Hello

Just where has August gone? People who joined the thread last month are reporting significant losses 👏👍🥇. In 4 short weeks I myself lost 9lbs.

Do you too want to lose weight? Feel fitter? Get healthier? Feel happier?

You’ve come to the right place!

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

Evening!

Forever I’m a fellow horse-er too! What comp were you meant to be doing? Hope the horse is ok!

I’ve been dieting for nearly 48 hours now and I’m still not thin but I’ll stick at it 😂

Today’s meals:
B - muller corner
L - soup
D - jacket potato
Snack - tea, apple, small bag animal biscuits

Total - 1347

So. Hungry.

Hope everyone’s had a good day. Thanks again for letting me join! :)

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 03/09/2020 21:20

@FancyARoot if you like them try chucking some mushrooms or greenbeans into your meal. A cup of mushrooms is about 20 calories, a cup of green beans is about 35. I just chop them up, put them in a jug with a dash of water, cover with clingfilm and blitz in the microwave for 2.5 - 3 mins dependant on how you like them. Drain, season and if you like add a little real butter. 1 tsp is 35 calories.

They bulk out your meal, fill you up and make eating take a bit longer so you feel more satisfied.

They make a lovely warm salad if you cook those, slice up some wafer thin chicken, add a little pre-cooked bacon and some raw finely chopped spring onions, then toss it all together and it's enough for me to get from lunch to dinner without having to snack.

FancyARoot · 03/09/2020 21:27

Ooh that’s a great idea thank you!!! Love mushrooms and green beans, I’d never thought of that!

worldweary45 · 03/09/2020 21:50

Lunch out today at Wagamama's and I've still kept in my calories

Go me... go me....

It's actually dangerously close to work so it's a good job I generally only get half an hour for lunch!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 03/09/2020 23:02

Well done @worldweary45!

Forgot to mention and I was so happy about it this morning, but for the first time in years, when I had my blood pressure checked this morning it was only bloody normal.

Usually they need to do it 2 or 3 times and the final result it at the top of the threshold just below where they medicate but today 129/85.

RubySlippers77 · 03/09/2020 23:38

I went away unexpectedly for the bank holiday weekend (DP got the time off, decided we should all go camping - it was freezing!!) and haven't got back into my weight loss headspace yet... but thank you for the new thread @TheRealHousewife!

I haven't RTFT yet but hope everyone is well Smile my DC are finally back at school this week and I'm hoping to make a proper start from Sept 14th; gives me a week to sort out my exercise plan, do a food shop and meal plan, organise the DC's after school exercise etc. I'm determined that they'll be active kids as they're definitely going to be tall and broad, and although school are doing as much outdoor activity as they can with them, all organised sport is off. They're a bit young for Beavers etc but I'll keep looking for similar groups.

I'm also hoping to do some studying and look for some part time work, nothing too committed whilst the DC are small, maybe admin or PA work. In my head I am a sexy Robin from Strike, although the reality is more like Lynn from Alan Partridge Grin

Great news about your blood pressure @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50!

fallfallfall · 03/09/2020 23:41

Nice @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50
Well done @worldweary45
All’s well in my neck of the woods! The office of the Member of Parliament called and has said my concerns (and neighbors) have been heard loud and clear. That the process we followed was correct and that she wouldn’t be surprised if the office no longer needed to be involved. Coded words very carefully chosen but encouraging.
98 minutes of exercise and it’s not yet 4pm.
Food: B toast egg and 1/2 peach
L corn on the cob with watermelon
D HOT spicy chicken with a whole load of green salad. Not sure what dressing is best to cut the heat? Lemon ginger or lemon Dijon mustard or poppyseed?

worldweary45 · 04/09/2020 07:44

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50
Excellent news on the blood pressure front!

@fallfallfall definitely something acidic to cut through spice -lemon and ginger sounds nice but depends on how warm the ginger is -it can intensify some other spices

Oooo I love cooking, just a shame my teenagers are a pair of philistines who would just eat pasta and dolmio sauce everyday if they could and my oldest probably will once she goes to uni

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 04/09/2020 09:29

I've lost 3lbs this week! MFP works for me! I'm so happy! But... back to work Sat night, need to develop a will of steel not to snack through the night Confused

Sazlock · 04/09/2020 09:46

Hello - am I too late to join in ?
Been a long, long time since I used to be active on here so have started a new account !
I’m 5 ft 6 and obese, closer to 50 than 40 and ready to change.
Post menopause am finding it even harder to lose weight.
Trying IF and thinking about fast 800. Trying to fit more activity in and have got a trainer each week.
Kids back in school as of next week so it’s the right time.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 04/09/2020 10:17

Hi @Sazlock it's never to late to join in!

Just remember to take it slow, why not try logging everything you eat and drink for a few days at normal levels, be really meticulous and weigh things out. Then you'll be able to see where your problem areas are and what to tackle first.

I know that carbs are my downfall and sweet coffee drinks are the real killer. So now if I want a coffee drink I know I need to sacrifice elsewhere to keep my luxury while saving my waistline Grin

I think a few of us have also found that the old saying 'idle hands are the devils playground' is true and now do things like colouring or knitting to stop us reaching for the biscuit tin.

Katiepants27 · 04/09/2020 12:08

Oh dear. Weighed myself this morning and 2lbs heavier. Obviously not the idea of this whole thing.

Well I clearly need to pull myself up by my bootstraps and give myself a good talking to.

Going to give it my all for the rest of September! Everyone else seems to be off to a good start.

MislaidMyBrain · 04/09/2020 12:48

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 that’s fab news. Losing weight is all about improving our health too.

@dexterslockedintheshedagain well done on your loss. Good start to September.

I’m so pleased today as I’ve just dropped into the overweight category from obese. I need to lose about 20lbs now to drop into the healthy weight category. Seems like a slog but I’m absolutely determined this time.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 04/09/2020 12:50

@Katiepants27 remember there's lots of things that can affect your weight on a daily basis, lots of salt the day before, time of the month or even building muscle.

Look back at your recent diet and see if you have followed your plan, if not readjust, if you have then just keep slugging and weigh again in a few days. Today could be a blip or just a call to refocus.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 04/09/2020 14:00

Gasping, sweaty mess reporting in. Just finished week 1 c25K, went to a different park not thinking about hills. May never breathe normally again and I think one of my legs just fell off.

fallfallfall · 04/09/2020 15:16

Oh @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50, you made me chuckle out loud. Oddly enough the leg reattaches itself despite the maltreatment perceived and the lungs are secretly happy you’ve given them a good clean out.
And the brain! Thanks to the rapid blood flow has had a few dementia cells flushed away!
Well done.

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 04/09/2020 15:58

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 you made me chuckle, too!
Well done on your exertions!
I'm making cupcakes again Confused

SunshineCake · 04/09/2020 17:24

Hi everyone and welcome to more newbies Smile.

*@Katiepants27 don't fret. On a previous thread I had lots of tantrums as I felt like I was the only one not losing much and at times was going up and down like a bloody yo yo. It will come. I'm almost a stone down since May. Need to lose 0.8lb to reach that target.

You made me laugh *@FancyARoot as I have said similar about trying really hard for a smallish amount of time and still wasn't thin! It will come.

I can really see a difference with me now and actually, along with therapy, I am really getting the old me back and starting to feel a new, never seen before, confidence in my body and myself.

I got up before 6.10 and was out running by 6.19 according to my app. I ran for one hour and 58 seconds and did 8.14km. Really pleased but not sure how it will work in the future as I can't wake up DH at six every day and realised today when I got home from walking the dog I don't want to run after walking her. I was up early due to dh having to get up but this isn't what normally happens.

SunshineCake · 04/09/2020 17:26

Well done *@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50! When I run up a hill and it is horrible I tell myself it is good for thighs....

Trisolaris · 04/09/2020 19:27

Well, I tried another run today but then got a panicked call part way through from dp because the cat had made her way onto the roof and couldn’t get down (she has three legs and is only allowed into the garden supervised).

I (sort of) ran back to the house, rescued the cat and now have a pulled muscle in my thigh for the pleasure.

In summary, I’m grumpy and in pain whilst twat cat is feeling needy and getting lots of cuddles and reassurance from dp!

Foreverlexicon · 04/09/2020 20:17

@FancyARoot defo pack in the veggies! It was eventing, she was very off in the warm ups but still jumped clear SJ but I retired xc as she just wasn’t herself. Had physio today and was all sore down 1 side so think she must of slipped in the field during the thunder storms. I’ve had her 7 years and know her inside out so I’m not at all surprised! What about you, do you have a horse?

Thread is moving very quickly and hard to catch up on it all on my phone but well done everyone, sounds like people are really getting their exercise in!

I’ve finally pulled it together. I was very tired and very grumpy yesterday and ate too much and did no exercise. Finally caught up with sleep and a much better day today;

B - fruit and fibre cereal
L - ham and cheese wrap, cheese sticks
S - apple
D - beef stew with dumplings
S - chocolate
E - an hour of various cardio at the gym

Gordonsgrin · 04/09/2020 22:05

I love this thread but it will take me a while to get to grips with who’s who. I like the food logging so this is my day
Don’t do brekkie
L: corn cakes with cucumber, marmite, cottage cheese
D: salad and dhal
Drinks: tea, coffe, apple and pear fizzy drink (fizzy drink because I have given up alcohol).
I have done week 3 r1 of c25k and feeling proud because I have not been feeling well today and could easily given it a miss.

RubySlippers77 · 04/09/2020 23:17

Well done to everyone on the running! I'm hoping to re-start C25K once the DC are properly back at school. I'm finding it really hard to continue with any healthy eating with DP around - he fusses and faffs so much and ignores the DC till they're going loopy trying to get his attention - but he is back at work Monday

FancyARoot · 04/09/2020 23:23

I’m finding it hard to keep up on the phone too! But I have read through and well done to everyone having successes! I’m ignoring the mentions of baking 😂😂

I’ve got a few horses...(!) but I’ve two children that ride too. Only one that I ride. He’s a 4 year old and I’m hoping to get him out doing some BE80s and end on a 90 next year. I’ve done quite a bit in my younger days (mostly PN....as it was!) but had a break and lost my nerve! So should be fun on a green 4 year old but there we are 😂
Hope yours is ok!!

I was doing really well today until someone came to visit with cake. I didn’t even want any but couldn’t refuse as they’d bought a slice specially for me. So ended on 1585 rather than the 1250 I should have but hey ho.

B - weetabix
L - lentil soup and sandwich thin
D - homemade veg curry with a mini naan
S - tea, fruit and flipping (lovely) cake!

Here’s hoping I’ll be 10 pounds lighter by the morning after my three days hard work 🤞🤞

FancyARoot · 04/09/2020 23:24
