Hi, here's the new thread. Always love the new start that September brings with back to school and all the jazz. I'm unfortunately starting the month heavier, 9st2.5, bit cross with myself to be honest, know I have been comfort eating, its got to stop. Aim for this month is as ever yawn, 8st13.

@Heygirlheyboy Your breakfast didn't look like private parts, I hasten to add!

I am knackered! Apparently I still have 1200 calories available as I've burnt as much as I've eaten and then some.

Vulva for breakfast 😱

Grin Bercows!

Eat up!

My dinner is meatballs and Spaghetti. It lends itself to penis shapes really doesn't it? Can't neglect the spaghetti to make it boob shaped food.

Blimey Bercows, i'm envious of your extra calories. Having said that, now i'm in maintenance, should I start eating my exercise calories? While i'd kill for more budget, I hate changing my targets. It makes me all anxious. I'm currently eating 1500 in the week, 2000 at the weekends, averaging out at around 1642. My maintenance calories are apparently 1720 at "Not very active" as I work from home at a desk but I do walk 6 miles most evenings and a good amount at the weekends too. Changing MFP to "Lightly active" gives me 1910 a day.

I'd personally change to light active as you definitely are..

I've stuffed my face as been so hungry. 1650 today but the exercise allows for it. According to MFP I have almost 500 calories left but lots of posters say they are massively overestimated. Not a bad start to being back on the wagon. Everyone has been doing so well in my 3 week absence and seems really motivatedSmile

Oh Honeybadger I missed that, great news!

I am logged for the day at 1300. Mad to think of the amount of food I had today but not using my cals by over 399 because of what the foods were. Dressing on salad, roast potatoes etc, all OK because of foods I had. Delighted. Period has arrived a few days early. I am mad as didn't make most of the high burn time thinking I had a few more days! Oh well. Day one of crazy week down and all my to dos done.

Thanks Heygirl, it helps to have someone else say it! It sure seems a lot and I don't know how long i'll continue my current routine but I suppose you have to adjust as you go. I'd hate to get used to eating more then having to reduce in winter of all times.

Hi Kazjay, welcome!

Idontmindmarmite you burn this amount, you won't go back and a weekly weigh in will keep a good eye. Keep eating the good stuff and you won't go wrong.

I have just worked out, repeatedly as I can't quite believe a) I was carrying all that extra around and b) that I have shed it!! If I hit my current target of 8st9 I will have lost.... 23lbs since Jan!!! Wohooh.

Thanks and yes, feeling much better. Just knackered from work.

I’ve met all my targets today for activity and calories burned and only had a small dinner today.

Bercows that’s an impressive step count. You should sleep well tonight.

I'd recommend Beef Stroganoff using 0% fat greek yoghurt instead of Sour Cream by the way, made no difference taste wise as far as I could see. Bloody greek yoghurt does it again! I made this recipe this week and it was really good. More of a goulash than a stroganoff but really tasty.

IDontMindMarmite That sounds yummy :-)

Welcome Kazjay1.

Heygirlheyboy Does it really matter exactly which day you have a few extra calories in? Surely it just averages out over the week/month?

Great step count Bercows! How are the legs?

Sorry monochrome not sure what you mean? Is it re my period arriving comment? I the two weeks before we tend to need more/burn more cals which is why we might feel like eating more so I have found if 8 really go for it say with activity I can knock a bit more off at this time! You need less in first 2 weeks which you could take advantage of too but it works better for me to concentrate on the luteal phase beforehand. Someone posted a red talk on it previously. It's also worth allowing for more healthy food in the week or so beforehand so you're less inclined to reach for the wrong thing. I find it helpful to keep it in mind.

Welcome Kazjay. Interesting what you said about periods Heygirl, think that helped muck me up this week. 9st0.25 this morning I certainly fluctuate, but v pleased.

Great octopus. It also works for first two weeks, you need less so you might find you cut more easily.. So I have hit my target and I'm now 8st8.5 yippee! 23.5lb total loss. Simply hard to believe. 23 pounds of butter I don't ever want again. I now have to keep up the changes. Feeling good.

Well done hey girl. I’ve lost a similar amount but still have a long way to go.

13st13 exactly today despite a bowl of beans late last night because I had eaten too early and too small a dinner. So two days under 14st in a row. Would be nice to stay this side at last.

Off for fasted swimming at lunchtime and planning to start a stew in the slow cooker before I go so there is healthy low cal food for when I get hungry.

Morning everyone!
I have a plan for today that probably is going to fail coz I have an interview this evening. I tend to eat when I am nervous, and talk too much. I am making some snacks to not attack the chocolate bars.
B: Greek yogurt and granola. Tea
L: leftover lentil and butternut squash.
D: ox cheek with mushrooms and mash.
S: soy egg, blueberries & blackberries, popcorn and veggie sticks. (I don't think I will eat all of these but they are there)

God I hate interviews, best of luck @Lalanbaba. You have all day to wait for it too Sad.

Good job @TheHoneyBadger! Sounds like you've cracked the 14stone barrier!

@Heygirlheyboy Massive Congratulations!!! You have really rocked it, very impressive. Welcome to maintenance. I wonder how you find it. For me, it's been hard to get my head around and get a handle on. As a result it's been up and down. Taking longer to figure out than weight loss.

I weighed in a couple of lbs heavier than last week but the scales did dither between 1-2lbs and last week I did give blood so was probably artificially lower. It was hard keeping to calorie count yesterday but just about managed it.

Have a great day everyone!

@Heygirlheyboy Yes I was referring to that. I saw the TED talk and it was really interesting, and helpful to understand how you may need extra calories in the couple of weeks leading up to your period, and fewer afterwards so you can adjust your calorie budget according to the time of month. But what I thought you were saying was that you'd forgotten to add the extra calories which was a shame because you couldn't do it now your period had arrived. And I was saying that if you've forgotten to add a few more calories a few days ago, it won't matter if you add them a few days 'late' - all it means is that you potentially had a harder time of it before your period, but you still have the same overall calories if you add them a few days 'late'. Does that make sense?

I'm not sure whether that applies to me anyway, because I have a Mirena coil. But what I have noticed is that since I've been trying to lose weight mid-August, the graph has gone suddenly down nearly a kilo followed by 3 or 4 weeks of no weight loss, then suddenly down, then nothing for 3 or 4 weeks, even though my calorie intake hasn't fluctuated that wildly.

I definitely get more hungry prior to my period. I thankfully don't crave jam doughnuts anymore though.
I think I'm going to struggle sticking to 1250 if I'm walking so much. Today will be less than yesterday but tomorrow will be the same as Monday. Does anyone know how I work out how active I am fir the purpose of calculating TDEE? At the weekends I don't do much walking at all so I'd have to average it out I guess.
