Hello

Just where has August gone? People who joined the thread last month are reporting significant losses 👏👍🥇. In 4 short weeks I myself lost 9lbs.

Do you too want to lose weight? Feel fitter? Get healthier? Feel happier?

You’ve come to the right place!

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

DD refusing to talk to me, refused dinner and said she's not eating tea any more. Was so rude and unfair again when I picked her up from school. DH said just leave her. I feel like she uses not eating as a control thing as she knows how much it bothers me when she doesn't eat as she knows I wasn't fed as a kid. I don't know what to do.

Thanks *@MrsJonesAndMe. I hope the next few months aren't as bad as you fear.

Mplace marking to return when I have time

FatGirlShrinking · 23/09/2020 20:03

@MrsJonesAndMe , @TheRealHousewife and anyone else feeling the lockdown blues I offer unto you many a virtual hug

It does all feel a little dark and gloomy, but we'll get through it and find a way to make it cheery. I'm really looking forward to a small Xmas this year, no expectations to do a big family get together, just me, DH and DD. We may go full on whack a doodle crazy and make it a tropical Xmas with a bbq in the back garden, or a Chinese feast, or a 70s kids party buffet.

Just took my measurements and I am a little flustered and surprised. My wardrobe is all elasticated and jersey so it shrinks or grows with me but I have noticed my trousers and knickers in particular threatening to fall down over the last few days which was fun on the school run 😆

Change since Beginning of August

Bust: - 3"
Waist: -4"
Hips: -4"

@SunshineCake I know your Kids are a little older than my DD (6yo) but this week has been hard. She is so tired, been back at school a month now and I think after a 6 month break it's hitting her how much more intense school is than home learning.

SunshineCake · 23/09/2020 22:20

Yes, my dd is 17 but this behaviour is typical her. Nothing to do with tiredness just her being a difficult child. She has answered me when I spoke to her and has eaten noodles so I'll take that. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

FatGirlShrinking · 24/09/2020 07:52

TaraW20 · 24/09/2020 08:01

My struggle is the dozen Krispy Kreme donuts are more appealing than the weight loss 😭🤣

MrsJonesAndMe · 24/09/2020 12:21

I hear you @TaraW20 Grin

Sorry you're struggling with DD @SunshineCake it's hard when they're not an easy personality and of course they're yours so no getting away from it Wink

DS also tired @FatGirlShrinking but handles it a bit better now he's a bit older.

Hope you're OK @fallfallfall and @Foreverlexicon Haven't seen you for a while.

fallfallfall · 24/09/2020 15:46

Hi @MrsJonesAndMe, all is well. The quick business trip was pleasurable I ventured into a lovely shop and tried on jeans...real sizes vs SML sizing yoga pants, updated my iPhone and had a visits with SIL, sons gf, and youngest DS. Fall colors, combines at work and hay coming in in the prairies.
Only one bag of wine gums in the vehicle no crisps at all (usually a long haul road trip staple). Exercise was impossible, which was fine as my muscles had been worked hard the week before. My glutes were retaining water from squats...the Leslie videos include squats...
Anyway wt. is on track 5 down so far this month, aiming for 6. Have lowered my goal from normal BMI to 130lbs (since I’m very close to normal BMI with a significant jelly belly).
Kids, Covid, and calories. I know it’s challenging but we can get through this together.
DD was hair raisingly difficult!! My colleagues were shocked and amused regularly by her antics. Lots of prayers were needed for that one! I found her having snuck to LAS VEGAS, eventually tracked her with USA border security who thankfully returned her ESCORTED ON THE PLANE back to Canada. Then there was Columbia....by then my nerves were properly accustomed to regular doses of adrenaline. And my body to stress eating.

Trisolaris · 24/09/2020 23:05

Hi all,

Sounds like a lots been going on here but that people have been doing well in spite of some challenges.

My week has been hectic but my exam is now out the way and today I did week 6 run 2 of C25k so I’m feeling more cheerful.

SunshineCake · 25/09/2020 06:50

Well done *@Trisolaris. I'm just planning when to run as rain is forecast so it's a case of run in the rain or walk the dog in the rain or both. I plan to do 10km again today and then take the weekend off to properly rest my knee.

moonbells · 25/09/2020 09:33

Hi all
Have come to the conclusion I had a classic whoosh last week, as my weight loss is now back to normal, ie it's happening. I don't agree with the biochemistry that people say is the reason for whooshes (medical scientist hat on) but can't disagree that they happen for whatever reason.
65.7kg this morning, just under 10st 5 and exactly BMI 23. Last night did a fast 5k run, managed 2.5k at 9.5km/h then the rest at between 8.5 and 9.5 so time was 33min. Really pleased with that as it's getting closer to my better Parkrun times (PB 29:55 when I was 9st 6 so still a fair bit to go there on both fronts!). Got a bit of a pulled core muscle though. I run on a foldable treadmill (my best lockdown investment!) so not at the mercy of darkness or rain.

Sunday due to be a 12.2k long run going by the add 10% a week rule. Will have to see if I feel like a pseudo Parkrun tomorrow morning.

Happy Friday all!

SunshineCake · 25/09/2020 12:07

Hi everyone

Just back from a run. I thought I ran the same instance but in a different order but it didn't give me the distant I needed at the end of the main road to then make 10km once home so I ran down the slip road and today's run was 10.25km. Also my turn for a whoosh I think as I've lost 2.6lbs since last Friday and I am the lower than my lowest I can recall which was in 2011.

*@moonbells. Well done. My pace average today was 7:45 and my pace max was 5:06 but while I'm embarrassed I'm so slow I'm proud I can now run 10km.

I'm making a curry, Thai green, from scratch for dinner so off to plan that. I'll do rice and naan for everyone else but I will only have a small spoonful of rice, if any and only a couple of bites of naan.

Happy Friday all Smile.

Trisolaris · 25/09/2020 14:07

That’s great @SunshineCake!

Now you can run 10K you can work on the pace. You definitely have nothing to be embarrassed at though you are a superwoman!

SunshineCake · 25/09/2020 14:47

Thanks *@Trisolaris. I keep a record of speed and some days I do what I think is really good and other times I'm slower but tbh I am still just too chuffed I can run 10km. For now that is my limit. I'm not aiming for 11km just yet. Going faster is definitely a mental block issue at the moment as I ran faster on Wednesday when the army were clapping and cheering me on Grin.

Trisolaris · 25/09/2020 19:02

I just did my first 25 minute continuous run (w6 R3 of C25k). I managed 4.13km in that time so I’m feeling more confident about getting to the 5k in 30 mins by the end of the program!

SunshineCake · 25/09/2020 20:01

That's great. Well done!

Galvantula · 25/09/2020 22:02

Sorry, as usual life getting in the way. Blush

I looked back at the thread and my weights.

1st August:60.3 kg
31st August: 59.2 kg
3rd September 59.0kg
9th September 58.9 kg
11th September 58.5 kg
18th September 58.9kg

This week I'm sitting at 57.9kg, so still very gradually getting towards my randomly-set-5-years-ago target of 56kg, round about the middle of the healthy weight range for my height. This is almost the lowest I've made it before (about 4 times 🤦).

Hoping that the fact I'm feeling a lot more hopeful and positive will mean I'm able to kick the comfort eating that always messed it up when life got hard.

I was worried about a lot that I'd read about ADHD stimulant medication affecting people's appetites, but it doesn't appear to be a problem for me 😂

Now that I have a glass of Wine I'm going to try and catch up on what you've been up to.

Hope you all have a good weekend :)

TheRealHousewife · 26/09/2020 08:06

@Galvantula Well done, that is solid progress. Respect!

OP posts:
rivierliedje · 26/09/2020 08:47

@Trisolaris That's a great feeling isn't it, when you get to the long runs. I've done the first 28 minute run, which got me over the 5k mark (including the 5minute warm up walk) which felt good.
I'm off to work by bicycle today, it is so sunny and cold out and really beautiful, so I'm going to enjoy that.
Weigh in tomorrow with measurements and trying on of the trousers I want to fit in to!

@Galvantula that is amazing progress when nearing your goal.

FatGirlShrinking · 26/09/2020 09:44

You're all doing so well!

@SunshineCake and @Trisolaris I can't even imagine being able to jog/run as long as you two can, it's so impressive to me!

@Galvantula I'm really glad the meds are working for you and you're so close to goal, doing brilliantly.

I'm still hopping on the scale daily waiting for that magic moment I'm under 200lb, it's so close now, I'm 208lb, I could be there in 3 weeks I think if I just stick to plan and keep up the exercise.

Had a really shit week at work, someone I truly dislike working with has been promoted and is now my direct manager so that's been difficult, and while it has been challenging I am proud that I haven't slipped into old habits and reached for the chocolate.

MrsJonesAndMe · 26/09/2020 11:35

Wow, some good stuff and a hair raising tale @fallfallfall How old was she to sneak off to Vegas???? Shock

I haven't put batteries in the scales and another week of about 19 miles walked and precious little else done in terms of good eating or exercise... but I'm still here. Want to do a nice yoga stretch this evening.

Take care all x

SunshineCake · 26/09/2020 14:27

*@FatGirlShrinking I can only do it as I started slowly with C25k. Still shocked I can run 10km though.

fallfallfall · 26/09/2020 16:58

Slow and steady @Galvantula!
@MrsJonesAndMe, get the batteries in place. You can do this. Give yourself credit for walking that will undoubtably help.
I remember how hard life seemed with work and children. The me time I carved out often wasn’t spent on physical exercise as they/life drained me to the core.
DD was older by Vegas, had survived Columbia, and was living at my mothers as she needed help in many ways. She put us through a lot, oddly enough the worst of it only started when she left home for Uni. Without accountability she went a tad bit rogue. Teenage lip and attitude was at a typical/borderline acceptable level. Either way traumatic for our relationship.

Here’s LOSE IT! October 2020 thread.

This year is going by so fast ... considering C19 that’s not such a bad thing.

Hope you’re all enjoying your weekend.

Good Morning Lovelies

Not long left for the September challenge. I for one am going all out as I’d like to see a small loss rather than a maintain for the month.

Welcome to the new comers and it’s great to see our regular posters still posting too. @SunshineCake I think you’re one of the original founding members and I seen you accomplish many personal goals. That’s inspiring, well bloody done! 🏅👏⭐️.
