Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

any and all counters need to be set to your personal weight and track your heart rate to be relatively accurate. go online and see if you can set your weight (you should be able to) it will help.

i just did 5K of fast walking in 42 minutes and only burned 280 calories.
i did 7K in 1:17 minutes which included arm weights and leg specific exercises and only burned 561 calories.
1/12 of the apple cake i made is 361 calories....that will be a huge challenge. the main reason i don't bake, i love the stuff. i did cut back on the oil from 3/4 to 1/2 oil and 1/4 milk, cut back the sugar from 2 cups to 1 1/2cups. still lots of apples left, and i hate peeling!

Just checking in; I know I haven’t been very active on here lately.
I’m feeling good. Ditching the scale is doing wonders for my head; I’m feeling much more relaxed about my body and eating which is my goal rather then weight loss per day - last time I weighed I had a bmi of 23 so it’s purely a body image/vanity thing for me.

I’ve still been gyming a lot; body pump on Friday, spin then legs/abs weights yesterday. I’ve been slacking on my outdoor running so going for a 5k in a minute and going show jumping later.

I was going to do another body scan at the gym before I go to Cyprus on Wednesday as it measures body fat etc and I find it messes less with my head but I think I might only do it every 3 months or so to track a very gradual progress as I’m finally shaking off the ED related food obsession that’s been plaguing me the last couple of years. It’s hard as I do want to make progress and therefore track it, but if I think about it too much, it has the opposite effect!

@SunshineCake no matter how many calories you're definitely doing lots of moving and that can only be a good thing.

@fallfallfall I choose not to compare exercise calories to cake calories, it's depressing knowing I'd have to run for 18 hours to actually burn off my cake. I prefer to live in happy ignorance Grin could you bake the apples then just scoop the innards out to save the peeling? That's a guess, as mentioned previously I'm not a cook I just shove stuff in the microwave or oven and hope for the best. Feels like it should work based on logic though???

Waiting on a call from out of hours doctor, spoke to 111 COVID response team and they want me seen by someone. Breathless, temperature for 6 days now, lots of coughing and fatigue. They're worried about chest infection or even false negative on COVID test.

I’ve been feeling tough for the past couple of days. Seemed to have a heavy cold with headache. I’ve been living off paracetamols, vit c tablets and toast. Finally starting to feel better. Hope everyone’s doing well.

I have just signed up to slimming world online, have gone to group before & it worked, I just can't be bothered with going back to meetings in these strange times. Also got a voucher so £40 for 3 months seemed ok, going to try and get up early and do a 5K walk before my long commute to the spare bedroom. Grin

I'm 18lb down since Starting calorie counting in July, now doing 5:2 as it feels easier for me so i can enjoy wine and the odd bar of chocolate! I put a stone on in lockdown so gave me a kick up the arse to get started with losing the weight

I've been at the beach most of the day with DH, DS1 and DDog. Had a lovely time. She swam a stroke! Was so confident in the see. Loved her chips Grin.

I still feel tearful and I think I am missing running so this week I will go back to it. My plan always was but I might start tomorrow instead of Tuesday and I am going to re-jig my routine even though I don't like change. I have to with the school runs to do now. DH has suggested I run in the evening but I think I would be too tired. Doing the bike in a bit.

I would love to go to the seaside more often @SunshineCake but we are at least an hour away Sad so sweet to hear about your DDog though.

The DC are at school for longer hours this week, I have ambitious plans to improve my diet and exercise plans and finally tidy up the house. They are however full of snot and sniffles, I really hope my plans don't come to nothing if they're sent home!

Welcome @ElizaB22 & @Wannabangbang and anybody else I’ve missed. Great people on here who are so supportive.

This past week my menus have wandered a bit and water intake lower than normal;I’ve seen the damage on the scales. Not too worried. Back on it good style.

Todays lunch is cottage cheese & boiled egg salad. Dinner is Vegetarian Bean Chilli (extra spicy) & cauli rice. Coffee, tea, water.

I’ve planned exercises to do depending on my back being up to it. It’s a bit painful/twingy at the moment.

Is cauli rice nicer than ordinary rice? I'm not a massive fan of rice and not just because I am rubbish at cooking it and have to make it quite spicy for it to be in any way enjoyable to eat...

No exercise at all in the last 5 days but a vastly reduced appetite means I'm currently 2lb down on last Wednesdays weigh in. I assume once I start eating again that will change 😂

Today's plan is to lay on the sofa watching telly and napping where possible. May send husband on a mission of mercy to get me a Starbucks coffee Frappuccino, I figure if I'm not eating I can have my calories in sweet sweet coffee.

That sounds amazing @FatGirlShrinking but a shame you need to be ill for a day of rest!

Hot here and already walked a fair bit with the double buggy. Stuck to 8hrs window yesterday for the first time in a while and did a walk with Leslie. Batteries have died on the scales, so will have to see what's going on when I've the time to change them - possibly need to buy more.

Hi everyone

Was fed up to get on the scales and see the 2lbs on is still there then I reminded myself I am supposed to weigh after I have run and my period is due this week.

I told DS2 to school then ran. Longest distance today -8.51km and kept going for 65 minutes. Weighed myself once I had walked ddog for almost 1.5 hours and I am down. All off 0.2lbs of the increase but at least it is down plus the two extra is off. Hurray!

First time in the house 11-2 on my own , kept hearing someone. Kept calling hello and then in the end told them if they were planning on hurting me my dog would bite their head off. Need to get braver.

Haven't stopped all day. Terrible lunch of left over mash with lacto free soft cheese and then strawberries with dairy free custard but doesn't matter.

Hi *@MrsJonesAndMe. Hope you and yours are well. I feel like we would get on well if we met in real life Grin.

Have coughed today. Just once, three times, chest a bit sore but really hoping it is just a regular cough as the implications are difficult. My sense of smell is coming back so that is good. Even if it was doggy poo that made that apparent.

Good afternoon all. Off to brave the school run. Different order today due to dd school changing rules and people near ds school threatening the parents collecting.

I've just had the school run from hell. Had to change it as school changed the kicking out time. Went to wrong car park for dd, went wrong getting to her, had to stop for petrol as too close to empty and then on to get ds. He was supposed to only have to wait ten minutes if the new plan had gone to plan but had to wait 45. We are all in now and older ds is cooking dinner so hoping nothing else happens.

Starting to feel a bit better which is nice.

@SunshineCake no coffee 😢 apparently he didn't think he could get it back to me on his bike without it spilling everywhere.

Eating for the last few days has been sporadic and sorely missing in any nutrients. Today:

B - nothing
L - asparagus, green beans, spring onions, wafer thin chicken. Steamed the veg, spring onions and chicken chopped up and lightly fried then tossed in the veg, seasoned and added a small knob of butter. Yum.
