Hello

Just where has August gone? People who joined the thread last month are reporting significant losses 👏👍🥇. In 4 short weeks I myself lost 9lbs.

Do you too want to lose weight? Feel fitter? Get healthier? Feel happier?

You’ve come to the right place!

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

Great weight loss, I've also dropped two dress sizes since November. I just went to gym 5 times a week, got a personal trainer. Since COVID I've left gym,now cycling and recently bought myself some boxing gloves

Mammyloveswine · 01/09/2020 07:15

I'm definitely up for it! Planning on cutting the wine to just a Friday night and Sunday lunch time (I love Sunday lunch and won't be giving up that!).

Going to do the 5:2/16:8 and fast on Monday and Thursday..

Back to the gym 3 times a week plus walking 15,000 steps a day.

No gimmicks, no food off limits, just lots of veg and protein, some fruit and good fats. The odd treat.

Aiming for a stone off by the of September, 2.5 in total by Christmas. That'll take me to around 10.5 stone and back into my target range.

Ideally I want to be 9 stone 10!

LyndaR49 · 01/09/2020 07:37

Hi Guys
You don't need gyms,I get on my bike every other day about 6 in the morning 🤗

Mana89 · 01/09/2020 07:39

@Mammyloveswine I now live in a country that doesn't 'do' Sunday lunch. I would do terrible things to have a nice Sunday lunch in a country pub, with a big glass of wine (or two), after a long walk. Wine

@fallfallfall Ouch, that sounds very painful. But, impressive that you've been able to maintain an over 'loss' position!

FancyARoot · 01/09/2020 07:50

Can I join please??
Got down to my target weight after a new year mumsnet thread (name changed since) but I suspect I’ve put it ALL back on again over lockdown 😭

My scales are broken. New ones arriving today, so I’ll weigh in today and start properly tomorrow. I suspect I’ll have a stone to lose though.

I’ll be doing 1400 calories a day.

Good luck everyone!

RooMama · 01/09/2020 07:53

Hi there... I'd like to join too please. I've been very focused since beginning of August and down 12lb. I've got a long way to go though- currently 247lb. Aiming to be below 220lb by end of year then ideally about 180 by end of May which is a big birthday for me. My end goal weight is between 150-160, which for my height is still overweight but I'm on the big boned side and those times are n my life I've been lower than this has been because of unhealthy behaviours.

To achieve results so far I've been aiming for 1200 cal per day (but going as high as 1500 if hungry), cut out sugar and refined carbs except for a square or 6 of 85% dark choc. I've also charged the Fitbit and more aware of how much I'm moving.

Fennelandlovage · 01/09/2020 08:14

Hello, I would like to join you please. This is my first try at loosing weight in years. Has crept up esp this year so probably 20-30lbs to loose to get back to the best me.

Planning to reduce/ get rid carbs, snacks and alcohol. And also to increase walking, yoga and find some cardio I like. I like the sound of the couch to fitness - thanks for the link.

Don’t own a scales so that might be my first investment.

Love eating veggies and Mediterranean style foods to any good recipes welcome.

worldweary45 · 01/09/2020 08:24

Right I'm off out to face the day, I have a bean chilli packed for my lunch and I've measured out some milk to take with me because I get through a lot of coffee at work!

I'm going to stick to 1600 calories, I'm going to stick to 1600 calories.....

TheRealHousewife · 01/09/2020 08:26

Good Morning All

Let’s make it count in September. You’ll be glad you did come the month end. Now the cooler weather is coming home made soups are back on the menu. Filling, nutritious and lower carb. Spicy cauliflower soup is today’s lunch.

@TaraW20 welcome 😊. Loads of free online resources. It depends on your ability and needs. One Person I watch is Leslie Sansone, link in first post. The vids might look easy but boy do they get you lathered. Plus you don’t need any equipment. NHS offer free programmes. There is also a Strength & Flex plan.

@FancyARoot Welcome aboard. You’ll do great. Getting in the right head space helps a lot. Even by this time next week you’ll notice a difference if you get on it.

@RooMama. You’ve done so well in August! 👏 Keep doing what you’re doing as it’s obviously working!

@fallfallfall. How are your hand & ankles now?

Have a great day whatever you’re doing!

I’d love to join, if that’s ok?

I’m not in a good place with my weight, I’ve put on nearly 3 stone in 12 months after two failed IVF attempts during the year followed by lockdown where comfort eating went a bit crazy. The hormones seem to have given me a crazy amount of fat accumulation around the middle, I have no waist anymore.

BMI is 29. Want to get to 25 as my first goal (11st 7). Longer term goal is to get back to 10st 7 which is my healthy, happy and should be sustainable weight.

I’ve been doing really well with exercise this past month, I’ve really ramped it up. Jogging, spinning, weights. But my weight has not shifted a pound. I need a new approach.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 01/09/2020 08:31

Can I please join in not sure what my weight was pre lockdown but after noticing my clothes getting tighter and being congratulated on my pregnancy yesterday I need to gain control!

I've treated the last 6 months as a big holiday so I'm hoping that by cutting out wine in the week, lowering carbs as much as possible it should make a decent difference.

I've downloaded mfp so will log calories, I've weighed myself this morning and I'm 167lbs I'd like to get to 140 or my jeans fitting.

I was really active before lockdown - 3/4 spin sessions, loads of walking and 1 x Pilates.

I've just got a spin bike for at home so will try and make sure I go on it 3/4 times a week, I'm looking for a good beginners online Pilates as well and I'm hoping to be running around a bit more now the kids are back to school.

I'll read up on the intermittent fasting as I'm quite happy to go without breakfast.

TheRealHousewife · 01/09/2020 08:34

@Fennelandlovage cross posted... welcome 😊 You’ve pledged to get healthier and that a good start. The links in the first post have some recipes. Depending if you can afford it or not there are some good recipe books out there. The Fast 800 Recipe book isn’t bad. Tried to link but it was the most massive link ever!

@worldweary45 Good idea to measure your milk out ... it soon adds up! Enjoy your day.

TheRealHousewife · 01/09/2020 08:38

@Fennelandlovage What I would say is try to make 1 or 2 small changes to start, make them habits, then add another change ... repeat as necessary. Don’t overwhelm yourself as that’s when you can chuck the towel in. If you do fall off the wagon ... just get back on, it’s not the end of the world. These are lifestyle changes that’ll be with you for life.

@Youngatheart00 You are most welcome to join us. Sorry to hear about your IVF journey so far. Well done on upping your exercise. Sending a unmumsnetty hug. Be kind to yourself.

@ranoutofquinoaandprosecco Welcome. All the things you’ve outlined will help you get where you want to be. You will do it if you really want to. I started at 170lbs. Now I’m at 128.8lbs ... still have about a stone to go. Barely 5ft and petite framed so can’t carry any excess without it showing. Mine hasn’t been a quick journey due to disability and thyroid disease. By the 1st October it will be 3 years. That’s 1stone a year on average. If I hadn’t started and made the changes I needed too to reverse the trend I do believe I’d be in excess of 16 stone now. You can do it 👍

Morning everyone. Weighed myself this morning and I’m 11st 8lbs. Last week I was 12st exactly so I’m pleased with the loss so far. I know it’s mostly water weight at this stage but it’s still good.
I need to be below 10st for my height so that’s my first goal.
I’ve done my daily yoga (yoga by Adrienne) I’ve had some lemon water. I hope everyone has a good day.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 01/09/2020 09:31

Sorry for the TMI, embarrassing question here guys but I need some low carb, low cal foods I can add quickly to my diet to sort out constipation. Turns out high protein, low carb means not going to the loo and I'd rather not take laxatives if I can help it. I would have though a daily live yoghurt would help but apparently not and I think this may be the reason my scales are not moving. Grrrr

Thank you!

Fennelandlovage · 01/09/2020 09:33

Thank you @TheRealHousewife - I appreciate your support already. This is def new to me but I do really want to make a slow but lasting ch age rather than a quick fix so your words are bang on. Smile

TheRealHousewife · 01/09/2020 09:46

Nothing worse @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 ... have you tried psyllium husk powder. You could wiz it into a yoghurt smoothie with some fresh strawberries. You need to up your liquid too as it adds bulk. If that fails inulin powder can work for some. Fibre fibre and more fibre can help plus fluid. Fingers crossed for a successful splash down 🤞

Great progress @MislaidMyBrain 👏

You’re welcome @Fennelandlovage 👍

Just a shaky hello

Still feeling off but hoping to not have to do too much more today and hoping I'll be up and running tomorrow.

Welcome to everyone.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 01/09/2020 14:26

Hi @SunshineCake hope you feel better soon.

I had a really delicious 204 calorie lunch today. Just lots of greenbeans and mushrooms steamed in the microwave, with thinly sliced sandwich chicken and a rasher of ready cooked crispy bacon crumbled on top then some thin sliced spring onions and plenty of black pepper. Really tasty. Need to remember it for another day.

MrsJonesAndMe · 01/09/2020 15:59

Lots of water @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 and prune juice or prunes are meant to be good.

Hi all, there are a lot of new faces and my brain is mush, so just a big welcome and waves to you all.

Hope you're feeling better by tomorrow @SunshineCake

Thanks @fallfallfall but really it's just my low energy which leads me to rely on sugar/carbs to get through and my low mood which equals comfort eating. I know what I should be doing.

For whoever asked, I do Walk at home with Leslie and Yoga with Adrienne. Have also done Joe Wicks, but find him irritating Blush

fallfallfall · 01/09/2020 16:47

@TheRealHousewife, both ankles are strong thanks to leslie and the lateral motion steps :). the hand is okay, a bit of an unusual grip and the finger wanders a bit. but functional and pain free.
i will however have the ankle hardware (plate and 7 screws) removed in the near future. i'm booked and just waiting, the dr said most likely november.
as hoped 147.6 this am!

fallfallfall · 01/09/2020 16:49

Bean sprouts for breakfast, on homemade organic spelt bread.

That looks delish @fallfallfall. Pleased to hear you’ve mended well! Fingers crossed for November.

Your lunch sounds relatively substantial for those calories. I’m putting that meal in the recipe bank 😬 Thank you for sharing.

@SunshineCake hope you feel better soon.

@TheRealHousewife, one slice of bread, buttered, one boiled egg, 1/3 of a tomato and the sprouts.
I take a multivits to cover anything I might miss out on.
