Slender in September

Hi, here's the new thread. Always love the new start that September brings with back to school and all the jazz. I'm unfortunately starting the month heavier, 9st2.5, bit cross with myself to be honest, know I have been comfort eating, its got to stop. Aim for this month is as ever yawn, 8st13.

Definitely. You have to not stress and keep going. It’ll show on the scales eventually.

Octopus37 · 24/09/2020 07:17

110 (7st12) does sound very low to me how long to Christmas, I'm 5ft5. I did weigh that when my kids were little (breastfeeding and running around like a loon), but everybody told me I looked too thin, my chest and face were quite bony. People's builds are different though, also depends how old you are, for me my 40s have definitely changed how I look at different weights. 9st2 this morning, but I went for a Toby Carvery with my Dad last night and also had a couple of drinks, also period.

Gosh darnit you were right @Heygirlheyboy, those 2lbs just magically disappeared! Back to my lowest number. God maintenance is a fecking rollercoaster.

Monochrome4 · 24/09/2020 09:08

Thank you TheHoneyBadger and Heygirlheyboy! I had to look up 'drop a dookie' Grin

Hope everyone else is ok today!

Monochrome4 · 24/09/2020 09:43

This Jordan Syatt bloke is good! Just been reading his tweets and watching his videos. He seems very sensible. Thanks!

TheHoneyBadger · 24/09/2020 11:16

14st0.8

I had the goal of being securely under 14st for August then postponed that as I was stressed about going back to work. Between going back to work and illness it got postponed further.

Goal for September was stay sane and have the scales going in the right direction. Think I may have to take not giving up and gaining as a win and keep reminding myself I’ve lost 21lbs and can lose the rest.

Monochrome4 · 24/09/2020 11:50

TheHoneyBadger

Firstly, congratulations for losing 21lb! That's a real achievement. And you're absolutely right that staying sane always has to be no. 1 priority. Dieting takes up a lot of mental energy.

I watched a few of those Jordan Syatt videos this morning after HeyGirlHeyBoy's recommendation. There's one in which he talks about breaks where you are in 'maintenance' rather than 'deficit' mode and how it's actually beneficial to switch between the two rather than spending months and months in calorie deficit. I think it's this one.

IDontMindMarmite · 24/09/2020 11:59

@Monochrome4 If you like that sort of thing (I do too) then may I recommend a couple more?

Monochrome4 · 24/09/2020 12:05

@IDontMindMarmite Thank you! Will watch with interest.

Heygirlheyboy · 24/09/2020 17:46

You'll find that Idontmindmarmite Wink Nice to hear it first thing in the morning tho!

Hope everyone good today. I have a two hour training session online now Hmm.
B: porridge and banana
L: (10.20am again) Broccoli, feta, hazelnuts and tomato salad followed by kiwi
D: Chicken paella with peas. Delish.
I'm now over 400 cals off my new increased cals.. I'm at just over 1200. What to do. Stuffed after the paella but will stay open to a snack. Delighted you like JS Monochrome
Stayed at 8st9.75 today, scales playing ball again.

Heygirlheyboy · 24/09/2020 17:49

I feel I've cracked my best formula aswell. Seems to be two reasonable cal, v healthy meals for breakfast and lunch, with carbs for breakfast and none/fewer at lunch and that way I'm kept going really well while having a nice cal allowance left for what would have been my danger zone/snacky time. Really decent dinners mean I have no calling to crack. 4 weeks no junk now after Allen Carr and no effort. Madness.

Hangoverstruggles · 24/09/2020 20:37

@Heygirlheyboy which Allen Carr book is it you've used? I'm embarrassed to say I always thought you were referring to Alan Carr the comedian 😂

IDontMindMarmite · 24/09/2020 20:38

Congratulations @Heygirlheyboy, no junk for 4 weeks is amazing! Tempting me to get that Allen Carr book.

Heygirlheyboy · 24/09/2020 20:47

Oh so funny re Chatty Man Grin I've probably mixed up the Allen/Alan spelling have I? Roaring at the thought of the comedian sorting out my emotional eating addiction! It's easy way to end emotional eating for those interested. I can't get over it. Feel I haven't consciously done a thing, haven't held myself back or worked hard to say no etc. I literally don't have any decision to make on it now, it's gone.

Monochrome4 · 24/09/2020 21:06

Just 'accidentally' went way over calorie budget by not working out dinner calories in advance. "It's only roasted vegetables, surely it can't be that calorific?". Well, it depends on how much olive oil you poured in. Healthy, but still calorific... Still, it was tasty so it wasn't for nothing.

Onwards and upwards!

Heygirlheyboy · 24/09/2020 21:15

That's why I love the two lower cal meals followed by a big dinner, not much pushes me over then. I'm still 400 under but think should probably have something..

Monochrome4 · 24/09/2020 21:37

@Heygirlheyboy Yes that was my plan for the day. It was all going well until dinner, then I overshot. Oops! Let's say it's a learning experience. I have no regrets: it was only one meal, and it was all healthy stuff, just lots of it.

Wow! 400 under is a lot! Aren't you hungry? I'd be ready to eat my husband and kids.

I'd be genuinely fascinated to know what my daily calorie intake was before I started counting. There's no way I'd have called that a particularly big meal, and I'd probably have followed it up with several evening snacks. Even without sticking to budget my habits are way better than they were.

Heygirlheyboy · 24/09/2020 21:49

Exactly. I know from counting the days I succumbed (pre Chatty Man) that I was putting away over 1000 cals in junk a few times a week but my meals weren't as decent as now. And I think again now my cals have gone up, don't forget I'm just shy of 1700 a day now that I need to do the same again in terms of upping the portions and increasing variety within meals to hit my target. It's still a supposed half pound a week loss. Let's see. Looking forward to including more, eating bigger portions say at dinner. That said I think I'll leave myself around the 1250 at this stage and I'll have extra if I want it for Friday takeaway as such. JS would probably not approve but I haven't had a restrictive day and it seems strange to sit down at 10pm purposely to eat more!!

Heygirlheyboy · 24/09/2020 22:30

twitter.com/SyattFitness/status/1309216636986109953?s=19 Good night from me and Jordan! Grin

Octopus37 · 25/09/2020 07:06

9st0.75 this morning, as ever I'm not in the head space for it really cause I'm stressed and low on energy My Dad is ill (chest infection we think). Managed to temporarily register him with a GP here. Hoping it doesn't escalate. Have realised (as has he) that he is at the care home stage rather than the sheltered accommodation stage.

IDontMindMarmite · 25/09/2020 08:27

According to the scales this morning i've lost 2 stone now. I did give blood yesterday evening so i think it's probably that which has tipped the scales Grin. And I felt a bit funny this morning so had a bigger breakfast than usual.

Happy Fri yay everyone!

Heygirlheyboy · 25/09/2020 08:37

The fact that he has acknowledged it is massive octopus, thinking of you.

8st 9.25 this AM and I have a big day mentally ahead. I notice I have got discipline back into my life for the first time in years. I mean table is set for breakfast the night before, lunches are made and in fridge, little life admin jobs are done quickly. I think it's because of the discipline around food and it is becoming automatic so no willpower involved if that makes sense. Wish me luck today.

Monochrome4 · 25/09/2020 10:18

@Octopus37 Lots of hugs!

Monochrome4 · 25/09/2020 10:34

@Heygirlheyboy Go you! That sounds awesome.

I've hovered around the same weight for two weeks now, after I was doing so well the previous month. Time to start being stricter about actually sticking to budget. But first, this weekend is a break because we're going away- whoopee! I have no intention of dieting while we're away, but we're planning on doing lots of walking so fingers crossed I won't get too much of a nasty surprise when I step on the scales Monday morning.

Octopus37 · 25/09/2020 11:52

Thanks Monochrome
