cricketmum84 · 03/09/2020 06:28

Morning all! Welcome to the monthly thread for 7lbs/3kg per month! All are welcome whether new or old. There is a huge varieties of diets and exercise regime and loads of helpful hints.

All I ask for is the positivity and support that's been shown in every single one of these threads so far. You are all AMAZING!

Despite only losing 3 of my planned 7lbs last month I am ON IT for September and working hard for a much better loss.

My total loss so far is 8 stone and 2lbs and I still have 4 stone to go. Breaking it down into these half stone targets makes it feel much more manageable for me :)

Link to previous thread is here per month - its August! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosschat/3983285-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-its-august

Look at those whiskers! So cute!

I'm down this morning, going low carb last time, helped me in the first few weeks see a good loss week after week. I hope to have good losses again this time. I'm quite annoyed at how easy it was to just slip into bad habits and pile the weight on again. I did an online supermarket shop yesterday and I didn't add any of the junk I've been snacking on recently! That'll help!

Shedtheload · 09/09/2020 05:53

Hi to all newbies and congrats on the losses so far.
@cricketmum84 that is one cute cat! Well done on your yoga. I love yoga and I think it’s really great for weight loss because it calms and focuses you so you stay on track.

Weighed in this morning and have lost just over a pound. My body fat is down a bit too to 30.7. I can’t wait for it to be under 30.

Foresttheout · 09/09/2020 08:16

Finally got brave enough to weigh myself after the weekends feasting and have dropped about 1.5lb. Hoping it sticks but also thinking I may need new scales as I had to weigh myself several times before getting a number that stuck instead of flickering.

@cricketmum84 Well done on the yoga it is definitely harder than its made out to be. I have been trying to do an online class each Friday and I also do an hour with a personal trainer once a week. I hurt just as much after the yoga as I do the personal training, I think its because its continuous movement and stretching for an hour whereas most other forms of class like pilates, HIIT etc usually have short breaks between movements

cricketmum84 · 09/09/2020 09:20

I'm in even more pain today 😂 I did a few short 10 minute bursts of the moves I learned on Monday yesterday thinking it might ease off the pain but nope! Is this normal for a first yoga session?? It's mainly the front of my thighs and my knees. God I feel old.

Defo need a better food plan today as I literally ate 2 hash browns and a handful of jelly sweets yesterday!

So plan! (And stick to it)
B - apple
L - getting the soup maker out. DD is begging for leek and potato today
D - chilli nachos but adjusting mine so it's quorn mince for me and littlest DD and mine will be on Salad instead of tortilla chips

Should have weighed this morning but I forgot oops! Got my new tape measure arriving today though.

Great thread and amazing weight loss OP.

I hope it’s OK if I join? I am aiming for another 3lb now by the end of September. That would make 7lb total loss.

I am being more active, tracking food, and have just started doing 5:2 (completed for this week).

JessJonesJumps · 09/09/2020 10:15

@cricketmum84 yy you will feel pain with yoga. Once it focuses on your core and abs you feel as though someone has kicked you in the ribs Grin But you also see progress quickly too eg your shape changes and you will notice you can stretch/reach further.
I've lost my mojo somehow. I've been trying to be good but my weight is creeping back up. I'll need to go back to last month's menus and see if I can get back on top of it. I don't really understand how I've fallen off. I'm exercising and drinking water.

GetTheStartyParted · 09/09/2020 11:21

I was so tempted to try yoga when you were all saying how good it is. But I'm not sure i can handle the aching Grin

Well done @cricketmum84 sounds like you are creating a new habit. I'm trying to get back to regular swimming.

I have eaten well this week, sticking to my macros and cooking some lovely meals, I'm hoping it pays off.

Shedtheload · 09/09/2020 11:33

Yes, yoga can lead to muscle pain in the beginning. I remember that I could hardly walk after my first power-yoga class. Just shows it’s working so power on through it and think of all the lean muscle you will be building.

@JessJonesJumps that’s frustrating. If you’re on track with your exercise and food though there probably isn’t much you can do except wait for your body to get back on track. It’s annoying when it’s happening though and you know you’re doing everything right yet the scale doesn’t play ball.

JessJonesJumps · 09/09/2020 17:27

I'm now channeling my frustration by eating Doritos but I think I can fit them in my daily allowance.
DS ' test was negative which is good but he is still ill and has given me the cold so I'm snacking rather than eating meals.
DM just called to say the son of an old family friend has died. We were at school together and I'm quite discombobulated by it.

crivit · 09/09/2020 22:43

Moustache weighed less than hoped - only down 100g this morning sigh

Food day started ok, porridg-y breakfast and a salad plus pasta for lunch but after work, not so good. Peanuts and a new gu pudding happened. The peanuts weren't a great idea but the pudding was awesome >

DownUdderer · 10/09/2020 00:22

Sorry to hear the sad news jessjonesjumps.

I'm losing weight, I've stopped eating carbs so it gives the body a bit of a jolt and I think you lose water weight initially.

I've got smoked salmon for lunch. I might have it with one slice of low carb bread and tomato. I've run out of salad so I need to pop to the supermarket.

Shedtheload · 10/09/2020 06:39

@JessJonesJumps sorry to hear that. It’s awful when people die young as it’s so unexpected and shocking. Glad to hear your DS was negative for Covid.

Tomhardyshadabath · 10/09/2020 06:52

Can I join? Slightly late to the party but:
Starting weight 10st 10
Target weight 9st 4
Would like to be under 9st 11 by my birthday at the end of October.

Howmanysleepsnow · 10/09/2020 07:19

Weighed in this morning at 10st 4lb for the 3rd day running (didn’t believe it the first 2 days!) which means I’ve already lost 6 of the 7lbs I put on on holiday last month and I’ve only been trying for about a week! I’m more than happy to plateau here for a while as normally (well, since my late 30s) my body likes to settle around 11st.
Love the kitten picture!

cricketmum84 · 10/09/2020 07:49

Still flipping 17.0 today!! Had no appetite again yesterday and skipped evening meal and I'm still sore from yoga. I don't understand why it isn't dropping!! DH just pointed out how low my protein intake has been recently so could be why I'm still aching.

@Howmanysleepsnow that's some good going! Well done!

Welcome @Tomhardyshadabath and @Lumene

@crivit damn that moustache 😂

So sorry @JessJonesJumps that is very sad news.

School run time... DD(11) is already worn out this week, it's such a change from the last 6 months!

Tempted to book in for a lane swim when I drop her off tomorrow.

DownUdderer · 10/09/2020 09:28

I've had a good day, I fased until lunchtime by accident because I forgot to pick up my yogurt as I went out the door! I was famished when I got home, I prefer to eat a yogurt at 10:00 or 10:30 in the morning.

I have bought some healthy bits to snack on. I've bought hommus, I'd forgotten how much I love it!

MirandaWest · 10/09/2020 12:31

I've been floating around the 70kg/11 stone mark. Have been weighing myself daily out of interest and overall still going down.

Body is definitely looking better - tummy is not as fat and my bottom has definitely got smaller. And back fat is less.

Was my birthday on Tuesday so ate more then than normal. And haven't been doing as many steps this week (only just managing my 15,000 a day target) so not expecting much movement on the scales.

But overall is OK. Have lost 10 kg since 24th June, another 4kg to be not overweight and ideally a further 6kg to be the weight I'd like.

crivit · 10/09/2020 15:32

Bit of a hurried post last night as I was so sleepy while writing it I dropped my phone on my face. Therefore, some addendums (addenda?).

Yay to everyone who has lost a little more 😊

@Shedtheload - so close to that 30% body fat now it shouldn't be long coming.

@GetTheStartyParted - yoga ache is a good ache, honest 😁

@JessJonesJumps - sorry about your school friend. Good news about your DS. Definitely a mixed news day for you!

@Tomhardyshadabath - welcome 😊

@cricketmum84 - some temptations should be indulged and I think a lane swim session is one of them.

@DownUdderer - houmous is a food of the garlicky goodness gods.

@MirandaWest - happy birthday 🎂 (low sugar but tasty cake emoji)

I weighed in at 67.1kg this morning. Done cardio and yoga and eaten fairly healthily so far. Ok, so it was pizza and salad bits for lunch but a pizza without meat or cheese and with lots of veg.

Also, here's a photo of my kitten too. One of the few when she isn't moving (arm not mine). Taken nearly two weeks ago now (at about 9 weeks old) so she's already grown a lot. I'm losing my ickle baby too soon 😢

The September 7lb per month challenge!
NerrSnerr · 10/09/2020 16:39

Hi all. Well done on all the losses. I have kept to my calories but felt like I have lost my mojo a little. Once my children have had their tea I'm going to force myself to do some exercise which should sort me out a bit. Only 2lbs away from my first stone loss and 4lbs away from no longer being obese so need to stick with it.

Mmanma · 10/09/2020 22:26

Hello

I know I'm late to the party but I hope you don't mind if I join you. I managed to lose around 20 lbs from when lockdown started but then had to have surgery in July and have gained a few pounds back so just trying to get back on the train now and I could do with some motivation.

Current weight (07/09/2020): 78 kg. I would be over the moon if I could get down to 75kg by the end of September. I try to do 16:8 intermittent fasting on most days and also trying to work my way back to doing HIIT 3 x a week.

Wishing everyone strength and perseverance for their journeys :)

DownUdderer · 11/09/2020 07:20

Another cute kitten! Aww.

I've had a good day today. I've had a long walk across the beach, this always gives me aching legs! I had a salad with avocado, cucumber, carrot, mozzarella, olives and hummus. It was really filling and tasty.

I'm trying my best to drink loads of water, I know it makes a big difference for me.

Good luck everyone.

Foresttheout · 11/09/2020 07:28

Loving the cute kitties, I weighed myself again today and the 1.5lb loss has stuck which is great. Hoping it'll be down a little more by Monday. Trying to stick to 60mins of exercise 5 days a week whether it be HIIT, pilates, yoga or walking the dog. Hoping that helps as I didn't manage 16:8 Wednesday as I had a mild migraine and the only thing that helps is sipping flat full fat coke.

peanutbutterdog · 11/09/2020 08:11

I am feeling pleased with myself. After hovering for the month of August around 12st 1lb, since beginning of this month I have finally dropped into the 11s. This morning, I am 11st 12.5lbs. For September, I am just hoping to stay in this stone bracket as it is coming off so slowly now.

Love the kitty pics - they cheer me up!

NerrSnerr · 11/09/2020 08:17

Welcome @Mmanma. I keep wondering about doing 16:8, may try it at some point.

I hope you get under that 17 mark soon @cricketmum84. It's so frustrating isn't it when you're trying to get under a stone marker!!

Still plodding on here at 11st 8. Have in-laws visiting on Sunday (luckily there's only 6 of us all together so we can continue to meet). I'll make a buffet with quiches, sandwiches etc. I'm going to plate up my own calorie counted plate so I know exactly what I'm having. Will go swimming tomorrow and Sunday too, was hoping to squeeze a swim today but with work, school runs and my daughter's swimming lesson I don't have the time as my husband is working a double shift. Will do something at home later.

Have a good Friday everyone.
