Morning all! Welcome to the monthly thread for 7lbs/3kg per month! All are welcome whether new or old. There is a huge varieties of diets and exercise regime and loads of helpful hints.

All I ask for is the positivity and support that's been shown in every single one of these threads so far. You are all AMAZING!

Despite only losing 3 of my planned 7lbs last month I am ON IT for September and working hard for a much better loss.

My total loss so far is 8 stone and 2lbs and I still have 4 stone to go. Breaking it down into these half stone targets makes it feel much more manageable for me :)

Link to previous thread is here per month - its August! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosschat/3983285-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-its-august

Massive well done, Cricketmum, on dropping in to the next stone down Star. That is such a motivator. Well done also to anyone who has managed to gain height which also helps! Alas, I am a half inch shorter than I thought (shrinking with age, I think) but am still measuring my bmi at original height Halo. Well done everyone else on the losses- there are some great numbers here this month.

Shedtheload · 13/09/2020 14:59

Wow @cricketmum84 that’s amazing! A whole inch! I definitely think that yoga/stretching contributes to it. I used to hunch my shoulders rather than standing straight.

NerrSnerr · 13/09/2020 15:36

My in-laws are visiting this afternoon (I have escaped to the kitchen to 'tidy up'). There is a yoga class at 5 which I'll go to if they've left by then (they should do as there are road closures so they won't want to leave too late). If not I'll go swimming instead. I was very good at lunch time and have plenty of calories left over for tea.

Yoga is definitely good for inch loss. I would really recommend it. It really helps my bad back too.

JessJonesJumps · 13/09/2020 23:33

Congratulations on all the losses and milestones! I'm having a slow month so I'm going to try OMAD this week to kickstart it.

DownUdderer · 14/09/2020 05:43

Some great milestones being met and amazing news about posture, yoga and gaining height! I've never tried yoga, but I'm getting tempted now! I think I have a yoga mat in the garage. I used to do pilates and enjoyed it.

I've had a long hike this morning, it was really hilly. I wouldn't have done it if I'd remembered how steep it was, but I did it regardless. My legs were like jelly coming back down!

I'm happy with my food choices so far for the day. I've had scrambled eggs for lunch, I find eggs filling and tasty. I'm drinking loads of water.

I've bought some low GI bread, it's really nice, seeds and wholemeal.

I think I'll have chicken breast for dinner tonight, with whatever veg I can find in the fridge.

Shedtheload · 14/09/2020 06:36

Okay so I decided to brave the scales after all despite saying I’d wait until Friday. Turns out that despite my huge blowout (think three servings of apple and rhubarb crumble) I am down over a pound. That means that my total weight loss to date is 40.2 pounds, or 2 stone 12.2. Next milestone to aim for is 3 stone.

The body fat measuring thing on my scales seems to be going haywire. It reckons that in the space of 4 days, I have dropped 9% body fat and now have the level of an athlete! Excuse me while I snort 😂. Clearly something has gone wrong somewhere so I am going to order a new set of scales (getting some Huawei ones after reading good reviews). I know that scales aren’t that accurate for body fat anyway but it would be good to have something that’s at least in the right ballpark. Hope it doesn’t turn out that the weighing part was wrong too and that I’m a stone heavier than I thought 😂

GetTheStartyParted · 14/09/2020 07:11

Well done for the losses and I hope everyone is feeling motivated and ready for this week!

Weigh in day here - and I've lost 2lbs! I only lost 3lbs for the whole of August so I think September is shaping up to be a better month.

Today is going to comprise of trying to keep busy as DS's appointment about his arm is tomorrow. I'm feeling so anxious. So an extra long walk for the dogs, swimming, some food prep and lots of housework I think. Typical that its a day off. I have been awake since about 5.30am Sad

Have a great Monday everyone!

Foresttheout · 14/09/2020 07:20

Well done on all the losses, I didn't have a terrible weekend food wise but am back up from 71.5kg on Friday to 72kg this morning. Its the totm so hoping it's just bloating and water weight from that as 2lb loss in 14 days isn't great if it's not

WhatALearningCurve · 14/09/2020 07:29

Good morning folks!

Sorry I've been awol. Had 2 weeks completely off the wagon and now feel very lumpy and bleugh. Plus I've now gone up to 4 days a week in work so all the walking and exercise I was doing before has gone out the window.

Just weighed myself though and came in at 10st 0.25 lbs which means I've only gained about half a pound. No idea how that's happened but either way I don't feel good.

This has definitely shown my that I want my maintain wait to be in the 9's. I want to keep my weight out of the double figures as much as I can.

Going to try and be sensible for 2 weeks then start the challenge again properly in October.

I'll read through the thread properly now but it's good to be back!

recklessgran · 14/09/2020 12:00

Morning all. I'm finally back and ready to stay off the naughty step and get back to normal after my month long carb fest at the hands of massive wider family crisis. Anyway, I've had a lovely break in virtually covid free Corfu so feeling much better for it. Now for the damage!
Today's weight 12 st 4lbs.
That's a massive 8lbs gain since I fell off the wagon having reached my goal of 11st 10lbs at the top of the BMI healthy weight for my height. Sigh.
Plan for the rest of September is to get back on Keto and be in the 11's by the end of the month. Will try to read back and catch up with you all later.

GetTheStartyParted · 14/09/2020 13:31

Hi @WhatALearningCurve and @recklessgran Its lovely to see you back!

Well done on the very small gain WhatALearningCurve - I hope you find the balance that helps you maintain but feel good too!

Recklessgran with keto you'll soon lose those few pounds, I hope you had a fabulous holiday and recharged your batteries after a tough time Flowers

My plan for the day went out the window, I sat down to write what questions I wanted to ask the consultant tomorrow and burst into tears, they wouldn't stop so I had to cancel my swim session Blush I eventually pulled myself together and did a bit of food prep instead.

NerrSnerr · 14/09/2020 14:01

Welcome back @WhatALearningCurve and @recklessgran. Really hope all is ok tomorrow @WhatALearningCurve. How is the break on his arm doing? Is it bothering him?

I had some good news today, I won £100 voucher on one of the sponsored threads on here, going to treat myself to a new swimming costume and the rest can go towards Christmas.

GetTheStartyParted · 14/09/2020 14:56

It seems to be healing well thank you, he isn't in much pain at all, just achy.

I just need to hear them say that it isn't cancer! Once I have that reassurance then I won't feel so up in the air with everything. I would like to know the treatment plan too but I can be a little more patient with that.

Wow, that's great, congrats Smile and good thinking with how to spend it, Christmas is looming.

Shedtheload · 14/09/2020 15:39

@GetTheStartyParted Flowers that must be so so worrying for you. Hoping that it will go well tomorrow and that a treatment plan can be put in place.

GetTheStartyParted · 14/09/2020 15:47

Thank you. I know it's unlikely to be cancer but until then my mind keeps playing 'what if'.

I'm attempting a new recipe for dinner tonight, anything to keep busy. Keto battered fish with swede chips and homemade tartare sauce. Fingers crossed it works! I made keto rhubarb crumble today, it looks atrocious but tastes good Grin

Ecci · 14/09/2020 18:51

Congratulations, @cricketmum84 on getting to the 16s. I'm getting nowhere this month. End of August, I just made it into the 11s at 11st 13.8lbs. Since then I've been fluctuating between 11st 13lbs and 12st 1lb. No apparent reason for it that I can see. I haven't had anything I shouldn't and I'm hoping it will start to move soon. Only thing different is I had a bad reaction to my flu jab on the 5th which made me feel really ill for 3 days, so I couldn't go for any walks, but I'm over that now. So annoying!

DownUdderer · 15/09/2020 06:37

I'm trying to have a day today without cheese! I could happily add cheese to almost everything!

I'm cooking up a bolognese for dinner this evening. I won't have any pasta I'll probably add extra thinned tomatoes to mine and make it into a sort of soup.

I diligently drinking lots of water.

I hope the consultant has good news for you @GetTheStartyParted

NerrSnerr · 15/09/2020 07:41

Hope today goes ok @GetTheStartyParted and you'll get that weight lifted from your shoulders.

Another day working from home here. My husband has started going further afield for work trips so is 2.5 hours away today- he kindly left really early so he'll have a chance to pick up the youngest from nursery so I can go to a yoga class while my eldest is at her sports class. Hoping he makes it in time.

Good luck for going without cheese @DownUdderer. I couldn't do it.

Foresttheout · 15/09/2020 08:16

Trying to get back to 16:8 today and its definitely difficult after a few days off, i'm so hungry and still have 1 hr 44 mins to go. Not that i'm counting or anything.
I am also a complete cheese addict @DownUdderer good luck without it, i'm now wondering what I could smoother in mozzerella and call lunch.
Thinking of you and your son today @GetTheStartyParted fingers crossed for good news

recklessgran · 15/09/2020 08:59

Morning all. Will be thinking of you today @GetTheStartyParted and hoping all will be well for you and DS of course. Sending hugs and flowers and positive vibes.
Weight has dropped slightly from yesterday so staying on track so far - baby steps and all that!
Plan for today is Bacon and egg for lunch. Pork chop, roast vegetables and cauli and broccoli cheese for dinner. Sugar free jelly and raspberries if I fancy something "sweet" at any point. [That is my go to under 50 calorie treat if I need it.]
Have a good day all.

GetTheStartyParted · 15/09/2020 10:54

Thank you everyone. Work has kept me busy this morning, though I have been awake since around 3am Hmm feeling better today than I did yesterday. DS is just hoping they don't do another blood test Grin

I've just had cheesy eggs for breakfast, need to to eat before we head to the hospital, in case we are there for a while but don't know what to have.

Definitely wishing you luck @DownUdderer - having no cheese is a tough one!

@recklessgran share your dinner, please? It sounds delicious.

My fish worked out really well yesterday, will definitely make it again.

GetTheStartyParted · 15/09/2020 16:24

It is 100% a bone cyst. Follow up xrays and physio for the next 6 months to give it a chance to heal itself. If not, then we will discuss surgery.

The consultant was great, telling DS what he can and can't do, especially sports. DS cried when he came out, he is so sad that he can't play sports for at least 6 months. I'm sad for him but so relieved too. Thanks everyone!

Shedtheload · 15/09/2020 16:42

Wow what a relief for you! It’s sad that he can’t play sports for a while but so good that it’s not anything more serious. Hope you can relax a bit now.

recklessgran · 15/09/2020 16:43

So pleased @GetTheStartyParted that's really great news - it must be such a relief!
BTW that fish looks delicious - please can you share the recipe?
[ I'll raise you my pork chop and broccoli cheese for it.....ha! ha!]

GetTheStartyParted · 15/09/2020 17:01

It really is a huge relief. DS is really sad but he will adapt, sports are such a big part of his life unfortunately.

Yes, @recklessgran I found it on a keto Facebook group, from another member. I made the batter by mixing the ingredients in the order they are listed (subbed cajun with cayenne), and deep fried.
