Hello

Just where has August gone? People who joined the thread last month are reporting significant losses 👏👍🥇. In 4 short weeks I myself lost 9lbs.

Do you too want to lose weight? Feel fitter? Get healthier? Feel happier?

You’ve come to the right place!

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

SORRY wrong units. She put on 11lb...

FatGirlShrinking · 18/09/2020 15:17

@moonbells I'd love the 3 months on, how much does she weigh now story once there's no one cooking and planning the meals anymore.

Good day so far today and I did something really extravagant and ordered an Apple Watch. Got some amazon vouchers for my birthday and I've wanted one for ages, they released the new series today and I just though fuck it and bought it. Think my heart stopped for a minute there, haven't spent anywhere near that amount of money on something selfish and just for me in ages.

MirandaWest · 18/09/2020 16:51

I think I did put on around 10kg over lock down (or at least from August 2019 to June 2020). Have lost 11kg now so only around 3kg until I’m not overweight and another 6kg until I’m the weight I’d like to be

myfuckingfreezer · 19/09/2020 08:32

I weighed in this morning after a very virtuous day :)

169 pounds! Finally dropped under 170 for the first time in over 5 years. So that's 56 pounds lost this year.

Just wish I hadn't wasted the last 2 months maintaining after averaging about 10 pounds a month loss!

FatGirlShrinking · 19/09/2020 08:38

Congratulations @myfuckingfreezer

I'm hopping on the scales every morning at the moment waiting for the moment I drop below 210lb and excited about the prospect of entering Onderland (into the 100s) at some point in the near future.

FatGirlShrinking · 19/09/2020 12:45

Just really fancied a fry up so had a low cal version for lunch.

1 fried egg
4 slices of fried wafer thin ham
4 cherry tomatoes, halved and fried to caramelised goodness
Mushrooms
Used the fry light spray and a good non stick pan so came in at under 200 calories and satisfied the craving.

moonbells · 20/09/2020 09:52

Ahhh - it's finally dropping again. Have made a concerted effort this week to avoid lots of carbs especially in the evening meal, and either it was that or it's the right time for the plateau to buzz off.
I've lost 2.9lb so far this week after weeks of half a pound - biggest drop since my initial water loss. Hurrah!

10st 7 now. Wasn't being too optimistic after all! Smile One stone to go. (I ought to say I'm just shy of 5'7" so that takes me to a BMI of just over 21.)

FatGirlShrinking · 20/09/2020 14:24

Spent the morning playing with my new watch and doing some shopping in town. Hated town, shops are just miserable now, none of them seemed to have much in the way of new stock and they've all shifted their layouts to enable SD in such a way as to make it hard to find anything.

Today I had a sandwich for lunch, used the little mini loaf of bread so only small slices but first time I've eaten bread in a couple of weeks. It was Ok, was looking forward to it but when it came down to it was a bit meh. I think I've got used to having veg for lunch.

TheRealHousewife · 21/09/2020 11:36

Good Morning All

Sorry for being absent ... just got a bit on in rl plus I’ve been somewhat unwell to boot (not c19). Because I’ve not been so active on the thread I feel I’ve lost touch with posters ... sorry.

Anyway I thought I’d share my lunch soup recipe for today. It’s taken from Fast800. It’s really delicious and satisfying and great for those who follow 5:2 or are having themselves a fasting day. I’ll admit I pimp mine up with a spoonful of miso paste and 10g butter (spread over 4 portions it’s an extra 20 cals per portion) I also use a mushroom gluten free stock cube rather than veg. Give it a try if you’re a soupy person, it’s yummy!

Have a great week!

I love mushroom soup but sadly can't do yours *@TheRealHousewife as it has leek and dairy in.

This morning I ran 9.21km. 10km doesn't seem so daft all of a sudden. I weighed and I've got off the 2lb I put on and I'm back to where I was on Friday but not as good as last Wednesday.

Just had lovely lunch of salad, new potato and shredded duck.

Will just be pottering about as my feet are aching after walking and running.

MrsJonesAndMe · 21/09/2020 20:54

Well done team.

Soup sounds great.
I'm not doing well food wise, but covered about 15-20 miles from Mon-Fri. Not planning to do quite as much this week.

Notasyoungasiwas · 22/09/2020 07:12

Morning all, how is everyone? - down 3lbs this morning. Going in the right direction Smile

FatGirlShrinking · 22/09/2020 07:57

Well done @Notasyoungasiwas great loss!

@SunshineCake I heard Parkrun was restarting, would you consider that?

I am on a 100 day weigh every day challenge on MFP, 6 days in a row I've weighed exactly 210lb. I need a whoosh!

SunshineCake · 22/09/2020 13:04

Well done *@Notasyoungasiwas.

I prefer running alone, *@FatGirlShrinking but thank you.

I have just come back from food shopping and feel so emotional. Half of one length of freezer was empty, a few gaps on the shelves though I missed out a lo5 of aisles like bread, cereals, biscuits.

I have no issue staying in. Bit upset dh still going into work and I feel like I am holding my breath while the dcs are in school, plus dc1 is going back to university next week but I am a bit stressed about feeling the kids and animals. We have plenty in but the kids are getting fussier, spoilt and will miss dinner if they don't want what I have made. There are five of us and there isn't many meals that all five love and I am not enjoying the while planning and cooking any more.

SunshineCake · 22/09/2020 13:08
FatGirlShrinking · 22/09/2020 15:52

@SunshineCake I've noticed a few gaps on the shelves too, hoping it won't become a thing again.

We do have decent supplies at home though so could go a few weeks without having to shop if needs be and we keep those topped up. Main thing for me is fresh veg as getting through lots of that and prefer fresh to frozen where possible.

TheRealHousewife · 22/09/2020 16:32

@SunshineCake I hear what you’re saying about feeling emotional. The empty shelves and the 6 month restrictions are heart sinking. We’ve got through the past 6 months and we need to again. Part of the inner turmoil will be that we know what we are in for (poor nhs staff ... already on their knees and need to do it all again) and it’s not a pretty picture.

Just an idea, have you thought of allowing the children, especially the older ones, to cook their own food If they are refusing to eat what you prepare. Might take some pressure off.

I’m back on plan with my food intake but still on a plateau... only myself to blame for going off piste. I’ve been reading the Obesity Code again as a refresher. It makes so much sense.

Stressed about FEEDING the kids and animals [oops].

The kids will cook for themselves but not necessarily what I want them to have or meal planned. I need to get tougher this time. My youngest had no tea yesterday but when I asked dh he said that is on him. There is plenty in and he could have asked me to make him something if he couldn't do it.

Today I am doing chicken stir fry but also have a pizza loaf in the bread maker and will roast some new potatoes to make sure no one goes hungry if they don't like the stir fry. DH not keen on them but will eat it without moaning.

Dh and I would eat fish every day but the kids wouldn't and we have given up red meat for the sake of dh but the kids miss sausage and bacon and I miss lamb chops. We also can't have chicken every day and dd doesn't like pasta so....

SunshineCake · 22/09/2020 18:13

Just had dinner. I told DD not to just pick out the chicken so she decided she wasn't having any dinner as didn't want any of the stir fry veg. I had cooked some plain chicken but said she couldn't have it until she had tried the stir fry. She had two small bits but then no plain chicken, no noodles, no potatoes. Was so rude. I apologised for jumping in too quick but she just kept on being rude and disrespectful. Said respect has to be earned. I am upset with dh as he didn't step in even when I asked him too though did at something less important. He says he didn't step in as she won't listen and isn't worth the aggro. Said her choice not to eat and to just make her nuggets every day. Is that the answer though as I think that is just giving her what she wants. I'm so upset. I always apologise when I am in the wrong but she never does. The boys are fed up. The dog is upset. The neighbours heard. Fed up.

Sorry for all the moaning.

FatGirlShrinking · 22/09/2020 19:46

Today has been one of those days that can just go fuck off then fuck off some more.

Work is horrible, new boss and turns out he's a git.

As a result eating has been minimal, calories have been made up through cartons of skinny latte rather than actual nourishment. I'm running on pure unadulterated rage and caffeine!

SunshineCake · 22/09/2020 19:47

Hello

I haven't lost anything from last Wednesday strictly but between then and now I went up and the increase is off so I'm taking it as a positive, especially as I am two weeks late and that must have an affect??

In exercise news I ran 10km this morning (well, 10.01km Grin).

MrsJonesAndMe · 23/09/2020 19:16

Sending you both (((hugs))) and positive vibes. Teens are hard work as are bad bosses!

I'm struggling at the thought of the 6m ahead Sad
