Hello

Just where has August gone? People who joined the thread last month are reporting significant losses 👏👍🥇. In 4 short weeks I myself lost 9lbs.

Do you too want to lose weight? Feel fitter? Get healthier? Feel happier?

You’ve come to the right place!

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

Well done on your three stone loss *@TheRealHousewife** Star .

Welcome to all the newbies. I can confirm this is a lovely welcome, kind, supportive bunch of people. bit my tongue at one post and noticed no one acknowledged it but while that might seem mean the post wasn't in the spirit.

This morning I was determined to run. I had a 20km ride on my exercise bike yesterday to check my knee and today - drum roll please - I ran 8km!!!! Shame at the end I tripped over my own foot in the excitement at not only running my furthest but being back in time to see dh before he left for work Grin. Thankfully my car saved me as dh did not grab me.

Weight wise

August 1st - 11 stone 13.4
September 2nd - 11 stone 9.8

I was really pleased as my lowest in years but seeing it written down if doesn't seem that impressive Sad. Some pounds were lost twice .

I pinched the fasting app that *@TheRealHousewife** mentioned and it is brilliant as I don't want the shame of stopping the app. I find I am stopping eating earlier than I was (8.30pm before, now around 7pm) and as I am doing IF I don't eat until lunch. Yesterday was very busy so not until 2 but I've just finished eating now. Portion size smaller. I felt sick after my run so that might be my limit for now but we'll see.

Have a good afternoon everyone. Tomorrow DS2 goes back to school .

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 02/09/2020 13:38

8km jeez Louise @SunshineCake that's phenomenal!

I did day 2 of couch 2 5 k today Grinhad to take a bit of a break for the other exercise programme as my shoulders screaming and no way will it handle planks and boxing jabs and such.

fallfallfall · 02/09/2020 15:28

The PA strike through really is immature, what post was insensitive?
I pretty much have read them all, was it my foodie offer?

SunshineCake · 02/09/2020 15:37

Well done *@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50. You'll be running at least 5K before you know it!

Ouch *@fallfallfall. It wasn't a post by any of the regulars or new joiners nor was it yours.

MislaidMyBrain · 02/09/2020 18:12

Glad to see everyone’s getting going. It’s weird as I feel like I’ve eaten too much today. I’ve done my calorie count and it comes to around 1100 which is still low but I was hoping to stick to 800 for a few weeks.
That’ll teach me to just guess and eat when I don’t need to. I had a large avocado just because I wanted to keep eating, even though I wasn’t hungry. Really need to stop that.
Apart from that, it was a chicken and chick pea stew (large portion), a nectarine and a bit of cheese.
I’m keeping up with my yoga and walking and I’ve started to do some face yoga so I can limit the aging effect of losing weight in 40’s!

chutneypig · 02/09/2020 18:23

Glad to hear your car saved you @SunshineCake! Not what you want at the end of a run but that’s a good chunk of distance after the ride yesterday.

I’m with you on the eating when not hungry @MislaidMyBrain. I’m finding the IF is helping with that.

I started my 30 days of yoga this morning and loved that. I completely failed to start my run programme this evening though a must watch wouldn’t sync the plan. I see an evening of tech support ahead of me!

MrsJonesAndMe · 02/09/2020 18:37

Hi girls, my body and brain is mush, so I've skimmed but not retained much.

Well done @SunshineCake and you too @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 for the running.

You have done well in your losses though I understand the frustration sunshine

Hoping to have a bit more free time tomorrow. Take care all.

Notasyoungasiwas · 02/09/2020 18:45

Hi all! I've got over six stone to lose. Is this the right thread for me? I lost four stone a few years ago but it's all back on - with a bit extra! I turn 50 next year and I really want to do it this time. I'm feeling tired and flabby and urgh! Really need support - thank you

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 02/09/2020 19:11

Yes @Notasyoungasiwas this is a thread for anyone who's looking to lose a bit of weight. We've got the full range from maintaining to multiple stones to go. It's just a place to encourage, support and vent frustrations.

Some of us do Weigh On Wednesday (WOW) where we do a weekly check in on weight loss, gain or staying the same Grin

SunshineCake · 02/09/2020 19:12

Hi *@Notasyoungasiwas it is the thread for you. We are all different ages and weights with different amounts to lose. Everyone is lovely and supportive and we all love to chat Smile. Welcome and good luck.

worldweary45 · 02/09/2020 19:17

I've survived 2 days at work in terms of the food but exercise is not happening

My routine during lockdown has been to get up, go for a long walk, eat -then start work

I need to leave home usually at 7.30 -I'm not getting up at 5am to exercise, it's just not realistic

Coming home from work my older teens children are wanting my company, I'm tired, and I'm just not motivated to go out (especially tonight as it's raining cats and dogs)

How do you manage work and getting off your backside?

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 02/09/2020 19:25

@worldweary45 I'm really lucky and still WFH so do half an hour of something on my lunch break as it doesn't matter if I'm a sweaty mess when I'm sat on my sofa tapping on my laptop Grin

Anyway you can fit it in in the evening, before you get settled? Or can you take a walk on your lunch, I used to manage about 7000 steps tromping around town to get a sandwich or run some errands.

FancyARoot · 02/09/2020 20:21

Evening! I’ve had an ok first day, ended on 1328 calories.
Is it ok to post a meal diary each evening? Helps me to feel accountable...!

B - weetabix and milk with a cup of tea (250)
L - Tesco diet ready meal, an apple and a slice of chorizo (404)
D - fish, wedges, lots of veg and 2 spoons baked beans (530)
Snacks - banana (81) yogurt ice lolly (63)

Sounds like a lot but I do weigh it all out so hopefully the calories are right!

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 02/09/2020 20:31

Hi @FancyARoot

My meals for today:

B - latte
L - green beans, mushrooms, baby corn, wafer thin chicken, crispy bacon rasher
D - chicken breast, stuffing, 1 small chipolata, gravy and sweetcorn

TheRealHousewife · 02/09/2020 21:13

Evening Ladies

It’s raining cats & dogs here; the garden is benefiting and is looking lush all wet.

@MislaidMyBrain it’s good your tracking your food. Are you doing Dr Michael Mosley Fast800 or free styling your own recipes?

@chutneypig IF super charges any eating regime. It’s good to rest the system of food and it encourages autophagy ... which encourages renewal and regeneration of new healthy cells. It’s so beneficial!

@MrsJonesAndMe Hello 😊 Nice to see you.

@Notasyoungasiwas yes yes and thrice yes this thread is for you! Lovely none judgemental ladies with heaps of advice they are always happy to share. Hop on board.

@worldweary45 Great to hear your on track with your meals. Try not worry about the exercise to much; do what you can when you can. Are you able to leave your desk/work station each hour? Go for a walk to the loos and back ... every bit will help. Perhaps a walk around the block at lunch time.

@FancyARoot great to hear you’ve stuck to plan. Feel free to post your menus, they might give inspiration to others. Sometimes I post mine.

Forgot to add for those whose children have gone back or going back this week ... fingers crossed all goes well and you’re not too lonely.

Notasyoungasiwas · 02/09/2020 21:47

Thanks for the welcome. My first (dreaded) weigh in was on Tuesday morning - will I be able to share my (hopeful) losses on Tuesday instead of Wednesday?

SunshineCake · 02/09/2020 21:57

Of course. You use this thread as you wish. We all do our own thing while doing this together.

MislaidMyBrain · 02/09/2020 22:14

@TheRealHousewife I’m sort of free styling I guess. I’m doing fast 800 in that I’m trying to stick to a low carb diet of around 800 cals but I’m including fruit. I’m not going to be ultra strict about 800 either but don’t want to go over 1200.
Have you stuck to 800 cals?

TheRealHousewife · 02/09/2020 22:33

@MislaidMyBrain I used to freestyle for the first couple of years. Had a huge lengthy plateau that I wanted to get out of, as well as the the recipe rut I’d found myself in.

So I signed up to an online Fast800 programme (on offer at £75.00 for 12 weeks). After doing the online assessment it recommended 5:2 for me as I didn’t have much left to lose. So 2 days a week are 800 and I don’t go over 1200 the remaining 5 days. I only eat 2 meals and day (1 day a week OMAD) in a 6 hour window. 12:30 - 18:30. Kitchen cleaned and closed after last meal.

The Fast800 plan does all the hard work for you; recipes, shopping list, exercise sessions, mindfulness techniques and a learning module. It’s great but the online support it raves about is pants. Mostly the recipes are very tasty, all nutritionally balanced and sustaining.

fallfallfall · 03/09/2020 01:49

of course @Notasyoungasiwas, wednesday's don't work for me either. it's market day so a 5am start. i do weigh myself the other days of the week.
sounds like a good plan @TheRealHousewife, should i get one of those 2-3-4 month long plateau's where the weight just doesn't shift it's good to know there are alternatives.

chutneypig · 03/09/2020 06:03

@worldweary45 that’s a tough schedule to fit exercise in. I run in the mornings but don’t have to leave quite as early as you. I usually walk at lunchtime, used to run as well when I had showers at work. Evenings aren’t my best time.

I can usually manage yoga in the evenings and my teen is doing the 30 days with me - well I’ll see how long that lasts! Do you like HIIT maybe a quick indoor session would give you a boost?

fallfallfall · 03/09/2020 06:50

@worldweary45, Leslie Sansone has some 15 minute exercise videos. Could you fit that in? Maybe even with the teens?

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 03/09/2020 08:14

Oooo conundrum, at the Drs and had to do height/weight check and they're fancy machine puts me at 3 kilos less than my scales.

Which is right?

HereIgoagainagain · 03/09/2020 08:37

Morning all

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 I would think the doctors is the correct weight so you could just use yours as a kilos lost gauge ?

I had an ok day yesterday but I have come down with a stinky cold which is really annoying. So much for hand-washing and social distancing Hmm

Does anyone take vitamins and do you think it makes a difference ? Or am I just going to have more expensive pee ? Grin
