Hello

Just where has August gone? People who joined the thread last month are reporting significant losses 👏👍🥇. In 4 short weeks I myself lost 9lbs.

Do you too want to lose weight? Feel fitter? Get healthier? Feel happier?

You’ve come to the right place!

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

@bellajay I'm really new to it, still on the free trial but I like the app and it makes me log my food, try to get my steps and doesn't seem like a huge time commitment. Your weight loss so far is great! Have you been using it since May? Do you stick to what they suggest calories-wise? I'm slightly ignoring it, it says 1200 but I'm breastfeeding so need extra, and also would struggle on anything less than 1600 normally (when not breastfeeding) so have a target of 2000 calories per day and don't eat back exercise. Have you found the coaching good?

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 That sounds like a great lunch, I'm always looking for new salad ideas without it being boring or too French, and so calorie-laden!

cockroachcrumble12 · 01/09/2020 18:25

Hi can I join started cutting down on food and coke using smaller plates and have lost 7lbs since July 17th. I am a wheelchair user so don't do any exercise. Just cutting down on food. Weighed myself this morning and was 167.3 lbs

SunshineCake · 01/09/2020 19:37

Hi all. Thank you. Feeling a bit better but was very shaky as didn't get to eat until 2pm which meant I had fasted for 19 hours which wasn't the plan. I managed 20 km on the bike to test my knee and stamina. Hoping to run tomorrow but I'll see. I'm very tired. Walked the dog for two hours this morning and she still sulked about getting in the car to go home! Haven't eaten much today. Really feel my appetite is getting smaller.

Your lunch sounds delicious *@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50.

*@MrsJonesAndMe I think the sugar might give you an energy boost but I'd worry you'd then get a crash.

ZebraSpotts · 01/09/2020 21:41

Yey, thanks for new thread.

So this month I'm starting at 227pounds (5ft8).
Down 31 pounds over lockdown. Thrilled about.
From size 22-24, to a size 16 leggings/18 jeans, size 18 top.
Excited to see what Sept brings, but I'm happy with 1-2 pounds a week really.
2pounds a week, and I'll hit my goal by new years.
I've mostly adjusted my diet and been more active.
Sept goal is to really hp the exercise to get healthier and help the rate at which the number on the scale goes down

ZebraSpotts · 01/09/2020 21:42

Good luck to everyone too!
Really hoping we can all be successful towards our goal

AllAboutHallowsEve · 01/09/2020 21:55

Hi everyone. I'm really excited to join this thread. I'm 5ft5 and weigh 20 stone. Dress size 24 to 26. I'm a binge eater with a family history of obesity and type 2 diabetes. My plan is to use MyFitnessPal and work on controlling my binge eating. Good luck everyone!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 02/09/2020 07:05

Start of this weight loss journey was 29/01/2020 at 233lb, BMI 35.4
Last weigh in in August put me at 220lb, BMI 33.4

Today 218lb, BMI 33.1
2lb loss and I'm under 100kg

MirandaWest · 02/09/2020 07:48

Weighed myself this morning and have put on 100g. Which is small but I’ve been doing the same as I’ve been doing recently and everything seems to have stalled.

Starting weight 24/6 79.5kg
Current weight 2/9. 70.2kg
Target weight 60kg. Although at the moment anything under 70kg...

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 02/09/2020 07:54

@MirandaWest stalls are normal, I had a couple of weeks with no loss even though I knew I was eating a deficit and doing more exercise. It's demoralising but don't let it make you give up.

Try changing something, have a day where you only drink water no tea/coffee or where you do eat slightly over calories but still good food, then back to the plan. Sometimes your body gets used to what you're doing so you need a short change to reset.

worldweary45 · 02/09/2020 07:56

@MirandaWest

I've been stuck a couple of times where I'll stay the same for a couple of weeks but then have a big loss in week 3

I've taken it as my body just sussing out the calorie deficit and then going 'oh so this is what we are doing now' and then I get a whoosh on the scales

Keep at it Smile

FancyARoot · 02/09/2020 07:58

Ok just weighed in. 56.4kg. I was 54 at the start of lockdown 😭
For the record - I am short and very slight, so what might be ‘light’ for some people looks heavy on me. 54 is in the middle of my healthy BMI.
I’ve got definite rolls now, my clothes are tight and uncomfortable and I WILL get back to 54kg!

MirandaWest · 02/09/2020 08:18

@worldweary45 @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50

Thank you Smile - I’m not about to give up just yet but feel a bit demoralised. Is also my birthday next week and was hoping to be under 70kg for that. But maybe I will Smile

TaraW20 · 02/09/2020 08:29

Does anyone else move their scales about the floor a few times to make sure their reading is accurate or is it just me 🙈.

Also any yoga people... is the yoga with Adrienne for beginners. I'm intrigued to try it? And does is help with weight loss?

Hope everyone has a good day

TheRealHousewife · 02/09/2020 09:00

Morning WOW’sers

Hope your scales behave themselves and give you a pleasing number 😬

Last week 9st 4lbs
This week 9st 2lbs
BMI 25.2

After 2years 11months I’ve officially lost 3 whole stones. Got about 9lbs to go.

Welcome to the thread @FancyARoot @MirandaWest @AllAboutHallowsEve @cockroachcrumble12 ... You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking to be supported in transforming your life and making sustainable and life long changes. Start small, make the changes habits, add something else. You can do it if you set your mind to it. If you falter we’ll all pull you back on the wagon!

Take care, stay safe

Last time I was slimming I ate 1200 calories every day, no more, and exercised loads. A week and no loss. I was so demoralised. But decided to stick at it....and after another week the weight just fell off.

I don’t know the science, but this seems common. Stick at it!!

TheRealHousewife · 02/09/2020 09:02

@TaraW20 I used too 😅. Now I leave them in the same place for every weigh. That way I get a consistent weigh and can track more accurately over time.

Thanks for the welcome! And well done that’s amazing loss!

Do you do a weekly weigh in on the thread? Or just each to their own?

I’m doing max 1400 calories a day. No extra exercise (I already do a sport a few days a week) as personally I can’t bear doing exercise for exercise’s sake 😂
It worked last time so 🤞🤞

Can’t believe I’ve put it all back on again, didn’t realise until I weighed this morning. But I’ve done it before, and I can do it again!!!

MirandaWest · 02/09/2020 09:05

I was fine at the beginning back in July - is only in the past few weeks it is stalling. But will stick at it Smile

Trisolaris · 02/09/2020 09:50

Hi everyone!

I’m back from holiday and up a kg Shock Back to 60.2kg

Can’t say I regret it though, I had a great time.
Back on the diet and luckily it was a non quarantine country so I can get back on the exercise and healthy eating now and will get back sub 60 soon!

TheRealHousewife · 02/09/2020 09:52

Thank you @FancyARoot. These threads have been running over a year now and in that time Weigh On Wednesday (WOW) became a thing. I generally weigh each day, occasionally miss a day. I’m not obsessive about it, I just like to know where my body is at. Some people don’t like daily weigh ins and might just weigh month beginning/end then once a week on Wednesday. No rules, do what you know works for you.

@MirandaWest I’m sure you’ve heard it before but weight loss isn’t linear. There are many factors that affect weight/loss/gain/stall etc. The main ones being general health & activity, medications, hormones, fat/muscle ratio/sleep quality etc. Try to track each week and hopefully you’ll see a downward trend. In my own journey I had about a year long stall where I was losing/gaining the same 7 or so lbs. In my case it turned out to be autoimmune thyroid disease (now medicated). Now steadily losing again. Even when in my year long stall I kept on it. I’m sure if I hadn’t I’d be stones heavier.

Hi @Trisolaris welcome back, great to hear you enjoyed your hols. Not a big gain for so much pleasure ... you’ll soon squash that gain 👍

Can I join in please?

I have a lot to lose but I need to start somewhere.

My plan today will be to drink more water and get out for a walk and also to watch what I eat.

FancyARoot · 02/09/2020 10:00

Oh I didn’t realise it was so long running!! :) well done everyone!
I’ll report back on Wednesday then.....but I too weigh every day!

Katiepants27 · 02/09/2020 10:22

Hi,

Please can I join? Recently lost a stone, then stupidly put half of it straight back on again...

I really need to lose a total of 18lbs, and I'm giving myself until Christmas to do it. I'd like to aim for half a stone/7lbs by the end of September.

So, current weight is 165lbs on the dot. I like to weigh every morning as I find the fluctuations easier to understand. Hopefully posting here every day will help keep me accountable as well.

I'm already very active, so my method is simply going to be tracking calories on MyFitnessPal.

MirandaWest · 02/09/2020 10:23

@TheRealHousewife thank you 😊 I have been tracking every week since 24th June and overall is downwards (with an increase when we went away, followed by a decrease). Has just been the last few weeks it doesn’t want to shift!

I’ve never had to actively lose weight before but weighed myself at the end of June to find I weighed as much as when I was 9 months pregnant. As the Dc are 16 and 14 this wasn’t good and so I’ve been calorie counting and ramping up exercise Smile
