veggies for dinner, so yum, and filling.

I’m going for a 10km walk tomorrow, I’m looking forward to it. It’s my chance to unwind. I listen to audiobooks while I walk.

Good loss Tomhardyshadabath

DrivingAgain2020 · 20/09/2020 12:46

11st 2 this morning so 2lb loss this week. Thought it was back- think it was the homemade calorific nut pesto.

Looking forward to hitting 11 at the start of October. Well done every one.

Shedtheload · 20/09/2020 13:15

Thanks everyone. @DownUdderer that’s a lovely skirt and I agree with others that you will soon be able to zip it up. I have also started getting into audiobooks when walking and love it!

crivit · 20/09/2020 21:38

Back up to 66.3kg yesterday and today. Still not eating right though - many food smells and textures making me feel nauseous. Going on an acidophilus hunt in the morning to try and sort out my innards! That and back on the yoga. Cardio and weights can wait until the nausea has sodded off.

@cricketmum84 - hope you and your husband are on the mend.

@NerrSnerr - yay 🥳

@DownUdderer - not too far off on the skirt. Great motivator to check in with as well.

DownUdderer · 21/09/2020 06:52

I've done a 9km walk today I couldn't quite manage 10km, tired legs! I enjoyed it though, so nice to get out and feel energized. I was feeling hungry on the last couple of km's though! I didn't have anything left to eat so that's good! I had a yogurt and banana for breakfast at 10:30 then nuts for a snack a bit later.

I had scrambled eggs and a tomato for lunch. I've got steak with veggies for dinner.

Since giving up coca-cola I'm sure I feel less anxious. I'm not sure if that's psychosomatic or not!

I've got the kids home from school next week for a two week school holiday. If the weather is good we'll go to the beach, I've tried on my swimsuit and I'm happy that it looks fine. I'm glad I've dropped a few pounds and don't have to have the swimsuit stress.

Good luck everyone.

recklessgran · 21/09/2020 07:37

Morning all. Today is my weigh day.
Last week 12st 4lbs
Today 12st 0.75lbs
Happy with that 3.25lb loss. Hoping I'm now on track to be back in the 11's by the end of the month. If I'm honest I haven't managed to Keto properly and have been eating digestive biscuits every day - trying to keep away from the toast. I'm planning to fix this by posting my food intake daily on here from now on to see if the accountability helps. I have no idea why I'm suddenly finding this so difficult.
You lot are awesome and I love reading all your updates!

GetTheStartyParted · 21/09/2020 07:57

Sorry @cricketmum84 I somehow missed your post. I hope you are feeling better Flowers

@recklessgran that's a great loss - especially whilst still eating biscuits Grin

Well done everyone else, some great losses.

I have lost 1lb this week so my total loss is 60lbs. 2 more gets me into the 10s and 1 more than that means I will have lost 4 and a half stone - I'm really hoping to make this by the end of September.

recklessgran · 21/09/2020 08:03

@GetTheStartyParted that is phenomenal. You must be so proud of yourself. Well done and I really hope you make the 10's by the end of the month - you certainly deserve to.
Have a good day all. Looking forward to seeing your veg box @cricketmum84 and also hope you're feeling better today. Just catching up with the thread - I feel I've missed so much!

GetTheStartyParted · 21/09/2020 09:05

Thank you @recklessgran I'm getting there Smile I still need to lose 1st5 to have a healthy BMI but it's a lot closer than when I weighed in at 15st5 at the start of this. 34 weeks of keto has really flown by.

I have the occasional meal off plan, usually planned for a birthday or something, but it's become second nature. I will be taking some time off over Christmas as we have lots of celebrations so I really want to be as close as possible by then.

Foresttheout · 21/09/2020 10:25

Well done on the losses everyone, I love the pattern of that skirt @DownUdderer.
Sadly my scales have given up and I didn't have a chance to get a new set at the weekend, hoping I can pick some up next Saturday. I did manage to wear a pair of jeans that where getting very snug and uncomfortable all evening on Friday as they're back to fitting perfectly so i'm taking that as a win. Also tried on some old nice outfits which again where retired due to being uncomfortably snug, still a way to go with most of them but hoping I can be in them by christmas/January when I have several events and wedding scheduled.

crivit · 21/09/2020 22:04

Up again this morning to 66.6kg. Emotional eating in fairly full flow and still tired after the gastro thing. Yay 😐

@DownUdderer - giving up coke has probably made quite a difference. Not always easy to do either. It was so difficult for me I pondered as to whether they were still putting cocaine in the stuff.

@recklessgran and @GetTheStartyParted - good results 🥳

@Foresttheout - clothes fitting again is a fine non scales win 😁

DownUdderer · 22/09/2020 01:18

@cricketmum84 how are you feeling? Still feeling ill? I hope it's not too bad.

I've just had a yogurt and a handful of pistachios for breakfast, I love pistachios and could eat the whole bag! I have to measure out a small handful to stay good. I'm 4lb down this week yippee. I want to lose 11 more lbs.

Recklessgran, that's a good loss!

Getthepartystarted that's a great achievement!

What sort of things do you eat on your keto plan? I've got some prawns for lunch, I'll have them with some lettuce and avocado.

recklessgran · 22/09/2020 08:19

Morning all.
Yesterday I had ham and tomato salad for lunch and steak and stir fry for dinner. So far so good. BUT. Went to g/f last night as is usual for Monday evening. Coffee and biscuits when I got home. On the naughty step AGAIN. FGS I need to get my act together properly - it seems that once you fall off the Keto wagon it's very hard to get back on! Must do better today - will be drinking more water too.

Howmanysleepsnow · 22/09/2020 08:32

Morning everyone!
I let the diet slide a bit over the weekend. DH was going away for 2 weeks and wanted a takeaway on the Friday night, then a meal out on the Saturday when we went to drop him off. We had brunch on the journey too. I tried to choose healthier options, but the sheer volume of food meant I gained 0.5lb so I’m back at 10st 4lb after 10 days at 10st 3lb/ 1 day at 10st 3.5lb.
Back on it this week, and with no DH as a bad influence hopefully I can lose that lb and a bit more by the end of the month.
Well done to everyone who’s losing.
@cricketmum84 hope you both feel better soon. Did you get a test?

DownUdderer · 22/09/2020 09:19

I've been hungry today, I had an extra snack and a glass of chocolate milk. I just felt so hungry just before breakfast. Willpower felt very low today, but I think I did ok over all.

Tomorrow will be the start of week three for my weight loss. I'm losing the weight I put on during lockdown!

I wish DH would think about losing some weight, he works from home and gets virtually no exercise.

GetTheStartyParted · 22/09/2020 10:59

@DownUdderer I eat 20g of carbs per day or under. Main staples are meat, fish, eggs, cheese and some veg.

Today will be a 3 egg cheese omelette, a huge tuna salad, and a sugar free jelly with extra thick cream.

Most fruit is off the menu, which I do miss. But I have strawberries and rhubarb from time to time. The amount of fat you add to food means you don't really get hungry. I track my food to make sure I get the levels about right, if I don't track I tend to eat more as I feel hungrier.

It was my DH that suggested keto, he wanted to lose 35lbs and it only took him about 10 weeks!

NerrSnerr · 22/09/2020 11:19

Hi all. Feeling very tired today, had to take my daughter to out of hours last night as she has another UTI. She's feeling better today and has gone off to school (luckily she has a very lovely teacher who will give her extra reminders to go to the toilet).

Depending on my daughter I may do a yoga class tonight (she has sports at the same time so if she's not well enough we won't go). Just sticking to calories and trying to stay awake as I work from home!!

JessJonesJumps · 22/09/2020 15:48

I lost you all.
Scales are still being temperamental so I genuinely have no idea what my weight is. I haven't weighed for five days and I haven't managed any yoga. It looks as though I'll just need to pretend this month never happened.
@GetTheStartyParted I'm so glad you had good news about your DS. Flowers
